if you ask the brainiacs in charge, they would just say that the Fed balance sheet would consist of corp securities and the like. That was the plan when they fraudulently claimed we had a Clinton budget surplus and an all-too-soon non-extant national debt.
Guess they decided that it was too tricky for their models and went balls to the wall the other way.
But back in the Clinton farce it was illegal for them to buy securities that were not explicitly guaranteed by the federal government.
It wasn't until the FED needed to bail out Fannie and Freddie that they broke that rule.

Why does national debt never go down?
This concept may seem radical...but....I think (and I could be wrong here..), I think the government spends more money than it takes in.. Now I'm not sure on this one. I may have to check my math a few more times and give it to my 12 year old nephew..he will surely be able to confirm.
The debt can never go down. In a debt money system, shrinking the debt shrinks the money supply. That would cause a depression. All kidding aside, in 8 years the debt will be $40T. Or else we will have the great reset.
