VIX Tumbles To 2-Month Lows But Commodites Crumble After China "Good News"

Tyler Durden's picture

UPDATE: Here's what happened after IBM...

And VIX was the driver of the initial ramp...

*  *  *

After last night's China GDP (good news - it beat, bad news - worst in 6 years), today's uninspired and volumeless trading suggests the world's traders were like this today...

*  *  *

"You get to lose weight.. and you get to lose weight... you all get to lose weight..."

Shorts shafted after Oprah goblles up weightwatchers stock...Up 110% today (thanks to 57% Short Interest!)

And Hillary unleashed herself on Biotechs (and failed)...

Gold & Bonds remain the biggest winners since The Fed folded in September...

Stocks largely meandered around unchanged in a small range all day - until panic-buying after the NYMEX Close (230pmET) sent evverything to the highs of the day...

Cash indices were despertaley pushed into the green a number of times today...

VIX was clubbed back to pre-China Devaluation levels (and a 14 handle) because everythinmg must be awesome...

Treasury yields moved higher as usual through the US open, then rallied back to unchanged tioi 2bps lower on the day...

The Dollar surged against Asian/EM FX for the second day... as Fed fears over China growth are dissipated and thus USD strengthens (hhmm)

And gained against the majors with CAD and SEK weakness the biggest drivers...

Between USD strength and China weakness, commodities were not happy (especially crude and copper)...

With Crude crumbling back below $46 (in Nov futures)

how else could i predict with almost 100% accuracy the Fraud Markets rallying off the lows in the last hour of trading in London and, then trade sideways for most of the day, and then beginning a v shaped reversal of all losses with a grand finish at the highs of the day in the last 5 minutes?????? Nothing will stop the algos and the Fed until it's simply too late and the entire machine just rattles apart. My leading indicators are the American consumer and they are telling me (through my own business and by virtue of breathing and living) that disposable income is all but dried up.

My suppliers have everything in the warehouse on a constant sale. Even the bars seem empty these days. Business is slow and it's getting slower. It is going to be a long winter.

I do understand there's money to be made in these markets but a lot of people (aka the majority.....especially institutional "investors") are done for when the music stops.

The next week or two better see a collapse after all this buildup.  All indicators are shouting that the springs of irrationality are wound about as tight as they are going to go.  Are we not at peak (credible) manipulation?  If not, then why not.  And what's the point of analyzing economies, markets, and central bank manipulations if the resulting insights are useless for trading.

If the market is never going to respond to reality and instead always and forever just respond to Fed manipulations, then BTFD sums up the one and only strategy we need to know.  With the only need to revisit coming many years down the road just before the collapse of the dollar.  If that's the case, we're all wasting our time here.

We all question ourselves and our opinions because common sense doesn't control the end of the day results in these so called "markets" anymore. Things are not good. They haven't been "good" for a long time.

I think a lot of people have given up waiting for what is necessary to get back to re-building the American economy (a real correction) but we all presumed it would happen sooner than later.

It's not going to happen the way we think. We are going to witness unthinkable bailouts. We are going to see thinks unimaginable to keep it all rolling. They will try it all.

What's different this "rotation" is the entire world is watching. A lot of folks thought have big money invested in the USA. From corrupt dictators to the Santa Damingo family from Columbia. It all works for a while until they get shaken and get a midnight call about pulling out.

Here's the thing: We're not in this alone. The shit-scum of the world is in it with us. We have their money (if you want to call it money).

We do have one thing most of them don't: Lots of guns and ammo.

Sometimes I wonder about the company I keep. So, I asked myself, "What is more unsavory than a bunch of redneck, religious, racist, homophobic, anti-semitic, anti-government gun freaks?" Well, what is worse is a bunch of Fed/government toadying, soviet central planning, fascist, warmongering, hate-mongering, total surveillance, police state loving, politically correct, speech suppressing, gun controlling, financial fraud enabling, job exporting, celebrity fawning, America destroying, bourgeois neoliberal hypocrites.

Mon, 10/19/2015 - 19:06 | 6687209 inosent

Redneck - "The term redneck is chiefly used for a rural poor white person of the Southern United States"; maybe under-educated, but they don't get together to take over the world, or use their influence on govt to direct massive amounts of foreign aid to undeserving countries. In other words, harmless.

Religious - If we are not talking about the religious fanatics who kill for god, most of the religious ppl I know are quiet, humble ppl, who strive to do right every day. The commit no crimes, and work hard to support themselves and their families. I don't see a problem there.

Racist - Who is not a racist? Everybody is proud of who they are. Of course the La Raza crowd has bad motives behind their racism (re-populate the southwest and simply claim it as a territory of Mexico), as well as the jews (whose top echelon 'leaders' are engaged in a conspiracy to tear down nations and establish their one world government). You see, the term 'racist' is used to attack someone who is opposed to these twin evils.

Homophobic - What does that mean? To experience a natural and organic aversion to ppl whose primary way of defining themselves as having sex with a same sex person(s)? To reject that behavior as normal? To advise others to beware of the trap at the end of going down that road, and with good cause? I think we have too many Truthophobic ppl running around, if you ask me. It hurts nobody to tell them the truth. Lastly, did not Jesus say "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, 'for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?". You can say what you want about Jesus, so-called messiah or not, and we can talk about what he may have actually said or did not say, but he did not become famous for nothing :) No doubt this quote is reliable. If arguably the greatest man whoever lived said male and female, this would, by the modern definition, the one the speech police use to shame us all into submission, Jesus would be considered homophobic. Given the choice between an agitated and confused homosexual practitioner/activist, I'll stand on Jesus' side on this one.

Anti-semitic - This is a false term, because semitic refers to a geographical region, what we refer to (generally) as the middle east. It has been said often from many sources those who first floated this term as a cover to fight back when someone exposes their fraud - jews -, these jews modernly did not come from any semitic region, but somewhere far to the Northeast. If someone is anti-jew, that can mean someone who is highly educated, and thoroughly examined the historic record and can logically connect the dots to current events and deduce jews in power cause a lot of trouble. in short, they are very evil. Hence, to be 'anti-semitic' means to be anti-evil. I don't see anything wrong with being anti-evil.

Anti-government - The founding fathers were anti-government, or at least enough to have devoted all their time and energy to develop a framework for a very limited federal government, and recognizing the threat of a central governing power to get out of control, to build into their plan a constitutional guarantee to bear arms - which technically includes having an F-16 in your back yard, and maybe a nuclear bomb, because in the day the 2nd amendment was penned all the government had were guns and cannons, and a few ships, a generally even match against an 'armed' population. And, again, let me point out, the term is 'arms' not 'guns' in the constitution. In other words, we are seriously outmatched as it is. It is like the final insult to take away what little we have left in the event a global tyrant want to roll right over us. Watch a few videos of ppl in the Soviet Union (actual footage) as they are being marched off to die by the millions, and you might appreciate the value of being armed :) I don't see the problem there either.

-------

As for the rest,

Fed/government toadying

soviet central planning

fascist

warmongering

hate-mongering

total surveillance

police state loving

politically correct

speech suppressing

gun controlling

financial fraud enabling

job exporting

celebrity fawning

America destroying

bourgeois neoliberal hypocrites

No matter how you define them, none have an ounce of redemptive value, are toxic, and extremely dangerous by comparison.

I was raised in Virginia a long time ago, so I do not need the explanations. My favorite definition of a redneck is taken from the comedian who defined it as someone whose philosophy you can determine by reading his clothes.

I'm joking, of course. I'm trying to keep my sense of humor intact as the end of the financial world approaches.
