I wasn't there. But the photos don't look photoshopped to me.
This is a subject I would not like to argue.
If you don't believe it, well, good for you. I doubt I'd change your mind.

Just a question...

How much fuel does it take to cremate a body.

Do the math. Germany was tight for fuel. No way there was enough for the numbers we are supposed to believe.

Churchill was responsible for the deaths of more Indians than Hitler was of Jews, even if you believe the numbers, but the victor writes the history books.

I try to base my opinions on information that I have carefully researched than that jammed down my throat by people with vested interests.

Many died and the photos you refer to are likely genune, but something to consider is that a photograph doesn't show cause of death.

Always keep an open mind.

2 older men in the town i grew up in were a corporal and a pfc in the 3rd army and they told our sundayschool class about it years before there was much media coverage probably about 1963.  both of them were. from what i've been told, mentally affected by what they saw and experienced, and were like completely different people when they returned home from the war, i knew one of them very well and he seldom spoke to anyone except for a few simple words.  i don't know about the numbers, but i do know that they saw 10;s of thousands of bodies piled up.  and a very few survivors.  they also were extremely religious, but never showed it but in the way they lived their lives and their church attendance.

NONSENSE - Read some real history before making a fool of yourself.

Englishman Frank Whittle invented a jet engine completely on his own. ... Hans von Ohain of Germany was the designer of the first operational jet

Sad that some of the largest corporations in the world continue to operate as going concerns while continuing to profit from the death and destruction of human life?

Well, obviously, VW forgot to pay off the right people .... I mean, nobody DIED from these emission "cheats" (irregardless of any ridiculous eco-nazi fantasies) - whereas GM's faulty ignition switch (which they knew about - and a fix would have been a couple bucks per car) caused the death of ~100 people.  Strange how this "revelation" and subsequent "fine" coincides with VW's recent plans to spend $22 billion developing electric cars with the Chinese.  I think that had a lot more to do with this whole media circus than it does any serious concerns with "emissions" or "safety."  The regulatory agencies are thug agencies - nothing more - they don't give a flying fuck about the safety or health of anyone except themselves.

There's someone on my block who is exactly like this asshat.

I drive a large ford pickup truck in a somewhat street-parking-impaired area. I like my car. I don't want a tiny commuter coffin. Well, on the street I live on, the distance between driveways is variable and in some places where there might be room for 2 small cars... if I park in that spot I'm the only one who can fit there.

There's a woman on my street who has decided that I'm an asshole if I ever do this. At first she left me a note, explaining that my truck was "VERY LARGE" and that I should be considerate of other people where I park on public streets. I laughed and dropped her note in the gutter. I'm fairly certain she saw me do this.

I kept parking in those spots, about 3 weeks later, someone decided to dump a fully used cat-litter box into the bed of my truck for parking in that spot. I never washed it out. I let it sit there, as a reminder to that asshat just what an asshat they are. Eventually the rains washed it all out and there was no longer any semblance of message.

A week or two ago, someone again decided that a disgusting and smashed burger king burger needed to fly it's way up onto the top of my windshield.

Yes, this is the level of adulthood we have in this country. It never occurred to this cunt that most of the time when I'm searching for parking, I see two smaller cars that are too close together to let me park between them, forcing me to park blocks away and walk home. It never occured to her that I'm actually quite lucky when I can find a spot on my own street, nope... to her all that matters is that she was inconvenienced and I was an easy target.

Some of the worst pollution generation in the United States is from petrol power lawn mowers and landscaping equipment.

Lawn movers emissions are practically unregulated.

Get yourseself a couple of game cameras and strap them on the inside of the truck, looking out the windows. (be covert if needed and disquise them by placing under a hat on the dash, etc). There's a good chance you will catch them in the act. Then you can have some fun once you know for sure who they are.

ZDRux: "It's sad what our country has been reduced to."

Looking at it from a different paradigm... Is someone burning to give it to Germany and its economy?

Consider:

- They don't get their gold back from the US/Fed,
they get spied on
-They have tens of thousands of US troops at many bases in Germany
- They get inundated with non-Christian, non-European refugees
- They get a dozen advanced nuclear weapons (WMDs) delivered for storage against "enemies to the East",
- They ask "How high" whenever their US masters say "Jump!"

And they STILL get piled on? It appears that someone does not like or respect Germany, no matter what they do or allow to be done to them. Or are they not letting in Refugees fast enough, and they are being disciplined?

Just like the "Financial Regulators", the "EPA Regulators" were told to "backoff" during the Bush years!

It's very difficult for a President to change Federal Laws; but it's very easy to scale back, and even prevent, the enforcement of those laws.

VW knew it could get away with cheating, so it did...short term gain, long term pain...hmm...looks like, absent government regulators, VW didn't do what was in it's "long term" best interest...didn't see that coming...

This is going to run and run.

A point to note.. if the 'cheat' mode allows the vehicle to run clean so it passes the test - why can't it run that way all the time??

Clearly it can't. Either power suffers or engine lifespan suffers or another factor.

So when the software is 'tweaked' to make the vehicle comply - will your vehicle have the same horsepower? will it last as long? will it be as reliable??

So when they recall your VW - think if you have the same specification you purchased when they've reprogrammed it.

I have a 2004 Audi A4 with a gas 1.8 turbo my daughter drives.

Back when I drove the car, I had an APR ECU flash performed which gave the car 45 more HP with the caveat that I supply it 93 octane vs the standard 91 octane (along with a larger diverter valve).

Do you think the thousands of APR customers (along with REVO, JHM, etc) give a shit about the additional emmissions from their upgrades?

Fuck no.  We want performance and reliability.

There are like, maybe, 3 Ford Diesels on the road that are not chipped.
I have one. I'm just too cheap.
Being a Master Mechanic, I know, when you tweak the program , you can get almost anything you want. But something has to give.

I had a sign in my shop;

We do three kinds of work,
1) Good
2) Fast
3) Cheap
Pick 2.

The American requirements have always been partly idealistic and partly idiotic. In the seventies, British cars exported to the US regularly had about 40% less power and were stifled and unyielding disasters, producing less power yet using more petrol and looking absolutely stupid with big rubber bumpers almost at window height, yet somehow living up to the clean air regulations at that time.

I look forward to see all the disappointed VW owners after a mandatory visit at the dealer, where the engine is going to loose power and reliability, to be able to comply with the exhaust emission standards.

I think many will sell when they realize the joke is on them!

I'm certain the dealers will find they are subject to a catastrophic lack of service business because no one I know who owns a TDI is EVER going anywhere near a VW dealer for service ever again. As I told another clown, I didn't buy my TDI because of its "clean and green" attributes, I bought it because the engine as currently tuned has unbeatable performance and mpg. The EPA can suck my emissions, which will probably continue on this car for another 200k miles.

In 46 states, there are people who want to smoke weed, but they don't.

In every large city in the USA, there are black people who want to kill, rape, rob, and chimpout, but they don't because it's illegal.

I'm quite sure every TDI owner will be going in for their mandatorhy power reduction and fuel mileage deduction.

Oh yeah.

I gotta say i am surprised how pissed you are all for someone who made his opinion known (yes he is pussy for not doing it face to face). It just amazes me how inconsistent people are with their beliefs. So in the future we all know things are going to go to hell maybe just maybe when the shit hits the fan commonsense makes its way through the garbage pile that is government and at some point we do get people who believe in limited government sitting in the seats.

Question to all of you will it just be limited to what your wants and needs are or will you be consistent and truly want a free society where people can tell other people what they think of them without fear of government intervention or a shitload of down votes.

You must have missed the last hundred years.

Progressives ALWAYS express their ideals loudly AND publicly. It is when those ideas are opposed, even in private conversations, that those doing so are attacked. Sure we all understand the concept of free speech, but we also understand that turnabout is fair play. Besides, there is no one here that believes that this progressive "free speech" is idle expression. It is a precursor, a warning and symptom of the direction we are being pushed. That if we drive the wrong car, or have the wrong bumper sticker, or make any public display of non progressive actions or beliefs, WE WILL BE ATTACKED. The simple fact that this person owned a VW, obviously purchased before any of this comes to light, clearly demonstrates this progressive attack mode...and do not think they are not serious about it. The world is becoming increasing radicalized and the progressives will push every extremist button they can find in an attempt to intimidate people into silence and submission. I'm sure they are convinced at this very moment that the debate is over. There has been a push back against diesels, regardless of their proven performance or cleanliness, as a symbol of everything wrong with carbon fuels. The early years of soot hang like a cloud over this issue and there will be no pacifying them. Progressives are about causes and symbols of those causes, so it is no surprise that diesel has been held to a far higher standard than gasoline ever was. There is a reason why no one has been making diesels for passenger cars in this country for the last thirty years. It is because the left didn't want them...no matter what. They are a symbol.

Used to be able to fix 'em yourself,, but now you pretty much need to take your car to the dealership to get air fitted in the tires, FFS!

Just how would .gov detect said cheat? With their emissions tester that the car's ECU detects?

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Anybody who's owned a TDI appreciates the efficiency, torque, smoothness, and longevity of a diesel engine as compared to a gasonline engine. VWs gasoline powered offerings are sub par.

The TDI is their engineering triumph, and a big FUCk YOU to mamagov.
