Wealthiest Americans Ominously Remind Nation They Could Easily Drop Another $10 Billion On Election
Fact or Fiction...
Calmly stating that they would not even need to think twice about doing so, the nation’s wealthiest individuals ominously reminded the populace during a press conference Wednesday that they could easily drop another $10 billion on the 2016 election.
“We want to make it completely clear to voters that there’s absolutely no reason - none at all - why we couldn’t shell out another $10 billion between now and next November,” said casino magnate Sheldon Adelson on behalf of the top tenth of a percent of income-earners in the U.S., adding that creating dozens of new and extremely well-funded super PACs would mean practically nothing to them.
“Trust me, we’ve got plenty to throw around, so it really wouldn’t be a problem. We could spread it around a bunch of congressional races, or, heck, we could put it all on one presidential candidate—it doesn’t really affect us much either way.
Why don’t we toss in a billion right now just to give you a taste?”
The nation’s wealthiest families then added that they would have no problem repeating the process for the next 30 election cycles before silently walking off the stage.

I guess they aren't interested in my two cents then....
No. They're not.
Was that source the WSJ? lol
Satire can be a very effective method of getting the truth across to the masses. There have been many past examples of this, both in press, and in comedy; the ability to present "The Real Deal" whilst hiding under the effective camouflage of "harmless entertainment" has long been a way of avoiding the unwelcome attentions of "those in Real Power". It can be a VERY fine line to tread, as many satirists have discovered to their (sometimes fatal) cost . . . . .
The Onion gets away with this since it's really a "fringe" site - http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/theonion.com ranking outside the top 500 in the US (but note the increase in Global ranking . . . ). The "Great Unwashed" probably never visit this site, since they prefer their information packaged in a more traditional way (i.e. "no thought or insight required").
The rather unpalatable fact that the Onion has really "hit the nail on the head" with this article would still cause too much cognitive dissonance with "the Majority" for the article to gain any mainstream traction. This alone should be of significant concern, if "You the People" still believe in "your" representative style of Government.

But that doesn't necessarily make it untrue ya know. These fuckers rule everything.
That is why "they" hate and fear the 2nd amendment.
Fuck you oligarch's!
Whatchu gonna do when the Ubuntu Party gets involved?
Most of the Ubuntu party has defected to the Mint party...
;-D
OBTW: Nice avatar... ;-)
.
All they're interested in is the fact that they can brainwash the American ant population with louzy commercials and that they'll do exactly what they want.
Another example that proves how dumbed down most Americans are compaired to other people in the world.
Dumb and dumberererered...
If those morons would say that in Europe, the underdog would get all the votes.
In America it's way more easy. Tell the ants you love family values while fucking every 18 year old intern, tell them you want peace while killing women and children and sending out troops to rape the world and never say anything about the American police state.
America gets what it has comming.
And while most Americans think it would throw the world in archy, the truth would be that there would be global fireworks and celebrations.
And the fact that not a single politicians responded to this powergrab by private individuals... SICK!!!!!
The majority of (maybe in some ways ALL) US Politicians are "owned" by others, and those others are not the electorate. Sheldon Adelson is but one of many "owners", most of whom prefer a more clandestine arrangement.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the US loses "Reserve Currency Status". No more living the high(er) life courtesy of the rest of the planet, so overall the "rest of the World" will see a quality of life improvement, although maybe not immediately, and maybe not for everyone (corruption being a popular "business model" Worldwide).
No Nation is "Exceptional", nor is any Nation "Indispensible", especially when said Nation is well-known as a source of exploitation / theft / political manipulation. The greatest risk is that of the Military "Elite" deciding to go out with a bang, a la Samson Option. When Psychopathy is rewarded (via enhanced promotion prospects), the end result becomes very unpredictable, as any Psychiatrist will confirm. Their minds DO "work in a different way", especially where value-sets, empathy and engagement are concerned.
Oh, some pols have raised hackles over the power grab and they have/had fairly significant support from the populace. The reason very few know this (certainly not you since you have been a regular here for years so what gives with making the false claim?) mainly because the mainstream (monied and pervasive) have covered it up and refused to cover those stories so it appears to be nothing much at all. The Tea Party was a big deal for a little while but quickly co-opted by apparatchiks of The One Party (those at the TOP).
I do believe that most people around the world believed that virtually everyone in the USSR was communist too. Was the same but during more technologically primitive times.

You have two cents?
i spent my last 2 cents creating a super pac
My last two cents fell out of the boat...Damn!!!
;-D
Arrogant motherfuckers. All your money won't keep your neck out of the noose. I'd rather eat beans out of a can and watch all of you hang than take a penny of your blood money.
Since you aren't running for office you won't have to worry about dealing with any of their money.
I'm thinking on running on a super hyped up pro-Republican platform on steroids.
I'll be telling everyone how lucky we are to have the banking system that we have in America and not some shit hole country like Zimbabwe, the ability to create money out of thin air and let the world pay for it because if they don't our brave military men will gladly erase their national debt (and most of their villages). We will DEMAND the rag heads in Gaza relocate to someplace in inner Iraq so that our bff Israel can rip down the shanty town and build some elegant high rises on the ocean like they did in Tel-Aviv, and naturally the US will be more than willing to help fund the projects. Should be a boost for CAT too. How are we going to pay for it? We will raise social security and Obama care taxes of course!
That should get me noticed for a super pac. Well, it's off to the printers first thing in the morning.
Um, yeah, they'll take those too.
Your two cents ain't worth a nicke these days.
What difference would it make if they did ?
I guess they indirectly dropped a hint on Trump. Trump, as an unpredictable unguided missile, portrays a danger for the neocon's agenda as a whole. If they come to conclusion that the situation is going out of control they'll swiftly introduce a new upgraded group of servile candidates with spectacular presentation backed by unlimited resources.
There are very wealthy people that aren't neoconservative and aren't socialist. They are very awake these days.
But they are certainly not those the article is referring to, especially, when looking at George Soros on the right.
Send a few Mil my way, and I'll shill for ya, right here on ZH.
In MDB style. Hell, most don't know the diff between Irony and Sarcasm, or Parody and Satire anyway. [Now let me find the Dictionary, and look up Parody..]
Draw and quarter all those mother fuckers
Names. Lists.
It's an Onion piece folks.
Satire and sarcasm iz hard for the sheeple to detect.
It's easy to confuse the two at this point. Reality has caught up with their satire.
Citizens United , bitchez... LOL
The poor photoshopping job should have made it obvious. Where's WB7?
TO editors understand that they need to be careful. Their satire is cutting so close to the truth (no fault of theirs) that they need to reduce themselves to cheap P-shopping to make it obvious they are trolling.
That said, let's see if this gets picked up by RT ....
or PressTV.com (the Iranian site, which picked up GOBS of Veterans Today stories ...!)
Not anymore. PressTV has been infiltrated by Mossad of late. VT will go onto PressTV as guests for comment, but no longer write there. No longer are contributors. This shook out about the same time as the Stew Webb fiasco ..
He had a bad nightmare last night and is still shaken in his boots.
The problem is that the Onion starts to sound more real each day. In fact, I think the MSM and the Onion already crossed paths on a "lies-versus-reality" chart (if someone was to draw one that is - lol).
The Onion only got the amount wrong. They're willing to spend $20 Billion.
Ten billion represents $72 for every working American. I'll bet the average 'merican would gladly sell their vote directly for $72. Most don't seem to care - or (rightfully) believe that it doesn't matter who gets elected.
I dont know whats real amymore!!!!
you shouldn't trust anything from corporate media these days... like many mature observers have warned us, the "news" has been weaponized, and there really is a "war on for your mind" ...
as Alan Watt notes, it's getting dangerous to have your own opinion nowadays ...
anyone notice that story that came out the other day about GHWB being upset with Cheney & Co's 911 reactions ! rich, eh ?
maybe instead of fighting to take fluoride poisons out of the USA drinking water supplies, we should encourage a doubling & tripling of it (while we have our own filters to eliminate such poisons) and simply quicken the dumberered down syndrome ....
Are those playing cards?
Well, now I have my handgun targets for the weekend....off to the copier I go!
Good one ....they're sticking it up old Donald's ass sos they can get their trusted boy Jeb in the big seat.
Last thing they want is a power hungry billionaire egotist like Trump ... he doesn't follow instructions well.
Uh ... hold on ... you mean Jeb isn't a power hungry billionaire? I'm pretty sure he's backed by a few already. Same applies to the lot of them.
i think it was Alex Jones who found and replayed the other day a Jebber quote or two ... "I'd kill for my father, and I'd go to prison for my father "
things that make you go hmmmmm.
It was
The onion, ZH? Weird.
Ahhhh I get it now. Let's not make this a habit though ZH. I don't want to constantly have to check the craziness to see if its an Onion article or not.
It shows how much of a farce the process is when people are not sure if the story is real or satire.
It literally says "Source: The Onion" at the end of the article
We were distracted by our NSA surveillance devices immediately after reading the headline.
Someone tweeted that they saw Rubio shoving a hamster up his butt.

This one is pure comedy gold. Sorry last link i post in awhile.
Well, quite an "in depth" review - seems we should ignore the Obama / Bush / Clinton problems, since the "real" reasons for our Global "lack of profitability" are the Black Death, Civil Wars, and the Fall of the Roman Empire (along with abolition of slavery / indentured servitude). Goes well with the following from their "Other Articles you might find of interest" -

Well worth the subscription in my view! :-)
the omission is the truth.
"Money well spent," said the CEO of lining the pockets of politicians. "Congressmen don't come cheap."
Actually when you see for how little they are bought for it is amazing.
the Monster Mash....
May they die slowly and painfully of ass cancer, bleeding from every hole. Or hung from a lamppost during a revolution. Either is fine with me.
They only want to oppress us for our own good.
It's for their children
Their children, or the ones they sleep with?
Oops...forgot - they sleep with ALL of them. SO sorry.
If you're a Buffet you could drop 10 Million on each contender knowing your
going get back at least 100x in deals. It's like backing every horse in a race, except you really don't care who wins. And the reason they don't care, what difference does it make.
That is not how they operate.
They drop their "bets" on those they know will "win", since they have the means (and connections) to ensure those they DON'T want to win, are effectively hobbled.
Owning ALL MSM channels is a very major advantage, which they know how to use for maximum benefit.
Where does the majority of money go to fund a national political campaign?
It goes to the television networks! See: http://www.opensecrets.org/pres12/expenditures.php ).
Would it then be a fair assessment that if they are giving so much money to candidates who then spend probably 80% of that money on advertisement companies owned, in one way or another, by those exact same donors....that they aren't giving money at all, but distribution rights to that candidate's brand?
Yes, I believe you're correct in certain instances. For example, if Rupert Murdoch donates money to Carly Fiorina's campaign, she would in turn buy advertising time on FOX TV affiliates (owned by NewsCorp) to broadcast her message. I think the reason there is an exchange of money is for income tax purposes. It's easier to declare hard money as an expense since it is tangible as opposed to donating broadcast time (intangible) to a campaign. But I'm only guessing about this as I do not have an accounting background.
However my original post was to bring into the light the major cost for national campaigns is television broadcast time. Believe it or not, the American people own the airwaves. I think for presidential elections these networks should be required to charge a reduced cost as part of their FCC (Federal Communication Commission) license. Of course this idea would send libertarians into an apoplectic fit but the country needs to hear from a wider variety of candidates and one way to do that is to reduce the expense of television advertising.
In other words, bend over and spread'em, cause you're getting fucked....vaseline optional.
The sand, however, is not.
The truth is appalling and funny enough. I prefer to not see satire on ZH.
The rich hate big government, you know. That's why they buy governments all over the world. They simply hate big government with a passion. The worst part is that these governments keep making them richer and they think the rich should pay more taxes because they *care* so deeply for the common man. Their checkbook is always ready to help government, especially the ones they hate owning.
They don't hate (big) government, they are using it.
Hey you guys who didn't notice that this is written by the onion or if you don't know what the onion is then you need to go back to cnbc.
What's cnbc? That the tv station makes my eyes water?
Dr. Ben is gonna need every penny of it. Lying sack of - hell they all are.
Even though it's an Onion piece, the sad part about this is that it's true.
So could I. All I need to do is hack my bank account and add a few zeros to the balance like these guys.

Lifetime compensation would be offered to whistleblowers who risk their careers to expose company misconduct under a radical overhaul floated by the corporate watchdog.

Not even RT has posted this yet. Why did Abby Martin leave RT?
who is the third guy?
Election money should be equal, small, and provided by the government. $100 million each and no more. Buying elections doesn't serve the people.
I still want to see a candidate say 'vote for me, you are out of my jurisdiction and your unalienable rights are not subject to me'.
Election funding by capitalists is the biggest fraud & corruption on public who vote & select their candidates. The elected ones will no longer work for public, they will ONLY work for the fund raisers , which undermines democracy .
If democracy is required by state, the elections should also be funded by state. All candidates should be given time slots on TV channels for debates & for presenting their manifesto and what about www . Its so simple . Why billions of $ are required for election funding. Its only promoting crony capitalism which has substituted democracy.
PRESENT DEMOCRACY : VOX CRONY VOX DEI
