Government Corruption Tops List of Americans’ Fears

George Washington's picture

Time reports:

Corruption of government officials is currently Americans’ number one fear, according to a recent survey by researchers at Chapman University.

The researchers asked a random sample of 1,541 adults to rate the level of fear for 88 different fear options across a variety of domains (like crime and natural disasters). Based on their findings, here were the top 10 fears for 2015:

  • Corruption of government officials (58.0%)
  • Cyber-terrorism (44.8%)
  • Corporate tracking of personal information (44.6%)
  • Terrorist attacks (44.4%)
  • Government tracking of personal information (41.4%)
  • Bio-warfare (40.9%)
  • Identity theft (39.6%)
  • Economic collapse (39.2%)
  • Running out of money in the future (37.4%)
  • Credit card fraud (36.9%)

Last month, Gallup found that 75% of Americans said they believe corruption is widespread in the government (up from 66% percent in 2009).

Also last month, Gallup found that a record low 38% of Americans trust the government to handle domestic problems. And half of Americans think that the government is an immediate threat to us.

We at Washington’s Blog are non-partisan and non-dogmatic. We don’t believe that government is inherently good or inherently bad.  We instead believe that each government has to be analyzed to determine its degree of honesty or corruption.

Unfortunately, it is T-H-O-R-O-U-G-H-L-Y documented  that systemic corruption has destroyed America … as admitted by politicians on both sides of the political aisle.

(Sadly, America is not alone … governments worldwide are sliding down into mud pits of corruption.)

Postscript:  Mainstream politicians and media are trying to browbeat Americans into trusting our government more. For example, Time Magazine tries to make fun of Americans who don’t trust the government … by comparing them to people who believe in  aliens and the paranormal.

Likewise, Obama frequently chides Americans for distrusting their government.

But we Americans don’t trust our government because our government has repeatedly demonstrated through its actions that it is corrupt and untrustworthy.

Corruption is like a fungus or a virus that breeds and spreads of its own accord until it totally engulfs and completely consumes the host upon which it itself depends.  This is the sorry state of our own government.  May God help us all.

Speaking of corruption, Gina McCarthy an assistant at the EPA who turned off the radiation monitor

EPA Rots From the Head Down, Impeachment Proceedings Underway for Gina McCarthy The EPA has been part of the Fukushima Coverup.   They took the radiation readings after Fukushima when we needed them the most.     They stopped testing milk for radiation.    They have had so many station down for so long, it is almost laughable.

McCarthy doesn't even know what the CO2 percent in air is, but she throws down the whole playbook for the Globalists money transfer schemes using agreements and carbon credits.

This impeachment process is current, just be started now.

My data is from radnet (EPA) they never lie to the upside on radiation!

Its specifically for Corvallis Oregon, the Beta is out of control, spike to 480 CPM and averages of 150 CPM.

At 150 CPM total Beta and Gamma, a year exposure gives a significant risk of cancer

Check out the actual article.

How can you trust governors that meet in secret, their meetings subject to no outside scrutiny, and the results of their meetings impacting every aspect of our lives, from what is considered a human being, who should be POTUS, and forcing your kid to take a bus 20 miles to school?

If the Supreme Court will not, and is not bound to do so, open their shenanigans to the public, the all seeing eye of the TV screen, it's unlikely corruption will ever be stopped.  Only increasing.

Until the blood of the average citizen acting as vigilante for the rest us, is spilled on the courthouse floor, nothing about this country wil ever change for the good offices of the people.

Assuming this commenter is being totally sarc --- I always hate it when the douchetards believe in all this so-called "black budget" bullcrap!

No, those $800 hammers never cost $800 --- $60 goes to the mfr. for a $10 hammer, while the rest goes to offshore bank accounts of those involved.

There's never been a full-on, forensic audt of the CIA (nor probably the DIA/NSA/FBI, etc.) --- since one was ordered shortly before President Kennedy was assassinated, but never came to fruition, naturally!

We just learned from an interview with the generals that $500 million went for 5 Syrian rebels, who promptly gave up their American-supplied weapons and vacated the field of combat!

Now where do you supposed that $500 million went to!

And I hate it when douchetards that have done no investigation into it proclaim that it's impossible.

But don't take my word for it. Donald Rumsfeld would be happy to tell you (again) about $2.3 trillion that went missing from the Pentagon budget in 2001 alone. And that's just the tip of the penis.

And yet they continue to vote for more government.

More government cannot fix corrupt government. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The only way to prevent corrupt government is small government. Government is not evil, it is a means to an end. But it will always corrupt therefore the smaller the government the better. But the American people and Western Civilization have forgotten this lesson, and they will pay harshly for it.

Purge Congress! Oh wait, Russia is the only major dispensing Justice today and that is our only hope to bring the American Empire criminal fascist to Justice.

American and European citizens are captive victims of the Ally fascist criminals and their corrupt totalitarian governments but the rest of the world, namely Russia, China and other nations, will not tolerate the fascist immoral business model or the psychopathic thrust of American military power.

You present no argument VW, that is dogma, idiot. Ha. Ha. Ha.

I presented a logical progression of events in that if the American People can’t bring the fascist criminals in government to Justice, the other nations that are able to act in their own self-interest will take action against the American Fascist World Empire. That is what is happening today as Russia is kicking American CIA Islamic State terrorist ass. Does that make you sad, loser?

I suppose, being a helpless American, you feel no remorse for the millions of lives and destruction of complete countries that was done in the name of the USA over the last 15 years by the bankster American Empire. Why should the rest of the world care about the fate of the American citizen? They don’t!

Other nations will act in their own self-interest against the criminals which will be beneficial to helpless Americans that are incapable of bringing the criminals to Justice.

Don’t like that do you VW? Well, present an argument or shut up whiney boy.

I live out in the rural West in the tall timber with an orchard, garden and a tall fence around my property but the deer and elk jump over my fence; fair enough for me.

Somewhere along this path our governments became a religion. No longer based on truths and justice but on a cult like faith system. As dangerous as can be from a historical view. Bad things happen everytime any society gets to this place.

In that light. Getting that dog back on the leash is no simple feat. This Humpty Dumpty system is held up by us all working for this system. Take that away and the walls come down very fast. That part is clear to me. What is not clear is how does it get put to right after it falls. A single standard for all is a tough nut indeed.

I like the stall idea best to deal with the first issue. The second issue? Accountability seems the best place to start.

To me, gubmint corruption is not the fear, but gubmint itself.  Gubmint is by nature a cancer on the citizenry.  The sorts of people who gravitate toward political power - Obama being a perfect example - tend to be warped if not outright ill, and they fuel the cancer.  The citizenry is left to perpetually fight this disease that would consume it.  Remission/containment - limited gubmint - is the best that can be hoped for, the goal.  And when the citizenry goes soft, falls for the propaganda....  Stage IV.

Thomas Jefferson wrote that a people cannot be ignorant and also be free.

Psychopath/sociopath control freaks come to rule government and use it for tyranny. This has happened throughout history. The only protection from this is an informed, educated people who are taught to recognize this. --Many of the American founders sought to keep government as small, limited, and divided as possible - in order to limit the resources available for tyranny. But, in less than a 100 years, that effort failed at the end of the American Civil War. The central government grew and later psychopaths led the nation on the path of imperialism (always disguised as something else).

Thomas Jefferson also proposed that money be set aside to teach all Americans what's required if they were to maintain a free democratic republic. - - His proposal was rejected.

And now the psychopaths control both the 'education' system and the media.

The US government is one part of the “Team”. The team’s function is to maintain wealth distribution and class structure. At the top are major corporations and wealthy families. Elected and unelected people in government do the bidding of the financial elite (it appears the financial elite is preparing to install Hillary Clinton as President in 2017). The military is charged with maintaining the global status quo. Locally, social order is maintained by the police, court system, DA office, etc. Major media outlets, large corporations in their own right, put out non-stop propaganda supporting wealth distribution and class structure.  Recall Joseph Goebbels comment- “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it”. The overall goal of the team is to transfer as much wealth as possible from working people to the wealthiest segments of society.

People often react to news and facts in a naive way. They "don't believe it can be all that bad". But, the entire established ruling system is criminal and rotten to the core. (And the politicians are only one part of that.) Its been that way for a very long time. It doesn't have to be that way, but a naive citizenry who feels powerless won't change it.
