Come to realize the hotel staff had spent two days making sure we were going to have a miserable time. Freezer did not work. Maids never showed up until the last 2 days. A massively huge spider suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the other couple's bedroom, was tramped on and a zilllion ants embarked on a tour of their own. I was talking to my husband while sitting on bed, he was lying there, and up from behind the bed came 2 red claws, a big crab was making its way across his pillow. He nearly had a heart attack. I had to go down a cliff to put it back into the ocean. Our dishes must have been grilled with old oil; everything tasted like old oil. I lost 5 lbs.
Everyone in my group blamed me for having insisted on the stated taxation. It was a nightmare beyond hotel. We get in a taxi (private SUV), with my husband and his friend with fat wallets and us with our rings. the cab driver, goes off the main road and into a delapidated neighborhood. I am in full panick, and trying to get my drunk companions to notice. No one could speak Spanish. He picks up some middle aged man who does not make eye contact....we got out of there alive, of course, but the possibilities of what could happen ruined my night. When he dropped us off, I almost thanked him for not killing us.

Quick story. I worked for a helo company doing "select cut" logging, meaning we only took the mature trees. The old, damaged, young trees all remained. We pulled the mature trees straight out with a very large helicopter. This type of logging leaves the forest still looking like a forest when we left. It was hard shitty work, but it paid well. Inevitably, EVERY week some "hippy yuppy" loser type would roll up and try tell us to stop logging we're killing the trees. We would ask the guy where he lived and he would tell us the name of the small town. We would then ask if he had a deck on his house. Most would say "why, yes!" and begin to brag about their rare Redwood or Cedar deck that they had installed at great expense. The next question was where do you FUCKING think the WOOD comes from ASSHOLE? Worked everytime.

At least in my state that is how it is. If I am not mistaken, the laymans term for 'opacity" is smoke. On my Dodge cummins I can put stage V injectors, a fuelling box and a shit ton of other legal mods and boost my horsepower to 600+ and my torque to WELL OVER 1300 FT LBS.

I'm visiting friends in Portland again tomorrow, but I'll never live there again. I was leaving my brother's house up there earlier this year, and started my 21-year-old car and let it warm up (which takes up to 3 or 4 minutes on a cold day) while running back inside to give him a hug goodbye...
...and this neighbor woman follows me up the stairs to my brother's door, knocks while taking two steps inside the living room, then asks about the running car outside. I explained that the car was mine, that I was just letting it warm up, and that nothing was amiss situationally. She then proceeded to pour out this cascade of concern about global warming, and rudely scoffed about my choice to warm my old car up.
I admitted to her that, yes, I was single-handedly destroying the environment by warming my car up, but that I was about to hop in and drive it, after which everything would be fine and I wouldn't be hurting the environment any more. She was confused, nodded her head as though she approved of my earth-conscious logic, and reticently dismissed herself from the encounter.

Someone please explaining to me why diesel emissions are so bad since they are carbon dioxide (CO2) and not carbon monoxide (CO). Animals and humans breath out carbon dioxide which is used by plants. Carbon monoxide will kill you.

On the off chance this is not a rhetorical question I'll give you an answer, non rhetorical answer that is.
Both diesel and gasoline powered engines emit both carbon monoxide and dioxide. Although, diesels emit much less monoxide but I wouldn't test that theory out. Diesel engines emit particulates like sulfur which is a concern for clean, breathable air not necessarily climate change. The U.S. Has far fewer diesel cars than Europe so having the same or nearly the same emissions standards makes little sense. Modern Diesel engines are much cleaner than the smoke screen cars of old.
As an aside you can run kerosen in a diesel with increased horsepower but it spews thick black smoke. Wonder what aviation fuel which is just clean kerosen would do in a diesel?
With dieaels it's not CO nor CO2 (which is just plant food). It' nitrogen oxides, typically called NOx .
Back in the saner days before CO2 was declared a pollutant, SOx and NOx were still limited in emissions, and they are real pollutants that cause smog. These "cheat" diesel engines are emitting real pollution, unlike gasoline engines.

The price of VW TDI's are going to drop thru the floor. Now is the time to start looking, they are great engines with great fuel economy.
The trick here in my town is buy a dodge diesel PU, then turn the inject pum up and roll coal. When you get behind one it makes you sick. The TDI does not put out a cloud of smoke, if fact, I have never seen one smoke on acceleration.
My wife's audi was burning a quart of oil every 1,000 miles and never smoked at all. These vw/audi systems have some kind of oil catch can somewhere in the line. The audi dealer rebuilt the engines as part of a recall. German engineering has changed from advancing technology to advancing the impression that they are advancing technology. It is similar to the US education system where students are taught that they are smart but they are not actually taught anything that would make them actually smart. See cancer reseach and climate science for more examples of this.
Would like these questions answered:
A) Are we really that much more intelligent than these people?
