Russian Embassy Trolls Saudi Arabia On Twitter

Tyler Durden's picture

As regular readers and foreign policy critics the world over are no doubt acutely aware, the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey have gotten themselves in a bit of a quagmire in Syria and Moscow has been keen on pointing it out. Still, The Kremlin has thus far observed some semblance (and we do emphasize the word “some”) of decorum in criticizing the West’s approach as Moscow has generally confined its scolding to what at least seem like serious foreign policy critiques.

That just went out the window - Russia is now openly mocking Riyadh, Doha, and Washington and as if the following weren’t brazen enough as it stands, note that it emanates from the UAE...

Only thing better would be if Russia bombs the corrupt, criminal, cruel cabal that rules Saudi Arabia.

It would be Karmic payback for being the focus of corruption and criminality for decades.  The Western media is ignoring Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen.

Here is a partial list of Saudi Arabia's crimes in Yemen:

At least 3,500 have been killed as a result of the Saudi-led war, launched on March 26 of this year. Some 1,700 of these have been confirmed as civilians, according to the UN, with some 3,800 more civilians confirmed wounded.

Nearly 80 percent of the Yemeni population faces conditions of starvation, near starvation, and/or lack of reliable access to drinking water.

More than 1.2 million Yemenis have been forced to flee their homes by the war. At least 50,000 of the displaced have fled the country entirely, seeking refuge in neighboring countries of Oman, Djibouti, Somalia and Sudan.

Responsibility for the bloodshed and humanitarian disaster in Yemen lies squarely with Saudi Arabia, the other Gulf monarchies and their backers in Washington. While technically headed by the Saudi monarchy, the military onslaught against Yemen is a direct outgrowth of US imperial policy in the Middle East.

Speaking of crazy deluded psychopaths.

US foreign policy expert Zbigniew Brzezinski says the United States should retaliate if Russia does not stop bombing its assets in Syria.

Brzezinski, the national security adviser for former President Jimmy Carter, advised President Barack Obama to attempt to disarm the Russians if they keep attacking the CIA-trained militants in Syria.

i know of some posters on here that would love to take a sot at disarming the Russians. Go get'em boys!

Zbigniew's plans to brain damage people must be going so well that he can comment on disarming Russia...

"one could develop a system that would seriously impair the brain performance of very large populations in selected regions over an extended period'...No matter how deeply disturbing the thought of using the environment to manipulate behavior for national advantages , to some, the technology permitting such use will very probably develop within the next few decades.""

Answers to questions:

Question: Can you comment on a statement by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin, who has all but accused Russia of training ISIS terrorists?

Maria Zakharova: I’ve provided my comments on this issue as an expert. You can read them on my blog, on the Foreign Ministry’s Facebook account in the #Opinion rubric, as well as on the Ekho Moskvy radio station website.

I can only add that speaking on any issue is the sovereign right of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin. But Kiev would be better off focusing on the crisis at home and restoring order where the international community expects this, in particular, implement the Minsk Agreements. If it has the time and heart for other regional crises, this would require a detailed analysis. Mr Klimkin has alleged that the ISIS terrorists were trained by Russia, that Russia trained Saddam Hussein’s army. Only those who don’t know the history of international relations can make these assertions. Saying that Russia coached Hussein’s army, which now forms the backbone of ISIS, is as absurd as describing the liberators of Auschwitz as “Ukrainians.”

I won’t say much about this. I’ve said everything I wanted in my post, which includes the relevant links. But I do want to say that the origin of ISIS and its terrorists is a moot question. I’d like to remind you that one of Russia’s major moves, taken over 10 years ago, when it was encouraged to join the illegal Iraq war, was to explain to the international community (the US, the EU and also Ukraine, which joined that illegal undertaking) that disrupting the balance of religious and ethnic interests and the very statehood of Iraq, which was done based on far-fetched pretexts contrary to international law, would only have one outcome – to spur international terrorism and create new challenges and threats in the region, chaos and everything else that we are fighting now.

So who was right? It has been admitted that the anti-Iraq coalition has failed in its mission. Old issues remained unsettled, and we also face new global threats. Despite its problems, Iraq has never been an international terrorist centre. Iraq’s main objective now is to survive the onslaught by multinational terrorists. The outcome of this battle is unclear.

We saw similar developments in Libya, and the current target is Syria. Our argument for those who claim the right to overthrow foreign governments is that they should be aware of the consequences. In the past, there was the illusion that a country’s involvement in political engineering and ideological export would not endanger its integrity and safety, because that country is strong and rich. But this illusion has been shattered. About 400,000 refugees have fled to Europe over the past six months. Their very arrival has showed Europeans and Western advocates that it’s impossible to bomb Middle Eastern countries and hope not to be involved in a global crisis.

I’d like to say once again that you can find my comments on Mr Klimkin’s statement in my post. Of course, he should focus on his country’s internal problems. But being a foreign minister, he definitely has the right to deliberate on international issues.

The catalyst for Russia and Putin becoming the US enemy again was NATO moving towards Russia and the anti-missile shield in Europe. Putin has repeatedly and very clearly emphasized that! Putin does not hide anything, he always states, what he wants or does not want.

here, a funny summary from RT, how the relations between the USA and Russia have gradually deteriorated.

I saw something on the web it may be Drudge or elsewhere.  The word is Col. Khadaffy's son called Hillary or a top US General about trying for peace talks to stop the ISIS war on Libya.  Hillary said forget it and to essentially take them out.

The murder of Khadaffy enraged Putin.  I saw him interviewed and he was furious about this.  He will not forget.

Syria rebels seeks unity against Russian 'occupation'.

Dozens of Syrian rebel groups have called for unity in response to Russian air strikes and vowed to attack Russian forces in Syria.

Forty-one groups, including the powerful Ahrar al-Sham faction and some units fighting under the Free Syrian Army, condemned "the Russian-Iranian alliance occupying Syria" in a statement released on Monday.

The rebels called on regional states to form an alliance against Russian and Iranian forces fighting on behalf of President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

"They are using Nusra's presence as an excuse to kill civilians and fight the opposition," he told Al Jazeera.

While Russian strikes have targeted some ISIL positions, the majority have hit anti-government rebels advancing towards the state-controlled Latakia province

It is possible that the west as dulled their senses. They might be believing that all governments respond as the west has. That is not a safe bet with Putin. He has no code pink at home protesting on his door step, and unlike America, he has not the luxury of seaports and military bases around the world to rely on. He MUST defend the few he has and as such, just might constitute a bit more of a bite than an Obama. I think Syria is more important to Russia than Afghanistan was to the Soviets. This is not just about the image of power projection, this IS power projection.

There is little doubt that many radical Muslims have no compunction in fighting to the death. Its just that Putin may be more inclined to oblige. And have no doubts, Putin IS NOT there to defeat ISIS. They are there to preserve Assad and their influence and presence in the area. So of course they are going to take out the threats to Assad first, and then, if they feel secure in doing so, go after anyone else who represents a threat. ISIS is less concerned about defeating Assad as constituting a caliphate presence...which they have largely done so far.

It is also possible that Putin has greatly overstepped his bounds and has now embroioled himself in a campaign that will end his career See what his former boss Kalugin has to say and also note the Al Jazeera commentator equating barrel bombs with Russian support of Assad.

This will not end well for Putin.

But then again, we could point out that Russia has spent 50% of its entire military budget in the first three months of the year trying to fight a war in Ukraine, colonize the Arctic, over stress the Russian AF by flying them 25 hours a day and now the piece de resistance -- the Syrian "vacation".

Bottom line. Syria alone stands a very serious chance of completely destroying the Russian (already wobbling dangerously) economy. That is a 100% fact and anybody on this planet with a basic understanding of math knows that.

There is no luck involved here son -- just plain hard cash -- which Putin doesn't have...

The outcome of war is dependent upon the support its people. If Putin retains his domestic strength, nothing the Muslims have to say will change anything for him. Even though his military is not a match for ours, what he is attempting to do is not all that hard. The US mission struggled because we were intent on making them love us while killing them. Putin will not struggle under such illusions. He will not be building schools and hospitals in Syria for the moderate rebels.

This would not be an issue if NATO had never intervened in the middle-east and started the war on terror on 9/11; but people are blind to the truth for the better part of their lives.

I hope every ZH'er realizes the "war of terror" is a CIA invention, for it is a perfect war because it has no face and therefore anyone the "state" deems a terrorist is (as we already see) AND a war without any boundaries (as we have already seen) AND a war that never ends.  You can't make this stuff up, but fear is a strong enemy of men's souls

It's only the status of vested authority that's problematic.  Consider the middle ground of the Pashtun, where leaders are coordinators of projects, not Platonic nobles, and can be fired at any time by their constituency.  They don't seem to have such problems as Westerners do, other than Westerners themselves.  See also Rafia Zakaria on imperialism of women's clothing over at Aeon.

I'd have paid forty minas to use Plato's authoritarian ass as my footstool.  Sixty to switch his and Socrates' drinks.

Most of all, the West has underestimated effects of the so-called siege mentality - how most Russians, a nation so often invaded by the West in the past, would feel about the expansion of NATO towards their borders.

I watched a video, where a Western journalist was asking Russians about the sanctions and he received surprising answers. One of the most interesting answers came from a young Russian middle-class woman in Moscow: "We don't care about sanctions at all. So we will not be able to eat luxury French cheese now. So what? We have been eating it only for about five years now and it was thanks to Putin anyway that we could even afford it! It is not Russian food anyway. But we do care about NATO expanding to our borders! Why are you doing this to us? This is a mistake. If there is a war against the West and Putin asks us to go, most of us will go!"

I watched another video (in Russian), where Russian citizens asked Putin the following question:

"The USA is moving their bases towards us. They are surrounding us. Looking at all of the USA bases and military near our borders, it almost feels like we are suffocating and we cannot breathe anymore! How does it make you feel as our leader???"

Putin: "Well, thank you for your question. You certainly described the situation so vividly that you have made us all shiver. Why are you so fearful? I propose than that we start suffocating them instead." (laughter from the audience)

"No, I am not fearful. I just want to know, where is our red line and where do we tell them to stop??"

Putin: "We should not be afraid of anything. But of course we must proceed from reality. And make certain protective measures. BTW, taking Crimea was partially one of our solutions to this security threat. So I repeat, we should not be afraid of anything. But we will take all necessary measures to ensure our own security."

You can bet that these measures include Syria as well, both because of ISIS and because of the Russian port. And, as Putin told his people, "I propose than that we start suffocating them instead." For example, in Syria. Or in other words: all Russia's red lines were already crossed. Now is the time to make the USA stop in their crazy tracks.

About Al Jazeera.  Problem is, that's the voice of the the House of Thani, the ruling family of Qatar.  Maybe you've heard of them?  In case you haven't:

Al Jazeera has been called a propaganda outlet for the Qatari government and its foreign policy, by analysts and by news reporters, including former Al Jazeera reporters.[10][11][12][13][14][15][16] The network is sometimes perceived to have mainly Islamist perspectives, promoting the Muslim Brotherhood, and having a pro-Sunni and an anti-Shia bias in its reporting of regional issues.[17][18] However, Al Jazeera insists it covers all sides of a debate, it says it presents Israel's view, Iran's view and even aired videos released by Osama bin Laden.[19]   (from Wikipedia, footnotes can be read there.)
