The Dummy's Guide To The Syrian Conflict

Tyler Durden's picture

Russia’s intervention has made the complex pattern of alliances and enmities in Syria still more intricate. As The Guardian notes, the Assad regime and its local opponents are backed to differing degrees and in different configurations by military powers from near and far, so here is your cocktail-party-napkin-sized guide to who supports/opposes whom in Syria.

Consider it the Middle East's own "dot plot"

All "dots" subject to change.

It's the "Dummy's Guide to the Syrian Conflict" because they left Israel off the chart despite the fact that Israel admits to providing medical aid and airstrikes in support of the terrorists. Former Israeli ambassador Michael Oren has said that Israel supports Sunni terrorists because Israel is more afraid of the Shiites. And that's how Al Qaeda got to be Israel's ally (if they weren't allies long before).

Wow, those ISIS guys must be bad ass.   Just look at all those red dots after them, and yet they were having parades in the desert just a few weeks ago!  Russia's red dot must be redder and rounder, because they appear to be making a bit of an impact.  The US's red dot may in fact be defective, improperly aimed, or simply imaginary.  Someone should really look into that.  :p

Qatar/Saudi businessmen and princes have funded, and continue to financially support ISIS. But the governments of these countries (synonymous with princes and businessmen, anyway) are supporting Islamist rebels like Jabhat al-Nusra (al-Qaeda affiliate) in the fight against the Assad regime. Ergodan is too much of a shithead to make peace with the Kurds and fight ISIS.

I wouldn't get too cozy with Putin, Rouhani and Assad. They rule over countries with billionaire oligarchs and a debt-backed credit money system, same as we have in the US.

What a complete bullshit chart.  Russia, US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey on the same side opposing ISIS which was made in USA? You would have to be a complete dummy to believe that:

ISIS: The jihadist movement stamped “Made in America”

The fact remains, however, that the US, the major European powers, and their regional allies all previously lent financial, military and political support to ISIS and similar groups, which have “Made in the USA” stamped all over them. They have, until now, played a significant part in Washington’s efforts to overthrow the regime of President Bashar al-Assad in Syria, as part of a broader effort to gain control of the region’s vast energy resources and transit routes.

The Western powers, flush with success after organising an Islamist insurgency in Benghazi in order to justify NATO’s overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi in Libya, thought they could use similar forces to overthrow Assad in Syria, whose regime draws its main base of support from the Alawite sect, a Shi’a offshoot, and Sunni businessmen.

For three years, the US, along with the Gulf states and Turkey, poured billions into “opposition” groups, supposedly to unnamed “moderates,” but in reality to Al Qaeda-linked Sunni groups such as al-Nusra and ISIS to spearhead a sectarian war. The US, Turkey and Jordan have operated a base in Jordan where US instructors trained dozens of ISIS members. In an article last year, the New York Times confirmed that the CIA assisted Arab governments and Turkey by airlifting weaponry to these groups in Jordan and Turkey. The Guardian reported last March that British and French instructors were also involved.

Other ISIS members were trained near Incirlik Air Base near Adana, Turkey, where US forces are based.

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2014/07/30/isis-j30.html

The Guardian, author of the guide, is only a guardian of CIA's propaganda. Why is Israel not shown on the chart? Calling it worthless would be to compliment it.

Turkey is not fighting ISIS but facilitating it. The USA considers ISIS a geopolitical asset and only pretends to bomb it. Documents from wiki-leaks and from the investigation in the Benghazi incident reveal that the USA has been grooming and facilitating Islamic radicals in Syria since 2006, along with money from Saudi and Qatar.

The whole situation is much simpler than it seems if you strip off the false narratives and political lies. Follow the money.

Nobody REALLY buys the "moderate rebel" story, do they?

Everyone who wants to can take Uncle Sam's money & firepower and do whatever they want with it...and this is policy?

This is "learn how to treat all the different Arabs of the M.E. the same way the israelis treat the Palestinians...forever."

No conflict resolution, just conflict.

Let's hear it for AmeriKa's moral compass! Buried firmly up the ass of some Zio creeps and fundie thugs!

In American public schools critical thinking is punished. Even if a teacher is wrong they are trained to not say anything about it, otherwise they get punished for daring to challenge the teachers authority.

Its not that they're brain dead, its more Pavlovian than that. They have been trained since the 1970's to swallow everything without question or they will be punished and/or ostracized. Until the advent of the US Dept of Education(1979 yay Carter /s), public schooling in this country was world leading. Now look where we sit. You wonder why these poor ingorant fools don't think for themselves, ask any questions or act morally? I don't, I know why.

Again, "moderate rebels"? It doesn't exist. Opponent to the regime means muslim brotherhood, the organization that were presented as "the opposition" during the farce called "the arab spring". Spring of steaming horseshit.

The ME countries need coercive government or the allah lovers go apeshit. Every fucking time. Assad's regime is a non religious one, no fucking crescent on the flag. I don't know, look at pictures of his wife (shitty example but it gives an idea). And Syria has been at peace until Assad refused to let a Qatari pipeline run through his country. From there, oppostion (that is allah lovers but yeah, they are civilians and yeah sometimes civilians have guns), western sanctions, no more supllies of tear gas for the police and step by step, civil war, or more precisely inside war from the West and its allies, the towel dudes.

Former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld was questioned about this chart.

His reply:

Reports that say that something hasn't happened are always interesting to me, because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know. And if one looks throughout the history of our country and other free countries, it is the latter category that tend to be the difficult ones.
