As you will see below, the elite are willing to pay big money for cutting edge home security measures, luxury bomb shelters and superyacht getaway submarines. Some of the things that the elite are demanding for their own protection go beyond even what we would see in a James Bond film, and serving the prepping needs of the elite has become a multi-billion dollar business. Meanwhile, the media outlets that the elite own continue to mock the rest of us for getting prepared. All the time we see headlines like this one that appeared in a major American news source: “Preppers: Meet the paranoid Americans awaiting the apocalypse“. Well, if we are paranoid for setting aside some extra food and supplies for the future, what does that make the people that you will read about in this article?
The elite live in a world that is completely different from the world that you and I live in. In wealthy enclaves of major global cities such as London, elitists are willing to shell out massive amounts of money to ensure that everyone else is kept out. The following comes from an article that was just published a few hours ago by the London Evening Standard entitled “The paranoid world of London’s super-rich: DNA-laced security mist and superyacht getaway submarines“…
Business is booming because billionaires are a paranoid bunch. Take one who recently moved to Mayfair. ‘He wanted everything, from protection from cyber hacking through to physical intrusion and kidnapping,’ says Bond Gunning. ‘We ended up installing fingerprint-activated locks for family members and programmable keys for staff that limit the time they are allowed into the property and the rooms they are able to enter and exit.
‘Inside and outside we installed 24-hour monitored CCTV cameras that are so hi-tech they can tell the difference between a dog, cat and a person. In the garden there are thermal-imaging cameras that can detect heat sources in the undergrowth. One thing intruders can’t hide is the heat of their bodies.
‘Should an intruder evade the cameras or ignore the warnings they automatically broadcast, the property itself is protected by bulletproof glass and alarm sensors in all rooms. There is a bullet, gas and bombproof panic or safe room, with its own food and water, medical supplies and communications, and an impregnable supply of fresh air. Just in case the family cannot make it there in time, key rooms are sealed by reinforced shutters.’
But for many elitists, those kinds of extreme security measures are simply not enough. That is why sales of “luxury doomsday shelters” are absolutely soaring. If “the end of the world” arrives unexpectedly, high net worth individuals want to know that there will be somewhere for them and their families to go. The following is an excerpt from an article about one such facility located in Indiana…
As we roll down US Highway 41 in Terre Haute, Indiana , my guide insists I give him my iPhone. Then he tosses me a satin blindfold. The terms of our trip were clear—I wasn’t to know where we were going or how we got there.That’s because we’re on our way to the undisclosed location of an underground bunker designed to survive the end of the world, whatever form that apocalypse takes.
When I remove my blindfold, I am standing in a grassy clearing looking at a boxy concrete structure that serves as the entrance to a Cold War–era government communications facility gutted and reborn as Vivos Indiana. This is the Ritz Carlton of doomsday shelters, a hideout where residents can wait out a nuclear winter or a zombie apocalypse in luxury and style while the rest of humanity melts and disintegrates. That sounds lovely.
But normal people like us cannot afford something like that. It will only be the elite that will be able to afford to hole up in underground bunkers while the world above descends into madness.
Other elitists will be taking off in their superyachts and heading out into the open ocean when things really start falling to pieces. And if their superyachts are threatened, some of them even have “getaway subs”. Here is more from the Evening Standard…

So exactly why are so many among the elite so concerned about their own security these days?
Why are so many of them going to such extraordinary lengths to prepare for worst case scenarios?
Do they know something that the rest of us do not?

Robert Johnson, president of the Institute of New Economic Thinking, told people at the World Economic Forum in Davos that many hedge fund managers were already planning their escapes.
He said: “I know hedge fund managers all over the world who are buying airstrips and farms in places like New Zealand because they think they need a getaway.”
The next time that someone criticizes you for prepping, just point out what the elite are doing.
Clearly, many of them are deeply concerned that something may be coming.

I've run across a few "prepper" shows and almost always end up thinking I'd rather be dead than living in a school bus buried in the boonies. This is definitely a much better way to go... luxurious even!

Heh, also the problem is with bunkers is that you practically have to either live in one, because you'll have about less then 20 to 15 minutes till the a first strike would hit, and since they won't be able to warn the public in a attack like that, most will die, the bunkers and seed vaults are made by the rich because they know when it will happen, thats why their so prepared, they'll be the first to be in the known for when the bombs drop, and the first to be safe because of foreknowledge.

A lot of these luxuries would be the least of concerns and stupidests of waste in a SHTF scenario. How long do they expect to be able to live in such a bubble of luxury and what do they expect to find when they emerge?
In reality, anyone with such luxuries would gladly trade them all for double the quantity of more modest stocks. And then what when those run out.... It's just running down the clock until emerging to a world where one must produce everything one consumes. And then what?
Infinitely better to allocate resources to basic supplies, basic tools, basic knowledge sets. Quantity freeze dried meat, veggies, and pharmaceuticals to last 30 years. A range of crucial industrial chemical compounds and mechanical components. A range of tools including specs for more, machining equipment, and raw metals stocks. Seeds and essential agricultural gear. How-to guides of endless sorts. Stuff one would need to cobble togther a sustainable living of decent quality.
Exactly, but without people you can trust and who are prepared to work as a team we're all fucked in the long term. As I see it survival depends on a group with a range skill sets. How-to guides are maybe great, but at the end > No man is an island.

Yes, bid the soldier, I perceive the weak link in the wealth protection being the mercenaries that they have to pay. The biggest bullies need alliances with other bullies, in order to mobilize their death control powers on demand. Presuming that circumstances deteriorate sufficiently so that the preparations become necessary, then being able to call for assistance will become problematic. Should the de facto situations deteriorate sufficiently, then the mercenaries are released from their previous constraints.
It is often the case that inside jobs are the worst threats, or that some sort of betrayal of one's own security staff may be the greatest threat, which is the most difficult to guard against. One of the oldest problems in politics was stated by Plato as "Who will guard the guardians?" The answer is Nobody. Indeed, in principle that is the only answer (with the only qualification being natural selection pressures beyond human control, operating overall upon the entire longer term future of the systems that the guardians were guarding.)
The world's nuclear armed militaries may well not want a nuclear war. No sane person would. However, the world is already deeply committed to paths of runaway criminal insanities, due to it having already been dominated by the best organized gangs of criminals for a long time, within which context the vast majority of people already adapted to that by becoming Zombie Sheeple. The essential problem is that the established systems, whereby governments ENFORCED FRAUDS by privately controlled banks, enabled "money" to be made out of nothing as debts in order to "pay" for strip-mining the planet's natural resources. Everything was built upon that basis of the biggest BOOM, which has already allowed its exponential growth to seriously overshoot, to the degree that there are no other reasonable expectations than that to end with the biggest BUST.
The established systems of MAD Money As Debt, backed by MAD Mutual Assured Destruction, became globalized electronic monkey money frauds, backed by the threat of force from apes with atomic bombs. Inside that context, it is difficult to imagine how the relentless pressures of the increasing MAD money systems would not eventually drive the MAD military system through series of psychotic breakdowns, due to the prodigious progress in physical science not being matched, much less surpassed, by progress in political science.
Globalized electronic frauds, backed by the force of atomic bombs, could destabilize, with consequences manifesting in ways which are many orders of magnitude greater than ever before in human history. The established sociopolitical systems were always based upon backing up lies with violence, that developed to become more and more sophisticated and integrated systems of legalized lies, backed by legalized violence, which are now running into real limits and diminishing returns from being able to continue to do that, and certainly can not continue to do that at an exponential rate, as was the case throughout previous human history, which history now appears to be a roller coaster ride jumping off its previous guide rails.
In my view, the underlying problems were the degree to which people were able to massively lie to themselves, since the sociopolitical systems became so totally based upon some people being able to lie to other people, which worked because those frauds were being enforced. The deeper problems were always that being able to enforce frauds never stops those frauds from still being false.
In every way, human beings and civilization has become criminally insane, since every sociopolitical institution is being run by the best available professional liars and immaculate hypocrites. For generation after generation, the ruling classes have developed their abilities to lie to themselves, at the same time as they developed their ability to lie to the people they ruled over. The results are that we almost totally live in Wonderland Matrix Bizarro Worlds, where pretty well everything that everybody thinks has become as absurdly backward as it could possibly become, since human activities are controlled through systems based upon ENFORCING FRAUDS.

The world's military, and mercenaries in general, should be more realistic. However, in my view, they appear to have actually become more psychotic, due to having also been selected to operate as professional hypocrites so much, for so long, that they apparently have lost track of relatively objective realities. Indeed, it is extremely difficult for monkeys and apes to actually comprehend themselves having electronic and atomic powers.

I get some flack from certain (government pension slurping) members of my own family. Simply for living on land that is half surrounded by water, have two german shepherds roaming, a gun in about every room, and a decent supply of food, fuel and water.
They can't park their cars on the street in front of their own houses because of theft. One pile of burning tires would keep them from food and their growing list of medications. People like this could use a healthy dose of "paranoia."
