Gold ETF Holdings Surge Most In 9 Months
Amid the best 4-day gains in gold prices since January, Gold ETFs have seen a surge in holdings in the last 2 days. The 412,000 try ounce increase in physical holdings at GLD is the largest in 9 months and lifts the total to 3 month highs at 22.5 million troy ounces (or 700 metric tons).
The last time we saw holdings surge like this, gold prices rose over 12%.

TYLER I Think Your Right, GLD doesn't have "Troy" ounces, they have "TRY" ounces, meaning its Trying to be real physical GOLD...

PMs seem to be the only safe haven out there. At least if you take possession.

If they are such a safe haven, then why in 2008 did they DROP when everything else went to hell? Oh, and PMs and stocks rose after 2008 becasue of a flood of "free" money from QE.
Why are you a sock puppet? 18 weeks and you probably will never learn anything.
Because leveraged portfolios purged paper gold for quick liquidity to meet margin calls.
Why do you equate paper gold and silver futures traded on the Comex to real physical precious metals?
GLD is a necessity for Wall Street in such times.
Keep people away front allocated physical accounts.
But you can only get the gold if you redeem 100 million shares, give up your passport, tell us where the gold will be, and only in a month with oysters in 'em.
I have come to view GLD holdings as the equivalent of a check-kiting scheme. First you deposit a "basket" of paper. Soon thereafter you withdraw a basket of real metal. The holes in the non-audited custodian/sub-custodian arrangements really render any and all reporting by GLD useless. I am not sure why anyone would even bother to read them.
The Tylers knows that too.
So why is ZH reporting this GLD nonsense? It doesn't mean a thing.
