Caught On Tape: Dramatic Footage Of Russia's First Airstrikes In Syria

Tyler Durden's picture

As we reported earlier this morning, at the “request” (whatever that means in the context of Russian politics) of Vladimir Putin, Russian lawmakers have approved airstrikes in Syria and unlike the rather deliberate pace of Washington’s efforts to rout ISIS, Moscow doesn’t appear to be wasting any time.

As CNN reports, Russia has conducted its first strikes near Homs after effectively warning the US to stay out of the sky.

Russia has conducted its first airstrike in Syria, near the city of Homs, a senior U.S. official told CNN on Wednesday .

The Russians told the United States that it should not fly U.S. warplanes in Syria, but gave no geographical information about where Russia planned to strike. The senior official said U.S. missions are continuing as normal.

Yes, the “US missions are continuing as normal”, which means no one is doing much of anything and some CIA-trained proxy fighters are being pick-up-truck-jacked somewhere by al-Qaeda.

In any event, here are the visuals which purport to show Russia’s first strikes on anti-regime targets:

And a few still shots:

*  *  *

As a side note, Homs is not generally identified as being an ISIS stronghold, although the group did reportedly seize Al-Qaryatain in August:

And the Pentagon is already out trying to stir up the controversy (again via CNN):

But a senior U.S. administration official told CNN's Elise Labott the Russian airstrike near the city of Homs "has no strategic purpose" in terms of combating ISIS, which "shows they are not there to go after ISIL." ISIL is another acronym for ISIS.

Whatever the reality of who is shooting at whom, one thing is evident : the game in ME is eminently POLITICAL and not moral.

For the West the enemy is : ISIS ! Not those other who are "moderates".

For the Russians the enemy is the enemy of the legitimate government who called them to help them; the Assad Alawite regime : That enemy is not only ISIS but those Al Nusra type "moderate" rebels who in fact are armed by the Saud/US alliance.

US : You are shooting at our friends. These are not ISIS

Putin :  I am shooting at those who fight the legitimate regime. And I am not sure they are not "Jihadists"; the J word for "terrorists".

"No no no....thats not ISIS"
"Yes yes yes ...that is ALSO the enemy. And we will make that circle larger as we wipe out the inner ring first."

We are in a Ukraine type situation. WHo are the "bad" guys and who are the "good" guys?

To each his own. TO make matters worse, Turkey bombs as well the Kurds!

Syrac is now "Star Wars" territory!

Meanwhile, the number of innocent dead keeps mounting up !

And we watch this dystopia in Taliban Afghan ( Kunduz), as in Syrac, all the while we watch the refugee problem in EU, now neck and neck with VW and the Greek problem as to which is the worst threat to Euro zone

What a mad horse race!

Now that Russia has admitted to intervening directly militarily in other countries, I hope Putin gets the same treatment that Obama has been taking for months.

hey stupid fuck - the government of that country ASKED Russia to come help them against the foreign mercenary army armed and supplied and given logistical assistance by the US, very much by Israel {we will hear more on that soon...} and Turkey and SA.

How many foreign countries must the US bomb, how many governments must it overthrow, how blatant must its support for Zionist and takfiri terrorism be before people like you wake up?

You are a NUTCASE! Obama, the communist, was not asked by the Syrian government to come in and bomb the hell out of their citizens. Assad did not ask Obama to use chemical agents against the Syrian people and blame it on the Assad government. Now Obama will finish out the term getting bitch slapped by an army equal to the strength of the United States and there is nothing the monkey can do about it. I hope Russia kills every terrorist organization in Syria. The proxy army strategy of the United States is now officially over. Who knows, maybe we the people of the United States will revolt in the future with the help of our friends the Russians.

Calm yourself down.

Russia has just stated that ISIS in Iraq has components for WMD's.   In chicken little style.

They have screamed the fact.  Now they will need and be granted Boots on the ground to rout out the vipers.

Check and mate.  Murica Mercs are going home in pieces.

Yeah but where we excel is the Hessians. Hiring enough "foreign fighters" to hold weapons -- or outright pipeline them to the enemy -- has always been our spooks' strong suit.

For criminal putin & assad regimes it’s only logical to attack first assads opposition and kill them first. Because if ISIS would be dealt with first than still assads opposition is in place and there is no benefit from whole war. But if criminal putin regime lies just like in Ukraine & Georgia only this time say that putin regime attacked ISIS and not assad regime opposition than some idiots will still believe in putin regime as being savior of ISIS but when smoke will be gone and result will be seen that actually putin regime has killed assad opponents than nothing else except ISIS will be there. But West is also agains ISIS and wants to stop them. So there won’t be any conflicts of interest.

Only it’s tragically for simple civiliansman, women, children, elders – that just like in Ukraine, Georgia now in Syria will be slaughtered by criminal putin & assad regimes.

32 civilians killed as Russia launches first airstrikes in Syria, claims Syrian journalist [Video]

Within hours after getting permission from its Parliament - the Federation Council, Russia reportedly carried out its first airstrikes in Syria against rebels on Wednesday. However, a Syrian journalist claimed that 32 civilians, not militants were killed in the Russian bombing.

As per confirmed reports from Syria, Russian SU 24 carried out airstrikes on rebel-controlled, Hama area on Wednesday afternoon, Kurdish news channel Slemani Times reported.

least two SU 24 fighter jets were involved in the attack on the target rebel positions in Hama, located 213 km north of Damascus and 46 kilometres north of Homs.

Al Nusra militants are the main targets of the attacks, reports said.  A US official confirmed to BBC that Russia has launched its first airstrikes in Syria. There also has been reports that groups opposed tp the Assad regime such as FSA were the main targets.

Local news websites citing rebel sources said that the airstrikes were carried out in Al-Lataminah village. Russian defence ministry later in the day said that airstrikes were targeting military equipment, communications and arms depots belonging to rebels, according to Interfax.

A Syrian journalist, Ibrahim Aladalba reportedly told sources that no militants were killed. At least 32 civilians lost their lives, Aladalba said.

The airstrike came hours after the Russian Parliament on Monday morning in a closed-door meeting approved Putin's request to engage its air force. Parliament granted Vladimir Putin permission to use the Russian air force to carry out bombing raids in Syria, The Guardian reported.

Earlier this week, six more jets, part of Russia's lethal SU-35 fighter squadron, arrived in Syria. As per multiple reports, at least 48 Russian fighter jets and attack helicopters are already in Syria.

Kremlin that has for long remained a strong ally of the Syria regime under president Bashar al-Assad, besides helping the country with military aid, is also building a massive military base in Latakia.

Even as Putin told UN in New York that Russia would not carry out ground operations in Syria,  The Telegraph reported last week that at least 500 Russian troops are already in the city of Latakia and the adjacent port of Tartous on Syria's Mediterranean coast.

Look, Mr. Message, I realize you have only graced our presence for 3 weeks, so perhaps you don't realize that readers and commenters here seek news from many sources.

It is impossible to really understand what is going on in the world if all you get is news from the controlled American media.  If you doubt that, you should shut up for a while while you learn.

Are you afraid of 'outside sources' questioning American propaganda?  Try it sometime.  With a little practice, you too may be able to recognize bullshit when someone sticks your nose in it.

Now take a look at the following video, that shows some of the targets being attacked by the Russian warplanes.

Although we are unable to ID the weapons used against these targets it looks like that either the targeting pod was aiming somewhere else or the attack missed its target: the first part of the footage (most probably filmed from a targeting pod or maybe a drone) shows shrapnels from a bomb possibly exploded south of the target; the second part shows the same target and other shrapnels, but you can also clearly see the blast of a bomb at the bottom of the scene; the third one shows bombs (2 or 3) seemigly missing their target by several meters.

you're surprised that an unguided bomb misses a target when it's Russia, 5 minutes into the theater, but not surprised that Ukraine and Israel routinely bomb civilian apartmnet buildings, power stations and the like with the best laser-guided munis Uncle Sugar can provide?

IAF must 'invest a lot' to overcome Russian S-300 missiles, says former air force official

http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/IAF-must-invest-a-lot-to-overcome-S-300...

translation: more money from the goyim via Uncle Sugar

"Asked if he thought Israel should risk conflict by intercepting potential future shipments of the S-300 from Iran to Syria or Lebanon, Agmon said he could only refer to statements made by official Israeli representatives, who have clearly said that if the systems arrive in Syria, Israel will attack them. "

Attack them?

I wish a nigga *would*....

Historically, Israel does not do that well against opponents who can fight back, or who aren't fleeing crowds of women and children, or who aren't laying in hospitals, etc.

Alright, the headline reads thus:

Caught On Tape: Dramatic Footage Of Russia's First Airstrikes In Syria

I watched the four videos. In all videos I don't see one plane. I do hear something, that could be a rocket attack or artillery.

If we could see a plane in any of these videos, could we determine that 1) the plane is Russian (or Russian made); 2) It has a Russian insignia on it (a red star); 3) It is piloted by a Russian (at the very least, it is a 2-seater, with a Russian in the back seat, and a Syrian in the front seat. call it OJT.)

None of what is presented via CNN and other un-named sources squares with the following. That is someone who actually traveled to Syria, by invitation, who has multiple diplomatic passports. Who had an audience with the Grand Mufit. That is the principle adviser to Assad. The Grand Mufti having already lost a son in this war thus far ..

http://www.veteranstoday.com/2015/09/29/vts-secret-mission-to-syria/

Now, if we wish to post more convincing sources and video, then let's at least post this (unconfirmed) ..

http://www.veteranstoday.com/2015/09/30/israel-lies-debunked-russia-rele...

http://www.veteranstoday.com/2015/09/30/israeli-russian-threat-hoax-push...

The Russian Federation and Syria have been treaty allies since before the end of the USSR. The RF has every obligation to help defend an ally, if that ally does in fact request help. If these airstrikes are true and further confirmed, as principally conducted by the RF, then we do have evidence of a proxy war in Syria conducted between the RF against IDF/Mossad, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, NATO/Bush-CIA/Bush-DoD, et al ..
