FaceBook Hits All Time High After Beating Across The Board; Over 1BN Daily Users: The Quarter In Charts

Tyler Durden's picture

Today's most anticipated earnings report was Facebook, and moments ago the social network reported Q3 results which confirmed that while the American middle class is increasingly unable to find work, it has a lot of free time to spend on their Facebook account. To wit:

  • Q3 EPS of $0.57, Exp. $0.52, an increase of 33% from a year ago
  • Q3 Revenue of $4.50 billion, Exp. $4.37 billion, an increase of 41% from $3.2 billion Y/Y
  • Q3 mobile advertising revenue: 78% of total, in line with expectations, and up from 66% a year ago.
  • Q3 Daily Active Users: 1.01 billion, Exp. 995 million, and an increase of 17% Y/Y
  • Q3 Monthly Active Users: 1.55 billion, Exp. 1.52 billion, and an increase of 14% Y/Y
  • Q3 Mobille MAUs: 1.39 billion, an increase of 23% Y/Y

In other words, a beat on every metric.

Here is the quarter in charts:

DAUs

Mobile DAUs

MAUs by region:

Revenue by Geography:

ARPU

EPS:

The stock jumped over 3% after hours, and at last check was trading well above its all time high of $105.

Facebook is the only thing keeping more people from blowing their brains out.

I go on maybe once a week to catch up with old friends. Never played their games. For all the years i been on i never clicked an ad. Nor on this or any site. Do people actually look at ads online? If we ever get SHTF this advertising will be the first cut, would NOT want to own a social media stock.

I don't go on Facebook at all, but I've got to call bullshit on this. 1 billion daily active users is incredible. It's simply not credible.

What is more likely is bots and spam. I know because you can buy FB, twittergram, instachat, etc, accounts in bulk.

Wonder what the downstream revenue is for their advertisers.  I still use it to promote a side business, I even tried their post promotion twice, nothing but click-farmers and no net benefit.

I use an ad blocker and never see their crap on my screen, I can't imagine that advertisers are seeing a net positive out of Facebook, I could obviously be very wrong though...

what is facebook?  is it a face? a book?  I dont understand.  Put my face in a book?  Put a book in my face?  I just dont get it.  I would twitter my question but I dont know how. Off topic, but since I dont have television, I do buy dvd's for evening escape veg time. Friggin "Prison Break".  Its a great HBO series from a few years ago.. I like it because they show how the government is run by bankers and corporations.  They even have a lady who reminds me of hitlery as president and how corrupt she is.  Only on second season, but its been interesting.  I also like "deadwood" because it shows how a small town gets taken over by rich people buying up the skool, church, media, and sheriff etc.  All they had to do was start a whore house/bar/hotel and they took over the city.  A small time scale that shows how they can take over an entire country, or even the world..Got enough money and dont mind killing innocent people? Then you too can take over a town. Or a country.

I'm still curious, who the fuck actually clicks ads on facebook?  People go to google to find shit.  By extension, they may be looking to buy said shit.  No one goes on Facebook except to post pictures of themselves or see what others have posted about those pictures.  Nobody clicks ads.  Hell, I can't tell you one ad I've seen on there.  Someday, I assume companies are going to figure that out.
