How To Create A Gun-Free America In 5 'Easy' Steps

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Austin Bragg via Reason.com,

Want to create a gun-free America in 5 easy steps?

Here's all there is to it:

Step 1: Elect. For a gun-free America, the first thing you'll need is two-thirds of Congress. So elect a minimum of 67 Senators and 290 Representatives who are on your side.

Step 2: Propose. Then, have them vote to propose an amendment to the Constitution which repeals Second Amendment gun rights for all Americans.

Step 3: Ratify. Then convince the legislators of 38 states to ratify that change.

At this point, the Second Amendment is history, but you've done nothing to decrease gun violence. All you've done is remove the barrier for Congress to act.

Step 4: Legislate. You need to enact "common sense" reform.

You can try to do what Australia did and...ban all guns? That's not at all what they did, but whatever, fuck it. Go big or go home, right?

It will have to be passed by Congress and signed by the president.

Great! The law is passed and guns are now illegal.  The only thing left to do is...

Step 5: Enforce. Guns won't just disappear because you passed a law. You need to confiscate some 350 million guns scattered among 330 Million Americans.

Sure, you can try a buy-back program like Australia, but like Australia that will still leave behind anywhere from 60 percent to 80 percent of privately owned firearms.

The rest you have to take.

You'll need the police, the FBI, the ATF or the National Guard—all known for their nuanced approach to potentially dangerous situations—to go door-to-door, through 3.8 million square miles of this country and take guns, by force, from thousands, if not, millions of well-armed individuals. Many of whom would rather start a civil war than acquiesce.

So inevitably gun violence, which is currently at a historic low, will skyrocket.

But that is how you get a gun-free America in five easy steps.

(For more in that vein, read this piece by Charles C.W. Cooke of National Review.)

Anyhow, there is no mechanism for somebody to say "hey that guy over there with his tongue in the end of his  gun...

That sounds like a self-correcting situation.

"15 years mandatory"  at the cost of $100,000 per year?  Brilliant!  The secret to economic health is a big expensive gulag system -- full of aging prisoners with health needs.

Here's a bit of lesson in Federal authority in rural areas.  This was told to me by a young fed agent back in the 70s.  He had transferred to small city in the south.  He was looking to question an individual who lived in the hills.  His boss said OK, how are you going to approach this.  Young agent said: I'll drive up there and knock on the door.  Old agent said: no you won't, you'll never make it.  They'll hear your car door shut down by the gate.  They'll wait until you're a few minutes up the driveway, then they'll let the dogs out.

If you want to see this individual, leave word with the postmaster and he'll pass it on.  He'll come down to see you when he's ready.  That's the way it is here.

So true, and that's in peacetime.

In a shit-hitting-the-fan-situation, every state, local, and federal thug with a uniform will have to use the low crawl to get from point A to point B lest they get their heads shot off. I'm talking face down in the dirt low crawl or else.

Never in the history of post-imperial police states have has the citizenry been armed such as they are today in America.

"He was looking to question an individual who lived in the hills."

That should be qualified. Did he forget to pay the due on his PO Box for one month, or does the questioning have to do with him raping school girls? In the latter case, I'm all for your drone scenario, but not before they hit his house with a TOW and then they can bulldoze the whole fucking place and turn it into a strip mall. Spare the dogs though.

Here in America a man is entitled to trial by a jury of his peers. For someone so adamant about following the law you sure seem willing to forgo large portions of it in support of an anti-freedom agenda......

Agreed. But the agent has no right to go up there and question "the hermit" if he's been accused of raping school girls? Bullshit. The entire local PD has the right to go up there and question him -- to his face. Don't tell us the cops have to send this guy a registered receipt letter from the post office. Please...

BTW. If it were your daughter in question, I highly doubt you'd be wiating for "judge and jury" By your own words, I'd reckon you might want to scoot up there and have a few words with our hermit yourself...

Actually, knives kill more people than guns; so we should ban knives.  But  then we won't be able to cut our meat; so we all become vegans; if we all become vegans then major portions of the US economy would disappear and GDP would go even more negative; restaurants, pig and cattle farming, chickens (guess the Libs will be happy when Chick fil-a goes bankrupt), the ag psychos who doctor meat with hormones, etc.  Plus people would presumably live longer causing more stress on social security, while tax receipts would decline every year.

So..... you lefty gun grabbing commie bastards, how will you do income redistribution when there's no income left?

Not true at all . . . knives are used to kill (murder) more people than rifles but far more murders are comitted using hand guns (about 8,150 in 2011) as opposed to knives (something around 1,500 or so).

The mainstay of any good insurgency for the last 100 years has been rusty old bolt-action rifles.

Even if you took away every modern sporting rifle (AR,AK,etc) and semi-auto battle rifle currently in civilian hands, there would still be more than enough "high-powered" deer rifles in circulation for a successful insurgency. Just venturing out in the open could a fatal. That's what wins insurgencies. Fear of well-placed shots and the well-placed shots themselves can grind down any oppressor, foreign or domestic.

This guy really overthought this.  All .gov would have to do is stage some kind of nationwide disaster or disease outbreak.  In a couple of weeks all but a few thousand holdouts would gladly turn in their guns for a spot in the FEMA camp where there is food, meds and security.  The rest could easily be branded terrorists and mopped up.  An EMP or revamped Ebola outbreak would do the trick.  After a couple of weeks with no food, running water and security most people would be begging to get in the FEMA camp and turn in their own mothers to do so.

http://bigstory.ap.org/article/7159a8096ed045008fc86c00afe0d289/gun-shop...

So, instead of outlawing them, they could fuck things up so bad otherwise no one will sell you one, let alone make one.  Of course, this ends in disaster as well.

It's probably best to buy what you can, get some ammo, and wait for the storm.  Juding US history, including recent bs overseas, you can beat said storm is coming.

Unfortunately its much easier than in this video - rather than pass an amendment all you need to do is win the White House in 2016, replace one Supreme Court Justice and then overturn the "Heller" decision that said "keeping and bearing arms" is an individual right.  Now the second amedment applies only to "militias" which I'm sure the Supremes could twist to mean only the National Guard.

Then you could jump right to Step 3 - though its much more likely to be done incrementally by first banning assault rifles, banning standard capacity magazines, eliminating foreign imports of ammo and parts, bankrupting gun manufacturers by opening them up to lawsuits, universal background checks followed by universal registration, limits on ammo and ammo purchases.  Then you slowly start banning more individual guns and categories of guns (semi-auto pistols, semi-auto rifles, semi-auto shotguns, "large" calibers and so on)...until there's nothing left that's legal.  It will take a few more years, but at least we'll have "done something".

Witness New York and Conneticut where gun registration laws were passed and ignored by over 90% of estimated gun owners.  No one has risen up to fight for their rights, but we've managed to create a few million felons from law abiding citizens.  It looks like more of a "Mexican standoff" than civil war - the citizens disobey, but the government knows it can't go door to door.  In rural areas, many in law enforcement have pledged that they won't even enforce the new edicts.

Our leaders are hell bent on extending this insanity to the entire US - but at what cost?  Will supporters of the constitution be happy with continued civil disobediance as their government names them all felons?  Who knows.

While I disagree with most of what you wrote, the thing we generally DO agree on is that what is in the constitution doesn't matter.

The fuckers in congress and the Supreme Court ignore that anyway....because Americans ALLOW IT.

So what happens......

happens.

The constitution does matter. It codifies the inalienable rights given to us by the Creator (however you want to define that) as stated in the Declaration of Independence. This still stands and can still be argued in court.

Now the courts in the USSA are corporate civil / maritime courts which are subsidiaries of the U.S. (District of Columbia) Corporation. But they do not want the vast majority of people in America to know this. Hence they have to listen to constitutional arguments from Sovereign Citizens and will even allow them to win cases if they can unlock the tangled web of deceit that has been played through multiple bankruptcies and corporate reorgs. But if you then write a book (or otherwise publish) about your win and how to acheive said win, then they will disappear you real quick. Never forget that the CIA merged with the Mafia at the end of WWII. They have perfected the takeout and chaos in general.

Paint filled balloons and any firearm will pretty much terrorize and neutralize any mechanized state sponsored terrorist living off the TaxPayer.  Just ask the Russians in Afghanistan who fought there during that 10 year war.

Any family that has a loved one injured or killed in a gun free zone needs to start suing the owners of that property for denial of the right to self defense. All 50 states have concealed carry now since Illinois was forced in to it, so property owners/management that denies you that constitutionl right needs to pay.

i've got a better idea, finish making america a democracy, then let the majority 330,000,000 million armed citizens make some improvements where needed.

i'm sick of any politician even using the word constitution, it's been used as toilet paper since 2008.

We have the Second Amendment to protect - and EFFECT - the divine right of Individual Sovereignty granted to us in covenant with the perfect, infinite, eternal, living, present, ineffable, invisible, holy, righteous, and unique Creator of the universe, our named Sovereign, God Almighty.

Those who prefer to be slaves or slave masters, in league with monarchy, popery, or the "thousands upon thousands of years of despotism" we came here to Isaiah's actual foretold "Zion" to escape, are welcome to depart soon as the long-awaited Apocalypse is imminent.

All shall come to understand the design on our freedom Gog and Babylon have, as foretold: the same false-Jew Khazar "Synagogue of Satan"/papist/homo Christ-killing faction which together ran "the Wall Street of slavery" at Rome for 2,000 years after they crucified tens of thousands of Christs, and Immanuel to build the Roman Empire/Church, and which now controls Capitol Hill, Hollywood Babylon, Wall Street and Organized Crime, shall be recognized as the "Beast" they are and shall, by grace, be cast down accordingly, praise God.

I've already seen posters featuring an image of an assault rifle with the words, "Go ahead, come and get it." It will be bloodier than the first civil war.

Not that I in ANY way support it, but there's an easier way. The 2nd Amendment specifically mentions the arms, but not the ammo. Just ban the sale of ammo and reloading supplies. Sure, I suspect that would be challenged with the point that bearing arms is useless without ammo to feed them, so that must have been an implied right. But I'm sure the gun grabbers have already suggested what I just mentioned.
