Europe's Next Refugee Crisis: Thousands Of Migrants Freezing To Death
“It cannot be that in the Europe of 2015 people are left to fend for themselves, sleeping in fields.”
That’s a quote from European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and he’s referring to the EU’s effort to create makeshift “holding camps” along the Balkan route to Germany designed to house some 100,000 asylum seekers as they make their way north. Eastern Europe is struggling with the influx of refugees from the Mid-East and while Hungary has simply decided to close its borders, other states in the region are attempting to strike some sort of middle ground between relenting and allowing migrants to turn the countryside into a superhighway to Germany and implementing a Viktor Orban-style crackdown that lacks any semblance of humanity (say what you will about a country’s right to protect its borders and cultural heritage, but using tear gas and water cannons in conjunction with an attempt to ignite an ultra-nationalist, religious fervor amongst the populace is dangerous at best and outright irresponsible at worst).
While the effort is admirable - we suppose - it may nonetheless backfire. That is, while it’s certainly not ideal to have hundreds of thousands of people sleeping in the middle of fields and building campfires out of flammable garbage, these ad hoc way stations will almost invariably become overcrowded, unsafe refugee internment camps and they’ll likely be easy targets for vociferous anti-migrant protests or worse.
That said, there really are no viable alternatives which is frightening considering we’re now headed into winter. Put simply, the “Schengen” concept is rapidly falling apart and unless Europe figures something out soon (and by “soon” we mean in the next couple of weeks) migrants could start to freeze to death. Here’s The Telegraph:
Migrants crossing the Balkans will begin freezing to death as winter approaches, the head of European Union has said, as leaders warned the continent was "falling apart" trying to deal with the biggest refugee crisis since the Second World War.
Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, said a solution was urgently needed or thousands of refugee families facing winter temperature on the hillsides and freezing river-banks of Eastern Europe, would die.
"Every day counts," he said. "Otherwise we will soon see families in cold rivers in the Balkans perish miserably."
Miro Cerar, the Slovenian prime minister, said the EU was days from collapse as his country buckled under an “unbearable” influx of migrants.
"If we do not deliver some immediate and concrete actions on the ground in the next few days and weeks I believe the EU and Europe as a whole will start falling apart," he said.
Poorly dressed and under-fed, there are mounting fears they will fall victim to rougher seas and the Balkan winter that can reach minus 15C as they attempt to reach Germany and Sweden.
Aid agencies and human rights groups have also weighed in on the crisis. "As winter looms, the sight of thousands of refugees sleeping rough as they make their way through Europe represents a damning indictment of the EU’s failure to offer a coordinated response to the refugee crisis," said John Dalhuisen of Amnesty International.
If you thought the firestorm surrounding the images of drowned toddler Aylan Kurdi was bad, just wait until the pictures of frozen migrant children start to surface on social media.
In many ways, Europe is damned if they do, damned if they don't. If refugee families are left to freeze in the Balkans because a confederacy of supposedly advanced nations couldn't figure out how to cope with the influx of asylum seekers from the war-torn Mid-East, the history books will be replete with references and images to migrant families freezing to death trying to get to Germany. Then again, if the whole of the EU adopts an open door policy and something goes wrong - or even if nothing goes wrong and the people flows simply serve to change the character of European society forever - the bloc will likely be blamed for not taking a more measured approach.
Meanwhile, note the bolded passage from The Telegraph article excerpted above: "...the Balkan winter that can reach minus 15C as they attempt to reach Germany and Sweden." Well, if you though anti-migrant sentiment was on the rise in Germany (see the latest PEGIDA rally), just have a look at Sweden where as yet unidentified groups are literally torching refugee shelters. Sweden’s migration authorities on Wednesday moved to hide the locations of buildings earmarked for housing refugees, after attackers set more a dozen prospective refugee centres on fire in a matter of months.
Mikael Ribbenvik, chief operative officer at the Swedish Migration Agency, made the decision after the thirteenth centre, a home for unaccompanied refugee children in the city of Lund, was set alight on Monday.
“We have decided today that where asylum centres are located will from now on be classified information,” Johanna Uhr, a spokeswoman for the agency, told The Telegraph. “We will no longer be sending out any lists of locations.”
The populist Sweden Democrat party has been harshly criticised for last week publishing a map listing the addresses of all asylum centres in and around the city of Lund.
“I find it hard to see that this is anything other than an incitement to commit hate crimes,” Veronica Palm, a Social Democrat MP, told Expressen newspaper.
And so sadly, the choice appears to be between bullets, bombs, and sword-wielding jihadists in Syria and freezing to death in the Balkans or else being burned alive in Sweden - and that's assuming you don't die at sea in transit.
The reports from Sweden underscore our point that Europe's plan to establish makeshift "holding camps" is likely a bad idea. Anti-migrant sentiment is running high among Europeans predisposed to nationalistic ideals and while the facilities torched in Sweden were apparently empty, the migrant camps along the Balkan route won't be. That said, the alternative is to force asylum seekers to sleep out in the cold and risk going down in history as a union of advanced economies that couldn't even manage to cooperate enough to keep tens of thousands of people from freezing to death.
Of course the tragic irony is that whatever fate should befall the legions of refugees seeking asylum in Western Europe, it will all be blamed on brutal Mid-East dictators and while autocratic regimes should unquestionably be held to account for their role in creating disaffection among the citizenry, at some point the West needs to wake up and come to terms with the fact that playing Mid-East kingmaker everywhere and always has tragic consequences. Europe's refugee crisis is just the latest example.

Here is what has already happened:
Germany is essentially out of liveable heated "empty" structures to house people in. These are structures such as schools waiting renovation, churches with tiny congregations, empty soviet buildings in the East & large castles in the middle of nowwhere. There are still more than 40,000 people living in tents, with about 12,000 people showing up every day.
Here is what is going to happen next:
It has yet to freeze where I am at -- coldest we got to was 2° thus far. The farther South in Bavaria at higher elevations it dips below freezing every night. Starting late next month, it won't get above freezing until March. As soon as you have a little kid or two freeze to death this will happen:
1) Vacation houses for private family use, rentable vacation houses, and second houses will begin to be confiscated by the government. The government does have this power, it however has never been used. Last time this was done was when Germany was without a government in 45 & 46 and run by essentially the American military. Everyone who loses their income properties, vacation homes & castles in the middle of nowhere that have been around for generations will become far right supporters.
2) As people continue to pour in in freezing temperatures, the government will begin to confiscate larger homes, relocating the owners to smaller accomidations and placing large numbers of refugees in their single family home primary residences. The figure that has been floating around in German media is between 60-75 square meters per person. Thus a family lof 4 with a home of 400 square meters (4300 square feet) would be removed from their only home and sent to smaller accomidations so that they can pack 50 refugees in the house. In-law suites, remisen, all will be confiscated.
3) After this is done, the government will start confiscating houses on the market, apartments on the market, both for renting and for purchase.
4) Thereafter --- assuming there isn't civil/race war here, they'll go after office buildings unoccupied first, then occupied.

So from what you're saying it sounds like Germany is in for a revolution because immigrants always get targeted when times turn ugly (likely as soon as winter hits). Also it will likely crush the social systems because taxpayers will be forced to pay for all the utilities, clothing, food, additonal policing, etc since none of these immigrants will have jobs to pay for anything for quite some time. Let's face it, they're talking primarily about Assad in the above paragraph and the entire premise is actually bullshit. There was really no significant problem in Syria until around 2011 when Assad refused to grant rights to the UAE and Saudi Arabia to build a natural gas pipeline through his country. Almost immediately after that happened there were shouts from both the mid-east Monarchies (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar) and their western facilitators (i.e. the USA, UK, France, etc.) that "Assad must go". Shortly after that the low level civil conflict that had previously existed in Syria was stoked to white hot levels by those same entities screaming for Assad to go. The civil war as it exists now in Syria was almost entirely created by foreign powers. ISIS/ISIL came on the scene shortly after that (with financing and arms provided by those same mid-east Monarchies). Now with their homes and towns destroyed the people of Syria are heading north to escape the carnage. Who can blame them?

Considering that Germany is one of the richest countries in Europe, there will be many more in poorer coutries like Poland, Romania or Bulgaria. I was having some debate with some euro statist leftists and I made a point about the working classes and industrial production and how a country needs to produce stuff and we've outsourced it and sold it off and they thought I was a raving lunatic to think such things were important. Well, if some of you really are reading this web site and like to take a moral high ground when someone brings up the 'refugee issue' then take a moment and answer few simple questions:
1. How many Mohammads and their families have you taken in? And why you didn't?
2. How much money you gave/donated to various organizations that take care of asylum seekers, centers where migrants come... you know, those NGOs that guilt ridden idiots join to ease their conscience.
3. Are you willing to have a chunk of your state budget be distributed to a deadbeat islamists that sit at home and hate on your country all day, fucking their mobile tents (that they call wives), knowing that they can have 10 children cause the social welfare will cover that too.
Here, I'm assuming that you are working and paying taxes and that you are not charitable only with other people's money. If you too are a deadbeat welfare recipient that wanna feed the world then fuck you too!
4. Explain this phenomenon: whenever there is a sizable muslim population in any community there are 'anomalies' known as "no go zones for non-muslims". Or should I call them "zones where european women get raped if pass through them". And how would you solve these problems?

5. Give some examples of seamless integration of Muslims in western society. Or if talking in plural is too much - give one example of integration / assimilation. I mean an example where there is a sizable Muslim population in any western city. As you can se them now comming in hundreds of thousands and even millions on a yearly level.
So, there's that for a start, and I just touched upon this issue. There's asking for their 'religion' getting special treatment in workplace, asking for time to pray dozen times a day, demanding a special food menu, demandin sharia law and on and on....

First, just because the EU leadership holds some altruistic "open arms" policy DOES NOT mean the EU citizen does. THEY are the authority in Europe, NOT Junker or the EU government. The extraordinary circumstances should void any mandate the president of the whole, or of any member state, thinks they have in dealing with this problem.
The EU citizen needs to rise here, and CLEARLY STATE THEIR WISHES ON THE MATTER.
Second, a handful of asylum seekers is one thing; thousands, if not millions, are wholly another. NO NATION need feel obliged to throw open their country to accommodate such circumstances. While it is understandable that Syrian, and other, people would want to flee despotism at home, that despotism must be challenged, and defeated, by someone.
Who better than THOSE citizens?
Running away to overwhelm someone else's home is neither right, nor the way to rid YOUR home of evil. Let's be clear: while ISIS is a relative new issue, Assad is NOT. At some point sacrifices need to be made, by those who call these places home, to fight both threats to Syria's future...and that's NOT Europe's surrogate responsibility. Time and again we have heard stories about cowardly surrenders of so-called Iraqi and Syrian "fighters" to insurgents--even AFTER being trained and equipped by the EU AND the U.S.--because they were apparently to afraid to do so.
These migrants AREN'T afraid to take an easier way out by fleeing to other nations...risking their lives to do so...but they ARE too afraid to stand and fight evil in their OWN house?
If THEY won't take the lead to preserve, protect, and defend their homes, what right do they suppose they have to expect someone else to...while they invade someone else's home...demanding admittance and security?
Let's take a look of just one example of the opposite, from the pages of history, shall we?
At the outset of WWII, Britian asked for help from the U.S., and, eventually got it. Britian DID NOT expect the U.S. take their citizens in, protect them, accommodate them...while America did Britain's fighting against Hitler FOR them...did they?
Indeed, as the war raged in, Americans showed up and started fighting and dying to defeat Hitler.
Did Britian cease fighting and flee, because the Americans showed up to help?
Absolutely not.
