Speaking of 1984...

Anyone running for a public office, instead of posturing at the podium, should be strapped into an electric chair and hooked-up to a lie detector.

At the end of their term they should take the “Old Sparky Ride” again and go through the list of their election promises and deeds.  ;-)

I'd rather have some due process.  At the end of their terms, put them on trial for corruption without exception, no matter how good of a job they did.

I'd rather have sortition, with one-year terms, and bribery actually made illegal with both parties punished.

I know that will never happen.

Instead, we have government by the highest bidder: https://www.opensecrets.org/overview/

The Athenians used sortition.  They also went to war.  A lot.  I think that the prospect of punishment for misdeeds is the kicker.  Put some skin in the game, or you cannot play.  Without that, I don't think it really matters how somebody is selected.

There is no problem with private shops using CCTV, after all you arent forced to go in there. More and more thouigh private video feeds are being fed to companies like Stratfor that collect the streams and use facial recognition to track people around the world.

Sun, 10/18/2015 - 14:08 | 6682322 glenlloyd

It's not that it's being fed to companies, it's that it's being sold to companies. With spending down they have to monetize anything they can, and their video feed can be a source of income. Whether the law allows this or not I can't say, but you bet that the legality won't be addressed until after the lawsuits start.

Do I think that's right? No, do I worry that it's becoming common? Yes. Will I frequent an establishment known to sell their vid stream to a company like Stratfor? No...

 - Obama's recent Executive Order allowing data mining for sale ...  from the link above :

...In the last couple of days, yet another big blow for consumers with the newest executive order that says “the government knows what’s best for you”, which I tend not to agree with most of the time.  This is really bad as it’s giving data sellers a license to go hog wild.  In the health care area, many get around selling your actual data and will sell one of their proprietary formula scores about you.  This helps them get around HIPAA and it gets used in some risk assessment or resold again.  Here’s the first two paragraphs of the Obama Executive Order on Behavior Science Insights and it’s certainly more than enough to make your hair stand on end.

I have said many times in all the White House meetings on privacy, not once could they mutter the words “data sellers” at all.  White House would always dance around it and followed the same old failed routine of having lawyers write verbiage that any old coder could work right around the interpretation.  It happens the time.  I think also they made up this name: “ behavioral science insights” and I almost expect them to begin calling health insurance a science pretty soon.  Actually a couple years ago I wrote a post to that effect as well.

“A growing body of evidence demonstrates that behavioral science insights -- research findings from fields such as behavioral economics and psychology about how people make decisions and act on them -- can be used to design government policies to better serve the American people.

Where Federal policies have been designed to reflect behavioral science insights, they have substantially improved outcomes for the individuals, families, communities, and businesses those policies serve. For example, automatic enrollment and automatic escalation in retirement savings plans have made it easier to save for the future, and have helped Americans accumulate billions of dollars in additional retirement savings. Similarly, streamlining the application process for Federal financial aid has made college more financially accessible for millions of students.”

thus the continued calls to get rid of cash - pass these articles on to others, and USE CASH as often as you can

you can bet some outfit is datamining all zh posts and will monetize it ....   selfcensorship, BitcheZ

Most of them are luckless potheads, dopeheads who favor a Libertarian flavored legalization of everything from dope to prostitution, or worse.  And they typically cannot figure out why their lives are such a dismal mess.  Blame the man!  Hahahahaha!

The commiserating comradery of the delusional discontent goes a long way toward proving just how much dope really is for dummies.

Raise your hand in a show of little self-estem, and complete self-recognition with some typically jackass/inane/obscene reply.  Come on!  This is your chance to show your puny little circle of Internet friends what an idiot you really are!  LoL

From your link:

"IQ tests are updated periodically."

In other words, Intelligence Quotient tests are, in fact, changeable (and therefore unable to be relied upon as an accurate measurement of ANYTHING against ANYTHING ELSE).

Think of it as 'Common Core' (everything reduced to the Lowest Common Denominator). Intelligence 'Quotients' are, in fact, NOT measured (they simply test the retained knowledge of an individual, as opposed to the ACTUAL capacity to reason).

"America Haters", eh?

I hate FRAUD and CORRUPTION, academy man.

That is endemic within United States, and the rest of the West's, society.

From the article on Deutchbank...

One year later, the 42-year old has realized that if you remove fraud and crime from the equation, banks are just not that profitable. And his hope that this is not the case, caused both the board and the market to lose patience with him.

Nothing will please me more than to watch the entire structure collapse. I pray to God Almighty, unceasingly, and THANK HIM, that the collapse of FRAUD and CORRUPTION, is happening...IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

I REFUSE to worship your Government, or ANY World Government, as they are EVIL INSTITUTIONS. I REFUSE to bow to any self appointed leader.

And I will guarantee that, one way or another, you will get exactly what you so shall deserve. That is written as both a blessing and a curse. YOUR CHOICE.

BTW...I do not drink Alcohol. Drunkards have no part in the Kingdom of Heaven. And I most certainly do NOT use Drugs. The practice of Sorcery (pharmakopeia) is also a fruit of the flesh.

Sortition is no solution to oligarchy. Short-term limits only incentivize plunder of the office and complicate rooting out what actors are to blame. A system of constantly changing leadership would also necessitate a bureaucracy which essentially makes the "electorate" superflous. Bribery is already illegal. Whatever laws you would propose to further codify that won't change the game at all.

I'd rather not be subject to the legalized depredations, plunder, and oppression of the masses. Involuntary government is a disease masqurading as a cure for the ailments it both exacerbates and creates. Denis Diderot has a lovely statement on the matter.

“Men will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest.”

Subsitute the title of authority as you wish, the statement remains true.

George Orwell would be right at home with Obummer. Obama has a secret "kill list" and you don't want to get on it, as Spencer Stone recently found out. Unlike Albert Anastasia, the Lord High Executioner of the Mafia who used Murder Inc. (controlled by Louis "Lepke" Buchalter) to carry out contract killings, Obama has direct control of the killers he uses to carry out "hits." Including the Mossad agents who screwed up the assassination of Spencer Stone in Sacramento, who two months ago foiled Obama's false flag attack on the French train. After stabbing Stone, a getaway car suddenly appeared. Two of the contract killers got in the car, one raced to his car, outside of the range of the CCTV. Stone was stabbed in the heart, in the liver and in the left lung, normally enough to kill you. Stabbing a person in the liver is the sign of a professional killer. A professional killer who may now be a liability. Only the exemplary skills of UC Davis' thoracic surgeons saved Stone's life. The Sacramento police chief who said the attack was not terrorism is a liar who was coached by Obama's FBI. Facts about this attempted assassination will be getting the American version of a "D" notice and be barred from the news. The Commander in Chief ordering the murder of active duty soldier -- incredible. http://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article39411480.html

Yeah, the field of psychology has been completely co-opted by the feminist lobby, starting in the radical revolution of the 1960s. All a man has to do is pander to feminine ideals and sensitivities, and wha-lah, you've got a clean bill of mental health! Act and speak like a normal man during a psych-eval, and you're doomed to be found to have some personality disorder.

And God help you if you're going into a psych eval, as part of a custody battle, telling the doc you are/were a military pilot!

You are correct.

Since the Robber Barons Era, human nature and human psychology has worked very hard to identify every human frailty of our Representative Government and has worked even harder to overcome each of those frailties.

Look around you, almost everything in life has been usurped and changed since 1950. We are a mere shadow of what the US was like 60+ years ago.

The Irony of it all is that current generations do not know has been lost, have to desire to bring it back and even if they wanted to, do not have the will to do so.

How naive. Where there is power, there can and shall be money. You will never remove profit incentive from politics, because politics is about profit. Specifically politics is about about coercing others into doing what they would not do freely otherwise. The power cannot be controlled. The power will always be sought by those whom wish to benefit from it. As such, the power must be destroyed.

That's all true but there may be a way around that.  All people with human empathy will register a physiological response to visual images (video) of animals or people being abused/ humiliated.  Even people who have very low empathy will register a response; a psychopath however, will show no response or become too calm.  Psychopaths often have a strange response to things that panic, horrify or disgust most people.  When TSHTF they go into a type meditative state which is why they can make great surgeons, explosive ordinance and traders, they are not prone to panick and thier vitals will actually slow down... super spooky.

They are likely to pass a lie detector for similar reasons and lie detection may be a joke anyway.  If we initiated that test we would hardly have a politician standing.

surprisingly even the silly movie "Enemy of the State" (will smith and gene hackman) is not so silly anymore. As a movie that was exaggerating, hollywoodizing the NSA, it is now childs-play compared to what has been officially documented.
