The thing that stood out to me during Obama's U.N speech was that he sounded like a little bitch pointing fingers and casting blame. Putin, in contrast outlined the scenario we are in and what he thought needed to be done. I'm not a Putin fan, he's another statist in my view, but it's hard not to acknowledge the fact that he's clearly a leader and Obama is out of his league.
Ya that's pretty much what I've been saying since all this started. I greatly enjoy watching Putin make these idiots squirm, and he is an impressive fellow, much more so than some community organizer. But, as you said, he is still a hardcore statist and authoritarian and I wouldn't want him ruling over me.
