Presenting A First-Hand Look Inside Russia's Forward Operating Base In Syria

Tyler Durden's picture

When the first reports began to trickle in regarding a possible Russian military buildup at Bashar al-Assad’s seaside stronghold at Latakia, the scramble to “prove” that forces from Moscow had indeed arrived in Syria led directly to a string of conflicting reports and grainy satellite images purporting to detail the scope of Russia’s involvement.

As the weeks went by, and as rumors of a Russian presence were confirmed by The Kremlin, the world became even more fascinated by the idea that Moscow has officially launched an air war in a foreign country. Indeed, Russia’s overt involvement on behalf of the Assad regime marks a change of strategy for Putin, who has been careful to dispel accusations that his forces are directly involved in the fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Now that Russia has officially commenced combat operations, Moscow is wasting no time showing off its new staging ground. For those curious to know what a Russian forward operating base in a Middle Eastern warzone looks like, we present the following clip from RT:

Q. What ever happened to the good old days of napalm?

A. Colonel Kurtz decided that 5th-generation exothermic/barothermic weaponry would be better deployed in Ukraine (while you were not looking). 'Napalm' is so, well, '1960's' technology, Zippy. I wonder if an 'LRAD'-equipped vehicle can get close enough to disable these weapons (A. NO!).

The problem for the F22 is that it was designed just before the biggest advances in computers, so its computer control systems are a bit obsolete. This supposedly is the big reason it was discontinued and all the effort/money invested in the far superior F35 (joke)

Seriously though, in this case, procrastination in finalizing the computer control system wins the day, so the newer Russian fighter has at least the potential for being quite a bit better.

For half the cost of a Boeing 747, the F-22 seems to be a great fighter if it does not ever have to get in a real dogfight. I think you could do better with an air-conditioned trailer on the ground and a couple of way cheaper purpose-built drones.

Have you heard the tale of Icarus?

There was this old Greek-time dude, who thought he could revive dead eagle wings by coating them with beeswax. It worked (kind of), and he built a flying suit; but he flew up too high, and the sun melted the wax.

SPLAT!

Did you know that the highest number of injuries and fatalities (non-war-related; extenally caused) happen from people who slip and fall while taking showers? I am currently in the early stages of inventing a 'shower drone' that takes human fallibility 'out-of-the-loop'. A remotely-controlled 'copter dumps a mix of water and soap on the human subject while they lay prone on the bathroom floor (especially helpful for old people who have 'fallen, and can't get up'; and fatties who weigh more than 300 pounds and are too lazy to get up).

DAMN those 'shower-takers', self-piloting the soap and water!

Q. (in all seriousness)

When in an automobile, would you trust a self-driving car with your LIFE?

As per your 'Youtube' link, I think that one of the comments I read is SUPERLATIVE. Here's a quote:

"For every hour and half of flight airplane produces critical failure and requires 30h maintenance fix, this sounds like my BMW."

The Russians use drogue parachutes because they haven't yet rigged up arrestor cables on this extremely short, poorly-paved runway in fracking SYRIA (where a Cessna 152 is considered 'state-of-the-art'; equipped with a 'high-power' supercharged Lycoming 4-cylinder engine AS WELL as the newest advancement in TRICYCLE landing gear, as opposed to the older 'tail-dragger' design).

Yeah, you're a wannabe fighter expert/aircraft expert DUMBASS.

Q. WHY doesn't the F-22 'Raptor' come equipped with drogue chutes?

A. Because they don't need them, as they plow into the ground after being shot down. The Pentagram MIC calls this technological breakthrough a 'VERY, VERY short landing' (unlike the incident at Shanksville, PA. back in september 2001, where the airplane was shot down and scattered over two counties, in an 8-mile swath of debris).

City of London people LOVE BMW's. Fucking ignorant and stupid motherfuckers...

I think you should change YOUR avatar to reflect Jane Standley as she stood live reporting on the collapse of the 'Salomon Brothers' building (as it stood in the background). You sound just like her (an ignorant cunt being fed lines from her handlers).

Both the F-22 and F-35 were not designed for combat. They were designed for a high cost to push taxpayer money into the MIC.

Come combat time they won't keep up with robust aircraft that are actually designed for combat.

Not to mention the fact Russian AA can shoot down f-22s and f-35 like shooting fish in a barrel.

Won't come down to that tho because for all its tough talk the US conmen in charge are a bunch of pussies that were just called on their bluff. Maybe they will send Putin some strongly worded letters.

Its probably even simpler than that. Supposedly, the F117 was detected because it left an EM signature anomaly within a grid of cell phone towers. Signal processing has gone a long way with modern computers as fast and parallel as they are these days...

Safer for elites to have several camps duking it out between each other as they play them all, forever. That is the way it always has been and will be. It is the way of man.

An all powerful governing body has too many dangers and too many uncertainties for those at the top. A dynamic world is in actuality much more predictable and safer for them.

Choice and options mean power. You can have all the riches in the world but they mean nothing without choice.

Well, since it's on youtube, you can be sure Russia knows where every rivet in an F22 is.  They've probably already hacked the plans from the DOD contractors and have it all under control.  After all, it was the Russians (Kapersky Labs) that discovered the root virus planted in the hard drives by major manufacturers.  Russia: First in space, defeated the best that Germany could throw at them in WWII after losing a 1/4 of their geography. I would simply state you should not underestimate the Russians.

Just because there a nut jobs who use a book, any book by the way, to control people, advance their agenda, does not make the book in itself untrue. There are as many whack jobs in the military who don't give a rats ass about the bible or Koran as there are religious fanatics.

Something that I've rarely seen anyone pick up from the Bible, religious and non-religious alike, is the tendency of men to want to be God. And more specifically, that this relates to man wanting to add an subtract moral laws as he goes. Some did this claiming to be representing God, many did it in opposition. What we see today is no different.

There are as many men mentioned in the Bible who try to create exceptions for themselves or glorify themselves (often claiming it's a service to God... not!) as there are righteous men mentioned. Whether you want to read this as a spiritual or simply historical matter, this should give you pause.

For the specific question, I will hold to what Jesus said, namely that "the end" is going to take most everyone by surprise.

Well I agree with you that this some "biblical shit" going on right in front of our eyes, you have your prophecies mixed up. This is more reminiscent of Daniel's prophecy about the King of the North and the King of the South engaging in a pushing against each other in the time of the end. To be clear it does not say that either King meets his end due to the other King. Gog of Magog refers to a coalition of nations who launch an attack on gods people, led by the King of the North. These then meet their end at by Gods hand, not due to any earthly forces.

EXCLUSIVE-Strategika 51: Six Russian multirole fighter Sukhoi SU-30 SM type have put to flight-type Israeli fighters McDonnell Douglas F-15 off the Syrian coast.

Israeli aircraft flying for months Syrian airspace and especially Naval Air Station Latakia bridgehead of Russian forces in Syria. Israeli aircraft generally follow a fairly complex flight plan and approach Latakia from the sea

In the night of 1 to 2 October 2015, six Russian Sukhoi SU-30 took off from SM Syrian airbase Hmimim towards Cyprus before intercepting position attack four Israeli F-15 fighters.

Surprised by a situation as unexpected and probably not prepared for a dogfight with one of the best Russian multirole fighter, Israeli pilots have quickly turned back to the south, flying at high speed Lebanon.

The Lebanese army has officially announced to Z 2313 (local time) that four "enemy aircraft" (Israeli) had crossed the Lebanese airspace.

This "incident" between Russian and Israeli warplanes struck stupor command of the Israeli Air Force, which held that a possible air battle between the Israeli F-15 and the Russian Su-30 would have led to the destruction of four Israeli aircraft. Israel has strongly protested to Moscow this incident but the Russians demanded an explanation for the presence of Israeli fighter planes full Syrian airspace. This incident indicates that the protection of Syrian airspace is now under the protection of the Russian air force. Causing gnashing of teeth in Washington.

The incident was ignored by the major news agencies but political and media relay of Israel in the United States, Europe and the Arab world will strengthen efforts to demonize Russian support to the Syrian government.

U.S., allies demand Russia halt Syria strikes outside IS areas

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/10/02/us-mideast-crisis-syria-airstr...

Russia bombed Syria for a third day on Friday, mainly hitting areas held by rival insurgent groups rather than the Islamic State fighters it said it was targeting and drawing an increasingly angry response from the West.

The U.S.-led coalition that is waging its own air war against Islamic State called on the Russians to halt strikes on targets other than Islamic State.

"We call on the Russian Federation to immediately cease its attacks on the Syrian opposition and civilians and to focus its efforts on fighting ISIL," said the coalition, which includes the United States, major European powers, Arab states and Turkey.

"We express our deep concern with regard to the Russian military build-up in Syria and especially ‎the attacks by the Russian Air Force on Hama, Homs and Idlib since yesterday which led to civilian casualties and did not target Daesh," it said.

ISIL and Daesh are both acronyms for Islamic State, also known as ISIS, which has set up a caliphate across a swathe of eastern Syria and northern Iraq.

In Syria, the group is one of many fighting against Russia's ally, President Bashar al-Assad. Washington and its Western and regional allies say Russia is using it as a pretext to bomb other groups that oppose Assad. Some of these groups have received training and weapons from Assad's foreign enemies, including the United States.

President Vladimir Putin held frosty talks with France's Francois Hollande in Paris, Putin's first meeting with a Western leader since launching the strikes two days after he gave an address to the United Nations making the case to back Assad.....
