Democratic Debate Post Mortem (In 1 Poignant Image)

Tyler Durden's picture

Sanders by a landslide...

In the Polls..

Drudge...

CNN...

In Searches...

And On Twitter...

*  *  *

So to sum up...It's lonely sometimes...

*  *  *

Some key excerpts...

Jane Wells summed up one exchange perfectly as Hillary's alleged law-breaking was conveniently swept under the carpet...

And Benghazi won the early rounds...

But Wall Street "won" overall...

Hillary and her average-American-ness...

On College education affordability (and pretty much everything else)...

They are going to crank up the presses even if Rand Paul is elected....and he will beg them to do it.....because... 'we are running out of money'...

As folks move to cash as interest rates go negative more cash will be 'needed'.

They could try to outlaw cash but I just think the confusion would be monumental. I believe they will stick to the usual hyper inflation script. Longerer wheelbarrows...

An important twitter statistic was left out.

Followers gained just by Donald Trump tonight: 76,474

Not an outright Trump supporter but all the expansion of government rhetoric is feeding one of the biggest rabble-rousers in US politics in some time.

What a shock. i don't think Israel was mentioned a single time. Contrast with republican debates where the pandering to Israel and warmongering to obtain the blessing and funding of Sheldon Adelson big bucks was so bad that even Anne Coulter tweeted "How many F**king Jews do they think there are in this country?". My favorite Dem, Jim Webb did not impress. He's not a good debater. What a shame. I think Bernie Sanders won the debate hands down, on style and sound bites  - with some substance on many issues. I think the majority of Democratic sheeple will say Hillary won the debate, with Sanders a fairly close second.

All in all, I think the Democrats were better in discussing and addressing issues than the Republican hacks did-though they were still very poor in addressing real issues. The republicans need some better candidates. Rand Paul has disappointed. Too much politics rather than speaking the Truth. I wish Ron Paul or Pat Buchanan were in the race. Trump is entertaining and makes some good points  -but we could certainly do much better. Unfortunately, I am not swayed in my conviction that the Powers that be will impose Hillary as our next president.

The "debate" was simply the political equivalent of TV wrestling.

It was scripted event with Hillary and the four stiffs. The intent was to make Hillary look heroic and presidential and to shield her from any hard shots.

WAPO, NY & LA Times are all gushing about Hilary's brilliant performance.

The two images that stick with me are:

1) Hillary stupidly and forcefully asserting that she served as the Senator for Wall Street.

2) Lincoln Chafee closing with a declaration that he was proud of his spotless non-criminal record while serving the public.

Hillary tried to run a general election theme of bashing Republicans, while Bernie spent his time bashing Wall Street and the Surveillance State. My guess is that Bernie will rise and Hillary will stay the same.

Jim Webb looks like his mother dressed him for his school portrait with a too-tight tie that belonged to his little brother. Too bad. I think he actually cares about America.

Chaffee seems to be a sort of slightly-retarded Addams Family candidate that belongs in the faculty lounge.

O' Malley is the one I would trust the least, even over Hillary. Just oily and insincere. My impression is that he is a prepaid cabinet member in the Rodham Administration as reward for serving as the faked-up un-alternative to Hillary.

One additional interesting note is that Hillary seems to have found God in her time of e-mail trial. She mentioned his name repeatedly, while nobody else seem to have done so that I can recall. I assume she promised Him a cabinet post as well if he will only put his thumb on the scale for her.

Bernie's policy initiative on reducing income inequality:

"Increasing the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour by 2020.  In the year 2015, no one who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty."

Well Bernie, virtually none of the folks you're trying to help will work anywhere near 40 hours a week and will still be living in poverty.  Good lord, first the ACA and the completely predictable decline in full-time jobs and possibly this?  Looks like in the future Americans will be working for 3-4 companies at the same time: data entry in the morning, call center mid-day, table-waiting at dinner, and bartending at night!  What a socialist utopia.

The great tragic irony of all this is that big corporations will still get the money whether it be welfare spent on Pampers (PG), or SNAP (Walmart), or road construction (CAT).

All this bullshit about how great capitalism is, it's just built on piling up more debt. Money is debt. Somebody has to hold the other side of that piece of paper.

Morons who say they love money, but hate govermant are like the fish that love the worm, but hate the hook.

The people running the show preach about our "rugged individuality," but that just creates an atomized society, where people only communicate through the money and mass media used to own them. Look around, open your eyes. Those other people around your are in their little boxes too. Figure out how to break those walls used to own you and one of the biggest is "capitalism."

Money is treated as both medium of exchange and store of value. In the body, blood is the medium and fat is the store. Mix them up too much and you are dead. Just like this country. Clogged arteries, poor circulation and high blood pressure. Otherwise known as trickle down economics and QE to try to compensate.

The country is fucked and those who break the walls around themselves and those of the people around them, will survive. Guns just push you further into your little hole, whether they can sell you stuff.

"Rigged markets by a few people controlling everything is not Capitalism is any way, shape or form."

Right. It's just what Capitalism eventually turns into, every single freaking time, without exception.

I remember in the waning days of Communism, how many Communists there were who were saying "no, really, it's a good system, it just needs to be done right!" Now, during the waning days of Capitalism, we see the same legions coming out of the woodwork to collectively proclaim "no, really, it's a good system, it just needs to be done right!"

Maybe, just maybe, the idea of allowing capital to be not just a primary force, but the alpha and omega of a society, with absolute dictatorial control of literally all systems, just might possibly be a bad thing?

Wed, 10/14/2015 - 08:57 | 6666464 shovelhead

Maybe it's not a capital problem at all but rather a human problem.

I'll bet with enough electro-shock therapy we could turn all the Hebes into plebes and turn the gunrunners into bumsunners.

Free markets and capitalism are not the same thing. The market is like the game among the players on the field. Capitalism, the medium of exchange, the financial system, is the field.

There was a time when government was private too. It was called "monarchy." The people running things lost sight of their larger function to society and it had to be turned into a public trust. The banks are going the same way.

Nobody cares if she is a lesbian or straight. The bottom line is she's a phony!!!

Affirming comments she made in 2013 to the Daily Mail, Flowers replied to Klein, "I know that Bill acknowledged to me that he was aware that she (Hillary) had a propensity for women and he didn't care."

"I'm not saying that she is a lesbian, but he acknowledged that she, as we say down on Arkansas, took a liking to women."

Not according to CBS. Today's morning show gave it all to Clinton.

One of Hillary Clinton's biggest challenges in the Democratic primary so far has been overcoming perceptions that she's inauthentic. With a polished and clearly well-prepared debate performance on Tuesday night, Clinton may not have shed that perception, but she did manage to make the case that she is the best prepared of all the Democratic candidates to take the progressive fight to Republicans.

I read all the time about dumb Americans who just want to watch football, so this is the alternative? I think I'll just gouge my eyes out with a spoon

Truly pathetic that in a country of 308 million people, that the best and the brightest that  the democratic party can give the people is another Clinton and an old commie.

Think about this for a minute.

Pathetic is watching a hooker fall of her platforms.  I have thought about it for more than a minute, and the word is scary.

Ed Morrissey at HotAir says Hillary won even though she lost most/all the focus groups.

Even Red State says as much:  http://www.redstate.com/2015/10/14/anderson-cooper-and-hillary-clinton-w...

Bernie is a shill for Clinton. His failure to attack her on the email issue proves it. The Clinton machine learned a long time ago that the best way to control the enemy is to create the enemy. Sanders has a deal for a sweet appointment (vice president?) by pulling out of the race at a late date. What the Clinton machine fails to understand is that Bernie's supportors hate Clinton and will not vote for her, even without Bernie in the race.

It doesn't matter who those voters hate more, Hillary vs. Sanders, what matters at election time is who they hate the least, Hillary vs. whoever wins the Republican nomination.

As much as Sanders voters hate Clinton, you know they won't vote Republican, even if it means voting for Hillary.

And you're spot on about Sanders pulling out at the last minute, he's just a "fluffer horse" for Hillary's voters. Google if you don't know the term.

I disagree, derry.  Every race has a Bernie, and none of the Bernies ever really want to be president.  They are realistic, they know what that shit entails.  They just want to hold a rilly big microphone for a little while.

Bernie just assumed that he would end up like all the other Bernies at this stage . . .no money, sinking polls.  Fun while it lasted.

Suddenly, it has become real for Bernie, like a pimple faced kid about to get laid for the first time, scared shitless that he might succeed!

When Bernie took the criminal aspect of Hillary's behavior off the table, he was conceding.

Bernie may very well drop out of the race while leading in the polls.

What's the Vegas line as to how Hillary will identify, you know, to score populist election points?

Animal?

Vegitable?

Mineral?

“Let me say something that may not be great politics, but I think the secretary is right, and that is the American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damned emails!

“The middle class Anderson, and let me say something about the media as well. I go around the country talk to a whole lot of people, middle class in this country is collapsing. We have twenty-seven million people living in poverty. We have massive wealth and income inequality. Our trade policies have cost us millions of decent jobs. The American people want to know whether we’re going to have a democracy or an oligarchy as a result of Citizens United.

“Enough of the emails! Let’s talk about the real issues facing America!”

"On this stage you didn't hear anyone denigrate women, you didn't hear anyone make racist comments about new immigrants, you didn't hear anyone speak ill of anyone because of their religious belief,"

"What you heard was an honest debate of what will move us forward, to lead to a clean electric grid by 2050, and employ more of our people, rebuild our cities and towns, educate our children at higher and better levels, and include more people in the economic and social life in our country."

But since Sanders would be FAR too disruptive to the status quo, it doesn't matter one iota how popular he is with the proles, the party machine will make certain he isn't nominated. End of story.

So, as with all of these phony "debates," move along, nothing to see here.

Things are sometimes not what they appear to be.

The Democrat "debate" was not a debate, but an exercise in political theatre designed to help Hillary.

Think of it as a pro wrestling show with a "good guy" (Hillary) and four clownish stiffs.

One of the stiffs (Bernie) was assigned the job of heading off the left-wing moonbats and protecting Hillary from being torn apart by the left.

Evidence: Hillary is extremely vulnerable on Bengazi and the email server scandal.  Bernie stood up on his hind legs and basically said that me (and my leftist followers) declare these issues off limiits.

The other stiffs (O'Malley, Chafee, and Webb) were selected for their stupidity, or vanity, or irrelevance to the Democrat base.  They were on stage simply to make Hillary look smart and confident, and not have to worry about scewing up and taking a hard shot.

The "debate" was what political conventions have become: informercials based on pre-scripted mini-dramas to make the chosen personality look heroic.
