This Is How Close US And Russian Jets Are To A Dog Fight Above Syria
With Russia now effectively controlling the skies over Syria and with the US chiding Moscow for “targeting” America’s CIA-trained proxy armies, everyone is anxious to know how long it will be before NATO’s F-16s have an actual, live fire run-in with Russian Su-34s.
As we noted on Monday, the biggest threat here is the close proximity at which everyone is now operating: "What happens next? Well, with the previously discussed Russian naval blockade of Syria as a likely next step, and with both US and Russian warplanes already flying back and forth above Syria, and now both superpowers having a legitimate, if only in the eyes of their own media, justification to dispatch land troops, what was until now a mere proxy war is about to become full blown land combat on Syrian soil, one which will soon involve both Russian and US ground, sea and airborne forces."
How close to this eventuality are we, you ask? Well, to let CBS tell it, about 20 miles:
U.S. pilots flying F-16s out of Turkey first picked up the Russian planes on radar. The Russians closed to within 20 miles, at which point the American pilots could visually identify them on their targeting cameras.
Lt. Gen. Charles Brown, commander of the American air campaign, said the Russians have come even closer than that to his unmanned drones.
"The closest has been within a handful of miles of our remotely piloted aircraft," said Brown. "But to our manned aircraft they've not been closer than about 20 miles."
Brown said he intends to simply work around the Russians in Syria, and he doesn't think they will crowd out American operations.
"We're up a lot more often than [the Russians] are so when we do have to move around [them] for safe operation, it's for a small period of time compared to the hours and hours that we're airborne over Iraq and Syria," said Brown.
A radar map lays this out best: the yellow aircraft are Russian, the green are American.

Because they can?
Ego.
m
Because Israel wants the US to start and fight another war which will end up enlarging Israel yet again.
Perfect false flag opportunity.
What do you mean false flag? You think anyone will give a fuck about what the US thinks at this point? There will be no false flag this time. If the US gets in the way, Russia will open fire for real. And then the US with cut run and whine. Lets see Barry go to war if he doesn't like it.
The US needs war
The US needs to have its head examined.
The US is FUBAR
A short easy war. Not this and not with them. Unless they think NATO and the EU can repel Bagration II.
OH I played this game and it didn't go well...it ended with total annihilation

Erm... you're counting up...
US education system.
This is why we cant have nice things.
With jets, miles = seconds.
Shall we play a game?
The graphics haven't gotten much better.
We left the threat of nuclear annihilation in the 80s why are we back at it again?
Idiots who sit in Washington put Russia have the choice of:
- Or the world in which there is no longer international law?!
- Or the world in which the United States no longer exists?!
The first option is the slow death of Russia. In Moscow, it is well understood.
What do you think, which of these two options already chosen Russia if Washington does not give Russia any other choice?
Putin for president.
Deez Nuts VP
Snowden for NSA chief
Remind me again why it is that American war planes are able to penetrate a soverign country's airspace and then proceed to drop bombs on said soverign country. It just smacks of hypocracy when the USSA defends Ukraine or Isreal or Saudi Arabia to bomb the shit out of helpless civilians all in the name of fighting the boogy man.
American Exceptionalism.(expired)
Article stinks of propaganda. ...
i am outraged. how dare they bomb our isis troops!
Tie a black ribbon, round the old oak tree......................
Hang a ribbon at the cave entrance. I don't think they have trees there.
Even if there isn't an accident, there will be a false flag event. Amerikas way of doing business.
It was nice knowing all of you. There is a special place in hell reserved for the leadership team of the US if there is a false flag. It is right next to where everyone will be who said or did nothing to protest this madness. Our leadership team is crazy, but we are worse because we are letting this happen.
I'm thinking this could be serious myself. Otherwise they'd be flying F-35's into the area.
The only foreign country with a legal basis for being in Syria is Russia. Forget the bullshit narrative you hear from the MSM. America is only there to overthrow the existing government so the Nabucco Pipeline can be built. Civilians (women and children included) have been dying by the hundreds of thousands in Syria for years while the US continued to support the proxy armies that contributed to the instability. None of these so-called moderates you hear about in the MSM are Syrians. They are all foreign (terrorist) mercenaries funded and armed by the CIA to overthrow Assad. Fuck these terrorist maggots. Hope Russian forces kill all of them!!
Whoever down voted, show your fucking face.
Well Mike, you're partially correct. And no, I didn't down-vote you.
What you get wrong is your assessment of the reason for us being in Syria. Since Obama took office, TPTB (Soros and Valerie Jarrett), wanted to rid Syria of Assad. The purpose was to expand the territory to be controlled by ISIS vis a vis the Islamic Caliphate. With Assad gone, ISIS would be able to control a much bigger land mass under their new Caliphate.
This is NOT about a pipeline. This is about ISLAM. Plain and simple.
Anyone doubting that Obama is a Muslim should get their head examined. The proof is plain as day.
I did down-vote you.
It's not about Valerie Jarrett, George Soros, or Islam. It is about the pipeline, but it's about far more than that. It's a whole basket of objectives, which can be collectively called "Wars of Empire."
Get out the atlas. Syria is in a very strategic position. So, for that matter, are Iraq and Afghanistan. Control of each controls huge amounts of water, petroleum, and pipeline routes. Each are in strategic locations along the perimeter of the potential rivals to the US for domination of Eurasia; Russia, China, and the E.U. While you've got the atlas open, look at Libya, South Sudan and Somalia; Yemen, Nigeria, Ukraine and Pakistan as well. All of these are nations in which the US has been fooling around militarily, overtly or covertly. Each has seen a "homegrown" Sunni extremist "terrorist" outbreak of truly deplorable viciousness. Each sits on top of energy deposits, or the route such deposits have to cross to get to market.
Now, scan briefly Zbigniew Brzezinski's "The Grand Chessboard." The key objective of dominating Eurasia is laid out. It's not new; Brzezinski goes all the way back to ancient times to justify it.
Zbigniew Brzezinski is not some old fart nobody listens to. Between him, Henry Kissinger and Paul Wolfowitz, all of whom are connected, you've got control of the past 55 years of US foreign policy.
This is the US trying to ignite a series of dumpster fires around the perimeter of Russia, China and the E.U. This puts resource deposits "on ice," untapped until desired, later. It puts control over the flow of energy to China and the E.U. firmly in US hands. It destroys the civil societies around those three rivals, forcing them to exhaust their energies just trying to keep some kind of order. It puts huge refugee populations on the move, further degrading our rivals' energies. It enriches our MIC.
The genius of the plan is that apparent visible failure is actually success. Chaos is the objective, not a resolved conflict and rebuilding. If there is any rebuilding, money flows from the US Treasury to the puppet client government, back to US interests (at a high rate of interest to the puppet proxies), and nothing much gets done. This is why the US military uses half-measures, slaughters more civilians than "enemies," arms and funds our "enemies," and can't show any videos of destroying "enemy" command and supply facilities. The point is not victory, but intractable chaos, eventually drawing in our rivals.
It's Brzezinski's 1970's policy in Afghanistan all over again, which succeeded in drawing in the Soviets, who couldn't abide 9th century Islamic extremist primitivist bullshit on their southern doorstep. The legitimate government of Aghanistan invited the Soviets in then, too, to fight against US-funded, armed and supported Sunni extremist fighting terrorists.
The possible difference this time is that there are more players involved. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, the Gulf Despotisms and Israel all have their fingers in this pie. Syria isn't the same place as Afghanistan. Russia can just come in and have total air superiority and blow the crap out of anything that moves. If the US, Saudi Arabia or the Gulf states directly supply ISIS, it's going to be obvious. That's why we have to have these charades of ISIS "over-running" Iraqi supply depots. Now that Iraq has invited in Iran and Russia, that supply channel has been blocked.
This is an old game. It's not Soros and Jarrett. It's not even them plus Hillary, Kerry, Nuland and the rest of the neo-cons, Brzezinski, Kissinger et. al.; this one goes back before Alexander the Great, who is the first guy we know of to have tried to invade Afghanistan and realized too late it was a bad idea.
And Israel can annex South Lebanon to the sweet waters of the Litani. Three times they have tried and three times they have been rebuffed by Hezbollah. Who supports Hezbollah? Syria and Iran.
Water is Israel's #1 National Security Problem. They are in a drought, the Jordon is down to a trickle, the aquafier is sucking salt, and the Dead Sea is down about a meter a year indicating the ground water levels.
Since He-Man Netanyahoo screwed up the deal with Turkey for a pipe line to supply water, Ole He-Man had to make sure to take out Syria, then Iran. His speech to the UN was sheer desperation. But boy, did the Wolfowitz boys jump all over it. The NeoCultists stink tanks and the WaPo and NYT were faithful also.
Now, with the Russians in Syria and the West making deals with Iran, Israel had best play pretty with the largest nation on earth with the most fresh water. But, I expect Netanyahoo to screw that up too.
It has only been 920 years since the first Crusade. I'm sure we'll have this solved in the next few months.
Killing people in the middle east and destroying property there must be good for someone throughout the centuries. One oligarchy hands off the baton to the next oligarchy and so on.
Russia needs to get those S400's on the ground throughout Syria now
They already have iirc, they just haven't cleaned house yet.
Agree...perfect timing.
Blackwater NUMBNUTZ Founder: My Group Could Have Crushed USISIS
Newsmax 12/2014: Obama has launched airstrikes against Islamic State strongholds but, despite being contradicted by military leaders, has insisted there will be no necessity for U.S. ground troops in the conflict with the Islamic State.
"We can't afford to do it all over the world. Even if we wipe out USISIS now, there will be another USISIS. They're [we're] not going to stop." ...shaking head
“We're like America's little pit bull. They beat it, starve it, mistreat it, and once in a while they let it out to attack somebody.”
Generation Kill
AS IF. The lady doth protest too much.
Blackwater et al are TRAINING ISIS.
FFS just when you think people can't be more full of shit, some little Hitler just has to step into his makeup chair.
My eyes just rolled themselves out of their sockets.
I would really like to see the Russians and the Americans get ito a dog fight. That would be good entertainment. Seriously.
The pilot psychology will come into play. Like when you walk out of a bar and a guy bumps into you. Either you shrug it off and go home - no harm no foul - or you have a chip on your shoulder and you immediately go into fighting mode.
The US pilots are basically the air force for ISIS in Syria. I would imagine they don't want to get into a dogfight to protect that turf. The Russians are in it to win it because if they lose in Syria they will get flushed out of the middle east including all of Lukoil's investments in Iraq. Also, I must beleive that hte Russians brought some SAMs with them.
So it would seem like the US Pilots will give them a wide berth. However, NATO is like that bitch girlfriend who gets you into fights, "My boyfriend is going to kick your ass," she says to the 6'3" bouncer who is sporting a pair of lead-weighted fighting gloves.
If I were an American pilot I would fucking defect to the Russians!
Ya.. that's exactly how it is... The fighter pilot is reduced to a guy getting bumped after coming out of a bar.
As if that isn't enough... You go on to say the pilot should defect.
I suspect, based on your bar ANALogy, you'd be going home with the guy who bumped into you... And soon after your ace gets dogfought, you'll be sucking your own crap off his schlong by dawn.
"Thee pilot psychology will come in to play like when you walk out of a gay bar and this random guy is attached to your poopshute"
Ya, that's exactly how the pilot thinks, maroon.
You DOS trolls are easy to ID. You always go straight for the gay/homo attack.
You're not supposed to notice anymore.
A guy wearing ass-less chaps on the internet is supposed to be perfectly normal these days.
And it's thuper gay.
Most likely there would be a heavy burst from Russian SIGINT/radar jamming prior to fireing on NATO aircraft...assuming they shoot first. The real kicker would be Turkey secretly cutting a deal with Russia and 'accidentally' shoot down a US aircraft.
I just do not see an accident. First, it would imply that the planes are carrying air-to-air missiles. Why? Second, that the pilots are going for intentional missile lock. Third, every plane has enough radar and air traffic controllers that they know where every nearby plane is. Fourth, there are not hundreds of planes flying - only a few dozen at most. Any interaction is not an accident.
Russian planes (Su-30) are carrying R-27ET's and R-73's, and bombs.
WTF are 'merican jets doing in Syria? Did anyone ask them to be there? Oh yes, I forgot. The zionist overlords already claim all of that land as part of their greater israel fantasy.
The US lunatics claim the entire world.
"both superpowers"? That's funny - implying that Russia a superpower.
"Sub-superpower", coming soon, since there will soon be no superpowers anymore.
"This stray dog world, this sick sad place
Got a belly full of maggots and disease
Every apple here is rotten, every blessing is a curse
Every word is a lie you best believe
We take one step forward, then two steps back
In a race to the bottom of the barrel
They teach us how to fear
They teach us how to hate
Then they arm us and they march us off to hell
And its left, left, left right left"

I see no problem here only Russians flying that are allowed in Syrian territory and for the rest unauthorized airplanes from the US intruding Syrian airspace.
I guess you can call that exceptionalism to blame on others an infringement and declare yourselve above the national law?
Large air base at Incerlik in Turkey allows easy flying in the border area for the US air force, however if/when Russia can setup at Kweires will change that dynamic.
Which nationality is the purple aircraft in that pic, Airforce 1?
I think it's McCain's ride.
Satan 2.
His boss Soros flies Satan 1. I think Blankfein is Satan 3.
It is not that complicated if they are willing.
Just trade liaison officers, who will then provide each other their respective Air Tasking Orders describing what missions will be flown, on which routes during the day. It would go far to calm things.
After all, we're both fighting ISIS...
...Aren't we?
I just read an article on Yahoo about how President Obama is complaining that the Republicans would have us in 7 wars right now. I had to laugh out loud. Just on his watch, and excluding Iraq, I count Afghanistan Redux, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Ukraine, along with heavy duty saber rattling with Russia and China which total, to my admitedly rusty arithmetic skills, to, wow, seven.
Don't be disingenuous Mr. Obama. Both parties in this country are the war party.
Both parties are the same.
The US is looking for an excuse to have a quick "hit" war. The flight of Russian aircraft in the vicinity of the Turkish border could be considered an attack on NATO, which would trigger a massive but short air war.
NATO forces in the vicinity outnumber the Russian air force in Syria by 3-, possibly 4-, to 1.
It could start and end in less than 2 hours.
The Russians should impose on itself -without saying so- a no-fly zone of about 20 kilometers along the Turkish border, which would give the US-sponsored rebels plenty of safe haven.
pussy.
What's that little purple plane??
MH-370.
whats the pink airplane in the picture? is that the new american gay-jet gay-pilot squadron everyone was talking about on tv?
Wait a minute. "Lt. Gen. Charles Brown, commander of the American air campaign..."
Fucking Charlie Brown is in charge of US air forces in the region?
Tell me this is a joke.
So where is Lucy with the football?
She's been playing with the stock market guys.
The F35 lost out to Snoopy's doghouse in recent tests.
Valerie Jarrett is Lucy?
Josh Ernest assures us that Charlie Brown is on the case.

I have a really bad news to you man.
4 Yellows versus

... looks like the Greens are asking for trouble .
Yellows have an unpredictable surprise for greens. Heheheh.
It will take only a few weeks before the "Islamic State" is running with it's tail between its legs, it's now or never for NATO .. better be within running distance of your fallout shelter.
Problem is they will be running straight into northen Europe.
Have fun guys.
True that. And one would assume they'll be one pissed off group of head choppers for being abandoned by the West.
A new kind of chart porn!!! Reads bullish. So Yellen, am I correct?
insane men (or reptiles)..leading us off cliffs..humanity cannot advance with insane leadership fighting over who has the power.
Even a portion of that $600 billion a year could have done much to progress humankind but it's better spent to blow it back up to the stone age.
Throw in some Turkish, French, Israeli, Saudi, Iraqi military planes for good luck.
So now the Russians (a reasonably credible source) can collect information on who and what the CIA-backed terrorists and the US drones are attacking ... such as unarmed civilians.
I think the USSA needs to be rebrand itself from Exceptional Nation to:
1) Unexceptional Nation
2) A Once Exceptional Nation
3) Hippocratic Nation
4) Belligerent Nation
5) Warrmongering Nation
https://www.caseyresearch.com/articles/the-passing-of-american-exception...
Unacceptable nation.
What are all our planes 'n' drones doing .... seems like the Russkies have been more effective .... with fewer sorties ?
Our planes are providing cover for our ISIS assets.
Oops. I hope I didn't spill the beans.
Brings to mind a couple of phrases from the movie Thirteen Days:
"Don't get shot at."
"Those were sparrow strikes."
Caveat - This was off the top of my head. I didn't feel like pulling out the DVD for the actual quotes. So if they're a little off, sorry.
1-2 torpedoes away from 60 sa-300's sunk, givem a 3rd for good measure... russian know israel will sink that shit in a heart beat why they knocked on there door.
And of course, from Red Dawn:
"It was FIVE TO ONE. I got four of 'em".
Screencap from an ADSI system from the looks of it. Tactical Link-16 tracks (solid ones) and Intelligence feeds (wireline ones). Green= Friendlies, Yellow= Suspect or Unknown, Blue/Magenta= High Interest.
Not exactly the Gulf of Tonkin.
I believe Russia has blown up pretty much all of the mercs and their reserves already.
One little "squeeze" on the trigger finger, and oil prices double in 5 minutes..My best guess is that both sides are waiting for the A.O.K. from Goldman Sachs..
So Obama/Kerry put Russia in charge of assisting Syria, Can I guess they will put Iran in charge of assisting Israel and Cuba assisting Terrorists across central and South America....Kerry almost makes it seem Hillary wasn't that bad. She only gave Libya to terrorists and Iraq to ISIS. Obama by far the worst president EVER! Hope we survive till 2016
Next they'll be putting Saudi Arabia in charge of human rights.
Ha Ha Ha... funny right?... Ha Ha...
And that damn Kerry has done plenty to destroy our credibility and global regard for the US.
Why don't we just fire all the useless bureaucrats. And suddenly, the deficit begins to shrink.
I suppose should we fire the useless ones, we would have to let them all out!
The typical ziopuppet congresswhore's only real skill is being a lifelong gladhanding ass-kisser.
Therefore, they are not smart enough to realize that their own homes turn into black glass as soon as this thing goes atomic.
Go ahead and start the countdown to an "accident", false-flagged or otherwise.
And thanks to propaganda handles like CNN, FOX, ABC, CBS and NBC the American lemming will cheer their men and women in uniform to "victory again"... just like they have for that last 14 years....
Just as long as it doesn't involve them or interfere with the Saturday and Sunday football and World Series baseball schedule!
Yeah "We be Ready"!...
Forr a good fight with an adversary that is rested, refreshed and not drugged out on PTSD meds the last decade because of multiple deployments and brain trauma due to what they've both seen and done to the neighborhoods they've occupied!

Thanks for sharing of your situation. We can not help you right now.
Those "men and women in uniform" volunteered for it. That these are killing fields and not wars, that the killing is justified using fake accusations has been clear from the beginning. But it is decent pay and benefits with limited risk unless you have a conscious. Now, if Russia might be shooting back, then you might see fewer heros volunteering to kill for money.
" "...compared to the hours and hours that we're airborne over Iraq and Syria," said Brown [Lt. Gen. Charles Brown, commander of the American air campaign] "
Doing what, pray? Not attacking ISIS targets that's for sure.
On Friday, 2 October, Saudi news published an interview with former U.S. Colonel Jack Jacobs, who announced that the United States can't stop the Russians in Syria, as Russia has established a "closed zone" over it. This means that any military aircraft entering the zone of hostilities can be immediately shot down as a threat to the Russian Air and space forces.
American sources claim that the Russian Federation, with the assistance of deployed land-based air defense systems, has established a closed zone over the entire airspace of Syria, while in addition, the approaches to the Russian airbase in Latakia are also closed from the sea to a distance of 100-250 km from the coast to the fleet of the Russian Federation, which is now conducting exercises in the Mediterranean sea.
Thus, the U.S. and its allies can't even carry out reconnaissance on the forces of the Russian Federation.
A source in the military circles of the American contingent in Turkey reported that NATO aircraft, trying to get close to the forces of the Russian Federation, were illuminated by radar, while the source of illumination could not even be identified.
"The Russians have made it understood, that they can see everything, and not to get anywhere closer, or be shot down", - noted the American military.
"Frankly speaking, we were surprised by the air defense system of Russia. We can't even assume which systems are deployed there. We are encountering them for the first time, most likely there are the latest complexes S-400. I have no more clues" - said Colonel Jack Jacobs.
Bloomberg also writes about the creation of the Russian no-fly zone over Syria, citing senior American military. So, the commander of the NATO forces in Europe General Philip Breedlove stated that the new military infrastructure of Russia in Syria, including the air defense systems, de facto creates a no-fly zone.
According to Breedlove, Russia has created over Syria a "sphere of denial", which American planes can't enter.
It's always difficult to determine if some of these comments by western military types are true or just bullshit trying to give Russia a false sense of security.
If true, it reinforces what happened to the US warship a few months ago in the Black Sea when Russian planes flew overhead and essentially switched off all of its electronic radar/tracking/missile defence systems, turning it into a sitting duck.
I believe that was in 2014. It was steaming straight toward Crimea right after the Russians took possession. When the ship was lit up by Russian targeting systems, it immediately turned away and docked in Romania. Interesting take on that little episode in the Russian documentary about Crimea that was released this past spring: https://vimeo.com/123194285
It's a long video and the ship episode is in the last hour or so.
That's the one: "American destroyer USS Donald Cook"
What is the name of that new satellite with a resolution that can reveal minutia on the ground?
+100
Pointing out where the Yadzi women are. USAF and Blackwater get a cut of the sex-slave trade.
When will the Russians turn on the jammers?
or missiles hitting jammers, great targets
So, just curious, where'd you get the nifty radar pic? Just called up russia/turkey/syria/nato and they faxed it right over eh? What a crock of bull... ZH you're barely worth the time any more...
Anywho its getting fun! armageddon fun luv it, seriously I blame a woman, she caused such! I kid u not...
From Top Gun to Top Hoe....how much lower can the US fall?
They better be building some serious fighters & bombers, I'll take the f16 kinds just fine.
Why is ZeroHedge the only one truly covering what's going on in Syria?
Oh, wait. ZH did a story just the other day on the 6 corporations that control all of the US News.
Sorry, I forgot.
At least you knew and then forgot. Most american never know that they never knew or would know at all. Most basic world affairs remain unknown unknowns to our ostritch-like bretheren.
... six corporations all owned or majority controlled by you-know-who.

I just listened to some NATO minister on NPR. He claimed the Russians are targeting civilians in Syria.
The propaganda from the U.S. is in full-war machine mode.
If it wasn't coming from the U.S., it would actually be funny.
But I find it sad and very telling of how far the U.S. has sunk.
This is looking more and more like what the Russians did in 1990 and 1991 when the U.S. leveled the Iraqi military in reverse.
The Soviet military sat back watched and assessed and said that the U.S. would be heading into another Vietnam and when that didn't happen they then said "well" now it's time to put the flag on the ground... fast forward 12 years later after the event and 12 trillion dollars and bankruptcy later that is a feudal city double thick and surrounded with jersey walls and barbed wire and layer upon layer of contractors to guard what is anything but an "embassy" and Russia played it's chess well.
Washington and Tel Aviv want to see what the capabilities of the Russian Air Force and Army are like before they go into the catastrophe that will make their Vietnam memories fade into a distant tenth place...
Then folks it will be up to the George Soros' group and his handlers to decide whether or not they want to spend the rest of their lives living undergorund with paid protection that ain't gonna be too happy when they no longer have any of those "creature comforts" they've been so spoiled to keep for too long!!!!
does america want to establish a north syria and a south syria?
like they did with korea,
i hope it will end up with: like they tried with vietnam
i also heared some rumors on splitting up yemen

Choward, nothing can go wrong, just sit back and watch a nice relaxing movie at home.
May I suggest The Bedford Incident?.
Perhaps the U.S. will send in some F-35's (sarc).
Maybe if we loaded them with explosives and pushed them out the back of a C-130.
Reggie Love is a power bottom.
Obomba is a twink
Nah. Too old.
If I was Russia I would be making a case at the U.N. for the US and Nato to stop violating international law by flying into Syrian airspace.
No commercial flights? Who are the other colors? Be careful not to shoot down passengers.
Is it me or does the yellow sillouette look like the new Russian PAK-50?
Rus jets would get plizzowed. Hilarious that anyone would think otherwise.
Obviously you are not knowledgable in modern Russian fighter capabilities. Do some serious research - you might be surprised. The SU-30MKI can take on most any plane in the sky, certainly the F-16. An F-22 might have a better chance at defeating it, but would the US risk such expensive equipment given Russia's ground-based anti-aircraft capabilities? I don't think so. You live in a drean world where the US has no competition - that is simply not true anymore.
kissingers in the purple plane directing the whole thing
Actually, I heard an interview with Kissinger an dhe thinks Barry is an idiot, completely botching the entire ME and Russian thingies. He siad NOT to confront Russia and improve diplomatic efforts with them. Saem with China. He said our foreign policy now with the Russkies and China is a blunder.
Yes, I am as surprised as you ar ebut he favors diplomacy over moar war. The Norwegians may have to revoke his Piece Prize if he gets too soft.
Doesn't surprise me.

RAF took down V1 doodlebugs over SE England using stripped down Spitfires so I don't suppose Pentadrones will present much difficulty to SU-34s. They're saving the F-16s for later.
False flag? Israeli jets in Stars and Stripes? Let's have a dogfight, a real dogfight.
'Smiler' Davotoglu says it's okay to traverse Turk airspace (with apologies in triplicate on single-sided A4) so F-16 pilots should keep rubbernecking those helmets through 360 degrees 'cos the Bear could be coming from any whichways.
"...an unamed US spokesperson said the regrettable incident involving the bombing of Assad's Palace was a case of mistaken identity in the search to destroy a Doctors Without Borders hospital."
I'll bet on the American pilots if there's a dog fight. As to who is actually doing some good over there I have to admit it's the Russians. Yea I know they're bombing people the U.S. has supported but in my opinion they're all POS so carpet bombing every one of those bastards wouldn't be a problem for me.
History has bred toughness into the Russians. I would take them very seriously.
They have trained to fight us.
The average Russian is a hell of a lot tougher than the average American. I've spent a lot of time in Russia and when you see a 75 year old babushka crossing the street with a bag of groceries in 20 degree weather you ask yourself "how the hell does she do that?". I have no use for the Russian leaders but the Russian people are A-1.
I'd say the same thing about rural people in the northern US. I think it's the combination of poverty, distance and climate. When the weather can kill you anytime you let your attention wander you tend to be very persistent about the indispensables of life. You don't, for instance, assume a very robust, always-on high-speed wireless internet connection. Nor that electricity is going to work in bad weather. Nor that anyone is going to come to help you when you need it.
People laugh at me for the survival stuff in the back of my tiny car in the city (Minneapolis), but I've used almost all of it even living in the city. I wouldn't drive in the country without it. If you're going to have a flat tire, dead battery, slide into the ditch or get marooned on ice, or get caught in a whiteout, you want to do it near me. I do take the grain shovel out of the back in the summer, to save space. But the other stuff? No way.
I have no use for the American leaders, either.
Interesting comment. I learned the same thing about the Chinese. I was in Beijing in the winter time - darn near froze my butt off. That wind that sweeps down from the north is absolutely bitter. But there are a LOT of Chinese doing daily activities in that climate. The people from northern China, they are a VERY TOUGH people.
It doesn't pay to be fooled by stereotypes. What's on the ground is a different reality.
