Putin Suspends Flights To Egypt As World Blames ISIS For Plane Crash

Tyler Durden's picture

Over the course of the last several days, it’s become increasingly clear that an explosion was the likely cause of the disaster that caused a Russian passenger plane to abruptly stall and then plummet to the ground at 300 miles per hour last weekend over the Sinai Peninsula.

Initially, “experts” dismissed Islamic State’s claims that the plane was “destroyed” by terrorists, noting that it was extremely unlikely that IS Sinai possessed the technology and/or the expertise to down a plane flying at cruising altitude.

But the odd thing about all of the official denials is that it was never entirely clear that ISIS was claiming to have shot the plane down. Indeed, the video - real or fake - doesn’t depict a missile strike and in a “statement” released on Wednesday, the group explained that it’s under no obligation to reveal precisely how it downed the aircraft. Instead, they simply challenged the world to prove a negative (i.e. “prove we didn’t down it”) and told Russia to “die in your rage.”

Meanwhile, the home office in Raqqa aired a bizarre clip of ISIS militants handing out candy from a bowl, apparently in celebration of their Egyptian brothers’ “achievements”.  The video then cuts to five guys sitting in the front yard threatening Vladimir Putin with a bowie knife.

Well, as surreal as all of this most certainly is, both the US and the UK ultimately admitted that ISIS likely did bring down the jet. Both London and Washington cited their own “intelligence” sources on the way to speculating that a bomb was on board.

“Forensic experts” in Egypt corroborated that assessment, noting that when you see body parts scattered in an 8 kilometer radius, something probably exploded. This led directly to a decision by the UK to suspend air traffic from Sharm el-Sheikh and now, Vladimir Putin has suspended flights to Egypt. Here’s AP with more:

Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to suspend all Russian flights to Egypt on Friday after a recommendation by his chief of intelligence for a halt until the cause of last week's crash of a passenger jet in the Sinai Peninsula is determined, as an official said pieces of wreckage from the plane had been brought to Moscow to test for possible traces of explosives.

The suspension came after several days of statements by British and American officials that it was possible a bomb on board had brought down the Russia carrier Metrojet's Airbus A321-200, which crashed 23 minutes after takeoff from the Sinai resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, killing all 224 people on board. Russian and Egyptian officials had bristled at the statements, saying it was too soon to tell the cause.

The suspension, covering all of Egypt, is even more sweeping than that imposed by Britain, which had halted flights to Sharm el-Sheikh only.

"I think it will be reasonable to suspend all Russian flights to Egypt until we determine the real reasons of what happened," intelligence chief Alexander Bortnikov Bortnikov said in televised comments. "It concerns tourist flights most of all."

Meanwhile, British tourists are literally trapped at Sharm el-Sheikh. Back to AP:

The development is likely to hinder Britain's attempts to smoothly bring back the estimated 20,000 U.K. nationals in Sharm el-Sheikh. Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin said earlier Friday that "most of the people who were expecting to be home by tonight will be home by tonight."

Tempers ran high among the crowds of tourists in the airport departure lounge. When U.K. Ambassador John Casson appeared to reassure them, one irate British tourist who had waited at the airport since early morning hours, harangued him with angry shouts of: "When are we going home?"

Inside the crowded airport, British tourists said they were just anxious to get home.

"We were in the first flights that were cancelled Wednesday night, we were already queuing to board," said Amy Johnson, a 27-year-old British administrative assistant hoping to catch one of easyJet flights out.

Standing in a crush of people waiting to pass through security, Terrance Mathurian, a British builder vacationing with his family, said hotel staff told them in the morning to head to the airport, following conflicting information.

The British Department for Transport said travelers should not leave for the Sharm el-Sheikh airport unless they have a confirmed flight and asked for "people's patience at this difficult time."

Meanwhile, Dutch carrier KLM announced it instructed its passengers leaving from the Egyptian capital of Cairo that they can only take hand luggage on the plane departing Friday. A statement on KLM's website says the measure is "based on national and international information and out of precaution."

Right. So essentially, everyone is now convinced that this wasn't the result of some decade-old, faulty tail strike repair and more likely occurred because (gasp) someone detonated something on board.

Once again, the irony of IS Siani's contention that the world must prove a negative is that officials must indeed attempt to do so in order to ensure that whatever happened to Metrojet's Airbus A321-200 doesn't happen again.

Of course militants concerned that revealing the method to their proverbial madness may impair subsequent efforts to attack commercial flights needn't worry. Even if the world figures out how IS Sinai "downed" this particular Russian passenger plane, the CIA and the Saudis are more than willing to send MANPADS to rebels in Syria.

The "video" of plane mishap recorded by "ISIS" has an evidentiary value of zero.  It should not be included in any discussion of the event

If that was not immediately apparent to you, you should go back to watching sit-coms.

Let me help you. This is EXACTLY what he said.

One of the guys from 'NSYNC is literally in this video and people are accepting it as legit, huh?

Now, besides the fact that you are now answering for him for some reason...hmm... You are telling us "it isn't really some guy in nysnc, just looks like a metrosexual" -- and that means what exactly?

The conspiracy jockeys keep mentioning "Hollywood" with this video. You say they have glued on beards. Do you people know what Hollywood is? Do you really think "Hollywood" would sit down a bunch of metrosexuals with glued on beards, holding cardboard knives with a table cloth as a backdrop and try and convince anyone of anything? I caught that too, and it has gotten no play at all in western media. I heard it mentioned in Russian media. These are regular air superiority exercises. Air to Air combat using air superiority fighters and air to air missiles. Should this be investigated? Of course. It has already done this once before  in 1980 during air to air exercises of NATO.

Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870

" Former Italian President Francesco Cossiga attributed the cause of the crash to a missile fired from a French Navy aircraft, despite contrary evidence presented in Frank Taylor's 1994 report. On 23 January 2013 Italy's top criminal court ruled that there was "abundantly" clear evidence that the flight was brought down by a missile.[1] To date, this remains the deadliest aviation incident involving a DC-9-10/15 series."

I remind myself that when Russia first starting showing up in Syria, I mentioned that would be bringing in tactical nukes. Because that's how the fuck they do things. There was a minor argument about how it would never happen, too risky. I think we might see it. Putin knows this is the end-game, nobody gives a shit anymore. When everything is a false flag operation then nothing is.

ISIS is perfectly capable to pulling this off, and seems to enjoy the infamy, and they couldn't wait to claim credit. Looks good to me, no need to go any further than that.

While I'm on the subject, the whole world cannot fight ISIS and Islamoterrorism. Something is going to have to break. I can see international travel breaking, for sure. I can see an abrupt end to globalism, and who needs it anyway. Tighten borders, racial profiling, 72 hour internment centers for business travelers, the whole thing. You don't like it, stay home.

Sink the refugee boats at the docks in Turkey. Or on the Aegean. People will get the message and overnight that whole business model implodes.

Something is going to have to give and ISIS will eventually get what they want, which is simply all the ME and Africa as their private sandbox. Fine with me, they can behead who they like including European and American tourists, and can shoot down any plane or sink any ship they can reach. It's really fine so loing as they stay where they are and keep their people, their religion and their problems to themselves. But they break out of their playpen and piss off the wrong people (hi, Vladamir!) they get a couple tactical nukes and a 2 minute Youtube video reminding them and the world to stay the fuck in or out of the sandbox.

So, let's play that scenario out then, and Russian public support for the ongoing Syrian support mission is significantly increased, with ready made international justification for said mission.  Russia is consequently a more or less permanent fixture in Syria.  Kinda fucks the whole alt-pipeline deal for Eur/US, doesn't it?

Either way you slice it, Russia is winning this geopolitical/geoeconomic battle hands down.  And you know what?  There is no moral/ethical superiority to the Eur/US interests, real or manufactured.

What makes you so sure that it was ISIS who did it? Here's what one of the most informed commentators on Syria is saying:

DAMASCUS: The hushed rumors are now being disclosed to persons like myself, and, therefore, to my readers. There is a deeply held Russian suspicion that the crash of the Russian airliner over the Sinai as it took off from Sharm Al-Shaykh was the work of none other than Prince Muhammad bin Salmaan, the Deputy Heir Apparent and the “Minister of Defense” for the imploding kingdom of mental squalor. That’s right. When this arrogant little pimp left the office of President Putin, in Socchi, he mumbled a threat which was recorded by the Russian minders in the building. The best effort at decrypting it produced a threat to punish Russia for its help to Dr. Assad and to pay Mr. Putin back for the rude treatment the prince received. I will be updating all of you on this curious development. But, you can always say you read it first right here at SyrPer.

In the meantime, the British Press is making a big deal out of a pronouncement from the Ministry of Defense that the Russian Metrojet was downed by an IED placed on board, probably at Sharm Al-Shaykh. What the British are doing is giving cover to a bomb placed on the passenger jet by an agent of the Saudi regime. That agent received the bomb from a British contractor to the Saudi General “Intelligence” Directorate. The bomb is believed to have been designed around a barometric triggering device which is technology not available yet to ISIS. Nonetheless, the British liars are kiting this story in an effort to anticipate the results of the investigation which will prove that the plane was downed by a bomb. It smells of British. It was a British operation.

Don’t pay any attention to the coordinated Western effort to deflect attention from the Saudis who are definitely behind this operation. CNN, also, is referring to ISIS as the culprit. They are a part of the same boring cabal of Zionist-controlled media. What they won’t tell you is that the captain and the crew of the plane could not communicate their plight for the reason that the plane was severed in midair by an explosion of C-4 ignited by a barometric device. The explosion cut the plane’s hydraulics and all wiring for communication. Even the transponder was vaporized in the conflagration. The passengers were killed nearly instantly. Saudi Arabia will pay for this.

Dozens killed after Russia strikes de facto ISIS capital in Syria

Airstrikes by Russian warplanes on the Islamic State-held Syrian city of Raqqa killed 42 people earlier this week, including 27 civilians, the monitoring group Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Friday.

the Syrian Observatory is absolutely not credible - its one guy being used as a quote factory.

Your lazy sarcasm aside - Russian media comports strangely with independent media, and it is no less trustworthy than the absolute nonsense in the pages of the NYT, Wa Post and other, indeed, Zionist {and 'Establishment' media}.

NYT Still Pretends No Coup in Ukraine
https://consortiumnews.com/2015/01/06/nyt-still-pretends-no-coup-in-ukra...

The notion that American media is more trustworthy is absolutely absurd.

One simply has to read from as broad an array as possible and assume that everyone has an agenda, everyone is trying to convince you of a *version*.

Only its the US and its allies that have gone around the world bombing and killing based on pretext and lies, not the Russians.

So the false equivalency ploy makes sense - until you give it a moment's thought.

"So which sources are credible?"

Certainly not so much the Western ones that have been lying non-stop for the last 15 years. They destroyed their own credibility, reflected in their drop in audience / readership. And they don't lie in the pursuit of a just peace, they lie in pursuit of war and dominance, always pouring fuel on the fire. So many lies, too many to count, but remember Saddam's WMD, Libya's soldiers on Viagra, SAA gas attack on Ghouta, just to name a few.

Don't you get tired of being lied to repeatedly, by the same sources?

Western Media refuses to expose this guy for what he is. He hides up in his house, claiming people are out to kill him, and puts out posts about war crimes. He hasn't been to Syria for over a decade, and admits No First Hand Knowledge of his Syrian sources, he gets his information second hand from so called friends of friends in Syria. Big impact of Russia's suspension of Egypt flights

Roland Oliphant, our correspondent in Moscow, writes:

Quote

It’s not just the Egyptian economy that will hurt after this. Russia’s association of tour agencies says today’s decision cuts off their biggest market and sets them on a “direct path to bankruptcy.”

“Egypt is the single biggest selling destination on the Russian tourism market, and right now it is peak season. It’s the main destination for all the large tour operators,” said Irina Tyurina, a spokeswoman for the Russian Union of Tour Operators.

“There’s 50,000 Russians there now, and those who have to come home early or have bought tickets but now can’t travel, should get their money back from the tour operators. It’s a direct path to bankruptcy for many firms.”

20k Brits to be evacuated with only one carry on due to security concerns - rightly so as Sharm has been Infiltrated by ISIS sympathizers. The Egyptians will keep the Brits 150 tons luggage as liquidated damages for David Cameron "destroying" their tourism industry.

"Airport guards regularly skip security checks for friends"

A retired senior official in Egypt's Tourism Ministry says "airport security procedures in Egypt are almost (all) bad."

Magdy Salim told news agency The AP he understands why people are scared - that's because security measures in Egypt are lax.

He said airport guards regularly skip security checks for friends or co-workers, and they often don't search people "if they look chic or if they come out of a fancy car."

He noted that a donkey was found wandering around Cairo airport in April, and in recent weeks, a stray dog wandered onto a runway. He said security forces were even called in to catch a rogue cat ahead of an inspection by international regulators.

Russia's top spy calls for suspension of Egypt flights

Russia's top spy has called for the suspension of flights between Russia and Egypt, in the first indications that Moscow now believes flight 7K9268 was destroyed by a bomb.

Alexander Bortnikov, the director of Russia's Federal Security Service, has said it is essential to halt flights to Egypt.

Suspended flights are first sign Moscow suspects terrorism

According to Russian news agency TASS, there are currently 45,000 tourists on holiday in Egypt. Russian tourists are the biggest group in Sharm, followed by Britons.

Vladimir Putin has ordered the suspension of tourist flights from Russia to Egypt and the evacuation of all Russian citizens still in the country, in the first signs that Russian officials suspect Metrojet flight 7K9268 may have been destroyed by terrorists.

"Mr Putin has asked the government to develop a mechanism for realization of the reccomendation of the National Anti-terrorrism Committee and ensure the return home of Russian citizens," Mr Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on Friday afternoon.

An update of the Tourney between Langley and Moscow this first week of November.

As you know, on Wednesday the Big Big Three, Barack Obama, President of the US, David Cameron, Prime Minister of the UK, and Doofus al-Evil, the US appointed Emir of ISIL, tried to co opt the investigation of the crash of the Russian plane in Sinai.

“I don’t think we know yet” what caused the crash, Obama said ... But it is certainly possible that there was a bomb on board.”

British Prime Minister David Cameron says it's "more likely than not."

ISIS released a message on November 4 with claims that the group was responsible for the Russian plane crash in Sinai, and said its method will be revealed soon.

ISIS first claimed credit for the downing of the Russian passenger jet an hour after the plane went down.  Six days later they're telling the world that "their method will be revealed soon."

WHAT THEY ARE REALLY SAYING IS THAT THEIR METHOD WILL BE REVEALED AS SOON AS THE CIA TELLS THEM WHAT METHOD THE CIA USED AND THAT ISIS SHOULD CLAIM THE SAME.

THE CIA'S FEAR IS THAT THE INVESTIGATORS WILL UNCOVER A SOPHISTICATED EXPLOSIVE THAT THE RETARDNIKS IN ISIS COULD ONLY HAVE GOTTEN FROM LANGLEY OR MI6.

But Russian and Egyptian authorities pushed back Thursday on suggestions that a bomb brought down Metrojet Flight 9268 over Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, saying there's no evidence yet to support that theory.

Today the National Anti-Terrorist Committee said it deems it necessary to stop all Russian flights to Egypt until the causes of the A321 plane crash are established. Russian experts are taking wipe-samples from the plane fragments and passengers’ luggage to trace possible explosives.

If this investigation gets troublesome, there will be a fight in Langley between those who wanted the plane to go down in the drink and those who wanted it down in the desert for the propaganda value.

The US/UK intelligence guys screwed up the timeline this past week, putting out new rules for their peole and announcing they had intel proving IS did it before cluing in the Russians.

It was a surprisingly blatant mistake.  Let's see, whom do we know in a position of power in Russia who would be intimately familiar with the way this game is played?  Who would know immediately exactly what this timeline error signifies?

The US/UK has amazingly good information on what IS is doing, n' est ce pas?  And fantastic surveillance data, right out of the chute, in stark contrast to the seeming complete inattention paid to Malaysian jetliners.

I am leaning toward believing that it was an act taken by the US and Israel during their war games from a location nearby the downing. Too much of a coincidence.

That's a valid thought. We should be asking "why the USA and UK are in such a hurry to claim bomb". It was a Russian plane, and the US and UK have no interest in this, unless they do have a hidden interest in this.

Lets harken back to MH-17. The instant and coordinated lies across all western media within hours, suggests a link between all Media Corporations and their Editorial Staffs. A German journalist wrote a book about his work for the CIA as a german journalist. He was under the impression that CIA was active across all media corporations and their editorial staff. I think MH-17 proved the fact that CIA does control much of what we read and hear. Otherwise, who can explain the exact same stories in all western media appearing before any of them even had a chance to read each others work! Odds of replication without prior knowledge are zero!

Whether or not it was a bomb matters a lot less than who knew when and how they knew it.  Like, for instance, if they knew it was a bomb before it blew up.

The US and UK are in a hurry to establish the parameters of the results of the investigation before Russia.  does.  They want the world to think it was ISIS and one of ISIS's bombs.  Case closed.

The Russian's investigation is looking for two things: 1) how, when, and where the bomb was planted on the plane; 2) and most important was the bomb constructed of chemicals that ISIS couldn't possibly have gotten. With a high tech trigger and a remote capability again that ISIS couldn't possibly have had.

Obviously the trigger and remote are gone with the blast, but Russia now is wiping all the metal and plastic remains, inside and out, for periodic table fingerprints on the remains of the plane.  Perhaps finding traces of a thermobaric eplosion that ISIS would not have the means to construct.

As I said earlier, there might be a kerfuffle now in Langley between those in the CIA who wanted it to explode over the Mediterranean and those who wanted where pictures could be shot to get the Agency's story out on Fox 24/7.

Isn't it interesting that this plane tragedy happens and suddenly nobody is talking about Putins disater in Ukraine?

Why would that be?

Isn't it interesting the Russian economy is terrible and suddenly nobody mentions it.

Why would that be?

Isn't it interesting that people are no longer mentioning Russia spending $5 MILLION per day in Syria whilst the Mother country suffers.

Why would that be?

Just asking...

Firstly, I don't accept your assertions. I read Russian media, and those stories are covered every day, in great detail. Do you even know what media is active in Russia? If you don't, then your assertions fall flat. I mean, even in English, the above subjects are reported in detail and daily. Are you really limited to US Main Stream Media? If that is the case, then of course you don't read about anything.

A few things "Jack"

You read Russian media every day. OK. Why do your read Russian media everyday and why are you here everyday writing in English under the name "Jack Burton"?

I monitor RT pretty closely because I don't speak Russian. They aren't saying much about my points above right now. Actually, RT is much better than people let on and it doesn't get enough credit. It's pretty much like Fox News but for Russia but if you know that going in, then you're ok.

Here is some news from Ukraine. "

“In Zaporozhye, attacks on ATO participants have begun”
In Zaporozhye, an unknown group dressed in black is attacking Ukrainian soldiers and brutally beating them. A soldier with the call-sign “Cat” from the 81st air-assault brigade recently spent days in the hospital. This has been reported by 061.ua"

More Ukraine news you never read about.

" A fight broke out between the deputy/volunteer battalion commander, Andrei Tetruk (elected from the People's front of Arseniy Yatsenyuk) and deputy Alexandra Kuzhel (from Batkivshchyna of Yulia Tymoshenko) in Verkhovnaya Rada of Ukraine. A former participant of the ATO  hit a female colleague on the head with a bottle during the discussion after the meeting of parliament."

I missed this in US Main Stream media: "

The Russian Air Force has carried out 81 sorties hitting 263 Islamic State (IS) targets in two days in Syria, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Russian jets hit targets that mostly belong to Islamic State and other militants in such provinces as Aleppo, Damascus, Deir ez-Zor, Idlib, Latakia, Raqqa, Hama and Homs, Igor Konashenkov, a Defense Ministry spokesman, said Thursday. After their combat missions all the jets returned to the Russian Khmeimim airbase in Latakia, he said."

Isn't it interesting that people are no longer mentioning Russia spending $5 MILLION per day in Syria whilst the Mother country suffers.

Maybe he's printing rubles the way your beloved Shining City on a Hill has been printing dollars for the last 6 years? Put your dentures back in and try to come up with a better one than Ukraine.  Idiot.

The Mockies over at Charlie Hebdo seemed to find it funny that this plane crashed, not so funny when a bunch of their people got killed at work back in January:

http://sputniknews.com/cartoons/20151106/1029698946/JeNeSuisPasCharlie.html

One of the pictures shows a jihadist of the Islamic State (IS) militant group and plane’s debris falling around him. The caption says “IS: Russian Aviation intensifies its bombing campaign.

Mocking a plane crash where 224 people were killed, such a rich source of humor hahahaha so fucking hysterical fucking faggot frogs

I saw this yesterday. Honestly, given what we call "Western Values" I fully expected the guardians of culture in France to come up with something like this. When their people die, it's a world wide event. When others die, it is a joke. Let's be clear, this story has made it deep into Russian media. Need I tell you what the mood is now?

They mock E V E R Y T H I N G.

Get a fucking grip. Tasteles and improper? Yea sure but the Islamic fanatics said the same thing about the cartoons of Muhammad. Where were the complaining Russians when Charlie Hebdo was making those cartoons? Cheering Charlie Hebdo is where... Now? The Russians want Charlie Hebdo shut down.

Russia, America, Islam, France, Jews E V E R T H I N G AND E V E R Y O N E  is mocked by Charlie Hebdo. Tasteless and often outrageous but that is free speech.

My favorite Hebdo cartoon about Israel, was the one where they were making fun of israelis for cutting the arms off of little kids guilty of throwing rocks at tanks. Now granted the rocks they were throwing used to be their schools and in some cases those of their own homes after a good old fashioned, but hilarious, "demolishing". They really let them have it in that issue.

Hebdo is a genius.

That's what the French call freedom of the press. As long as it is vulgar and insulting it's ok.

Is it not the case that a Russian passenger plane was downed after the Russian air force bombed ISIS for a month, while no US planes were terrorized after the US air force bombed ISIS for a year.

IS IT A PUZZLEMENT?

EITHER THE CIA IS ISIS

OR HAS A DEAL WITH ISIS,

WHICH IS THE SAME THING.

Christopher Bollyn, the leading 9/11 investigator, finds the evidence pointing to the Russian flight being brought down by by remote hijacking. Possibly by Israel's Military Intelligence Unit 8200. Western media are oddly coy about discussing technology that America displays on a regular basis for bombing weddings.
