At the moment.  The takeaway though is that everyone on the USD Reserve train headed for the bridge half out called "debt default" will either jump off beforehand and introduce something else or face the same fate.  And it's no coincidence that China and Russia are securing energy and finance deals with other strategic nations.

The US is well behind the 8-ball on this one.

And when we lose reserve status, everything implodes and we try to start a war everyone's going to claim it was a total surprise and no one saw it coming.

I just pray when this goes down it just takes out the laughable "leadership" and not the entire country.

The same people doing the long-term financial planning for the US were also in charge of our strategy in Syria. Think on that for a while.

Oh, I think there'll be plenty of pain to go around. We'll all get our share. The lucky ones will be at ground zero when the nuclear bombs drop. Even the ones who die in the fire storms will be more fortunate then the ones left to wonder if the radiation poisoning will get them before they die of starvation.

It will all work out well for the exceptional muricans, they wil just use their military to over throw/invade some more countries and take their food and resources and say it was installing democracy

The alternative is Barry's black half starts talking about the Crack is Whack economy, until then we're stuck with his gay half cracker ass rambling incoherently about the crystal meth economy.

From the Fed to Congress, they don't even pretend at attempting to be responsible anymore.  Basically, they have thrown in the towel and have decided to go down with runaway spending, debt creation and money printing until the free money train blows up.

Read this real slow again and again until you can grasp it's full impact.

THEY DON'T HAVE A CHOICE

The currency system certainly doesn't require constant debasement.  That is what is going to kill it off in its current form.  That is the lie the central banks have been perpetuating - that without their constant intervention and oversight, the free market system and currency system would fail.  In reality, it was their constant intervention and oversight that caused multiple asset bubbles over the past 20 years and encouraged ever more debt by pushing short rates below the inflation rate for the large majority of the last 20 years.  In reality, by not letting the market system work and self-correct along the way, there is now so much debt now that it can't be paid back and that risks the banking system, which is all they care about.  They think if they can just inflate the debt away and move it to the taxpayer they can save things, but wages in a world of robotics and global competition aren't cooperating.  There isn't enough cash flow to repay the debt, so they decided to extend and pretend, leaving the hard part for the next guy/gal in charge.  Bernanke runs around telling everyone what a hero he was for running up the nation's credit card and buying everyone a free lunch.  That was the easy part and far from heroic.

The choice was not to subsidize and encourage more debt at every turn, from interest deductions on mortgages to corporate debt and so on.  What their actions are speaking louder than words and are saying is that we are at peak debt and there is no easy or politically possible way out, so they are doubling down and encouraging even more living beyond one's means.  ie, the solution to being drunk is to avoid the hangover by getting more drunk.

We're from the the government and we are here to help.

Keep the car, I'll take the cash equivalent and invest in my own land.

They really do not want that. They'll end up giving the cash to EBT holders who will spend it in under an hour on disposable goods.

I'd spring for the pepper grinder in a basic food compliments cage fight.  But why choose?  It don't get cheaper than black pepper, even the good shit, and fresh ground is a revelation everywhere you use it.  Pasta and olive oil.  Quina and mushrooms.  Squash and butter.  Taters and sour creme. Rice and chicken.

And any damn thing with gravy.  Oh yeah, definitely works with gravy.

Add to that 10,000 seniors retiring every day, at least half have no money to live on and will be dependent on tax payers until their deaths for everything from food to medical care.   Add to the problem at least 50% -80% of high school graduates (dont even add drop outs) really have no education and no economic future and will be unable to support themselves even if they are lucky to get an obama part time low pay job.  Add to that the typical obamacare tax reciepent is fat and doesnt understand lifestyle choices goes hand in hand with health and will require millions of dollars of tax payer paid medical care before they die.  Add to that we are being overun by illegal invaders.  And finaly our elected officials have been bought and paid for and will do nothing to save our nation (both parties)...
