Ron Paul Rages "We Must Oppose Obama's Escalation In Syria & Iraq!"

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Ron Paul via The Ron Paul Institute for Peace & Prosperity,

Ealier this week, Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee to outline a new US military strategy for the Middle East. The Secretary admitted the failure of the US “train and equip” program for rebels in Syria, but instead of taking the appropriate lessons from that failure and get out of the “regime change” business, he announced the opposite. The US would not only escalate its “train and equip” program by removing the requirement that fighters be vetted for extremist ideology, but according to the Secretary the US military would for the first time become directly and overtly involved in combat in Syria and Iraq.

As Secretary Carter put it, the US would begin “supporting capable partners in opportunistic attacks against ISIL (ISIS), or conducting such missions directly, whether by strikes from the air or direct action on the ground.”

"Direct action on the ground” means US boots on the ground, even though President Obama supposedly ruled out that possibility when he launched air strikes against Iraq and Syria last year. Did anyone think he would keep his word?

President Obama claims his current authority to conduct war in Iraq and Syria comes from the 2001 authorization for the use of force against those who attacked the US on 9/11, or from the 2002 authorization for the use of force against Saddam Hussein. Neither of these claims makes any sense. The 2002 authorization said nothing about ISIS because at the time there was no ISIS, and likewise the 2001 authorization pertained to an al-Qaeda that did not exist in Iraq or Syria at the time.

Additionally, the president’s year-long bombing campaign against Syrian territory is a violation of that country’s sovereignty and is illegal according to international law.

Congress is not even consulted these days when the president decides to start another war or to send US ground troops into an air war that is not going as planned. There might be notice given after the fact, as in Secretary Carter’s testimony today, but the president has (correctly) concluded that Congress has allowed itself to become completely irrelevant when it comes to such grave matters as war and peace.

I cannot condemn in strong enough terms this ill-advised US military escalation in the Middle East. Whoever concluded that it is a good idea to send US troops into an area already being bombed by Russian military forces should really be relieved of duty.

The fact is, the neocons who run US foreign policy are so determined to pull off their regime change in Syria that they will risk the lives of untold US soldiers and even risk a major war in the region — or even beyond – to escalate a failed policy. Russian strikes against ISIS and al-Qaeda must be resisted, they claim, because they are seen as helping the Assad government remain in power, and the US administration is determined that “Assad must go.”

This is not our war. US interventionism has already done enough damage in Iraq and Syria, not to mention Libya. It is time to come home. It is time for the American people to rise up and demand that the Obama Administration bring our military home from this increasingly dangerous no-win confrontation. We must speak out now, before it is too late!

George Armstrong Custer must be giggling in his grave.

His arrogance and stupidity are alive and well and have been adopted as our Foreign Policy. He, at least, died with his soldiers. Today’s “geniuses” send others to die or get maimed for their delusions.

I wonder if our involvement in Iraq/Syria will end as shamefully as in Vietnam, with helicopters picking up people from the Embassy’s roof. Will we ever learn?

Worse.  I suspect that just like in Ancient Rome, legions of soldiers, outposts, etc. will just be cut off as the mothership implodes off in the horizon.

The alternative, which I have not ruled out at all is a MIC overthrow of DC.  Who would argue against arresting most of the DC on charges of treason, racketeering, etc.  And we all know the NSA has enough dirt to bury the town.  Just a matter of how the deep state really answers to.

I asked somebody who is generally in the know about what's going on why the US was bound and determined to get into Syria at this point, and he said that he was unaware of any legitimate reason or even an illegitimate reason at this point.  The region is so unstable that no pipeline is going through there even if we were to topple Assad, so that's not it, or if it is, we're talking some really dumb motherfuckers in charge of this shitfest.  His best guess was that somebody's ego was bruised by not getting their way.

el vaquero, israel is determined.  israel's main source of water is the golan. that there is oil is double bonus.  israel will keep the golan, no matter the cost to others.  if syria remains intact, syria will push for the return of the golan, it is syria's, israel has taken it illegally.  the water issue is paramount.  there was talk of a peace park solution.

edit: to the downvoters...go search it.  israel's water comes from the golan!!  that's why israel is populating it.  how can you dispute israel is grabbing water from the golan?  links please

Replace "Obama" with the "Military Industrial Complex" and the article will be more accurate.  Obama is the puppet (and willingly so).  For the truth, see who is pulling his strings.  The US is in a perpetual state of war that spans far beyond one president.  See Eisenhowers warning:

But how does one use that Zionist strategy to one's benefit when engaging against Zionists?

The Lebanese Civil War provides some clues.  What drove Ariel Sharon to cooperate with Hafez Assad at times?  Syria was at that time, as now, a critical part of the pipeline from Hezbollah back to Terhan.  Someone (in some dark basement somewhere) needs to lay the groundwork for a worse alternative (for Israel) should the Assad regime fall

From chaos, order.   I think the NWO plan at this point is to total wreck the whole region and come in later and take over all the resources,  Probably throw all the countries into some sort of Middle East Union too.  Sure hundreds of millions will suffer and or die, but hey if you're working for Satan like the NWO is, that's probably viewed as an accomplishment.

Pure Evil's picture

If Satan was running this operation it would have been all wrapped up by know.

Truth is we're already run by the corporation called the NWO.

They have regional offices in D.C., London, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Moscow, and Beijing along with sub-regional offices all over the world.

They just keep allowing us to believe our quaint little delusions about Constitutional Republics, national sovereignty, liberty and all that other crap.

They keep claiming they're working on bringing about a New World Order allowing us the delusion that we still have a chance to stop their total dominion over the world.

They claim they want world peace, prosperity, education, and all the other socialist drivel, but their actions prove otherwise.

Instead we have endless war, economic strife, poverty, poor medical care, poor educational outcomes, and very little prosperity.

If you spend five minutes thinking about it you'll realize the New World Order is the current state of affairs and not some utopia where all the peoples of the world live peaceful prosperous lives.

Thu, 10/29/2015 - 16:27 | 6727582 SMG
SMG's picture

I agree they're all running things right now, but they have to get people to accept the technocratic world governement when they publically roll it out in the next 10 years or so.   The way they will do that is first cause regional instability, and then WWIII.  Throw the world into chaos, then people will willingly embrace anything that will save them from it.

Easy to like them.  Especially as ZHers.  But, they are trapped in the system and are playing the game to the limit they can to avoid being thrown from the bus.  Is this smart? Or is something else?  Who knows.  But time is running out for someone to grow a pair.  Until then, they are all just politicians to me.

The U.S. government can't contain Russia by force, or diplomatically, so their only other alternative is to use troops as human shields hoping that the Russians don't want to create an incident by bombing/shooting them. By doing this, they think the Russians won't attack certain assets and factions that U.S. troops are imbedded with.

Then, when such incident does occur, the U.S. will use it as a false flag, and go FULL RETARD.

Ashton Carter's bloviating merits special attention, imo, and as well described by the RPI:

http://www.ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/peace-and-prosperity/2015/octob...

I believe Obama is a puppet, even more so than Shrub, and that he was groomed from an early age to be the Hope-a-Dope.

One might note that as to Wall Street, the MIC, and Israel - Obama or Bush, superficially totally different, were basically the same.

The "Obama hates Israel" stuff comes from the far, Likudnik/Shas right of Zionism and is not to be taken seriously.

But all that aside - contrast Carter's statements with Obama's earlier lies:

http://libertyunyielding.com/2015/10/29/pentagon-spokesman-puts-lie-to-o...

How "independent" is the Deep State and CIA operations from the White House?

That is - is it not only possible that US troops, or US proxies could attack or be attacked by Russia or Russian proxies ... but possible, even likely, that US forces/proxies and/or Xe types could attack or be attacked by other Americans/proxies and/or Xe types?

This thing is chaotic no matter how you slice it - but one of the things we all seem to tacitly assume is that .gov acts as an entity, and Obama, puppet or not, directs things.

I think this unlikely. I think the Zionist {neocon} element, long a part of .gov, has had time, money, and motivation to form their own shadow deep state.

Further, I think the "laptop of death" came from them evey bit as much as a lot of the horseshit used to justify the Iraq War came from the Zionist Lie Factory in the OSP.

That element, also active in Ukraine, could give a fuck about American interests.

If there isn't a civil war within the government of these united states now - perhaps there needs to be.

and soon.

I tend to agree.  It is far more chaotic than controlled.  .gov is on the verge of tearing itself apart.

If there is any justice left in the good soul of America, that entity (man or woman) should demand a gallows with a hanging rope be built next to the Washington Monument.

A sign at the base of the gallows reads, "Reserved for the traitors to the American people".

"Whoever concluded that it is a good idea to send US troops into an area already being bombed by Russian military forces should really be relieved of duty."

Umm maybe, unless the big picture goal is to embroil us in WW3 and then it is an act of sheer genius. So now RP has told his first official big lie as Speaker. Patiently awaiting his upcoming excuses as to why it turns out to be of vital importance to national security that we put boots on the ground in Iraq/Syria...ultimately Iran.

Ron Paul is not the new Speaker of the House of Representatives. That person is Paul Ryan who by the way, is now second in line to the Presidency of the United States.

He's just dyslexic and the Speaker of the House is 3rd in line with the Vice President second in line.

But, they're all NWO toadies so as Hillary quipped, what does it matter at this point.

You sir, are clearly confused about the line of succession.

"Succession" means to replace or to come next.

The Office of the President is not in the line of succession since it is the highest office and follows no one. The Vice President is first in line followed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, second in line.

Refer to the Presidential Succession Act (see: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/3/19#.VjKBliv__ao ) .

Why is it exactly that it is in the interest of the uSa to go to all the trouble to relieve Assad of duty? Is it because they don't like his hairstyle? What exactly are Assad's bogeyman creds?
