US On The Ropes: China To Join Russian Military In Syria While Iraq Strikes Intel Deal With Moscow, Tehran

Tyler Durden's picture

Last Thursday, we asked if China was set to join Russia and Iran in support of the Assad regime in Syria.

Our interest was piqued when the pro-Assad Al-Masdar (citing an unnamed SAA “senior officer”), said Chinese “personnel and aerial assets” are set to arrive within weeks. To the uninitiated, this may seem to have come out of left field, so to speak. However, anyone who has followed the conflict and who knows a bit about the global balance of power is aware that Beijing has for some time expressed its support for Damascus, most notably by voting with Russia to veto a Security Council resolution that would have seen the conflict in Syria referred to the Hague. Here’s what China had to say at the May 22, 2014 meeting:

For some time now, the Security Council has maintained unity and coordination on the question of Syria, thanks to efforts by Council members, including China, to accommodate the major concerns of all parties. At a time when seriously diverging views exist among the parties concerning the draft resolution, we believe that the Council should continue holding consultations, rather than forcing a vote on the draft resolution, in order to avoid undermining Council unity or obstructing coordination and cooperation on questions such as Syria and other major serious issues. Regrettably, China’s approach has not been taken on board; China therefore voted against the draft resolution.

In other words, China could see the writing on the wall and it, like Russia, was not pleased with where things seemed to be headed. A little more than a year later and Moscow has effectively called time on the strategy of using Sunni extremist groups to destabilize Assad and given what we know about Beijing’s efforts to project China’s growing military might, it wouldn’t exactly be surprising to see the PLA turn up at Latakia as well.

Sure enough, Russian media now says that according to Russian Senator Igor Morozov, Beijing has decided to join the fight. Here’s Pravda (translated):

According to the Russian Senator Igor Morozov, Beijing has taken decision to take part in combating IS and sent its vessels to the Syrian coast.

Igor Morozov, member of the Russian Federation Committee on International Affairs claimed about the beginning of the military operation by China against the IS terrorists. "It is known, that China has joined our military operation in Syria, the Chinese cruiser has already entered the Mediterranean, aircraft carrier follows it," Morozov said.

According to him, Iran may soon join the operation carried out by Russia against the IS terrorists, via Hezbollah. Thus, the Russian coalition in the region gains ground, and most reasonable step of the US would be to join it. Although the stance of Moscow and Washington on the ways of settlement of the Syrian conflict differs, nonetheless, low efficiency of the US coalition acts against terrorists is obvious. Islamists have just strengthened their positions.

As Leonid Krutakov told Pravda.Ru in an interview, the most serious conflict is currently taking place namely between China and the US. Moscow may support any party, the expert believes, and that is what will change the world order for many years.

Clearly, one has to consider the source here, but as noted above, if Beijing is indeed set to enter the fray, it would be entirely consistent with China's position on Syria and also with the PLA's desire to take a more assertive role in international affairs.

Meanwhile, it now looks as though the very same Russian-Iran "nexus" that's playing spoiler in Syria is also set to take over the fight against ISIS in Iraq, as Baghdad has now struck a deal to officially share intelligence with Moscow and Tehran. Here's CNN:

Iraq says it has reached a deal to share intelligence with Russia, Iran and Syria in the fight against ISIS militants.

The announcement on Saturday from the Iraqi military cited "the increasing concern from Russia about thousands of Russian terrorists committing criminal acts within ISIS."

The news comes amid U.S. concerns about Russia's recent military buildup in Syria and would appear to confirm American suspicions of some kind of cooperation between Baghdad and Moscow.

We'd be remiss if we failed to note the significance here. The entire narrative is falling apart for the US, as Russia and Iran are now moving to transform the half-hearted Western effort to contain ISIS into a very serious effort to eradicate the group. Recall that just a little over a week ago, Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani essentially accused the US of intentionally keeping Islamic State around so that the group can continue to advance Washington's geopolitical agenda by serving as a destabilizing element in Syria. According to the Pentagon, Soleimani's visit to Russia (which, you're reminded, violated a UN travel ban and infuriated opponents of the Iran nuclear deal) was "very important" in terms of accelerating the timetable on Russia's inevitable involvement in Syria. It is of course Soleimani who commands the Shiite militias battling ISIS in Iraq. Now, it appears that in addition to the cooperation in Syria, he has managed to secure a Russian-Iran partnership for Tehran's Iraqi operations as well. Here's GOP mouthpiece Fox News:

Russian, Syrian and Iranian military commanders have set up a coordination cell in Baghdad in recent days to try to begin working with Iranian-backed Shia militias fighting the Islamic State, Fox News has learned.

Western intelligence sources say the coordination cell includes low-level Russian generals. U.S. officials say it is not clear whether the Iraqi government is involved at the moment.

Describing the arrival of Russian military personnel in Baghdad, one senior U.S. official said, "They are popping up everywhere."

While the U.S. also is fighting the Islamic State, the Obama administration has voiced concern that Russia's involvement, at least in Syria, could have a destabilizing effect.

Moscow, though, has fostered ties with the governments in both Syria and Iraq. In May, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi flew to Moscow for an official visit to discuss potential Russian arms transfers and shared intelligence capability, as well as the enhancement of security and military capabilities, according to a statement by the Iraqi prime minister's office at the time.

Iranian Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani also was spotted in Baghdad on Sept 22. He met with Shia militias backed by Iran; intelligence officials believe he met with Russians as well.

And here is ISW:

What appears to have happened here is this: Vladimir Putin has exploited both the fight against ISIS and Iran's need to preserve the regional balance of power on the way to enhancing Russia's influence over Mid-East affairs which in turn helps to ensure that Gazprom's interests are protected going forward.

Thanks to the awkward position the US has gotten itself in by covertly allying itself with various Sunni extremist groups, Washington is for all intents and purposes powerless to stop Putin lest the public should sudddenly get wise to the fact that combatting Russia's resurrgence and preventing Iran from expanding its interests are more imporant than fighting terror.

In short, Washington gambled on a dangerous game of geopolitical chess, lost, and now faces two rather terrifyingly disastrous outcomes: 1) China establishing a presence in the Mid-East in concert with Russia and Iran, and 2) seeing Iraq effectively ceded to the Quds Force and ultimately, to the Russian army.

It will be of great interest to watch Russia/China/Iran deal with the extremists in Syria.  I particular, to see if they handle ISIS better than Obama has.

It is time for the USA to stay out of the Middle East.  Let them fight their own damn wars.

But, it still be very interesting to see how the New Axis deals with Sunni extremism.

Lets not forget a few things here...

Sochi 2014 was Russia's attempt at moving up to the top table, opening the whole country to business and seeking to attract global investment. Russia spent $51 billion on Sochi, most of it spent on building the insfrastructure for a global business centre.

Long before the 2014 Olympics begun, Putin knew his plan was in trouble as the international business community didn't invest in Sochi, the foreign investment never came.

Worse still, Russia's $51billion investment spent to showcase the country for foreign investment was totally overshadowed by a US sponsored Coup in Ukraine.

The fact that the Coup in Ukraine happened during the opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Olypmics isn't remembered by Westerners. Here in the west our record of history is completely blurred and carefully selected by our media.

Yet I'm sure everyone will recall how there was even some uncertainty as to whether Putin would be able to attend the opening Ceremony of Russia's $50bn Winter Olympics all because of the events happening in Ukraine in real time. At the time it was presented as a coincidence but in hindsight it looks like it must have been meticulously planned.

Well Cold War 2.0 started before the Sochi games, Putin returned to the presidency in 2012 and announced his plan for a Eurasian Economic Union.

In December 2012, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the U.S. would seek to counter Russian proposals for creating a Eurasian Economic Union of former Soviet states:

"It's not going to be called Soviet Union. It's going to be called customs union, it will be called the Eurasian Union and all of that, but let's make no mistake about it. We know what the goal is and we are trying to figure out effective ways to slow down or prevent it".

On September 12, 2013, in the context on Barack Obama's comment about American exceptionalism during his September 10, 2013, talk to the American people while considering military action on Syria, Putin criticized Obama saying that

"It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation."

In October 2014, Putin delivered his Valdai club speech, which sharply criticized the Western powers' foreign policy and actions, especially those of the United States, who, in his opinion, "having declared itself the winner of the Cold War", had taken steps that threw the system of global and regional security as established after World War II "into sharp and deep imbalance":

"The Cold War ended, but it did not end with the signing of a peace treaty. This created the impression that the so-called ‘victors’ in the Cold War had decided to pressure events and reshape the world to suit their own needs and interests. If the existing system of international relations, international law and the checks and balances in place got in the way of these aims, this system was declared worthless, outdated and in need of immediate demolition."

@Oracle,  you're not paying attention. By driving the ISIS/AQ forces into Saudi Arabia, it's an almost iron clad guarantee to foment rebellion and shut down oil production. That instability will create a failure to deliver on existing contracts to Europe, etc. and push prices higher. Apparently reading is not fundamental.

I guess you didn't study history....there are winners and losers. Blaming everything on the US is a fools game. Obama is a complete moron and makes the world more dangerous by the day. According to the people on this site somehow the US causued WWII and it wasn't that the Nazis were bad people. The muslims of the middle east are very bad people. Obama surrenders to them frequently. Study what happened when the muslims took over the med in the middle ages. There isn't anything preventing that now. Obama and his political crowd are like Wilson pre WWI....where they ignored very real peril! We should have stayed in IRAQ and controled the destruction of the terrorists their. Instead Obama assists them to over throw strong men across the ME. Eygpt, Iraq, Syria, Libya... Russia and China don't have a good record of not killing millions!

The muzzies of the ME may or may not be very bad people, but the motherfuckers who pulled off 9/11 are most certainly very bad people.  I refer to the US government and the israeli government.

And I suggest you revisit your studies of history.  The false flag of 9/11 gave us an excuse to destroy a stable country in the ME, Iraq, and to carry on  from there to other stable countries in the ME.  Syria is the current example.  To think this is the "terrorists", with Obama's incompetence enabling them, is stupidity in the extreme.  This is and was planned from the get go, well before 9/11, and Obama is doing the bidding of his zio masters.  "Empire of Chaos" is a well-chosen epithet.

Re: "It will be of great interest to watch Russia/China/Iran deal with the extremists in Syria.  I particular, to see if they handle ISIS better than Obama has."

It would be a mistake to attribute this simplistically to the latest mouthpiece-in-chief, as it predates him by many years. Al Qaeda/ISIL is a manifestation of PNAC (Project for a New American Century), the biggest boondoggle in modern American history, arranged for the purpose of undermining and subverting international law in international affairs. Various "proxy groups" are recruited, funded, trained, armed and manipulated for the express purpose of regional destabilization, essentially creating a Wild East to prepare the way for installation of puppet regimes along preferred routes for prospective energy pipeline corridors, and enforce continued acceptance of dollar-based debt.

The arrogance of those guys interviewed on Faux News at the JohnGaltFla link (above) is stunning.  You'd think they were picking team members for a game of dodgeball...

The high water mark passed for Israel last year following Operation Protective Edge, when over 2000 Palestiians were killed by Israeli advanced weaponry.  Since the financial crisis of 2008 began, Israeli has only further alienated itself from the ordiany western citizen who is struggling to make ends meet while Israel sucks up billions of dollars of tax money and gets plenty of pandering by western leaders who are ignoring the plight of the average joe and jane.

There is also a growing western awareness that 911 was an inside job involving the Mossad and the US deep state.  Only 3 Israeli's died in 911 and hundreds had been moved out just 1 week before 911.

1) Odigo early warning sent in Hebrew 2 hours before 911 warning of that an attack on the WTC was imminent

  http://www.theinsider.org/news/article.asp?id=520

2) Zim shipping company (an Israeli company with ties to the Mossad) breaking it's lease in order to move hundreds of Israeli employees out of the WTC a week before the attack:  (employees in the WTC contacted the FBI right after the attack to tell them about tjheir suspicions regarding Zim's departure because of the large penalty that Zim had to pay to leave--it's in the FBI documents taken just hours after the attack)

3) Five dancing Israeli, hundreds of Mossad agents living near the hijackers,..etc.

4)  Chesed Gomel where in October 2000 in a cemetary in NJ, three Israelis' were overhead by an ex-IDF soilder to talking in Hebrew of a plan to crash planes into the WTC (the FBI refuses to release the transcripts of the interview taken on this case)

Also the Palestinian flag raising ceremony in 3 days at the UN and Putin's upcoming speech next week where he will finger the US as the biggerst supporter of terrorism in the Middle East.

Israeli IS going to sit there because it HAS to it there; in game theory it now occupies the unfortunate for it (but  fortunate for us) position such that any strategy it tries will only result in its coming under attack even more.    The big game changer is the physical link now between 5 groups: the Russians, Iranians, Iraqi's, Syrians, and Hezbollah.  This link up will will allow the movement of weapons to Syria and Hezbollah from the other 3.   Israel wants to be able to attack any of it's neighbors with impunity but Hezbollah will now be able to obtain equipment by which to defend itself.    Any attack by Israel on the interests of one of the 5, will be met by a counterattack by the others on Israel directly but more likely on any ally of Israel (vassal state in reality) such as Saudi Arabia, the US, or France resulting in even more outcry in the countires agaisnt supporting the nutty apartheid state.

The Saudis will be chased out of Yemen in the next 6 months and then Iran will expand there along with China.and Russia.   The Sunni monarchies of the gulf will come under attack by Iran and Russia indirectly who will now foment Orange revolutions of their own.  The game is over, or soon will be in Yemeny.  Pakistan will have to withdraw it's mercenary forces to the Gulf states because it is risking it's relationsip with China.  Pakistan knows that when push comes to shove, China will ally with Russia and drop Pakistan, leaving Pakistan alone to face India if it (Pakistan) continues to support aggression against the Yemenese allies of the Iranians.

What's the fun of doing Aliyah and moving to Israel if once there, you can't act superior?  But Israel can no longer act superior by being a big bully now.  The Chosen ones only can feel chosen if they can act like they are Chosen;  they can only act like they are Chosen if they can kill or dictate with impunity to their neighbors AND to the Palestinians.  But now with this recent move by Russia, there will be no ability by Israel to attack Syria or Hezbollah, and thus the whole 'chosen one' myth will become deflated; 'bout time.

Perhaps not now, but the Christian, Muslim, and now Buddhist world will soon be looking quite closely at the Palestinians due to the projected next move of Nuttyaho.   Nuttyahoo is furious with the Russians and Chinese and he will therefore turn his fury onto the Palestinians,  Thus the Palestinians will soon become the next square on the chessboard to come into play.

We alll know that 911 was an inside job done by Mossad/US job for two reasons; first because the US needed an excuse to takeover the ME and secondly as an excuse for Israel to eliminate the Palestinians issue by forcing them to leave Israel.  But the US failed to complete it's mission due to it's own incompetence and due to Putins intransigence and now Russia and China are entering Syria on Israel's northern border.

Nuttyahoo is an absolute monster and he will now try to force Palestinians into exile following the Syrians because his goal is a mythical pure racial/ethnic/tribal state of the Jews.  At this point he's thinking, what's another 2 or 3 million refugees flooding into Europe?

That's the next play.   We live in interesting times.

If Israel attacks Iran, then the US will be drawn in and Russia, Syria, or Iran will sink or disable a carrier; at the very least, US bases will come under rocket attack.   The US will be seen to be a 'paper tiger' as Mao said, and it will have to retreat or lose thousands of dead GI's in a few days of rocket attacks as the US bases in the ME are not hardened.  The dollar will crumble; oil will skyrocket as the Persian gulf is shut down.  Iran invades Saudi Arabia and takes over the entire ME oil reserves.  The US will have to evacuate dozens if not hundreds of bases in the ME and in Afghanistan.  I don't think Russia wants to sink a US carrier due to the tremendous loss of life, but I can seem them disabling the flight deck, propellers, communications so as to render them useless

Americans can start cleaning up and arresting the traitors who have held office such as Bush, Cheney, and Clinton.  The Federal reserve wil get nationalized and loans made availiable at zero percent interest for reconstruction of our dilapidated cities.  Our military can be downsized to the amount needed to protect our borders and NOTHING MORE.   Our police can become demilitarized and our jails emptied of non violent offenders and filled up instead with corrupt politicican responsible for 911 and Sandy Hoax

Excellent

The only thing that matters is how much money you can make from alliances and when the stars realign, you realign your aliiances.

I have believed for a while that the ISIS type menace can only be tackled by an alliance that would have to include China and Russia. Americans can relax - less costs. They are also less of a target. While we have been bogged down chasing our tails, sowing murder and mayhem in all directions, draining our treasury, and exhausting our military for the past 15 years, Russia has just been watching and waiting.  The few times they had moved, they have done so with great timing and efficiency....and at little relative expense.  They have very good intelligence regarding our weapons capabilities and the way we deploy our fighting forces by now, too.

These developments come after the US has spent 15 years destroying 7 nations in the Middle East.  We are universally HATED by everyone there.

The more greater likelihood is that the CIA is more towards the later part of the prior description which makes most of the 'false flag' stuff BS.  Nice to think that but I would just lable the CIA as a largely incompetent & slow-moving bureaucracy.

The costs for the whole system are so high that they will go bankrupt. When people will be forced to take in families into their apartments then they will understand what they've unleashed. In the meantime they spend millions on hostels and police work for unaccompanied minors who are former street kids and bring their mentality, separating Christians, Muslims and others to prevent riots etc.

In 10 years they will wake up - and it will get very ugly. The alternative might be that Germans move to Poland, Estonia, etc and leave the German territory to the immigrants.

The European caches have been there decades - for the supposed 'stay behind' forces in the event of a Soviet invasion. Funnily enough they are equally useful for false flag events against European politicians who cross the US/Bankers. The ZioNazi forces of NATO will be fully aware of where the caches are stored.

Even more interestingly, the Soviets did the same in the former Soviet Block countries. I wouldn't be surprised if such weapons just happened to find their way into the hands of the 'rebels' in east Ukraine in the early days of the uprising.

The Jebusites settled and constructed Jerusalem, then called Jebus.

According to the Bible [grain of salt, please] they lost the battle against Joshua that also killed their king, Adonizedek, but managed to stay in Jebus until the invasion of King David.

So, because I mentioned that the Jebusites were expelled from Jerusalem by the {proto}'Israelites' that means I wish to see a reconstituted polity?

http://biblehub.com/joshua/15-63.htm
http://www.rejectionofpascalswager.net/joshua.html

Basically Jebusites as such only get a mention in the Jewish Bible, but there's plenty of evidence that various rulers in Canaan requested help from Egypt - which ruled the area for centuries. It's also unlikely people living in Jerusalem when the proto-Jews attacked them actually founded the city themselves.

They are basically lost to history, even more so than Scotland's Picts {who certainly *existed* anyway} but there's some people, not necessarily scholars bu tso what, who think they fucked off to Africa where tribes with similar names apparently exist. Possible, but seems more likely similar language roots are at play - then again look at the Lemba people

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemba_people

Clearly a small group of Hebrews/Jews made it there, probably mostly male, which is what happened in "Khazaria" although that theory is very over-stated, just like the idea that Palestinians who have lived in Palestine for centuries {and not all have} "are Arabs" is over-stated - lots of pre-Arabic genes amongst them, just as the Bretons Welsh and Irish have lots and lots of pre-Celtic markers.

Maybe that part of Africa was the Canaanites' Hamptons... who knows.

Sun, 09/27/2015 - 13:36 | 6599338 The Indelicate ...
The Indelicate Genius's picture

The Khazarian hypothesis is a little truth greatly overstated by people who don't actually know much about history/language/genetics for purposes of political ideology - ipso facto, referring to Palestinians as "Arabs" is basically the same.

Neither were my hobby - apart from being interested in popular misconceptions as such. For example, in Ireland in Scotland and Wales - being "Celtic" as the traditional languages were/are - is a point of pide, but mostly distinction from the Anglo-Saxons.

But it turns out the Anglo-Saxons have a great deal of "Celtic" markers and, along with the "Celts" a great deal of markers that precede the Celts by millenia.

You don't have a civilization that built Newgrange, Skara Brae, and other megaliths older than most of the pyramids that just disappears due to waves of Celtic-speaking migrants.

I suppose it doesn't matter - basic thought is that many or most of our conflicts are based on ideas and identities that dont have much of a good basis at all.

Enjoy the homemade chili - that sounds fucking fantastic right now.

With this you are spreading darkness, not light. How about some link to back up your lack of understanding? In the meantime, try doing a search on Israeli Prof. Slomo Sand. Another name you can make yourself familiar with is Arthur Koestler.

I don't understand what you are trying to get at regarding the Semetic Palestinians, but according Prof. Sand, they are the descendants of the Biblical Jews who converted during the Islamic conquest.

Finally, watch out for the population genetics studies on this topic. The science is more gamed than LIBOR or 3 card monti. If you read the study protocols carefully, the subtrefuge is clear.

Yup. Carefully selected test populations. Lack of negative and positive controls. You can then show anything you chose to show.

Howdy - compare Askanazi DNA to a composite European genome and say there is no match, indicating not European, supporting Semetic origin. Fail to mention that comparing any European Ethnic group (Spanish, Irish, Serbian, Italian, etc.) to said composite returns the same negative result. And so on. I could go on, but you get the idea. Its like Libor.

Yes, the axis of evil keeps getting bigger.  But it's not a matter of "US on the Ropes".  It's "US hands off Sandy Quagmire to Putin" or "Israel and the Neocons on the Ropes as the American People are Liberated from Middle East SNAFU".

The American people might soon be 'liberated' from the UN and the international community, based on Putin's latest comments to Charlie Rose. Perhaps it is the UN which will be liberated from the rest of the world. Israel, the US, and the other 'four eyes' might be the only six countries left in the UN.

It would only be a false flag if our government attacked its own assets (or used a convenitent act of God) and blamed it on someone else.  If they attack a foreign power its an act of war, as if, for instance, they were behind those recent explosions in China. The Chinese and Russians might refuse to take the bait and prefer a time of their own choosing rather than our government's.

A false flag is any strike where the attackers make it look like some other country or organization did it.  It doesn't have to be against itself. If they attack someone else under these conditions, then it's both a false flag and an act of war.

A not now.  Putin, the blue eyed Christian, will help save Syria with the brave Syrian people.

I have huge respect for the Syrians, Syrian Army and Assad for standing up to this evil vermin back by ZATO.

I hope the Russians and China help the Iraqis and Libyans also take back their countries and the Syrians also take back the Golan Heights plus any water running into Syria.

I also hope that Russia and Iran help the Yemeni's destroy the evil House of Saud aka House of Fraud.

Look, nobody gives two fucks about false flags, US pretenses, US excuses, the opinion of the US government,  Western media, the EU, Western public opinion, or anything coming from America and the West any more.  The Syrian message is loud and clear.  From now on, all your actions will be countered with equal or superior force.  You don't like it, go to war.  The rest of the world just said to the West that enough is enough.  The usual smartassery Western foreign policy is famous for is no longer acceptable.  At gun point (and a certain huge pile of Treasuries but that's another story).  End of story and end of the USD dominance.

The usual perversity Western foreign policy is famous for is no longer bearable, and only was acceptable because we barely knew what was going on. Since files have been declassified by the tons, we know the Western foreign policy has always been downright nauseating.

High time it stopped.

Couldn't you at least go to Sum Ting Wong, checkmate, We ___________ some folks, or some other unimaginative and constantly repeated hackney-ism?

The false flag will be against a proxy in the group and effectively (or otherwise) pull Russia and China in. The time to lock horns directly is in the future.

So, what does an American citizen do to prepare for whatever awaits us?

The NWO-ZWO goes around destroying places, looting them and then offers IMF slavery loans to help rebuild.

European sources are taking a "wait and see" approach to Russia's, and possibly now China's interests in Syria. In so many past cases, the general public and the media is simply NOT privy to these unusual moves which appears to question US hegemony.

Pepe Escobar of Asia Times might have put a more reliable spin on the story, but, as usual, it's best to wait a little before we can observe genuine motives and intentions.
