Despite Surging Job Cuts, Initial Jobless Claims Tumble Back Near 42 Year Lows
Job cuts have already surpassed last year's total, according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas with the highest annual total since 2009, when nearly 1.3 million layoffs were announced at the tail-end of the recession... so how does the government explain the fact that initial jobless claims have once again re-tumbled back to close to 42-year lows...
Initial claims dropped 13k this week to 263k - just shy of the lowest levels sicne 1973...
As Job cuts soar...

One of these is lying...
The third quarter ended with a surge in job cuts, as U.S.-based employers announced plans to shed 58,877 in September, a 43 percent increase from the previous month, according to a report released Thursday by global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.The September total was third largest of the year behind July (105,696) and April (61,582). It was 93 percent higher than the 30,477 planned layoffs announced the same month a year ago.In all, 205,759 job cuts were announced in the third quarter, making it the largest job-cut quarter since the third quarter of 2009, when planned layoffs totaled 240,233.

Well? It's hammer time!!!
Personally I think it's magic. The BLS has a wizard on staff.
Quantity vs. Quality
Simple:
Nobody working;... Nobody to layoff...
Right, they are running out of people to file claims because they just dont want work(sarc)
Exactly!!! In the absolute worst case scenario, Initial jobless claims will be zero.
It appears that the white house is seeking Zero...Hedge accordingly.
the lies are getting bolder and bolder, usually that is sign of the empire declining
Read your history books sheeple
Are these claims, actual unemployment awards or just applications? Is it possible that many who are being laid off are recent hires who have no legal claim to benefits, even though they have been laid off? There is bound to be some "technical" reason for this...something not made apparent. Hopefully they re not down to complete lies. They have made a career out of finding new ways to create analysis that says one thing but means something else.
The number is fabricated. So the analysis of who and for how long is useless.

Since all "magic" is deception................
These unemployment rate numbers are as reliable as North Korean elction vote totals. These BLS numbers are the product of the same mindset that gave us fraudulent Libor numbers and low Volkswagen auto emission ratings. In other words, all lies.
They're just refusing jobless claims at this point...paperwork straight into the round file. Next, anyone submitting a jobless claim will be arrested and put into forced labor gangs.
In a schizophrenic mind, it all kind of makes sense right?
Quadruple seasonal adjustment
The only possible explanation is that Americans who lose their jobs are illegally sneaking across the southern border into Mexico in order to find jobs at all the new factories being built there by U.S. companies.
Everyone is winning draft king fantasy football, no need to claim unemployment
LMFAO! For sure. 2 coworkers are always telling me about their DraftKings account, how they're killin it.....one of them just last nite asked to borrow $50 from me. Friggin retards.
I went to take a dump and there was a DraftKings advertisement on the underside of the toilet.....Swear!
Some people might actually have some savings and are not filling for benefits... I was laid off, but was optimistic that I would find a job, that never happened, so it took me two months before I made a claim for benefits. It might just be a delayed reaction.
I'd guess that very few are stupid enough to follow this path. The benefits expire whether you are drawing them or not.
More lies from the Obama regime. If you like your job you can keep it. Hahaha!
They are now counting a blow job as two jobs.
Obama sucks a lot of dirty dicks, never knew it was to save the economy.
There, we hacked 10's of thousands of people from the unemployment numbers, revise them later.
- Bureau of Lies and Scams
We have reached FULL EMPLOYMENT !!
Soon they'll proclaim recovery with seasonal hiring next month...
If you aren't eligible for unemployment benefits, why would you file a claim for benefits? If you didn't work for a long enough period of time or didn't make enough, you often can't get a benefit or can't get enough of a benefit to make it worthwhile.
In retail, hospitality, restaurant jobs its not uncommon for ppl to get hired on part time for a busy season and get let go. I'm not sure they build up enough time on the job to file an umeployment claim. Probably the same in other industries that hire part time low wage workers.
Service sector jobs where workers get paid in tips: If you worked a cash job waiting tables, you weren't declaring most of your income, so how are you going to show income for unemployment benefits?
Cuz, they keep changing the goal posts.
Hey Tyler, why not check into the BLS statsnumbers on this... something is not right? Somebody is manipulating the numbers.
They've been manipulating the numbers for a long time and its a given, no investigation required.

There's no magic to this. In order to file for benefits, you need to have an earnings history. With 95 million not working, safe to assume we'll soon see 50M on food stamps. (The new bread in bread and circuses).
Announced job cuts are not job cuts. Perhaps Tyler doesn't know the meaning of the word "lying".
There's not necessily an inconsistency with jobless claim numbers and employment. If no one had a job, what would jobless claims be every week? 0
You have to have had a job the week before in order to be counted as a jobless claim.
