Russia Claims ISIS Now On The Ropes As Fighters Desert After 60 Airstrikes In 72 Hours

Tyler Durden's picture

One question that’s been asked repeatedly over the past thirteen months is why Washington has been unable to achieve the Pentagon’s stated goal of “degrading and defeating” ISIS despite the fact that the “battle” pits the most advanced air force on the planet against what amounts to a ragtag band of militants running around the desert in basketball shoes.

Those of a skeptical persuasion have been inclined to suggest that perhaps the US isn’t fully committed to the fight. Explanations for that suggestion range from the mainstream (the White House is loathe to get the US into another Mid-East war) to the “conspiratorial” (the CIA created ISIS and thus doesn’t want to destroy the group due to its value as a strategic asset).

The implication in all of this is that a modern army that was truly determined to destroy the group could likely do so in a matter of months if not weeks and so once Russia began flying sorties from Latakia, the world was anxious to see just how long the various rebel groups operating in Syria could hold up under bombardment by the Russian air force.

The answer, apparently, is “less than a week.”

On Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defense said it has conducted 60 bombing runs in 72 hours, hitting more than 50 ISIS targets.

According to the ministry (Facebook page is here), Islamic State fighters are in a state of “panic” and more than 600 have deserted.

Here's what happens when the Russians locate a terrorist "command center":

According to The Kremlin, the structure shown in the video is (or, more appropriately, "was") "an ISIS hardened command centre near Raqqah." Su-34s hit it with concrete-piercing BETAB-500s setting off a series of explosions and fires that "completely destroyed the object."

Here's RT:

Surgical airstrikes by Russian fighter jets have knocked out a number of Islamic State installations in Syria, including the battle headquarters of a jihadist group near Raqqa, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.

“Over the past 24 hours, Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-24M fighter jets have performed 20 sorties and hit nine Islamic State installations,” Igor Konashenkov, Russia’s Defense Ministry spokesman, reported.

Konashenkov added that yesterday evening Russian aircraft went on six sorties, inflicting strikes on three terrorist installations.

“A bunker-busting BETAB-500 air bomb dropped from a Sukhoi Su-34 bomber near Raqqa has eliminated the command post of one of the terror groups, together with an underground storage facility for explosives and munitions,” the spokesman said.

Commenting on the video filmed by a Russian UAV monitoring the assault near Raqqa, Konashenkov noted, “a powerful explosion inside the bunker indicates it was also used for storing a large quantity of munitions.

“As you can see, a direct hit on the installation resulted in the detonation of explosives and multiple fires. It was completely demolished,” the spokesman said.

And here's the Russian Defense Ministry taking a page out of the US Postal Service's "neither rain, sleet, snow, nor hail" book on the way to serving notice that nothing is going to stop the Russian air force from exterminating Assad's enemies in Syria:

Twenty-four hours a day #UAV's are monitoring the situation in the ISIS activity areas. All the detected targets are effectively engaged day and night in any weather conditions.

Now obviously one must consider the source here, but Kremlin spin tactics aside, one cannot help but be amazed with the pace at which this is apparently unfolding. If any of the above is even close to accurate, it means that Russia is on schedule to declare victory over ISIS (and everyone else it looks like) in a matter of weeks, which would not only be extremely embarrassing for Washington, but would also effectively prove that the US has never truly embarked on an honest effort to rid Syria of the extremist groups the Western media claims are the scourge of humanity.

Summed up in 10 priceless seconds...

From a ZH content post yesterday.

But their very first strikes in the region hit CIA-backed anti-Assad rebel forces, Arizona Republican John McCain, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said Thursday on CNN's "New Day."

Pitching PR, selling arms to, or intervening in anyway, in a foreign internal  sovereign dispute, even if DoS / CIA NGOs got it going, is treason.

But, ya gotta love a putz that can shit in a toilet, and still, almost land 80% of the turds inside the bowel, especially when da putz be de one and only and mostest famous “Songbird McKane”, Wet starting US Sailer Killer and US AirCraft Carrier Destroyerer.

Wet Starting, as any psych 101 prof will almost certainly cite during the chapter on Skinner, is claimed as an indicator of an “anal fixation”, and “wet farting” is what de Kane did to lube his puckered cloacl so satiated Kong’s, who rarely enjoyed an opportunity to pork a pudgy fudge packing bunz up and kneeling, whimpering cow like the Kane, would, once his deliriously shameless alimentary “wet started, err farted” output vacuole drained them commie flesh hammers into submission, let Kane go  get ticker taped on 50th and Lex, while de guys he didn’t “end” on the Forestal, and didn’t play lil beau peep with the kong dung hole  dong's, had to stay.

Rumor has it that the Kane has little love letters from his Kong Dong Shovers at the Hanoi Hilton tied in a lacy ribbon, hidden in his hope chest.

Using his POW experience, Kane got back into bidness of “bunz up and kneeling” (again) as a Keating 5 carney barker belching ruse of law on the DC midway.

Now our man in AZ wears his frillies backwards for the CIA, err ..Isis (.. not to be confused with the myth-ed Bird Headed player in the Egyptian Book of the Dead) and a rekindled fondness for posing for selfies with the CIA goat humping crew who still don’t know they got sloppy seconds, or thirds, or fourths, or infinity.. (and need a case dragon lotion K&Y to get off) cause the wet fart days had faded years earlier.

Maybe the Kane defends Isis and wanes their love muscles cause he’s having a hard time finding car bombers to do a little wet work in Arizona every once in a while.

From pouting his choclate wormhole for CIA mass murderers in Syria, to blushing again. for same, by spotting his undies with DoS paid Ukrainian mass murderers’ dragon schnapps.

But is that the real reason the Kane complains the Ruskies are MDK-ing US School of the Americas trained ALKADA guys, because car bombers are getting harder and harder (don't frenzy on me Kane) to find, or, is it that “rush blush” before he stains his jockey’s, after the dragon spews it’s phlegm where the sun don’t shine?

To the Kane, ya can't have it both ways, well maybe the Kane can. Take it in the double secret,  then go down until the tonsils cackle! It all makes sense to me now. Guess the Kane can have it both ways, simultaneously - what'a guy!

Inquiring minds want to know!

hi Adam , great analysis on the Syrian refugees situation.. amen fist bump
about the Russian air strikes , ISIS is taking a beating on every front
, more than 40 strikes so far , and somebody isn't happy about it apparently
I read many articles saying that the US is demanding a proof from Russia

that the airstrikes are targeting ISIS ..(just Wow)
still trying to obfuscate the idea that there are only two teams
fighting on the ground : the Syrian army vs ISIS and other jihadist groups.
a lot of concentration in the western media on criticizing the Russian
strikes on the city of "Homs", why? because some of the VERY FEW oil
fields that are still under the government's control are located east of
the city kilometers away from ISIS (where the coalition never targeted
as it happens) , they see it as an empowerment of the Syrian regime and
they'd prefer ISIS there to the Syrian army.
anywayS we're seeing a progress electricity & fuel wise by the hour
because of that, besides securing Homs's surroundings would make the
connection between Damascus, Lattakia & Aleppo much safer and would
result more military advances west to east till actually "degrading" ISIS.

Unfortunately, it might be quite the opposite.  That just means people will see this as a need for increased funding because our military is outdated beaten by a "rag tag" army...

That could be true, as I didn't see any old Russian plumbers' trucks, conveniently placed in the hands of ISIS, now in use.... lmao.

There is no "further funding" required, because the truth is the "funding" was created from thin air by having the highly responsible privilege of being the global reserve currency, which has been horribly abused and which is why the US is being shown to be wholly corrupt and in complete desperation as it falls.

That is kinda true, if you are "connected" like the orange jump suit dude in your avatar, or hillary, or trump.  If those people are involved, they can indeed print unlimited money to fund infinite killing brown people on the otherside of the world, for the purpose of maintaining the global reserve currency.

Indeed, America relied to much on it's technologie and has to many internal interests not to solve problems.

Even if America would be attacked, shit would hoppelessly spiral out of control with leaders like the US now has and would most probably lose.

It's Barbarians at the gate of Rome Version 2.0 right now for America and it's 5 minutes after 12 o'clock.

For the comming election, nothing will and can be done as a last means to rescue America as there's no public interest for it.

Everybody keeps on believing that America is what it used to be and is still all powerfull and that's what will turn it into a banana republic broking in 50 pieces that will eventually fight each other.

America isn't a united states anymore and hasn't been for over 2 decades.

This Russian event will go into the history books as where the first American failure and weakness was exposed to the world.

America is broke and lazy and Russia and China have officially taken over.

I wouldn't be surprised that after Russia's victory over ISIS that Europe will fold and join their side against America.

And once America breaks down economicly, rest assured that it will only take weeks before international observers sweep in and dismantle it's militairy systems and it's nuclear arsenal leaving it as just another piece of land broken up under rule of different dictators.

Can't disagree.  Only argue about the details (which would be pointless since none of us know anyhow - lol).

The balance of power in the world is shifting again.  And as the Tylers keep pointing out, reserve currency status does not last forever.

What I will offer on TOP of this is for anyone to google a historical human population growth chart and tell me if they don't see a problem.  The US is ancient Rome squared.  It is the next Soviet Union except the US is not resillient like the Soviets.  I could go on, but it won't change anything.  It will just add more evidence and indicate further how nasty a future we face in the US.

While I see a lot of older guys who truly have not a fucking clue about anything - there are many of us who will get down right nasty if someone tries to invade here.

I have always said that the coasts would probably bend over and like it - but once you get by there - look out, thats where an invader is going to start running into some problems. After that, we push out and take our coasts back, so in the long run - the invaders would be doing us a favor.

Foreign invasion and conquest would not be a matter of changing faces in power and shaking out the bureaucracy. It would not especially mean liberation. They may decide to take booty and restructure the social order into a slave society with no freedoms whatsoever.

As somebody pointed out somewhere in one of the ZH threads, there seems to be a push to make people migrate internally as well as across borders. Sounds like a page from the Assyrian or Babylonian playbook. That worked well to prevent subsequent uprisings.

Sudden you do not understand the game as many commenters do not get it.  The goal was to never destroy ISIS and its ancillary organizations.  The goal is to keep the USA in a protracted war.  Why?  Many economists including Krugmamm think the last depression ended because of WWII.

If the USA wanted to drop those same bombs they would, but alas we prefer to use the newest and latest MIC toys.  Kinda sorta like the Air Force wanting to get rid of the A-10 Warthog.  A great ground support aircraft that can take a beating.  The Air Force does not want pilots to support the ground troops be it Army or Marine.  They have sold this and previous administrations on the use of drones.  The politicians have bought it lock, stock, and barrel.  You see drones turn war into a video game.

Just like the drone attack in Afghanistan today killing innocent civilains and calling it collateral damage.  There are no eyes on the ground anymore.  This is what politicians think war is like, especially when they never served in a war.  Generals and Admirals sell politicians the latest and most expesive schemes to garner money to pay for them.  Those high ranking officers that disagreed with this administration were relieved of duty. Do you think the patreaus thing just happened?   This is just a demonstration of that failure.  Of course our government will not see it that way.

Notice how Russia has put troops on the ground and Iran is sending troops.  They know from thier fiasco in Afghanistan you must have troops on the ground to hold real estate.  We just like before 9/11 are relying on technology to win and forget the human side of things.  Do I want our troops over there HELL NO!  But if you are going to actually war  on another coutnry you must be prepared to win.  Americans worry more about political correctness then trying to win anything anymore and that will be our undoing.  Give the masses more handouts along with corporations and the MIC and bingo you have a winner.

Many here probably fought in a war or two and war is ugly the last time the USA actually won one was IRAQ the first time.  We almost won Vietnam except just like today our heart is not in it nor should it be.  The USA needs to get out of the Middle East.  What concerns me more then anything else Sudden is a clash that sparks the exchange of nukes.  This is so dangerous right now no one should be thumping their chests.

Those bunker buster bombs are low tech and Russia had eyes on the ground and a laser guiding the bomb to its location.   Something we did at one time.  The troops on the ground had the ultimate decision to call the fire mission, not some dick in a bunker inthe USA. Now it is called collateral damage, we should be ashamed of this and Bush as well.  High dollar, high tech toys, we the taxpayers are footing the bills for needs to stop.  Turning war into a video game will not win a thing and war is nasty business and needs to stay that way.  Otherwise going to war with the newest toys is going to cause a nuclear exchange.

Exactamundo. I think the decades of US education and full MSM control of the narrative have had the pernicious side effect of turning the average American into an autistic zombie who would be completely unable to serve as a forward air control spotter (but of course would make a great drone pilot completely oblivious to the reality on the ground caused by those puffs of smoke that occur after the ordnance is released).

Besides, toys like the F35 suck up all the money that would be needed to create and support such a group.

Its just so much easier to do bombing from an airconditioned bunker and get the MSM full spectrum control of the narrative to mop up any messes later - accidental or not.

After all, if it doesn't show up on CNN, did it happen at all?

Won't be necessary. This is just a Russian expeditionary force. Imagine if the real Russian Army did enter Ukraine. I'm sure everyone in Kiev has access to this object lesson in how Russia rolls up US proxies when they get around to it.

Russians are slow to saddle up, but once they do, they ride fast.

Just as you say, these are US interests - the US never actually tried to take them out. They were supposed to take out Assad and ended up taking big chunks of Iraq. Our Brainy Dupes in the CIA still thought they would take out Assad, so yes the US flew sorties, but didn't drop anything and i'm guessing were under orders maybe to take out an old shack here and there, but nothing more - all under the guise of minimising civilian casualties! What a bunch of shit! As an American I have to say i am so sick of our leaders fucking lying everytime a microphone is shoved in their face! I have seen an expert who has lived in Beirut for years or perhaps decades (Robert Fisk?) say on TV that the destruction of Palmyra could have easily been prevented. The ISIS units who marched towards Palmyra would have marched through the desert where they could not hide; i.e. sruveillance would have known at any time where they were and could have taken them out easily.

"They' had no intention to destroy ISIS. What they apparently wanted was complete and permanent chaos so they could come in and do in Syria whatever they wanted.  But like in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya it would not have worked like they planned it.

I wonder if Russia will gather evidence in Syria & Iraq regarding US war crimes and it's duplicitous support for ISIS in the region. They may be able to make a legal case to charge individuals in the MIC and admin officials and demand a perp walk to an International Court. If that is too unrealistic, at least the evidence could be presented in the court of public opinion.

Sun, 10/04/2015 - 14:07 | 6628612 avd

This is not realistic. Russia will not even try to make a case that is set to fail in the Western-run International Court. Russia will only help those who 1) plea for a help 2) ready to pay their share of the price like Assad's forces do or like Donbass people do or like South Ossetians did. Russia has no resources to play Superman saving the whole world from all kinds of evil.

'Is it possible, is it even conceivable that the Jews, by sheer weight of their influence alone, could unleash a world war? It is probably unbelievable, and yet this is exactly what has happened three times in the course of the last half century, in 1900, with the Transvaal war, in 1917, with the entrance of the Americans into the war on the side of the Allies, and in 1939, with the commencement of the Second World War.

In this chapter I am simply going to deal with the case of the entry of the United States into the First World War in 1917 on the side of the Allies, and I will show that this contention rests on solid proof.'

Putin degrades ISIS in 72 hours after US had been bombing it for 13 months - as if you needed more proof that ISIS was made in USA

ISIS: The jihadist movement stamped “Made in America”

The fact remains, however, that the US, the major European powers, and their regional allies all previously lent financial, military and political support to ISIS and similar groups, which have “Made in the USA” stamped all over them. They have, until now, played a significant part in Washington’s efforts to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, as part of a broader effort to gain control of the region’s vast energy resources and transit routes.

Latest breaking news is that the US military now admits that Russia has created a "No Fly Zone" over Syria. It is assumed that S-400 and it's radars are now deployed both at Sea on Russian Warships, and perhaps even on land. The latest Russian radars are working and the USA can not even detect IF they are Russian radars. Read below from a Russian News site in translation!

I would add, if all the below is true, then Russia has called NATO out in a big way! This is a huge story, but I warn you, I can't confirm it for 100%.

"General Breedlove believes that "very complex air defense system" deployed by Russia in Syria is aimed not against the "Islamic state", which does not have aviation.

"They are against someone else," said the commander of the NATO forces in Europe.

A source in military circles of the American military in Turkey reported that NATO aircraft, trying to get close to the forces of the Russian Federation, has been identified by radar, and the source of the radar could not even be traced.

"The Russians have indicated that they can see everything, and getting closer is not worth it, otherwise it will be shot down", - said the American military.

"Frankly we were surprised by the air defense system of Russia, most likely there are the latest systems S-400. I have no other ideas," - said Colonel Jack Jacobs.

About Russians creating a no-fly zone over Syria also writes Bloombeg, citing a senior American military officer. The commander of the NATO forces in Europe General Philip Breedlove said that the new military infrastructure of Russia in Syria, including air defense systems, de facto creates a no-fly zone."

Jack, I think the US is finding out just how effective the Russian abilities are in many new areas.

I was reading some translated interviews of some of the Ukrainian commanders and American "trainers" who had been up against the break away Donbass repubilcs talking about the Electronics warfare that they were up against in some of those battles were there equipment was completly wiped out. He was saying nothing worked,Everything was jammed making it almost impossible to respond Even your cell phone did not work.

Another one was an American advisor who was witness/ familair with this saying the the Russian EW capabilies were  quote "Eyewatering".

I don't  know if it was propaganda or not, hard to tell, but I don't see any Russian troops trembling in fear.

I would not be surpised if ISIS or whomever is trying to run things in Syria is blind no.  Radio communications are probably not working.  The Russians will zero in on any satellite phones. I would forget about any reg cell phones.  If the Russians can cut off their communications then ISIS is really screwed.

But .... but .......... our Leaders told us, we're the best.   We are exceptional.

I think you could call that karma / reversion to the mean / the great "equal and opposite reaction" when you can compromise $235 worth of military hardware with $1 worth of electronic warfare equipment. It's the inverse of the 235:1 COMEX physical gold to paper gold ratio. Debt leverage meets practical ingenuity and is bested. Eye watering indeed. This development gives me hope.

It's about the petrodollar.

The culture has died. The culture must be dead, otherwise it could not have gone to hell.

Our problem is, we don't have politicians who care about Americans.  Their only concern is .... who is contributing to their re-election campaign.

America is slowly sinking into mediocrity.  Her politicians betrayed the trust of the citizenry.

The news was talking about S300 systems being moved into Syria in the past couple of weeks. S400 systems are the next generation and indicate an entirely different level of seriousness.
