I really enjoyed Putin's interview on 60 minutes. He handled the stupid questions thrown at him very well. What kind of country do I live in that I admire the Russian president much more than my own?
What's so great about democracy anyway? Two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner, as the old saying goes. The idea that 50% plus 1 of any group can dictate what I may or may not do and enforce their collective will on me, all under the banner of "the law" is frankly terrifying. Just look around yourself in America. Do you really want a simple majority of these brain dead land whales deciding what rights you have for you?
My rights are not up for debate. Democracy is the god that failed.
"Remember, democracy never lasts long.It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide." - John Adams
Which is the nation whose leader is guided by Christian principkes, and renounces socialism, and instead implements a for low tax rate across the board?
"Around 25,000 ROC churches have been built or rebuilt since the early 1990?s, the vast majority of which have been built during Putin’s rule and largely due to his backing and that of those in his close circle of supporters."
Yes, well Russia has a huge Muslim population, and Putin wants them to feel at home. The last thing he wants is a manufactured conflict between Islam and Christianity in Russia.
But there's a huge difference between the massive revival of Orthodoxy under his presidency and the opening of a single mosque in Moscow: Zion hates Christianity. That's the litmus test for me. If Putin was under their control he would not have been allowed to re-build the Orthodox Church in such a spectacular fashion, something that will benefit Russia for generations to come.
Believe it or not Zion doesn't have as big a problem with Islam. Indeed, Israel helped set up Hamas, and in my opinion they are behind ISIS as well. Two of their supposed enemies, in other words.
Israel is the only country with a 'Mozie' problem. It is desperately trying to make it a problem elsewhere (9/11, Syria, etc) in order to get a free pass to eliminate all Palestinians in the terrortry it covets.
Israelis publicly call for the final extermination of the Palestinian people. Silverstein quotes an Israeli Nati Mor who says "Zionism is in freefall. The only solution is to understand that only one people will exist between the Jordan River and the sea, and the other people will undergo a dreadful holocaust and annhiliation. The only conclusion is that even thpough the time is not yet ripe, we must act quietly to lay the ground for the final extermination of the Palestinian people". The only 'outrage' about this in Israel is making it public so the 'cattle' (aka goyim) can see it.
Not sure what you mean by that. There are billions of Christians on the planet and billions of Muslims. We all get along. The only so-called Christians who have a problem with Islam are the British and American Protestant sects, who want to drive a wedge between Christianity and Islam so their friend "Israel" can take advantage.
So what you wanna say is "republitards good, demotards bad"?
<sarcoff>
Joke aside, it looks like most 'Muricans are not just contradicting each others on the topic, but also have problems to grasp that Democracy and Republic are synonyms, although don't have identical meanings.
Republic is used to officially describe a country's political system and its Latin translation means nothing more than "public domain" (Monarchy is the other prevalent form present today, see also Oligarchy), while Democracy as a term is used in a more colloquial sense (its antonym is Autocracy, though also Plutocracy, Tyranny, Despotism belong to the same family).
One has to consider that what Ben had on his mind while uttering his immortal sentence to the curious maid, is that it takes constant vigilance of those that constitute and have the rights to decide on all matters concerning "the public domain". For otherwise it's easy to lose your Republic if you allow foreign entities to: 1. unconstitutionally creep in into Govt. and 2. de facto transforming your Republic into an Oligarchy/Plutarchy by a soft coup behind the scenes...
There's also the matter of governing documents. In a pure democracy, all political power (sovereignty) is vested in the majority. A republic typically has a governing document. Our governing document enumerates some rights, this depriving even a super majority of some of their sovereignty to protect the public.
The real question of democracy vs republic is "What is it that the populist majority wants, that they don't already have?" Or, more bluntly stated: "Why can't they use the extant political processes to deprive citizens of their rights?"
"In a pure democracy, all political power (sovereignty) is vested in the majority."
Your statement is true only if by "the majority" you understand all of the citizens with a right to vote. And what would be true regarding Republics - "whereas in a real Republic like the USSA, all political power rests in the hands of the few", or...? Furthermore, a Constitution isn't exclusively a document typical for Republics, there are many Constitutional Monarchies out there as well guaranteeing individual and minorities' rights and freedoms.
"The real question of democracy vs republic is "What is it that the populist majority wants, that they don't already have?" Or, more bluntly stated: "Why can't they use the extant political processes to deprive citizens of their rights?"
Hit the nail on the head there. <sarcoff> A better question would be 'in which way does the sovereignty constituent prevent concentration of power in the hands of a few that leads to loss of individual rights & freedoms in a Republic versus Democracy?' The answer is the same for both Republics and Democracies (gasp, they're one and the same) - separation of powers and rule of law under the watchful eye of a vigilant citizenry, because power corrupts and has a tendency to be concentrated.
IMO, "USA is not a democracy, but a Constitutional Republic" is a bad excuse for 'Muricans' complicity in ceding all sovereignty to a handfull of corrupt and inbred 'elites'. You and your ancestors just haven't been prudent enough and thus allowed Big Business to take over your sovereignty. But I'm not blaming you because you have to face the fact that most democracies around the 'developed world' have been hijacked by similar entities (goto: Deep State) pushing a personal agenda that is different than what the majority wants. Like, for instance, the (dis)respect of people's will resulting from the referendum in Greece a while back... Does that sound familiar? (also consider the concepts of TBTF and QE when answering that to yourself - cui bono and does the majority want them?)
And how long did that last? It sounds good to say, but either one of two things is true - either the constitution authorizes the government we have now, or it is powerless to prevent it. (LS). Those are the only options.
"One of the first victims of the international financiers, shortly after publication of the Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx in 1848, was the Southern civilization of the United States." Eustace Mullins
So long as there are no teeth backing anything like a Constitution up, it will eventually be trampled. The Spartains had an interesting solution to the corruption of one of their public offices. Whomever held it was randomly selected, and at the end of his term, he was automatically put on trial. Imagine a jury trial for every congressman at the end of every term.
Very good Carl, when the Constitution became a "God dam piece of paper" it lost all it's symbolic value, it was weakened of course, but "Goddam piece of paper was the blow that killed it, we were entering a new World and the old ways had to be replaced by 'new' values!
The moment we all understand what we really are, and who is in control, that better we can make valid plans for the future ..
Adam Weishaupt, dismissed from the Jesuit college at Ingolstadt, attracted the fiercer elements of European Rosicrucian Freemasonry into a new secret cult in Bavaria. His “Illuminati,” whose cover was eventually blown in order to convince public opinion that evil secret societies were being diligently unmasked when in fact they were not – was another instance of “blown cover as cover.” Countless other members of the greatest clandestine intelligence agency the world has ever known, now secularized with the jeering approval of its enemies, crossed the Atlantic to help guide Americans through the pains of becoming the first nation expressly designed to be a Febronian, Bellarminian democratic republican Church-State. What an amazing production, all the more impressive for the complete invisibility of its means!

“the Roman Catholic Church really does run the world, including the United States government, and this is openly declared in monuments [1] and emblems and insignia as well as official documents."
[1] I have been to D.C. and the Lincoln Memorial. That was over 25 years ago for my last visit. So in the meantime, I play Fallout 3, and as I walk (virtually) through the Memorial, I look up and around me, why do I get this sense (I have not been to Athens) I'm in the Temple of Zeus; and just who is Lincoln here?
riiiiiiigghht. It's the Pope, or the 3,000 or so Jesuits secretly running the Fed, Pentagon, US media, Treasury, both parties, not to mention the BIS, world bank, imf, etc. etc.
With people like you, the question is whether you're a paid disinfo troll or just stupid.
"the Roman Catholic Church really does run the world, including the United States government"... "What an amazing production, all the more impressive for the complete invisibility of its means!" And "Lincoln is Zeus".
Look - I know it hurts to have our cherished myths crushed, but the American revolution wasn't so much about "liberty" as a bunch of rich Protestants who didn't want to pay their taxes - taxes largely about paying for the costs of the French and Indian wars - which were to "protect" the colonies {from the indigenous people}.
What really happened is the British tactics slowly won over more of the average American - but support for actual independence and revolution was *never*more than half {although around 20% only were hardcore loyalists - lots of fence-sitters}
and CRACKED {which has great shit on history} ~~~~~

"#2. Except for a Few Loyalists, Most Americans Fought for Liberty
Ablestock.com/AbleStock.com/Getty Images
The Myth
Textbooks generally acknowledge the presence of some Loyalists in the Colonies. After all, no matter what your goal is, there's always someone who thinks it's idiotic. Even so, the sentiment for independent America must've been pretty overwhelming. Even allowing for the occasional Benedict Arnold, colonists crazy enough to continue supporting the king despite all the taxes and shit were surely just a ridiculous minority. Right?
Via Wikipedia
Yep. Benedict Arnold was the only one. Suck it, history!
The Reality
Wrong! In fact, the numbers of Colonial and Loyalist supporters were almost even.
The Revolutionary War was every bit as much of a civil war as, well the Civil War. If anything, there was a better chance for brother to be pitted against brother, because unlike the actual Civil War, your side in the conflict didn't depend on what part of the country you lived in. With the Loyalist and Patriot factions, a single street was fully equipped to have a civil war all its own.
It was like WWE's Royal Rumble, except with less genital outlines on the outfits.
In fact, there were not two but three sides: about a third of Americans fought for independence, another third opted for the king's side, and the remaining third didn't give a rat's ass as long as they survived with all appendages intact. Although recent research has revised the figures slightly in favor of the Patriots, that still leaves them in the minority. Yes, Patriots were a minority in America.
Incidentally, these power dynamics also tear down the traditional "Americans were the good guys, save for a few rotten apples" view of the Patriot/Loyalist relationship. Once you realize that back then literally anyone could be the enemy, the Revolutionary War is revealed as the all-out blood feud it actually was. "Good guys" were scarce, and Patriots dealt out at least as much dickitry as they received: Apart from the usual wartime horrors, after the war, at least 60,000 men, women, and children were forcibly cast out of the newly minted nation as refugees.
Meanwhile, Britain was busy trying to help its exiled supporters and, oh yeah, freeing the thousands of African-(ex-)Americans who had supported the losing side."
The take home though is - the American Revolution was initiated by mostly wealthy white protestants who did not want to pay taxes to pay to protect their own colonial borders, afterward, less than 25% of people could vote, the revolution never had the support of a majority, and the Constitution set it up so that the president was ACTUALLY ELECTED BY THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE - and states appointed Senators... not the people of those states [I know some people think the old way was better - it certainly was less democratic is the point here, oh and also, it wasnt better]
Yes Ben Franklin talked about being prohibited from being able to print their own money - but very little to none of the rhetoric had to do with that, at all, and it is clear that the tax issue was much more the motivating factor especially for the merchant class, but also because it raised prices on shit like tea and sugar.
He's simply responding to the topic under discussion which is "democracy." Obama and Putin discuss the nature of a republic would be a different thread.
You're right. Democracy in its purest form is one of the worst forms of government and that's why our Founding Fathers shunned it and gave us a Constitutional Republic instead. If you don't understand the difference, you'd better go back to grade school and pay more attention this time.
I read a bit of history now and then; Thucydides most recently. It is a good reminder that the demagogues, like Pericles, have no problems manipulating opinion much like the MSM of today. Also of note is the clear representation of the democracy of Athens as a tyrant state, which brutalized both enemies and allies in pursuit of it's own agenda.
The pantheon is a rather large library, so let's keep things simple- start with the letter A, and read Politics. It should be obvious which school of thought I am coming from, and exactly which word in the OP I very strenuously object to.
More importantly, if you are actually well read, perhaps you can enlighten the Ameriturd contingent of the peanut gallery as to the fundamental error of their pseudo-reason, as I really tire of their inane desire to rim and teabag the bankers and TPTB during these sorts of discussions, and then turn around and legitimately criticize them the rest of the time.
In the USSA- the house niggers have certainly done their job well, because the illiterate field niggers are terrified of life off the plantation.
There is one area (and really only one area) where the critics of the founding fathers were truthfully correct. The founding fathers were the elite (aristocrats).
I think the term Hegelian dialectic should be banned from ZH, it is apparently too complex a concept for many to grasp even the simplest manifestations of...
There are only three options- rule by one, rule by a few, rule by many (not all).
There is a shocking number of people here who (based on their comments on US presidential canidates and the English monarchy) believe that being the 5th cousin 10 times removed from some long dead monarch makes you one the few...
The elite oligarchs want the debate to be about the function of government, not its form. Why?
The constitution was supposed to create a democracy that was limited as to prevent the loss of individual rights...and it failed.
The wolves have successfully disarmed the sheep and are inviting a new family over for dinner every night.
No document, no form of government, is ever going to convert wolves into sheep. Sheep are left with only one choice.... act like fucking wolves. This is the epitome of multiculturalism, to believe that different species with differing values can coexist for any period of time before one eats the other. Borders define geography, but more importantly culture, as do our laws. But regardless of fences, borders or laws, unless we are willing to fight for our rights....and our lives, WE WILL LOSE THEM.
The Constitution was meant to protect us from the evils of democracy but so few people today even understand the difference between types of government, even politicians seem unable to distinguish between a Democracy and Constitutional Republic. It is not the Constitution that has failed, it is "We the People" who have failed by virtue of our ignorance and apathy.
We don't have democracy in the US, what we have is Tyranny when the supreme court can make laws we have to abide by. These are not even elected by the people
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron." — H. L. Menckenoh so true for the last 7 years..... maybe more....
And your soon to live in Hillville, where you will never smile again. Imagine having to see that witch EVERY fucking day on TV. And that voice will be everywhere, because she loves to hear herself talk.
Not just your President aka hand picked puppet. We should admire Putin more than 99.0% of any leaders in America. I like Sen Jeff Session of AL and one or two others but the vast majority are evil corrupt clowns.
Top to bottom. The entire govt including state and local. All parasites on the taxpayers back. same thing in 99% of politicians in Europe. Maybe a few exceptions like the guy in Hungary trying to stop the invasion and one or two others.
Direct, popular vote for senators put a big nail in the coffin of the Republic. Up til then, the Banksters would have to buy off every state house to own the senate.
"I really enjoyed Putin's interview on 60 minutes. He handled the stupid questions thrown at him very well. What kind of country do I live in that I admire the Russian president much more than my own?"
...and Putin is part of the "game" too so where do we stand again?
The South Korean president is no slouch either. She speaks 3 languages and never uses notes or a teleprompter. When I listen to her, I really feel embarassed for our silly .....? sorry don't know what word to use.
Westerners still know very little about Putin. How many people realize that he is in a similar (even more difficult) position as the Founding Fathers of the USA? He has been trying to create a democratic state virtually out of nothing. Yet, it seems that very slowly, gradually, something is happening in Russia.
Putin begins his purges with a top secret anti-corruption unit nicknamed "Smerch".
According to the sources, "a special group" has direct access to the President and reports personally to the first person of the state about the situation in different regions. A prominent role in this work plays the network of the Popular Front [civic anti-corruption organization founded by Putin]. It has offices in each region and in some places these offices are already quite effective. An example from just one Russian region: Today there are 18 people from Sakhalin behind bars in Moscow, including virtually the entire top of the local government. And according to investigators, this is not the end — under suspicion are at least 12 officials and businessmen of the region. http://fortruss.blogspot.cz/2015/09/putin-begins-his-purges-with-top-sec...
Freedom of speech in Russia? Watch an annoying Russian pro-Western liberal reporter ask Putin VERY tough questions. I can tell you that she is still alive and well:-) and she still has her own TV channel in Russia, but she is hated by most Russians. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6khYWCt1rZ0
It is a conversation going planet-wide. This "democracy" being disguised as rape of rights and propoganda. Time has come for awareness and people with awareness need to demand representation be held accountable.
I am watching the Canadian elections right now. The Harper neocon gov. attempt to put one over one more time...and trying to sneak through TPP BEFORE the election. Heaven help us above the 49th.
You are being manipulated to admire the Russian and to despise the American government. That is how they plan for us to lose an upcoming war that our government decides to get into.
What kind of country do I live in that I admire the Russian president much more than my own?
TPR
Lesson for ya that the likes of Thomas Paine and Sam Adams taught you in the history books that you and everyone else in this insane asylum appears to have forgotten. ...
It's your's to lose and not the "White Chimp" that sits in the Oval Office!!!
So why didn't you do something to fix it before it got to the point you had to say what you just said?!!!
It's always been about YOU bortha and everyone else that makes a passing comment like that!!!!
The love of ZH'ers for Putin is beyond my understanding. I was born and an living in russia and want to say that putin is a fucking thug with no appreciation for anything or anybody besides his gang clan. He might sing nice, but if your judge him by his actions you will find an evil and ignorant kgb officer.
There is no law or justice in the contry. Anyone can easily loose freedom or property if it's in the interest of certain groups. That is the main reason why after 15 years of putin's rein and a long period of very favorable comodity prices the country failed to create any form or high tech industry and why it struggles that badly in the current comodity downturn.
You people do not understand how lucky you are having whatever imperfect democracy that you have in the united states. We in russia don't have even a tiny fraction of that.
Very simply, if you live in North America today you should count yourself lucky (very).
Our way of life, however defined, has changed; but relative to the world we are still very very lucky (i.e. we are not being bombed ...).
At some point we are going to be asked for our loyalties ... Obama may be a joke but you should remember the people behind Obama do not play games nor suffer discontent.
So a new grand consensus is required in North America if we the people are to pledge support ... we simply need the power center to rain down more bread, more fun, more money/opportunity to middle and lower classes (affordable housing would be nice also).
I suspect [but don't know] people may have misunderstood Mr. Dissonance supra...
Agents of Empire is the story of a unique partnership, forged by war and matured in friendship. Brigadier Walter Gribbon, formerly of the King's Own Royal Regiment, after junior staff service in the early stages of the Mesopotamian Campaign of World War 1, was posted to the War Office to serve as a major under Major General George Mcdonogh, the Director of Military Intelligence. Aaron Aaronsohn was a distinguished agronomist working in Palestine, occassionally in the Turkish Administration. He was also a Jew and a Zionist.
Increasingly convinced that a future for his people depended on British support, Aaronsohn and his family offered their services as intelligence agents to the Brirish in Cairo. They were rebuffed. Aaron then journeyed from Damascas to London, where, in October 1916, he met Walter Gribbon. With the support of Zionists such as Mark Sykes and Wyndham Deedes, Gribbon amd Aaronsohn set in train an intelligence operation which greatly helped General Allenby to defeat the Turkish Army in the Levant to give Britain its 'moment' in the Middle East and lay the foundations for a Zionist state.
Bringing together for the first time Gribbon's private papers and Aaronsohn's diaries, in addition to other previously unpublished material, Agents of Empire reveals the extent of British political and strategic support for a Zionist state in the latter part of World War 1.
That's alot of down votes for some obvious truth. While I am happy to see anyone battle the USSA, Putin is not some saint. He's an ex-KGB oligarch who had a position of quasipermanent autocratic authority invented for him after he could not longer legally be PM. Russia is an opennly corrupt neo-feudalistic oligarchy. Most Russians are peasants
How would you assholes feel if the US Congress invented an executive position above the level of president specifically for some hyper-wealthy Langley bastard? Appreciate the resistence to US hegemony, but do not fool yourself into thinking that the enemy of your enemy is your friend.
Are they talking about pancakes?
Obama speaks for the empire, Putin as an upstart wannabe.
Obama teleprompts for a declining bankster led empire while Putin speaks for a world fed up with USSA exceptionalism.
I really enjoyed Putin's interview on 60 minutes. He handled the stupid questions thrown at him very well. What kind of country do I live in that I admire the Russian president much more than my own?
You live in Obamaland. Expect to be surprised and perplexed every day.
What's so great about democracy anyway? Two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner, as the old saying goes. The idea that 50% plus 1 of any group can dictate what I may or may not do and enforce their collective will on me, all under the banner of "the law" is frankly terrifying.
I guess you couldn't keep it
I guess you couldn't keep it
It's not a Democracy unless it follows the letter of a fair and just set of constitutional laws.
We are supposed to be a Constitutional Republic.
And how long did that last? It sounds good to say, but either one of two things is true - either the constitution authorizes the government we have now, or it is powerless to prevent it. (LS). Those are the only options.
And how long did that last?
until 1913
1913
1865, or perhaps only until the Alien and Sedition Act.
Yes, alien and sedition act. Couldn't even make is more than a couple years.

I dunno, didn't Alexander Hamilton frontrun a buncha info to his speculatin' pals?
Alexander Hamilton got his start in the British East India Company, the Goldman Sachs of his time.
Arron Burr, hey man nice shot.
Of course the FFs knew this, that's why there's a Second Ammendment.
The moment we all understand what we really are, and who is in control, that better we can make valid plans for the future ..

Sapere Aude.
To your last question, Jesuists were the forward arm of the east india company to india.
Came to India in the 1600's, used their sly ways to worm their way into a few king's minds.
Slaugtered tens of thousands, cut off tongues, did all the standard conversion shit.
Ignatius (light the fire) Loyola came to India within 15 years of the order's founding. Ponder that.
Jesuits are the soldier's of christ. They have a terrible enough history to not need any anti-jesuit anything...
"the Roman Catholic Church really does run the world, including the United States government"... "What an amazing production, all the more impressive for the complete invisibility of its means!"

What really happened is the British tactics slowly won over more of the average American - but support for actual independence and revolution was *never*more than half {although around 20% only were hardcore loyalists - lots of fence-sitters}

The American Revolution and the Minority Myth
http://www.independent.org/publications/article.asp?id=1398
But "democracy" and "freedom"?
Grow up.
The issue was taxation without representation. How can you not be aware of that?
Democracy is the right faith. It needs to be spread with violence like any true faith.
Nothing says democracy like a .50 cal sniper rifle.
Greens keeper, you talk as tho the US is a democracy!?
He's simply responding to the topic under discussion which is "democracy." Obama and Putin discuss the nature of a republic would be a different thread.
^^^
Exactly what I was going to say.
You forgot the rest of the quote -
“Democracy is two wolves and a sheep, voting on what to eat for dinner;
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.”
Thomas Jefferson
Wrong author ... it was Ben Franklin.
He also said, "“When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.”
which is one of the reasons the republic is dead.
Same shit, different century. Or millennium. Circenses et panem.
Maybe it was Ben - I can't even recall why I thought it was TJ - I did go to public school - so maybe I can blame that.
;-O
You're right. Democracy in its purest form is one of the worst forms of government and that's why our Founding Fathers shunned it and gave us a Constitutional Republic instead. If you don't understand the difference, you'd better go back to grade school and pay more attention this time.
You should study the classics some more before writing such trite tripe.
Demos: the mob
I read a bit of history now and then; Thucydides most recently. It is a good reminder that the demagogues, like Pericles, have no problems manipulating opinion much like the MSM of today. Also of note is the clear representation of the democracy of Athens as a tyrant state, which brutalized both enemies and allies in pursuit of it's own agenda.
The Athenian democracy voted to kill Socrates, mainly because he was asking uncomfortable questions about their gods and religion.
What "classics" are those?
See above.
Why?
It's a noble theory but as it turned our "representatives" are all bums in it for the bribes.
At least with a mob, we might not get fucked on every single issue.
only, though, if you're part of the mob.

Westerners still know very little about Putin. How many people realize that he is in a similar (even more difficult) position as the Founding Fathers of the USA? He has been trying to create a democratic state virtually out of nothing. Yet, it seems that very slowly, gradually, something is happening in Russia.
Putin about Russia's democracy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2SR0oNBUqo
What's not to like about the new Russia? Times are changing.
his response was fine and she put out her views and questions.
what is the problem?
ahmadinijad, spoke well too
It is a conversation going planet-wide.
Why can't they see that? The MSM and controlled opposition alternative media are working a tag team operation.
The banksters are great at producting distractions.

We in russia don't have even a tiny fraction of that.
on the surface it appears to be that way, yes.
but deep down dont they both work for the same boss?
International Banksters have all the plutocrats by the short hairs.

It is really that simple.

You really don't know much about Russians, do you?
