Inflation Watch - Butter Prices Hit All-Time Record High
Butter prices hit $3.10 per lb today in Chicago trading - a record high - as it appears the expectations of production increases after the EU milk quota system expired in March have proved "wildly optimistic." Of course, no one should complain at the rising cost of staples like butter (or toilet paper), just ask Jamie Dimon... "let them eat iPhones."

Doesn't bother me...
Want to eat well today and hedge for the apocalypse? Try a family milk cow!
Good luck trying to make a decent omelet or most sauces without real butter.
But wait? Doesn't the FED think there is no real inflation??
http://marcfabersblog.blogspot.com/
I honestly can't imagine anyone with a functioning brain really believes the low inflation claims being fed to us. Well, if you cut out food and all the other unnecessary consumptives (food, energy, even housing) it may be. Computers have never been cheaper!
Oh, the painful landing this will be...

Energy? You have noticed that energy prices are down a bunch right?
With the old inflation measure of 35 years ago you would see inflation but due to the bankrupt government not wanting to pay COLA costs they twisted the measurements until there is no more inflation. The cost of autos have jumped, as well as everything else. It's criminal what the government and the Fed has done. Yet no outrage.
Indeed. The American populace is far too complacent to give a crap about anything of real significance. But how does this change? It changes when this artificial standard of living that has been created through social programs, money printing, artificial stock market valuation, etc goes away and the economy drops back to reality. People get hungry and can't afford their iPhones, then we'll see blood in the streets. But not until then. I'm so frustrated at how low-information most voters are I've pretty much checked out of politics in general.

Foreign abandonment of US dollars in trade is the key, now around 61%. The FED is extracting tribute from foreign countries, just ask Moahmar or Saddam.

You know: "Excluding the volitile food sand fuel groups..."
Like who the fuck needs to eat or buy fuel for heat or autos?
No inflation here. Mr. Yellen says, with a hedonic smirk, let them eat cheap, GMO corn derived margarine.

I just paid $18 per pound for Flank Steak!! So I guess one more step cheaper would be London broil. Nice knowing you all I am about to choke to death.
I don't know where you shop, but here's sirloin steak for $6.99/lb right down the street from me.

Too much saturated fat...let the sheep keep eating their way to clogged arteries.
That's right, let's all stick with 'I Can't Believe it's Not Butter'
Exactly. Who needs saturated fat when you can eat margirine which is scientifically just one molecule away from becoming plastic.
Mucking Forons.
HMMMMMM!!!! Artificial butter on this here ear of gmo corn is mighty fine eating. Can't get enough.
Kim Kardashian does not like when the price of butter rises so fast.
The myth that saturated fat is deadly has...well died. A lot of people have realised this for a very long time. The Inuits have the lowest heart disease rate and highest consumption of saturated fat. The whole saturated fat issue was a con to push cheap oils onto the public. All things in moderation. Pasture fed cows produce butter with an antioxidant that is unavailable in anything else.
Don't forget the drug industry!!! They started pushing Statins 30 years ago.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lovastatin
Large-scale trials confirmed the effectiveness of lovastatin. Observed tolerability continued to be excellent, and lovastatin was approved by the US FDA in 1987.[18] It was the first statin approved by the FDA.[19]
In 1985, a hypochondriac I knew was already parroting the high cholesterol BS. As far as I know he hasn't died of cancer yet, but I'm sure they will eventually get him.
That's when the demonization of sat. fat went into overdrive. Think of all the money the drug ind. and death(cancer) industries have made since then.
Yes you have a point there, well my old Mum is 84 always cooked with beef dripping and she's slim. They tried to put her on those but they made her ill and has since told them they can forget about testing her cholesterol.
The lipid hypothesis is debunked. Eat moar fat. Cut out the sugars/carbs.
subsitute margarine and the inflation goes away
It takes a dishonest .gov statistician to come up with the chained CPI concept. Let me tell you, chitterlings are NOT an effective substitute for hamburger.
Jamie Dimon's cancer: Karma is real.
The liberals will blame Scott Walker!
But butter is a necessary food group!!!
It is time for this:

"uhh, you wanna trade butter? "
But it's only 'paper butter'?
lmao right try taking physical delivery. Physical butter trading at a premium to paper -- the new silver???
Short butter long silver sounds like a good pairs trade to me but at what ratio? Id have to figure it.
I found cash settled butter futures on the CME site but they hardly trade. Each contract represents nine metric tons of butter. That is a shitload of butter.... Where is the deliverable traded?
.
Time to short butter and go long guns
Buy butter in Europe - all those sanctions on Russia have caused a glut of milk, farmers here are complaining of falling prices.
Butter be careful.
When it all blows up, Iphones will be the first amongst the 'formerly essential, now fucking useless' category. BAnksters will be right behind, in case you were wondering. Butter, followed by toilet paper, will be the things we all stand in 6-hour lines for. . .
Toilet paper and most other personal hygiene products,(tooth paste, deodorant, etc) along with alcohol, tobacco, and ammunition are considered to be the most important items for preppers. when TSHTF situation arises, the uber rich will pay whatever for the things that keep them in any sort of resemblance of the lifestyle to which they are accustomed, and to maintain the addictions that they indulged themselves to when the times were good.
You lure the uber rich in with promises of toilet paper and deodorant, THEN YOU STRIKE!!!!
Dimon, it's what's for dinner.
No I'm not advocating cannibalism, but your pets need to eat something.
Ewww. Not gonna poison Fido and Fluffy with nasty old bankster meatses.
Toilet paper? Takes up too much space for many preppers.
I have boxes full of IRS papers, granted they are a bit rough, but they sure will make for a satisfying ass wipe.
Sell all the curd!
I can't believe it's not butter. Old school.
If you think it's butter, but it's not. It's Chiffan.
Pass the Geritol please.
Why the fuck is butter traded on a commodity exchange????
Why does everything need to have some sort of traded entity attached to it?
Why does the tribe have to extract their pound of flesh from every single thing produced on planet Earth?
OH FUCK I ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTIONS.
One of the three major food groups: butter, bacon, steak
Wrong. Four major food groups. Sugar, fat, salt, and alcohol.
Wrong. Five major food groups. Chocolate, sugar, alcohol, salt, coffee.
I think the three of you should get together and host a barbeque for the rest of us.
Me first! Me first.
increased NAMBLA and bathhouse demand is causing this

I ain't got cows but I do have 3 chickens that lay me 3 eggs daily.
Fed - There is no inflation...
Impossible. Butter isn't in the CPI so it can't be true!!
With all of the breeding improvements we have made to Holstein breed , the poor girls produce nothing more than white water. If you compared todays "real butter" with what our Guernseys produced in the early 70's you would cry out loud and cut your tongue out
You reminded me of when I was a teenager our neighbor had a herd of prizr Jerseys. We got stuff people today can only dream of! You're spot on.
I sold out of ALL financial assets after riding the QE elevator UP UP UP and I bought a farm. I have chickens, rabbits, goats, sheep, and cows.
For the first time in my life I drink unprocessed milk, and it is an AWESOME taste experience ! If you never had it, and you love the taste of milk, then you should find a sanitary organic farm where you can try it - you will be amazed.
And of course I get a lot more milk, cream and butter than I can consume so I sell the excess.
This farm is the most enjoyable investment of my life - HIGHLY recommended :-)
Until you get to an age where you can't do it all. Hope you have lots of kids, or are, at least, packaging food for when you can neither produce nor purchase any.
Yeah, the farm is a HUGE amount of work every day. Fear of that is what kept me from buying one sooner. The farm I selected is in an area with a lot of kids and no employment opportunities, so I have been able to hire all the workers I need so far - and they all know farm stuff, usually better than me ! By the time they grow up and become unavailable, I will be going to Elysium, so good timing.
I live in dairy farm heaven, the Netherlands and get raw milk from my neighbour's farm. He and wife have small store next to the home and get fresh butter, yogurt, buttermilk, ice cream etc.
Cheap and very tasty. I understand its illegal to sell raw milk in the USA, is that true?
BTW, the bullshit about margarine being better for your heart. its bullshit.
I am not going to forego good taste in baking and cooking.
Butter rocks!!!!!!! I am almost 70 and don't give a fuck. no cholestorol tests for me.
500 grams of fresh butter here =95 Eurocents
liter of fresh raw milk = 70 eurocents
No, it is not exactly illegal to sell raw milk in the USA, BUT the regulations that you must comply with in terms of animals, testing, processing, labeling, etc, then the legal liabilities, all amount to so much expense, work and worry that it can be regarded as nearly impossible. Surely you cannot do it on any significant scale, only something like a fresh farm stand catering to only drive-in local customers. Definitely not financially viable.
Yes, Holland is an amazing place for milk and cheese, I really enjoyed that aspect of my visits there, also Holland is cycling heaven, with excellent bike lanes going EVERYWHERE and not a single uphill of any significance in the entire country. There are bicycle parking lots in Holland next to train stations that as big as the parking lots for Walmart, Target, etc.
But genuine farm food in all of Europe (also New Zealand) is much better than food in the USA, it is not just the milk.
Lucky for you that you are almost 70 because in the future, with global ice melting and sea levels rising, Holland will be reclaimed by the rising stormier sea.
I just sold my holdings and now I am a billionaire. You better believe it because you read it on the internet.
It's not that bad, (discounted and old) frozen pies can still be had at or around 60USD each (+taxes and fees).

Red Feather canned butter. By the case. No refrigeration required. Stores for 30 years (although the manufacturer will say six). Powdered butter also useful in some cooking, but not spreadable.
Have you tried the canned cheese ?
If so, how does it taste ?
That's just "TRANSITORY" so don't worry about it. Thanks FED
toilet paper.. and so we all will have to turn a little more muslim.. keep that left hand where it belongs...
