Bill Ackman Defends Valeant, Herbalife Trolls Pershing Square - Live Webcast
Today at 9:00 am, Pershing Square's Bill Ackman will be the latest to hold a call defending not only Valeant, but his massive 22 million share stake in the company.
He will have a lot to talk about, especially in the aftermath of overnight's whirlwind of negative news surrounding Valeant, which prompted the company to unexpectedly sever ties with the specialty pharmacy at the center of it all, Philidor.
Here is how the WSJ, which will live blog the event, describes it:
The pharmaceutical company has been in the center of a host of questions about its business practices, its accounting practices and its relationship with mail-order pharmacy Philidor Rx Services, LLC.
On Friday, Valeant said it is severing all ties with Philidor, which will shut down operations as soon as possible.
Valeant’s decision came on the heels of news Thursday that the three largest pharmacy-benefit managers in the U.S. said they are ceasing work with Philidor. Separately, two board members of a large Valeant investor, Sequoia Fund Inc., resigned.
Mr. Ackma has told investors over the past week he believes that Valeant is vastly undervalued and that some of the criticism of its dealings is unwarranted, people familiar with the matter have told the Wall Street Journal.
Last year, Mr. Ackman teamed up with Valeant in its attempts to buy Allergan, which was ultimately unsuccessful. During that pursuit, Mr. Ackman joined Valeant Chief Executive Michael Pearson on severals calls to persuade Allergan shareholders to accept Valeant’s offer.
Needless to say, for Ackman who has generated over $2 billion in paper losses in VRX since its recent peak, this may be a matter of professional life and death. And just to tip the scales to the latter, Ackman's nemesis Herbalife, issued the following press release moments ago:
“I hope Bill Ackman has done more research on Valeant than he did on Herbalife, Target, Borders and JC Penny,” said Alan Hoffman, executive vice president, global corporate affairs, Herbalife.
Those who wish to follow the call, can do so here or telephonically:

Medicine Show
Covered wagon medicine show
Take you to the place where the healing flows
Weak in spirit we got the juice
won't save your soul it'll shine your shoes
Treated king to kangaroo
Santa Fe to Timbuktu
Don't be fooled by imitation
This is the stuff that cured a nation
We took the tube and the high plains too
Never stopped long just passing through
A drop of the laughter of the maids of France
Makes a hopeless cripple dance
It was really vile weather
When we got to tarred and feathered
You could hear the six guns sound
As they chased us out of town
In India we're all the rave
Discovered that its great as aftershave
Dropped in the sea just off Japan
Swapped 20 bottles for an aqua-walkman
Immunity from ridicule
Improves your brains if you're a fool
And I read in the Middle East
They traded some for a hostage release
Now if you're bald it'll give you hair
If you got straight trousers it'll give you flares
Feeling up you'll get depressed
Out of style here's a brand new dress
It was really vile weather
When we got to tarred and feathered
You could hear the six guns sound
As they chased us out of town
The stuff we sell is just the best
Passing all consumer test
Days of heaven nights of sin
Voodoo stick and sharks fin
When all around you seems like hell
Just one sip will make you well
Multipurpose in a jar
If you ain't ill it'll fix your car
In days of yore for all bad feelings
Washing socks and stripping ceilings
Nowadays its used medicinally
For all known human malady
It was really vile weather
When we got to tarred and feathered
You could hear the six guns sound
As they chased us out of town
Guaranteed don't you know

Ackman was and is spot on regarding the herbalife fraud. It's just that the MLM lobby is way too powerful and has virtually captured the FDA. And the SEC - oh well....
a cartel money laundering operation is not to be fucked with !
side note, valeant is p/e of 60, perhaps.....

We live in a Matrix! If you haven't heard whispers, you have now. And if you have heard whispers, then the mere fact I am posting about it, is proof! All we have to do to dismantle the Matrix, is think about dismantling the Matrix. That's all. Numbers count and the more thinkers on board, the sooner we bannish the Dark controllers. Fait accompli. It is the Will of God.
2 Funny.
That's pretty damn funny. It would make my day to see Ackman's fund implode.
