The End Of ISIS? Iraq Air Force Claims It Struck Islamic State Leader's Convoy

Tyler Durden's picture

Now that Obama is "debating" handing over the mess he created in Syria to Putin who in less than two years will have successfully expanded the Russian sphere of influence in both east Ukraine (and certainly the Crimea) and Syria - two nations where Samantha Power's plans for a CIA-led government overthrow have gone spectacularly bad - it means one thing: ISIS, as a pretext for US "humanitarian intervention" in the region, a CIA-created terrorist organization that must be wiped out, no longer needs to exist.

Which is why it was hardly surprising to read moments ago an Iraq military statement alleging that the country's air force has hit a convoy of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

To be sure like all trial balloons, this one had very few details: the fate of the IS leader was unknown, the statement said. The strike has not been independently confirmed. The attack is said to have happened in western Anbar province, near the Syrian border and so on.

Considering that many have speculated that the ISIS head bogeyman doesn't even exist, it would not be difficult to make him disappear once again.

The Iraqi air force "bombed the convoy of the terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi while he was heading to Karabla to attend a meeting" with Daesh (IS) commanders", Sunday's statement said.

"The location of the meeting was also bombed and many of the group's leaders were killed and wounded," it added.

The full google-translated statement below:

A statement from the Interior Ministry about the bombing of the criminal Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi convy

Interior Ministry bombed the criminal Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi convoy

Managed cell hawks intelligence of the Agency and the Interior Ministry of Intelligence and based on accurate intelligence and coordination directly with the leadership of the joint operations of the implementation of the heroic operation targeting terrorist criminal procession Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi dissuade move the procession to Karabilah area to attend a meeting of the leaders of the terrorist organization criminal. Where the hawks managed cell planes bombed the meeting place and kill a lot of leadership and organization of the injured is still unknown where the development of al-Baghdadi was taken in haste laptop and his health is unknown so far and will be released later killed the terrorist organization names in this heroic operation.

As BBC adds, There have previously been reports that the IS leader has been killed or seriously injured in attacks, but none was subsequently confirmed.

Rumours about Baghdadi's death surfaced earlier this year, after reports that he had been seriously wounded in an air strike in March by the US-led coalition that is opposing IS.

Reports that he was injured in 2014 were inaccurate.

Baghdadi has been careful to reveal little about himself and his whereabouts, and even his own fighters reportedly do not speak about seeing him face-to-face.

His likely fate: a deja vu "capture" by US special forces in the coming years in a very public place, one which leads to another "burial at sea" where nobody gets to see the actual body, and where the members of the "capture" squad mysteriously suffer tragic fates.

For now, however, expect ISIS to gradually disappear from the mainstream media's front pages.

Yo Barry, aint nobody on ZH gonna go for your bullshit.  Criminal Obama started the Syrian debacle and is responsible for hundreds of thousands of dead Syrians, outsiders (the mercenaries you paid to go fight there), as well as in Iraq and Kurdistan.  Your war crimes and crimes against humanity in Ukraine are small potatoes in comparison.

Being a puppet does not absolve you of responsibility.  If there were any justice in this world you and your entire line would be seized, put on trial, and hanged, drawn and quarted, beheaded, crucified, burned, and fed to the hogs so there would be no trace of your existence and no chance of any 'resurrection' in future generations.

All that venom and not one word about the criminal Obama regime.

I took a look at a world map to be sure I'm on the right planet. Yes. There it is, that ocean between the USSA and eight time zones away from the ME. Russia is practically neighbors with Georgia, Syria and the Ukraine, not to mention a long historical relationship.

Conclusion: Putin is practicing a Russian version of the Monroe Doctrine. And who could blame him.

Those "facts" are not unique to Putin and Russia. The last I read, Putin's popularity with Russians is at an all time high. And it's grown immensely in the ME and elsewhere among non-western powers. As far as his criminality goes, you don't get to the top of Russian politics any other way. That's the nature of all politicians, including our own Nobel Prize winner.

That all because criminal putin regime can’t handle the Western sanctions and low oil

Neither can Europe and every other oil producing country in the world.

I heard about putin poplarity in Russia, it reminds me Hitler - he also was popular and Kim Jong-un in North Korea - also popular. What is similar to those criminals - they all are (and Hilter was) in full control over main stream media in their country. So I am not suprised about that. Is that a good thing? I don't think so.

Neither can Europe and every other oil producing country in the world.

EU is growing - slow - but growing. Not like Russia which is in recession. Russia economy structure is very poor - undeveloped. Russia is like gas station. It has not differentiated its economic structure. During 15 years of ex-KGB agent - criminal putin - Russia has managed to close many manufacturing industries and replaced that with import. Cash was flowing fro high oil & gas prices so this was "rational" for putin regime. But now, even those still existing manufacturing companies - needs to import some parts from EU, US and as RUB has crashed - they are in trouble. As they find this import more expensive and so their end products gets more expensive and so companies looses market share.

I find it curious and a little alarming, the knee-jerk cynicism dispalyed in the OP and many of the comments. There is widespread suspicion that al-Bagdadi either doesn't exist at all, or has already been killed, or will be "killed" at a later date when it's politically convenient, etc. There are many more variations on this theme.

Mind you, I'm not condemning these attitudes or the people who hold them. But I do think it's a bad a sign of how little we actually know and how quick we are to dismiss whatever we hear.

Somebody heads ISIS and it probably is Bagdadi, since that is what everybody believes. The majority of people are not often wrong about a matter of such immediate practical importance. If they had been wrong, then any action taken on the basis of that information would quickly run afoul of reality and would become absurd. When it's a matter of life and death, we either change our minds or change our behavior in short order. Furthermore, it's important to remember that despite the fact that the government and the news media are known liars, they cannot totally obscure the truth. No matter how deep in the Matrix one happens to be, he can always take comfort in the fact that there is a real world underneath it all, a real world that can be discovered through determined investigation.

You know things have gotten incredibly out of whack when otherwise rational people can seriously speculate that the leader of an enemy tribe doesn't even exist. Nobody ever said such things about Pol Pot or Manuel Noriega, for instance. This is the kind of errant thought that breeds in the gap left by ignorance, and it is a measure of our distance from the actual events. The good news is, this kind of ignorance can readily be cured by engaging with the situation. The bad news is, it seems to be the official policy of the United States to not engage with anything so that its leaders can remain in La-La Land. Ironically, Barack Obama's own speeches on this matter have been perfectly transparent. His very choice of words, "degrade and destroy ISIS," indicate that he expected the campaign against the Islamic State to be a protracted affair of minimal engagement, i.e. years and years of interminable airstrikes that would eventually "degrade" the caliphate at about the same pace that a mountain stream degrades a lump of granite. There was also the strange episode in which he mooted --  in public -- his idea to simultaneously bomb Assad's forces while bombing ISIS so that the former would not be strengthened relative to the latter. This is exactly what we would expect from an incompetent, faculty lounge president. And none of it has been hidden from view.

We are a nation and a culture very much steeped in unreality. Unreality breeds weakness, anxiety and confusion. People have a right to know the truth so that they can act. The human mind was made for truth; it's proper object is the quiddities or essences of material beings. When we have a government that literally cannot handle the truth, it sacrifices the wellbeing of its subjects to its own cowardice. The long and the short of it is, it's time to place the West under new management.

Well, that's the silliest thing I've seen this morning.

If true, how is it so easy to fool people?

The human mind was made to work which means assessing and evaluating the information it receives and responding in an appropriate manner given the circumstances.

Mystical platitudes won't get the job done.

The human mind was made for acting, not thinking. We are after all bipedal animals and our purpose is moving, reproduce and search for food. What we call logic and culture is nothing but a set of tools useful at achieving those goals. The human mind does not care about truth, it cares about achieving its goals.

Arabs cannot fight in conventional modern national armies, it does not fit their culture. They are excellent fighters only in militias.

From MofA

Even if this was only a near miss and not a lethal hit on the Caliph himself the operation is a success for the recently revealed intelligence cooperation between Syria, Iraq, Russia, Iran and Hizbullah. Given that it is obvious that ISIS is a US asset and also protected by Israel and Turkey, why would Iraq share any of that info with those nations.

Now, it is also possible that US will now sacrifice ISIS and feed intel to the Iraqis, knowing that it will be used to wipe out their loose ends.

It is a classic move for criminal enterprises - if you are using some stooges and then you need to close the operation, you kill the stooges so they cannot rat you out to the law.

Next, Russia wants to expand its territorial influence (kinda like what the land of kardhasians ass DO).

"If you take a look at the political world map and see what Russia is, it becomes evident that we don’t need neither foreign territories, nor natural resources. We’ve got everything in abundance. You know, those are all valid points!  But there is an oligarchial nature to the leadership of Russia, and that particular oligarchy would probably enjoy centralizing their power even more if they could, which would--like the US, China, or European countries as well as others--contribute more to corporate globalization than it would contribute to a democratic decentralization of power.  However, there are obvious exceptions--for example, Russia growing its own food and choosing not to accept GMO crops, which means that Russia can at least be self-sufficient...

We may never know who the real el Bahgdadi is, but the Russians know who Emir Umar al Shishani is, his Russian Chechen name is Tarkhan Batrashvili, one of the movements upper management.  Looks like somebody crossed a red line when they recruited him.

It is possible that al-Baghdadi (translation: "the one from Baghdad" according to your linked artile) is just a job title, not a single person.

As one office-holder gets killed, injured or decides to fade away into the sunset with a new ID, another one steps in to take his shoes with no change of job title.

Whether he was killed, injured, had a burial at sea, or simply retired from operation (to enjoy his 401k dividends), is TBD.

Until there is reliable evidence to any of these claims, rumors, propaganda and deception are normal for such conflicts.

If Baggii actually was a real person then I'm betting that the intelligence sharing between the Shiite Iraqi gov and Russia just paid its first big dividend to Iraq.

Hey guys we've got them on the run out of Syria and being the fearless (to have others die) leaders they are here is where they are. Now we can't bomb them on Iraqi territory (yet) but do what you want with this info

Hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, know what I mean?

Baghdadi has been careful to reveal little about himself and his whereabouts, and even his own fighters reportedly do not speak about seeing him face-to-face.

There's a good reason for this . . . the guy's REAL NAME is Simon Elliot.  He is a Jewish Israeli and was put in place by the CIA and Mossad.

Syrian army advances with help of Russian strikes; Putin reaches out to Saudis

In recent days, Russia has dramatically intensified its 10-day-old bombing campaign. Moscow says it is targeting the Islamic State militant group, but most of its strikes have hit other rebel factions fighting against Assad, some of which have the support of Gulf Arab powers, Turkey or the United States.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/10/11/us-mideast-crisis-syria-idUSKC...

Somebody please tell the Gulf Arab powers, Turkey, the US and its NATO retardniks:

YOU CAN'T HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT.

If they want to destroy ISIS, then the world power that is honestly trying to eliminate them may feel it necessary to reestablish the elected Syrian government in Damascus.

Who's to gainsay them after the US's coalition horsed around for a year and did nothing?

So as much as Obama, his henchmen and the MSM may cry and whine, maybe Tyler can tell them to STFU.

Now that the CIA has, for all practical purposes, been 'outed', the next hope of the CIA will be, that the sleeping population takes  no notice of these events, and they, the CIA, can resume the IS-IS boogey man in the United States.

Coming to a mall, wait, malls are all abandoned.  Ok, start over.

Coming to an area of large gathering to you, the new re-invented CIA-IS-IS, or CIAISIS!

Ha ha ha - it's hilariious that this article is spinning the Russian agression in Ukraine as victories. Yes, Russia forcibly took back the Crimea. For what gain exactly? The place is a huge economic drag, but it least it has nice beaches. Meanwhile, the adventure in Eastern Ukraine is a tar-baby that Putin can never get rid of. It will be a constant drain on resources that he can't back out of without losing face. Again, to gain what..... a Ukrainian rust belt?

And for all these negative gains, they have pissed off the rest of the world in a way that has gotten Russia selected out of the economic gene pool for the forseeable future.

And why shouldn't Russia's sphere of influence expand in the middle east? Russia defends and strengthens it's allies while avoiding  the clandestine CIA plots to destabilize realitively stable areas? So hold on ISIS strong man aka McCains boy was taken out? What was he treating patients in the Hospital Obumblers "gang who couldn;t shoot straight" attacked?
