Tyler, didn't realize you were a global warming denier.  Think it's all a hoax?  Hit me up and let me tell you about this thing humans discovered called Science.

Or is it just this idiot cartoonist?  It was a long way to go for an unfunny punch line.  I'm disappointed at the lack of editorial scrutany of the cartoons that get posted here.  The articles are great, but you pick such bad comics :/

That is an lol troll.  Almost MDB-esque.

But anyway, I came here to poop this: not that I don't think the Saudi's are pieces of shit, but why the double standard with regards to keeping the culture pure?  Europeans want immigrants to assimilate to European customs and mores.  Why is Saudi Arabia criticized for wanting to keep their culture rooted in their insane Wahhabist cult?

Just asking...

No Christian migrants in the Middle East?  Huh?  So what was all that shock and awe about?  Lotta Christian migrants went to Iraq and Afghanistan eh?  Admittedly only a few Christian Migrants in Syria now (about 50 Special Migrants we hear).

A Shitload of Christian Migrants in Dubai, Qatar, et. al. yeah?

And don't forget, Christian's tried to migrate to Saudi Arabia but someone blew up the barracks.  Same when they tried to migrate to Lebannon back in say '83 or so.

Yeah, but I see your point.  The Middle East folks are a bit inhospitable.

Anyway the sand in the hourglass has almost reached empty for all of this, so let's entertain ourselves with cartoons and whining if it helps us get through the day.

Regardless of deniers, religion, and science, I am curious if any one of the adamant NO global warming individuals have worked in weather?

As a person who has worked the Bering Sea, Gulf of Maine, and other exterior weather exposure extremes with daily records and fully cognitive brain... I sure as fuuk see warming and sea shore damage reducing islands and friends; "traditional" 20th century catches not returning due to deep water warmth. Never mind first person, photos, and daily records.

Of course there is NO warming. I do not give a damn what media point is being purveyed by antiwarmers or prowarmers. Where I have been and where I am, still on the face of the weather, the OCEANS, there is a massive difference since 1990. In my records, memory, and visual comparison.

Toss in gardening records I keep from the beginning, insects are not declaring any difficulty with the temperature, nor are the mini mammals or massive increase in owl population locally. Surely these records and memory are not valid, I am not a programmed human. Therefore I know nothing.

If the govts are utilizing a potential problem for their gain who is wrong. People who resist probability with deniability, due to chagrinned triggered minds are only at war within themselves.

Exactly the target of design, divide and conquer.

Who gives a damn what the results of MASSIVE global pollution and ecosystem destruction are. Clean the shit up now, or pass it on like Boomers to the next 10 generations, thanks you blame projectors.

By all means, personally taste every Fukushima shrimp and see if the flavor is better with the CS-137.  For fuck sake, if you want to throw a fit about man's needless pollution of the environment, do it in a place that is critical and obvious.  Talking about man's carbon release leading to warming is like eating someone else's creampie . . . it might be tasty, but it's an extraneous action that followed something important.

You seem to be confusing three seperate issues:

1: Is the earth warming

2:Is the warming due to man related carbon emissions

3: Is there other visible man made polution

Your personal observations seem to indicate the sea is warming.  How do you relate this through personal experience to man made carbon emissions?  Sun cycles and natural volcanic emissions have long been correlated with climate and weather changes.  Climate has been changing for millions of years long before the recent 200 years of industrialization.

I don't think anyone argues with you on general chemical, radiation, waste, and drug pollution due to man.  But this is seperate from any general changes in climate.  Sure it makes sense to clean up obvious pollution.  But the government has not been effective in most cases (checkout Tar River and Animas River).  What evidence do you have that indicates government is the solution?

There is far too much money and power in play in global warming due to man made carbon emissions as currently defined by the interested parties.  I have read extensive scientific articles on both sides - and studies that most of the conclusions are not reproducable.  There are no more disinterested authorities any more.

The economic stakes are too high to make civilization changing laws on the current information.  The real issue is the poor expectation value of the very expensive and curturally disruptive solutions being proposed - and the extraordinary profits that would accrue to some of the proponents.  Will the US submit to national industrial changes and penalty payments forced by the proposed UN court as brought by other countries?

I don't think you have thought this through.  Give a blank check to someone to do something with no performance metrics nor rewards/penalties?

It's sad that we won't give you all our money?  Maybe for you.

I initially believed Al Gore.  I even voted for the fucker.  Then I started doing some heavy reading.  The more I read, the less I believed anybody who tried to induce panic.

Yes, warming seems to be happening.  Yes, there is pollution that needs to be cleaned up, particularly in China.  ALSO...yes, climate change is a steady, cyclical process.  Yes, the most extreme warmings and coolings happened in the past and will happen again.

The only question is, are the things that humans are doing impacting those changes more than, say, volcanic activity or the sun's cycles?  I have seen zero evidence that makes me conclude that humans have had more than a very minor overall effect on general climate conditions.

When your heavy hitters (Mann, et al) feel the need to "hide the decline" and openly discuss how they want to manage public perceptions, I'm sorry but that just ain't science.  At least not as I've ever known it.

I'm going back to sleep now.  I'll believe it's a crisis when people who are demanding that we treat it as a crisis start to act like it's a crisis.  Wake me when Al Gore's personal carbon footprint falls below that of Estonia.

VinceFostersGhost says Putin is an AGW denier:

"Ladies and gentlemen, one more issue that shall affect the future of the entire humankind is climate change. It is in our interest to ensure that the coming UN Climate Change Conference that will take place in Paris in December this year should deliver some feasible results. As part of our national contribution, we plan to limit greenhouse gas emissions to 70–75 percent of the 1990 levels by the year 2030.

However, I suggest that we take a broader look at the issue. Admittedly, we may be able to defuse it for a while by introducing emission quotas and using other tactical measures, but we certainly will not solve it for good that way. What we need is an essentially different approach, one that would involve introducing new, groundbreaking, nature-like technologies that would not damage the environment, but rather work in harmony with it, enabling us to restore the balance between the biosphere and technology upset by human activities.

It is indeed a challenge of global proportions. And I am confident that humanity does have the necessary intellectual capacity to respond to it. We need to join our efforts, primarily engaging countries that possess strong research and development capabilities, and have made significant advances in fundamental research. We propose convening a special forum under the auspices of the UN to comprehensively address issues related to the depletion of natural resources, habitat destruction, and climate change. Russia is willing to co-sponsor such a forum."

I think you, and others, are missing the point, it isn't wether the climate is changing or not, it is, it has always 'changed' the point is; can you give money to 'someone'and they can stop it changing, perhaps they can if you believe they can, the power of belief is very important and very potent in American life, I know a man who will sell you the winning numbers for the Lottery and he guarantees they are winners, if you believe they are, he can point you in the rught direction but it is up to you to believe them into reality, if you don't win it is your fault so there are no refunds!

If the climate is changing it is best to adapt ourselves to the new reality rather than give your money to a con man and expect him to modify the weather.

Point taken Meanbusiness, still, do you think (believe) we can spend money and slow down the rate of change, can the rate of change be quantified, is change happening exponentially?

There are two primary drivers of the behavior of the elite class, the desire for 'Importance" and the desire for "More Wealth" People can only be important in their own minds and the minds of others, there is no importance outside human thought, money is a potent prop on a rich persons stage, possibly the most important, as it elicites the desired adulation from a large segment of the audience.

To me, we as a species are doomed by the limitations of our understanding of the World and our place in it, we have all seen those pictures from the shuttle where, at night, the World looks like it is on fire, instinct gone awry, is driving us to destroy everything in a vain attempt to keep those lights burning even if just for a little longer!

Jesus have mercy. Is that what is taught in schools nowadays? Where have all the engineers and scientists gone?

In contrast, humans are currently emitting around 29 billion tonnes of CO2 per year (EIA). Human CO2 emissions are over 100 times greater than volcanic CO2 emissions. This is apparent when comparing atmospheric CO2 levels to volcanic activity since 1960. Even strong volcanic eruptions such as Pinatubo, El Chicon and Agung had little discernable impact on CO2 levels. In fact, the rate of change of CO2 levels actually drops slightly after a volcanic eruption, possibly due to the cooling effect of aerosols.

The 'petition project' link Automatic Choke supplied leads to a petition where there is a link to "Summary of peer-reviewed research". There is a link / document on that page http://www.petitionproject.org/gw_article/GWReview_OISM150.pdf

called "Environmental Effects of Increased Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide" by Arthur B. Robinson, Noah E. Robinson, and Willie Soon.

------------------

Thanks for the link to the cut-off dates. It's no surprise that WG1 needed to have submissions by July 31 2012 because they publish earlier (Sep 2014). WG2 and WG3 had until 31JAN13 which gave them ~14 months to complete and publish, Why the IPCC process employs cut-off dates at all is a good question but there must be some kind of rationale.

Since there are no submissions for WG4, and that some up to date info being excluded in ARs is a known issue ( for example Typhoon Haiyan that Michel Jarraud refered to in the WG2 press release), as I stated above, this is likely a consideration in drafting the synthesis report.

You don’t have to buy the ’global-warming’-meme to see (pretty obvious) that we as a spices are experimenting with the capacity of the ecosystem of which we’re a part. I don’t care if it leads to global warming or not but the amount of destruction is unfathomable – the oceans/coral reefs/plastic islands, mass-instinction of flora and fauna, cutting down of forests, expansion of desserts etc. etc.

But then again, I’m with Carlin: we’re only put here temporarily to produce plastic – plastic will be the power-supply of the next spices with a brain.

A majority of the ZH-crowd see themselves as ‘informed’, ‘awakened’, ‘took the red pill’ etc. etc. – in reality they are controlled opposition. In the pockets of the Koch-brothers or similar. Don’t look at the down-arrows – truth is not a democratic issue.

Many spices are packaged in plastic.  It's kinda scary thinking that those dried parsley flakes may actually be sentient though.  Just downright terrifying at times!

The planet is becoming an industrial consumer wasteland.

No worries, the next generations will clean while being poisoned, pay for it within and around, be taxed, charged, restricted, and deep throated more future "plans" for cleaning changes, but, but, but, but, but, not now. The majority in power of govt top down, consumer, home ownership, etc has NO interest in accountability. Look to what you have bred because bread you will not be leaving behind, only an pan.

First we were headed for the next ice age, then it was global warming. When that didn't sell, the changed it to climate change. That was an easier sell because of course there is climate change. There has always been climate change. The dinosaurs disappeared during the ice age.

The point of contention is not climate change itself, but the ACTUAL cause of climate change. Al Gore and his ilk would like you to believe that it is all man made so they have an excuse to tax you even more in order to waste more money trying to control your life and fill their own wallets in the process. The data of which there is only 150 years worth (a small blip in the history of the earth) is anything but conclusive. Until concretely proven otherwise, I believe that climate change is a stellar event and we just need to adapt. In the meantime, it is logical to seek safe renewable sources of energy and lessen our dependence on fossil fuels. One day the earth will run out of gas and oil although no one knows when. The fact is we live on a finite planet with finite resources. To ignore that fact is perilous but it has nothing to do with climate change, just common sense.

It's no longer tenable. Ignorance can no longer be used as an excuse for no action and this is a fundamental difference compared to 2009. Why? Because in 50 years from now, actually in 30 years from now, governments, but not only governments, decisions makers at all levels can be held accountable for the decisions which are not taken now. Because knowledge is there. WE KNOW. We have no excuse for no action. Thank You."

Thank you for the reading.

We can but are bugetary imbeciles.

You know that I do not believe everything that the USSA reports...or even Russia for that matter.

Most..er...ALL...of the computing was not done in the crew compartment of the LM or CM. The computer was obviously rudimentary, primitive, and the settings were on firing of engines and setting course.

The onboard computer was more of a timing decice than a computer.

All computations were run at the computer at Houston, Texas, NASA Mission Control which was the state of the art at the time.

It took up two entire floors of a very large building. The inputs to the onbard computer were radioed to the LM/CM and fed into the onboard computer with a punch button keypad.

No I do not believe everything that the USSA tells me..

But I do believe that NASA pulled off Kennedy's trick...at a very great expense.

As for your last question it was addressed below in another response to another commenter...in detail...but ties in.

NASA is bloated and inefficient due to bureaucracy and boondoggles.

While we are at this bullshit game of "Nationalistic Pride"...

Why can't Russia land and operate an unmanned probe on Mars?

Dear Mr.Tom:

Main reason Boris is suspicious of Lunar Hoax is not from false Lunar Hoax propoganda, but simple Bureaucratic mistake of NASA Goddard. For example, in 19 hour surface mission of Apollo 11, there is record of over 1,800 35mm and 120mm (Hassleblad) slide and negative. Even with special Hassleblad film back, Boris is safe assume that in and out of module, re-pressurize, remove glove, reload flim cartridge, decompress, and exit module is not option. Thus weight of film cartridge alone is more than single weight of astronaught for 1,800 frame worth of film. This is inexplicable. Frame rate, not include motion camera shot, is 100 exposure EVERY hour on surface. That is more than one every minute. Amazing studio quality photography is come from awkward ratiation proof environmental suit while wearing, no!?

Worst case, entire mission is massive hoax and only technology from Lunar program is benefit George Lucas from Blue Screen and Sound Stage advancement. Best case, American public is demand some proof of lunar landing and after botch photographic expedition, crew is return to sound stage for better shot and stupid errand boy is record all of bracket exposure in photo lab docket, so now Goddard is stuck with record of 1,800 exposure frame from surface mission.

This is Boris' main thesis until 2009 when Telemetry tape is cannot find. Boris give up! Want to believe in endeavor of humanity to go beyond earth, but apply razor of occam is just no longer can believe.

Russia is still use 1960 rocket technology because, "it is not rocket science"! (but of course it is, but just not so hard once you are figure out rocket gyro and stabilizer and right mixutre of fuel) Mars Rover...? Russia can do but is not so interesting when war in Chechnya, Syria, and Chrimea to fight after lose war in Afghanistan.

Here's the thing about science. There are plenty of scientists who are blinded by ideology, both left and right. Usually, chemical and ag fields attract more "conservatives" because those industries tend to have more of that type, wheras fields that deal more with people tend to be more left-leaning. There are exceptions on either side of course, but control freaks of all stripes can get their kicks in academia.

Since I was in Iowa, I saw more than a few people working hard on creating more potent GMOs in various senses, because they really do think they are helping you. Or people doing research on the next generation of SSRIs who really do think they will improve the national mental health. I think there is a cult-like belief that all scientists are hyper-logical. They are not, they are simply very good at their technical field.

There were also more "alt" people than you would expect, and these types tend to have internalized the joke about the Russians using a pencil. They, in turn, are looking for their own "pencil" in energy research, disease research, etc., but the problem is they get no funding directly for it. The federal agencies want the super-pen, not the pencil.

Anything that can be developed will be developed...where the cost is not considered when given the blank check.

The boondoggle of Mike Griffen's Project Constellation stands as testimony to that sad fact.

The fool was developing Lunar Habitats and Lunar Rovers and did not even bother developing the Ares V, the rocket to get it there in the first place.. He put the proverbial cart before the horse.

He dismantled the infrastructure at Michoud and started the retooling for a larger diameter Rocket. He destroyed the Pad Infrastructure at Pad 39 A & B.

As a result NASA is without a Human Spaceflight Capability and is reliant upon the graces...YES GRACES after all the bullshit that we have been up to...the GRACES of the Russians to put Astronauts in orbit.

Mike Griffen absolutely ignored the directive to use EXISTING TECHNOLOGY which he could have done by adopting the concepts of Project Direct.

But we do have a pen that writes in Zero G while the Russians are dependent on those damned pencils.

Grants are what most scientist (and their academic institutions) want to discover.

Not to be picky, but wouldn't medical doctors fall in to the scientist category? Dr.s Paul and Carson would be 2 republican ones.

Perhaps you meant 'a republican junk science advocate shilling for more federal intrusion/FUNDING'?

According to Yale, the further to the political right, the more knowledge one is in science.

Funny thing is, the professor was try to prove the opposite.

"According to Yale, the further to the political right, the more knowledge (sic) one is in science."

I didn't bother to read the study, but I know one thing for sure:

Once you've studied the laws of thermodynamics, the scales drop from your eyes, and (to mix metaphors) the scale of government abuse is suddenly evident.

I doubt these scientists are farther to the political right in the sense that they are neocon hawks; I would expect them to be more libertarian than anything else.
