Did Russia Just "Gently" Threaten The USA?

Tyler Durden's picture

Authored by The Saker,

Interesting stuff today.  A major Russian TV channel just aired a report about Putin meeting with his top military commanders.  I don’t have the time to translate what Putin said word for word, but basically he said that the USA had refused every single Russian offer to negotiate about the US anti-missile system in Europe and that while the US had initially promised that the real target of this system was Iran, now that the Iranian nuclear issue had been solved, the US was still deploying the system.  Putin added that the US was clearly attempting to change the world’s military balance.  And then the Russian footage showed this:

Status6

According to the Kremlin, it was a mistakenly leaked secret document.  And just to make sure that everybody got it, RT wrote a full article in English about this in an article entitled “‘Assured unacceptable damage’: Russian TV accidentally leaks secret ‘nuclear torpedo’ design“. According to RT

The presentation slide titled “Ocean Multipurpose System: Status-6” showed some drawings of a new nuclear submarine weapons system. It is apparently designed to bypass NATO radars and any existing missile defense systems, while also causing heavy damage to “important economic facilities” along the enemy’s coastal regions. The footnote to the slide stated that Status-6 is intended to cause “assured unacceptable damage” to an adversary force. Its detonation “in the area of the enemy coast” would result in “extensive zones of radioactive contamination” that would ensure that the region would not be used for “military, economic, business or other activity” for a “long time.” According to the blurred information provided in the slide, the system represents a massive torpedo, designated as “self-propelled underwater vehicle,” with a range of up to 10 thousand kilometers and capable of operating at a depth of up to 1,000 meters.

Actually, such ideas are nothing new.  The late Andrei Sakharov had already proposed a similar idea to basically wipe out the entire US East Coast.  The Russians have also look into the possibility to detonate a nuclear device to set off the “Yellowstone Caldera” and basically destroy most of the USA in one shot.  While in the early years following WWII the Soviets did look into all sort of schemes to threaten the USA with destruction, the subsequent development of Soviet nuclear capabilities made the development of this type of “doomsday weapons” useless.  Personally, I don’t believe for one second that the Russians are now serious about developing such system as it would be literally a waste of resources.  So what is going on here?

This so-called “leak” of “secret documents” is, of course, no leak at all.  This is a completely deliberate action.  To imagine that a Russian journalist could, just by mistake, film a secret document (helpfully held up for him by a general) and then just walk away, get it passed his editor and air it is laughable.  Any footage taken in a meeting of the President with his senior generals would be checked many times over.  No, this was a deliberate way to remind the USA that if they really are hell-bent on spending billions of dollars in a futile quest to create some kind of anti-missile system Russia could easily develop a cheap weapon system to still threaten the USA with total annihilation.  Because, make no mistake, the kind of long range torpedo being suggested here would be rather cheap to build using only already existing technologies.  I would even add that rather than setting such a weapon off the US coast the system could also be designed to fire off a secondary missile (ballistic or cruise) which could then fly to any inland target.  Again, such technologies already exist in the Russian military and have even been deployed on a smaller scale. See for yourself:

Coming back to the real world, I don’t believe for one second that any type of anti-missile system could be deployed in Europe to shield NATO the EU or the US from a Russian retaliatory strike should the Empire ever decide to attack Russia.  All the East Europeans are doing is painting a cross-hair on themselves as these will be the very first targets to be destroyed in case of a crisis.  How? By use of special forces first and, if needed, by Iskander missile strikes if all else fails.  But the most likely scenario is that key components of the anti-missile system will suddenly experience “inexplicable failures” which will render the entire system useless.  The Russians know that and so do the Americans.  But just to make sure that everybody got the message the Russians have now shown that even a fully functional and survivable US anti-missile system will not protect anybody from a Russian retaliation.

The sad thing is that US analysts all fully understand that but they have no say in a fantastically corrupt Pentagon.  The real purpose of the US program is not to protect anybody against a non-existing Russian threat, but to dole out billions of dollars to US corporations and their shareholders.  And if in the process the US destabilizes the entire planet and threatens the Russians – then “to hell with ‘em Russikes!  We are the indispensable nation and f**k the rest of the planet!”  Right?

Wrong.

What happened today is a gentle reminder of that.

To be honest, you are the guy who concerns me the most.

Whenever a topic is deemed to be of importance to the Russian State, the troll brigade rolls into action. Usually, however, ZH attracts a reasonably urbane and witty group of agents even if it is always the same group of people who never comment on any other topic of consequence-- only Russian ones.

The fact that you are here tells me two things:

1) That this topic is of great interest to the Russian State.

2) That the usual players are busy on other sites, no doubt doing the same sort of work in venues deemed to be more influential than this one.

Yet here you are, doing your level best to fight the good fight for old alma mater.

So I am led to conclude that the topic is of even more importance to the Russian State than usual, since they need their best troops to mass on bigger targets, yet also need to keep the pressure up on humble places such as this.

As a result, they task the unready and under-trained for what is, in effect, a suicide mission that ends up burning out your identity as a credible player before it is truly ready for deployment. Ergo, you will soon disappear and then will magically come back with a new identity and a more polished and properly-supervised presentation at some point in the future.

Still, I wonder how desperate things really are if they are sending guys like you to the front. Whoever you will become in the future, I hope to see you around in better times.

I suppose one could ask the same question of you, Mr. 4 weeks and 4 days.

You seem awfully familiar with things that happened long before that date.

But you mention threadjacking. I suppose it's true since this is one of those "Russian troll" threads where any other opinion is howled into silence and he has an opinion other than yours. Ergo, he is indeed moving the thread away from Putinistic hosannas of praise and offering a sober word of warning about the snake you are happily clasping to your bosom.

Every time I see one of his posts and witness the legions of discourteous abuse he is subject to, I think of the lonely stand of Winston Churchill back when everyone else was worshipping at the feet of Der Fuhrer. I know that history will vindicate his efforts, and you will do your best to bury any extant record of yours. But that is all in the future.

A day or two ago, you made an impassioned defense of the First Amendment. Why does it not apply to this man's opinion as well as to those of you and your friends?

I don't think it is fair to say that the country should be dismantled. They have their problems but given third history it is not unexpected. On top of that there are outside powers being provocateurs and making things worse.
Overall the level of intelligence in Ukraine is much higher than the US as is the educational level. Their biggest problem is crippling corruption. ...and you can thank members of the tribe and former communist big shots for that.
These are the same problems that exist or existed in all the Soviet block countries.
I keep reading how Poland is a shining example of a former Soviet block country with good economy and low unemployment.
That's mostly because huge number of Poles are in Germany and England where they can earn a decent living.
The same holds true for the Baltic and Czech Republic.
Those people come home and the unemployment picture will look quite different.

Another point is that people in those countries do not draw a distinction between the Soviet Union and Russia. Russia was an aggressive nation before the Bolshevik Revolution, so when the Soviet Union invaded to those people it was Russia.
Those who are honest will also acknowledge that during the days of the Soviet Union most people in the West referee to that country as Russia. If the met a Latvian 30 years ago, they would have referred to that person as Russian.

And I am pretty sure that you can that a very small group of individuals for all the Russophobia. You know, the extremely rich globalist that fund thousands of NGOs around the world..

While I can understand to an extrnt Baltic paranoia, your claims about Ukraine and Georgia are simply wrong. Georgia started that war by killing Russian peacekeepers there by treaty, and crimea voted to leave after the US backed coup.

after maidan, ethnic russians reacted to the anti-russian coup and rhetoric by occupying buildings just as had been done at maidan.

Then the coup regime began attacking them and we were off to the races. I do not fault Russia for any assistance they provided those people. Kiev rejected autonomy and has broken ceasefires dozens of times. The western press of course presents kiev killing its own people when its been russians as wonderful.

You spend so much time villifying russia you seem to forget that the US propaganda machine is without parallel.

Until Kiev coup happened Ukraine was leaning more towards Russia.
Go back and read the news articles from before the coup.
Russia was offering Ukraine an economic Union which was independent of any deals with the EU.
It was the EU that was forcing Kiev to pick one. A deal with the EU had to be exclusive. This is when Russia sweetened the offer and the now outsted president made the deal with Russia.
Soon after the protests went into high gear.

Started invasions in other countries - Georgia, Ukraine"

Let's see,,, the USA has clearly invaded Iraq, Afghanistan, bombed Libya into the stone age, bombed Serbia for no reason, killing hundreds by Drones in ME and Asia, Supporting terrorists in Iraq and Syria to overthrow another government, Tried to punish Somalia, but got run out, Admitted to overthrowing the legitimate government of Ukraine to install Nazi wannabees, and are now placing US troops in Syria to assist in overthrowing the Syrian government.

Now for Russia:

They were defending South Ossetia against US and Israeli armed Gerogia. They are most likely assisting the sections of Ukraine that don't want the Nazi's to kill them. But where are the invasions?

The annexation of Crimea was by request but admittedly Russia would not allow their naval base to be turned over to the USA. But then Cuba has for years requested the USA to leave Guantanamo with no success as the USA has built an offshore torture facility.

The USA puppets in the EU are endangering their own Peoples by sanctions and other threats of war with Russia to please their USA masters.

To the Euro-peons.... You don't get peace and tranquility by placing troops, tanks, fighters, bombers and missile systems on someones border while screaming i n v a s i o n!  And as this article explains,,, you will be the first to be incinerated. From what it appears, you all seem okay with that. You are being used by the USA as a buffer, just like you were used by the USSR.

Not only that but the constant USA bombing in the ME has created millions of refugees that are flooding your nations. These people are of a different culture and will eventually displace your culture. Europe is finished. And all by the actions of what you consider your friend,,, the USA.

Vladimir Putin,

You are a liar and a fraud who is a lackey of the bankers.

If you were not;

1) The Russian central bank would not be allowed to remain a treasonous private institution controlled by City of London/Western ruling class interests which finances the Syrian war of terror waged by America, Europe, Saudi Arabia, and Israel against the Syrians and the Christians living there.

2) Russia would not accept fraudulent (unconstitutional, illegal) and not-even-worthless [because FRNs are not even defined as to exactly what they are worth] US dollars or Euros for Russia’s real and valuable oil and other natural resources, or for its arms sales. That’s treason.

3)Russia would vehemently have denounced the fact that Americans and Europeans are manipulating the price of gold, silver and platinum lower by selling precious metal that they don’t have in fraudulent paper markets only, to the tune of several hundred ounces MORE than each ounce the West actually have available for delivery. [For each ounce of eligible & registered gold in Comex warehouses, the Americans already have sold several hundred ounces on paper.] Like all IMF member countries, Russia acquiesces that it’s forbidden to use gold as money…

Putin,

You’re a traitor to Russia and all of mankind.

If not,

You’d have used fuel-air bombs on Raqqa (the de facto capital of the Islamic State) and exterminated these American agents before they tortured, raped and killed hundreds of thousands of human beings.

You would have hit the oil fields controlled by ISIS which finances their rape, torture and mass murder of human beings in the name of American- and European-aligned interests. You would have denounced and attacked the parties that buy this oil from them and destroyed their oil trade routes.

If Putin was defending his country, or Syria, he immediately would stop accepting dollars or euros for Russian oil or Russian arms.

By continuing to do so, Putin is financing America's aggression towards Russia, Syria and the rest of the world.

You really want to start WW3 and get the USA vitrified?

If Russia hastens to do all you say, hence humiliates the USA even moar than they already are, the aforementioned USA could throw themselves into desperate action. And get us all killed, since the Russians have the S-300, the S-400 and so forth, while the USA has zilch, nada, fuck all to shield itself.

In a nutshell, the Russians are trying to find ways around everything to help the USA save some face, a game called diplomacy the US should do well to learn. In fact, it's more complicated than that, but there is one basic thing you must understand, it is that the USA has never faced such a self-inflicted threat since the Missile Crisis.
Like back then, it is what comes with bullying the wrong guy.

Lea,

It is a fact that Americans never acquiesced to a reasonable solution to any conflict whatsoever. Americans do not negotiate, period. There never was a people so full of themselves in the history of mankind. Therefore, negotiating in good faith with Americans is FUTILE.

The only way to deal with Americans is to either eliminate them outright [which you can't, with a nuclear power] or make it impossible for the Americans to continue their evil ways. The latter you do by taking away the 'exorbitant privilege' of the dollar which enables the Americans to wage war without paying for it in real terms. An approximation of the first, you do by acting decisively and forcefully to hit the Americans in order to disable their conventional war machine -- which the Americans NEVER will stop using unless they are forced to do so.

The Russians and the others must understand that Americans will not stop unless they are stopped. And the Americans MUST be stopped if we want to live normal lives on this planet. Americans and the human race are mutually exclusive considerations.

A bully will never stop unless he's made to stop. It's not like we have a choice, Lea. We humans must stop the Americans if we want to live normal lives instead of one spent in fear or misery, for so many among us.

It must be clear to the Americans that we will not put up with their shit, even if it is at the cost of our own lives. That is the only attitude that is afforded us humans as regards the abominable Americans.

Fuck the Americans.

A common term you will hear from Russian and non-Russian Kremlin supporters is the classic “brother peoples,” or in Russian, ???????? ??????. What does this term actually mean, and is it worth being a “brother people” to Russia?

There are some in Russia today who still like to imagine Russia as the leader of the Slavic peoples. I say “imagine,” because the fact is that every Slavic nation save Belarus has pretty much rejected an alliance with Russia, both military and economic. Even the “little brother” Serbs are on the path to EU membership and may one day end up in NATO, opening up great opportunities for revenge by purposely doing a really shitty job in military exercises.

In more recent times, “brother peoples” has been used to refer to Russians, Belorussians, and Ukrainians, which historically at least makes a little more sense. That is until Maidan, when a certain Ukrainian poet told Moscow where they could stick their brotherhood with this poem called “We’ll never be brothers.” I apologize in advance for the shitty, ironically very Russian rock song that accompanies this video, but it was the only one I could find that has English subtitles:

https://youtu.be/d_sTAhZv_rI

Why did she choose those words? Well for those who weren’t able to see or hear initial Russian responses to Maidan, it basically went something like this:

“Why are you protesting to join Europe? We are BROTHER PEOPLES! We should unite against the Anglo-Americans! Come on, brothers! We won WWII for you when you were too busy collaborating with Bandera and the Nazis! We freed you from having to speak that awful, horrible, disgusting language that was invented by the Poles, Austrians, and Lenin! We gave you everything, the best parts of our empire, hydroelectric dams, we fed you for decades! Now you want to go and join Gayropa so all your kids will become gay and dance in gay parades every weekend? Go to hell, you American ass-kissing, worthless whores! Ukraine doesn’t exist! It was invented by Poland, Lenin, and Stalin while he was still Georgian. Winter’s coming! Your salo will be frozen! We have all the gas! HA HA HA!”

If you want to learn more, I covered this subject in depth in this post last year. If you don’t have the time, I’ll summarize. Basically, Russia acts like one of these “nice guys” who always talk about how wonderfully they would treat some woman, if only they would appreciate what a “gentleman” he is. He really has nothing else to offer a woman except common courtesy and streams of insincere compliments, all of which he hopes will get him sex. When women fail to swoon at the prospect of exchanging their bodies for doors being held open or free food, he inevitably goes into backlash mode, where he declares women to be stupid whores who are brainwashed into going after “stupid, jocular assholes.”

In our analogy, Russia is the neckbearded nice guy and Ukraine is the hot girl he obsesses over. Ukraine ends up choosing the good-looking, intelligent, mentally stable, charismatic, talented guys such as Europe and the USA instead of Russia, who is just so…nice.  Well except the fact is that like nice guys, Russia isn’t so nice. In fact, Russians were making fun of their Ukrainian “brothers” long before Maidan. The comic below, for example dates to somewhere between 2011 and 2013, while Russia’s man Yanukovych was in power:

Here we see that Russians were making fun of Ukraine’s gas woes long before Maidan, but this is not all. The memes we heard that came out during and after Maidan, about the Ukrainian language, the idea of Ukraine as an invented country and an invented nationality, etc. did not simply appear out of thin air in 2014. These were all more or less well-circulated ideas throughout Russia many years prior to Maidan. That Yanukovych had returned to power in 2010, ensured the Russian military presence in Sevastopol, and squashed the prospect of NATO membership mattered not.

Of course this is only the tip of the iceberg. Recently someone sent me this article on the travails of nearly 1.1 million Ukrainian citizens who fled to their “brother nation” Russia as a result of the war their “brothers” in the Kremlin started. It’s only in Russian but there’s nothing particularly surprising to me in it. In summer of 2013, again pre-Maidan, a student from Yalta told me that she “hates the Ukrainian language.” Poor thing, had to know another Slavic language that’s incredibly close to Russian. Wonder why all those other Slavic countries don’t seem interested in Pan-Slavism anymore! More recently, while Cyprus one of the people in my camping group was a bit vatniy. He claimed he knew what was going on in Ukraine because he worked with Ukrainians who fled to Russia from the war-torn regions. A bit later, however, he said that Ukrainians in Russia were extremely insolent and lazy. Just for the record, he seriously moderated his tone once he learned that there were three Ukrainians in our group, or as I reminded him, “three and a half.” Brothers, right? Hey it could be worse though, you could be a sister.

A good friend of mine will recall telling me a personal story from 2014 of a woman who fled Luhansk to take up residence in the concierge office of his apartment towers. This is not an incredibly uncommon thing, and in her case it could be rightly called an emergency measure. She never bothered anyone and basically worked on the premises. In spite of this, many residents circulated a petition to get her removed. Brotherly love right? That’s only the beginning. The woman recounted to my friend how some men in the building had offered her either money or shelter for sexual favors. Yeah. Classy.

Of course this isn’t limited to Ukrainians by any means. Russians express similar jokes and barbs against Belorussians, express outright hatred for Caucasians (except Ramzan Kadyrov, if they know what’s good for them), make patronizing and condescending comments about Tatars, and so on. Any expression of cultural pride or concern for one’s native language is interpreted as nationalism, while “good” minorities accept Russian cultural hegemony and tolerate displays of Russian nationalism and patriotism. If you’re American this should sound familiar to you; just replace “Russian” with “white people.”

The problem I’m getting at here isn’t so much with Russians but rather this imperialistic, patronizing idea of “brother people’s.” You’re only a “brother” if Moscow is the dominant, big brother in the relationship. They get to dictate your history and culture to you, and they also get to make jokes or condescending statements about your people as well. On the flip side, any criticism going the other way is at best, radical, divisive nationalism, and at worst- literal fascism.

Bottom line is this- the concept of “brother peoples” is absolute bullshit and there is nothing to be gained from being one. You’ll endure jokes and condescension for years until you get tired of it and lash out, and then you’ll be accused of whoring your country to the United States, because this is the only kind of relationship between countries that Moscow can imagine.

You know the funny thing about that poem, “We’ll never be brothers,” is that in reality Ukraine and Russia will always have strong ties. In spite of the war the two countries still engage in a lot of trade. Many Ukrainian citizens who support Kyiv are in fact ethnically Russian or mixed. Many Ukrainian soldiers and activists have relatives in Russia. As the sniper I met on the train back to Kyiv once told me, twice in fact: “I’m not fighting against Russia. I’m fighting for Ukraine.” Apt seeing as how he was ethnically Russian and born in Russia. Even my vatniy camping companion said he had relatives in Ukraine, though he insisted he knew better about what was going on in their own country better than they do. So with all these integral ties, could Ukrainians and Muscovite Russians ever be “brothers?” In the commonly understood Russian sense of the word? No, never. But as equals, on the basis of mutual respect? Perhaps.

Syria should have a nuclear missile dropped on its city of Raqqa. Since it is entirely occupied by ISIL, it's allies, supporters and captives.

Perfectly legal on their own territory and using a nuke in civil war sends a clear message that the rules have changed.

Not a lot different from the US nuclear attcks on Japan in 1945.

Russian-Saudi Rapprochement Back on Track

TND Guest Contributor: F. William Engdahl

After the unexpected June 2015 meeting between Russian president Vladimir Putin and Saudi Defense Minister and King’s son, Prince Mohammed Salman, I had suggested an historic geopolitical shift of the key Arab Gulf state oil producers away from Washington and towards a new working relationship with Russia might be underway. Three major events not evident in June appeared to have ended the nascent cooperation between the two Cold War foes. Then reality and pragmatism appear to have set the improving relation between two of the world’s largest oil producers back on track in the past days.

This already known in western military. i already gives that links a couple days ago. i don't know why the author not quoting the original source.

that torpedoes (underwater drones actually) first appear on this site.
http://freebeacon.com/national-security/russia-building-nuclear-armed-dr...

pentagon named it Project KANYON.

- - -

The first site to mention that "leaks"? is this site:
http://russianforces.org/blog/2015/11/is_russia_working_on_a_massive.shtml

Free Beacon give the credits to this site also. now that CONFIRMS, what pentagon intelligence have been following, about project kanyon.

- - -

As for whether it's true or not? this site has the most photo for project kanyon (use google translate to read).
http://militaryrussia.ru/blog/topic-746.html

Read the article from russian strategic forces above? now look at the photps on this site.
1. there's SAROV subs that despatch experimental status-6.

2. that is the big rescue ships. as per article.

3. and that is the special cranes to lift those massive torpedoes.

- - -

Now basically? Status-6 (or Kanyon). A torpedoes with masive amount of depleted uraniums surrounding a nuke warhead.

normally only a small amount of DU required as tamper shield (to maximize yields of strarter nukes. and to hold as long as possible the thermo nuclear fuels to fused. that will increase yields also).

in this bomb. the massive amount of DU was used to contaminates the surrounding blast area. making whoever still lives after the main blast? Died of radiations poisoning.

Refining Uraniums to weapons grades (seeking for U235 fissiable materials), left MASSIVE AMOUNTS of DU.

there are only 0.7% of U235 by weight. the rest is DU. if you assume, you need 5 kgs of this U235? Imagine how many DU left after you get what you want for your bomb? so, US and Russia has a lot of this DU.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enriched_uranium

- - -

now, as to why this torpedo can avoids detection?

1. the speed supposed to be 105 kms/h at depth of 1000 meters.

Most US/Russia subs can't get to depth more than 1500 feets!
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles-class_submarine

let alone the mark-48 torpedoes!! so how do you attack a torpedoes that faster than your subs and deeper than you can reach by torpedoes??

2. sea temps and salinity? provides a LENSING EFFECT (the same like you see bend pencil if you put it in a glassof water.) for ACOUSTIC PINGER of subs.

so, if you send ping signals to detect this torpedoes? your signal would be deflected by sea water, that those ping would not even reached those torpedoes deep in that waters.

so again? how do you detect this?

the sosus hydrophones that US installed along its sea? would be to late caused again, how do you neutralize a torpedoes that's faster than yours? And that's not counting the low cavitations blades that would be used on this torpedoes.

So, yeah. those USNI would have a headache trying to counter this Russian weapon. the only posible actions is just invoking MAD doctrine..

bye, bye DC, and USA for that matter.  When the moment comes, the U.S. will be nothing but a memory.  This massive destruction was prophecied 2,000 years a go and the absolute credibility of God's word can be seen in the prediction, because John the revelator could not have known the means by which the divine prediction could be fulfilled - we now know that only nuclear weapons could obliterate an entire civilization within one hour.  When credible reports say that the U.S. created ISIS and other such evil groups committing such atrocities, how can one not share Jefferson's anguish for America,  "I tremble for my country when I consider that God is just, that His justice will not sleep forever"?  Watch the video of the poor Jordanian pilot being burned alive in a cage, then tell me that, if the U.S. is behind ISIS, she is not in the midst of a national apostasy that will punished.

The author of the article says he does not believe the Russian's are serious about building any such systems.

And he also says - No, this was a deliberate way to remind the USA that if they really are hell-bent on spending billions of dollars in a futile quest to create some kind of anti-missile system Russia could easily develop a cheap weapon system to still threaten the USA with total annihilation.

Does the author even read himself?  He claims it is a cheap system that negates the anti missiles systems, current and future, of the US.  And yet he says Putin has not real interest in bulding it.  I will say if it is not already built then Putin really is trying to play checkers to their chess.  By the authors own evaluation, it is cheap and effective.  Only an idiot would not already have built it.

interesting you say that because Putin himself already said in a recent speech that Russia had already developed systems that could effectively overcome any ABMS. I think it was the deployment of such systems that was contingent on whether or not DC pursued full implementation of the ABMS in Europe and not their development...

If you recall, this isn't the first weapon warning of Putin.  I don't think anyone of us was aboard the USS Donald Cook when it was overflown, supposedly, by a plane with a Khibiny.  The navy poo-pooed it but we don't know what the new rules of engagement are when a ship spots a Russian plane.  The Russians haven't done it again.

A word to the wise is sufficient.

Now this "accidental" revelation about nuke carrying torpedoes.  We probably won't hear about them again, unless it's the actual blast.

Certainly since Snowden we've all come to know Vladimir Putin better.  Some of us appreciate him more than others.  He seems more concerned about Ivan Sixpack than Obama is about anything except rolling over for the neocons.

While he has exaggerated plenty about his role in Donbas, it doesn't compare to the lies of Nuland and the DoS about the beginnings of the Ukrainian coup.  Nor has the Dos ever said anything about their role in their failed rebellion in Syria.

I'm betting that Russia has those torpedoes, they're operational, and is building more 24/7.

And that some may have already been moved into position under cover, say, of the 5 PLA ships that sailed through the Bering Sea when Obama was in Alaska.

Shall a nation with three coasts build the same weapon as its enemy, a nation with one and a half coasts?

How long from drawing board to working product?

If things get nuclear, how much of an advantage is 11 time zones over 4?

And a population of 150,000,000 over one of 300,000,000?

No one here knows whether these torpedoes are still in development or whether they're part of Russia's arsenal.

If I were Putin I would not leak information about them unless I could use them.

The really strange part of all these battle games is that in the end they can't stop each other falling apart.  It happened to the USSR and will happen to every developed society when peak energy or other resource is reached.  The next may well be the USA with the death of the petro dollar.  how Russia behaves is as important as how the West did when the USSR fell apart.  The weapons are only mutal destruction and even then only work when your all play by the same book.  If I were Russia I'd start preemptive strikes not on USA but it's missle bases that are close.  They can't tell what will happen within the States if the dollar dies but sure as hell can stop the border bases before they build systems on their door step - hey it already happened with Cuba right?

Russia warning psychotic psychopaths that they should not be psychotic psychopaths appears to be insufficient social psychiatry. The background problem underneath everything else has been the history of successful warfare based upon deceits and treacheries, resulting in those who were the best at being dishonest and backing that up with violence ending up controlling civilization, with the Anglo-American (Zionist) Empire having led the ways towards developing rulings classes that became the MOST PSYCHOTIC PSYCHOPATHS.

How Russia outfoxes its enemies

"All human history can be portrayed as the history of deception."

-- Alexander Vladimirov

The basic problem that confronts Neolithic Civilization is the EXCESSIVE SUCCESSFULNESS of civilization being controlled by applications of the principles and methods of organized crime becoming RUNAWAY CRIMINAL INSANITIES!

The Saker's article republished above on Zero Hedge stated:

The sad thing is that US analysts all fully understand that but they have no say in a fantastically corrupt Pentagon.  The real purpose of the US program is not to protect anybody against a non-existing Russian threat, but to dole out billions of dollars to US corporations and their shareholders.

The same problem was reviewed in this article:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-11-11/martin-armstrong-warns-it-may-be-too-late

Martin Armstrong Warns "It May Be Too Late"

"We need to rethink the structure of government, but it may be simply too late."

Both of those are obviously correct statements. A major reason why the second statement is correct is that "to rethink the structure of government" would take far more profound paradigm shifts than people are generally able and willing to consider. Rather, one of the most ironically correct statements republished Zero Hedge was expressed by Cognitive Dissonance:

"The absolute best controlled opposition is one that doesn't know they are controlled."

Although "we need to rethink the structure of government," pretty well everyone who recommends that continues to be "controlled opposition." The deeper reasons for how and why America is actually dominated by a Deep State Shadow Government tend to never be thought through sufficiently by sufficient people. Rather, the established systems can count on being able to fool enough of the people, enough of the time, to continue to have political puppets voted for by muppets, in order to keep going the established systems of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS. Within that context, the Deep State Shadow Government's best organized gangsters are more the banksters than the Military Industrial Complex.

Although the relationships between mercenaries and the people that pay them are quite hyper-complicated feedback loops, which should not be over-simplified, in order to discuss those matters it is nevertheless necessary to tend to over-simplify the social situations that have developed where the accountants are controlling the killers. The deeper levels of the paradigm shifts which are required "to rethink the structure of governments" concern the relationships between artificial selection systems, within natural selection systems, and particularly the ways how natural selection pressures drove the development of artificial selection systems that operate through the maximum possible frauds and deceits.

The degree to which we are living inside of Wonderland Matrix Bizarro Worlds, where everything tends to be perceived by everyone in the most absurdly backwards ways, are the deeper reasons for how and why it surely does appear that "it may be simply too late" for human beings and civilization to change to adapt to the development of globalized electronic frauds, backed by the threat of force from atomic bombs. Given that is the context, I do not expect the controlled opposition to the established combined money/murder systems to be able and willing to assimilate what prodigious progress has been made in physical science, such as through quantum mechanics and the special theory of relativity, in order to make it possible for the previously existing systems of paper frauds backed by gunpowder weapons to become electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs. In order to come to terms with the profound paradigm shifts already achieved in physical science, in ways which could be applied to political science, demands creative syntheses of post-modernizing science with ancient mysticism, because the most important revelations are that we thought about time and space in absurdly backward ways.

That was always built into the structure of the dominate natural languages, and was also incorporated into the dominate philosophy of science. Therefore, our civilization is almost totally dominated by professional hypocrites, who perceive and discuss everything through using the dualities of false fundamental dichotomies and the related impossible ideals. That way of thinking is what the various forms of "controlled opposition" continue to do, despite that way of thinking originally being developed as the biggest bullies' bullshit, because it enabled them to become better professional liars and immaculate hypocrites.

The upshot of the social situation is that governments have become the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, i.e., there is a Deep State Shadow Government controlling their political puppets, for whom enough of the masses of muppets will vote. However, the mostly still "controlled opposition" to that tends to continue to promote bogus "solutions," that stay within the same frame of reference of taking for granted absurdly backward bullshit ways of perceiving and discussing those political problems.

Those political problems are getting worse, faster, at exponential rates, due to prodigious progress in physical science enabling technologies to be primarily employed by an oxymoronic scientific dictatorship, whose goals are to get better at backing up lies with violence. Within that overall context, it certainly does look like "it may be simply too late" to sufficiently change to adapt to the existence of globalized systems of electronic frauds backed by atomic bombs ...

To sufficiently "rethink the structure of government" requires developing understanding human beings and civilization operating as entropic pumps of environmental energy flows, which in turn requires assimilating radical transformations in the ways that we think about time and space, which amount to reversing the ways that we think about the concept of entropy. During the history of science, the philosophy of science was again and again forced to compromise with the biggest bullies' bullshit world views. One of the ways that happened was that arbitrary minus signs were inserted into the entropy equations of thermodynamics and information theory. That became one of the most abstract and sublime ways that we ended up living in Wonderland Matrix Bizarro Worlds.

Since it is mostly various reactionary revolutionaries promoting views that "we need to rethink the structure of government," who ONLY do so on the most superficial levels, where they mostly continue to keep their beliefs in thinking using DUALITIES, based upon false fundamental dichotomies and the related impossible ideals, rather than start to use more UNITARY MECHANISMS, it indeed appears to be way "too late" for human beings and civilization to change to adapt to profound paradigm shifts in physical science enabling technologies to become trillions of times more capable and powerful than ever before in human history.

The basic systems were the American Dollar backed by the American Military (including police enforcing taxation, etc.), while the public money system became about 99% privatized, and the public murder system has become roughly about 75% privatized. Those percentages indicate the degree to which the Deep State Shadow Government controls America. Those percentages also indicate the degree to which "We the People" have become Zombie Sheeple. For generation after generation, "We the People" have been scientifically conditioned to feel like they do not want to understand what is really happening, and therefore, they have become the masses of manipulated muppets, that more and more act like incompetent political idiots. At the same time, there were less and less effective opposition groups. Rather, the masses of muppets, or mainstream morons, would more and more be presented with no real choices but various political puppets. Moreover, that went very deep!

Practically all of the content published on Zero Hedge tends to be the work of reactionary revolutionaries, who provide correct superficial analysis of what has gone wrong. However, there is pretty well never presented any sufficiently deeper analysis. Indeed, given the degree to which politics continues to be dominated by old-fashioned religions and ideologies, which adamantly refuse to up-date their metaphysics to adapt to the prodigious progress through profound paradigm shifts in physical science, there are growing wider and WIDER Grand Canyon Chasms within a civilization which has developed globalized electronic monkey money frauds, backed by the threat of force from apes with atomic bombs.

While I AGREE

"we need to rethink the structure of government,"

doing so sufficiently has to try to come to terms with the exponential growth of electronic frauds, backed by atomic bombs. The previously developed systems of debt slavery, based upon paper frauds, backed by gunpowder weapons, have generated numbers which were magnified by many orders of magnitude, to become debt insanities. Those have NO good resolutions within the established debt slavery systems. Rather, since the debt controls are backed by the death controls, we are headed towards provoking death insanities, and therefore, it certainly does look like "It May Be Too Late."

To use more unitary mechanisms, rather than the same old dualities, to respond to the ways that there is a runaway fascist plutocracy juggernaut, being directed by Deep State Shadow Governments, is to face the facts that not only is the government the biggest form of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, but also, that must necessarily be the case. The only realistic resolutions to the real problems demand the development of better organized crime, in order to operate better death control systems, to back up better debt control systems.

The fundamentally fraudulent financial accounting systems that are controlling everything civilization now does, through the vicious spirals of POLITICAL FUNDING ENFORCING FRAUDS, should be retooled, due to perceiving those political problems in radically different ways. Human beings and civilization never actually violated any laws of nature. However, human laws were always based upon being able to back up lies with violence, because the ONLY connections between human laws and natural laws have been the ability to back up lies with violence. Since money is a human symbol, which is a matter of law, our monetary systems became based upon governments ENFORCING FRAUDS by privately controlled banks.

After "We the People" lost control over the public "money" systems, everything automatically got worse, faster, as the best organized gangsters, the banksters, were able to more and more invest their profits from frauds in more frauds, throughout every facet of every sociopolitical institution. That has included the degree to which the privatization of the public murder systems have been catching up to the privatization of the public money systems, in the forms of runaway fascist police state powers, to serve and protect the oligarchs operating the runaway fascist plutocracy juggernaut, where the main source of "wealth" of those plutocrats was to be able to create the public "money" supply out of nothing as debts, which were FRAUDS ENFORCED by governments fronted by political puppets, voted for by muppets ... going around and around in vicious, self-amplifying spirals of increasingly crazy corruptions.

Tragically, the only realistic ways to change the real combined money/murder systems appear to be for the runaway debt insanities to provoke death insanities, within which context it MIGHT become possible to "rethink the structure of government." However, it certainly does look like it is already way "too late" to resolve those political problems in any other ways ... The BIG PICTURE continues to be progress in physical science, based upon series of profound paradigm shifts, without that being matched and surpassed by progress in political science, because no profound paradigm shifts were allowed by the professional hypocrites that dominate all of the currently established sociopolitical systems. Rather, the most successful political puppets continue to be the best available professional hypocrites, who are approved of by enough of the masses of muppets, who all want to continue to think using the dualities of false fundamental dichotomies, and promote bogus "solutions" based upon impossible ideals.

Indeed, in my view, pretty well everyone who is republished on Zero Hedge, operates in that way, presenting superficially correct analysis, which then always collapses back to the same old-fashioned bullshit "solutions." There is never presented any deeper analysis, which then is followed by genuine solutions to those political problems which are consistent with that deeper analysis. (Of course, that makes terrible sense, since the vast majority of potential readers are also stuck within thinking about everything using the same old-fashioned dualities, and so, could barely be communicated with in any ways which were based upon more unitary mechanisms.)

Progress in politics is NOT POSSIBLE without profound paradigm shifts, that surpass those which have already been achieved in physical science. Theoretically, since globalized systems of electronic frauds, backed by the force of atomic bombs, already exist, it OUGHT to be imperative that political science becomes radically transformed by going through series of profound paradigm shifts, which incorporate and surpass those paradigm shifts which have already been achieved in physical science.

Since there is only one energy, there is only one political system, and that necessarily matches the principles and methods of organized crime, because central to governments are their death controls. All other political labels and terms tend to be based upon false fundamental dichotomies, whose apparent ulterior purposes were that promoting the impossible ideals based upon those false fundamental dichotomies actually made the opposite happen in the real world, which appears to have been the hidden goal behind the biggest bullies' promoting that kind of bullshit, which morphed to become the banksters and their buddies promoting totally bullshit-based views about how the political economy operates.

The democratic republic, operating through the rule of law, was supposed to provide checks and balances to the ways that governments are the biggest forms of organized crime. However, what has actually happened is that the best organized gangsters, the banksters, and their buddies in the big corporations, such as the Military Industrial Complex, etc., have been able to capture control over the powers of government, and thereby effectively privatized those public powers. While, at the same time, more and more of "We the People" were deliberately reduced to becoming bullshit consumers, rather than competent citizens.

Given the degree to which way too many Americans have already become Zombie Sheeple, who were being fleeced to exhaustion, while they were being set up to be slaughtered, it looks "too late" to stop that now ... Indeed, there do not appear to be any politically practical ways to either prevent nor prepare for debt insanities reaching astronomically amplified sizes provoking death insanities of similar orders of magnitude.

IF a technologically based civilization is going to survive, then its philosophy of science is its most important concern. However, that issue raises AGAIN the points I have made above, that natural selection pressures were internalized as human intelligence, which then was applied to develop artificial selection systems, whose social successfulness became based upon the maximum possible deceits and frauds. The general relationship of those artificial selection systems, within their natural selection context, has become extreme forms of Wonderland Matrix Bizarro Worlds.

Governments are necessarily the biggest forms of organized crime, necessarily operating their death controls. Citizens are members of that organized crime gang, called their country, while their governments are basically military organizations, which were the development of organized crime on larger and larger scales. However, most Americans have already been totally brainwashed to believe in bullshit about all of that, which has allowed and driven the checks and balances in a democratic republic operating through the rule of law to be mostly destroyed, and effectively inverted.

As above, so below. As within, so without. On every level the lies are different, by their overall fractal patterns remain the same throughout both domestic and foreign affairs, that the people who were the best organized gangs of criminals controlled governments, which have been driven by exponential progress in physical science and technology to become RUNAWAY CRIMINAL INSANITIES! Everywhere one looks, there is increasingly crazy corruption, which has become so blatantly obvious that there have been these building heads of steam, inside of political pressure cookers whose safety values have been welded shut:

That was like reading Kant through a straw.

You should read "the user illusion" - entropy in the Information Theory sense.

i think youd love it is what I mean.

In short, the money system, dogmatic religion, and controlled media are problems arising from nonconscious cognition. Understanding consciousness itself is likely vital if not a panacea.

More practically and short term, pj orourke was right when he said we shouldnt be testing public officials for drugs but for greed, stupidity and love of power.

Even more practically, there needs to be people in the power superstructure willing to be first over the hill in terms of arresting traitors.

And it is only when you have nothing to lose, that you are truly free.

A) Have either of you asked for permission to use our airspace for military purposes?

B) Have either of you performed an Environmental Impact Study to assess the possible negative effects to the environment in Canada?

Re building 7, I shall be junked back to the stone age for this but:

http://www.debunking911.com/WTC7.htm

I seem to be the only one around here who believes that

1) 9/11 was an inside and mossad job AND
2) the planes, fuel, and very possibly disabling fire suppression since mossad 'movers' were in the building for absolute sure --- were completely capable of engendering structural failure in that structure, which had a 'shell' handling 30% of load which was obviously seriously damaged, and thermal expansion not melting from uncontrolled fires caused more fracturing - plainly visible in video - and when damage to a couple floors from the plane and most intense heat caused a floor or two to collapse, the energy it had, given the decreased load capacity was enough given the weight sbove it to collapse weakened portions below.

I know, I know - but heres the thing. Most structural engineers agree with me and the physics is basic. Its a materials science issue

But - say Im wrong. Ok.

But building 7 had way, way more structural damage thsn you likely know. Check the link and youtube then tell me Im not right on that discrete point.

Pull it - get firemen out
Early collapse report - existing fears of collapse misreported ir misunderstood in the confusion - *insane* confusion - as having already collapsed which was then regurgitated by multiple outlets.

Its a nuclear torpedo to destroy shipping ports and entire fleets.

Smart, to take out a Nuclear Submarine with a payload of 20+ ICBMS all you need is a general idea of their location and one of these warheads can take it out.

1 Nuclear Warhead to takeout 20+ICBMS is a pretty good trade-off.

Certainly Russia cant detect exactly where a U.S. Nuclear sub is, but they probably can get a good enough idea where it is that it will be in the blast range of one of these torpedos.

Nuclear torpedo pretty much counters all naval forces I mean... even if you have anti-torpedo countermeasures.... by the time you stop it its already in range to snap your hull in half.

Imagine the chaos if one of these was let-off the chain off the coast of Texas right now where you have tons of oil super tankers waiting in queue to dump their load.

I had an awesome dream last night. …

Ashton was running his mouth and saber rattling again and Putin got tired of the threats and pulled a preemptive strike leveling DC with one surprise sub-launched 12 megatoner. I suppose he reasoned that if an Arab or two can hijack a huge airliner and fly around for a hour or so before plunging into the side of the Pentagon in broad daylight he could slip a supersonic cruse missile over Carter’s house in a predawn punkass maneuver with little difficulty.

Wolfy came up on CNN and said that our field military had sent Vladimir a brief ‘Thank You’ text and promptly sued for peace by way of secure mil com channels which Putin, in his infinite wisdom, promptly accepted.

Inside the beltway was declared a no-go dead zone a la Chernobyl. A monument was put up that said the site would stand as a memorial to “Greedy, Stupid, Murderous, Control Freak Psychopaths Through-Out Human History” and everyone outside the blast and fallout zone moved another thirty miles out, opened B & Bs and lived happily ever after catering to the lead lined bus tour sightseeing crowd. Radiation was a bit of a local problem but manageable.

A board of state governors was assembled in Philly and declared what was left of the ‘continuum of government’ Bozos null and void and planned for new elections in a year’s time. Of course there were plenty of greedy psychopaths left in NYC and Chicago but without a central planning head and an obedient enforcement body they scattered to hideouts around the globe fearing reprisal from the awaked farmers, carpenters, sporting goods store clerks and those living on a fixed income.

The Voice, The Talk and House were all canceled for the season due to urgent national business to attend to…………and then I woke up.

I giggled like a schoolgirl all the way through breakfast.

I really shouldn’t have felt so good about a million and a half dead GSA workers (even if only ‘dream beings’) as I’m sure there were a few hundred innocent tourists lined up on the mall waiting for the Smithsonian to open at the time of the huge cauterizing fireball.

Good question.  I am Merican and my wife of 11 years is Russian.  We argue sometimes but not about crap like this.  We have no interest in killing each other and we resolve our differences peaceably.  What good would it do to kill each other?  I just have to say that I actually get along with people from other cultures better than I with my own countrymen.  Perhaps it is that Mericans are self absorbed arrogant pricks who try to sell a $60000 cars to the Millennials who have $60000 in student loan debt.  I see that everyday and you can't hide from it.  It just won't work.

The problem is the central banks and the U.S.'s propensity for war.  I don't see anyone invading our shores because then I would fight but that is not what is happening.  The enemy is ourselves.  I am not sure what any of you see but I see it clearly.  They will dry us of purchasing power via taxes and inflation and they will reap the rewards.  I think this happens in a lot countries but it is not my place to say so.  My place to say so is here, and I have, and I lost a very good paying job because I questioned U.S. government authority via Ron Paul campaigns.

I do not know what to tell you folks.  I really wish I knew the answer but I don't.  I actually do know the answer and I won't say what it is because... well you have either figured it out by now or you never will.  No one wants that answer.

We don't need to fight the Russians and I won't participate.  We do not not need to be in Syria either.  Our politicians have gone full retard.

DARPA create a stand-alone 40-meter ship to track submarines and missile. Now the 140-ton drone is almost ready for use, and its trial run will take place in January and February 2016.

All the "iron" autonomous spacecraft, called ACTUV (Anti-Submarine Warfare Continous Trail Unmanned Vessel - Antisubmarine military unmanned vessel continuous monitoring) is ready for use, the engineers now dealt with software, which enables ACTUV stay at sea for months.
The main objective of ACTUV - is hunting down submarines and tracking long amount of time. Scott Littlefield, director of tactical technology DARPA, said that the main advantage ACTUV is that the cost of operating a fully autonomous vessel will be about 15-20 thousand dollars a day, while the destroyer crew takes an average of 700 thousand dollars a day. He also said that the Navy is considering the use ACTUV in other areas, such as the search for sea mines.

russia ain't building this shit..much cheaper ways to get a nuke on target..obvious dis info to get usa to spend to defend this ..most likely this info  put out by bribes from MIC in ol usa.

no need to hit yellow stone or canary island tsunami..there is no defense for current tech..old bombers old rockets old subs would all work.which is not a good thing btw. emp attack also no effort to harden electric  grids unless you think the elite have emp proof cars planes and communications ..we live in a world run by idiots, greedy power mad idiots..mundane atomic weapons of the last century will be more than enough to kill us all.

As a veteran, I will uphold my oath, fight and risk my life as necessary, to defend our community, our county and the State of Tennessee.

My support no longer includes the corrupt crony cesspool of DC.

It is better to die an honorable death by firing squad at Leavenworth than to murder innocent non-combatants in the name of bringing them “freedom” and “democracy”.

Friday Double Feature

Okay so two things. One story floating around the news lately is a supposed “leak” of plans for a top secret nuclear torpedo that is essentially a type of “dirty bomb.” You’ve probably heard the term dirty bomb plenty of times before, but in case you never bothered to look it up (you’re not missing much), it’s basically a speculative weapon designed to contaminate an area with radiation and thus deny it to the enemy. Naturally, The Daily Beast decided to take the alarmist route when reporting on the story.

The headline says “Russia’s got a dirty bomb.” Well no, not according to this story they don’t. What they have is a nice little cartoon picture of some kind of nuclear torpedo which could be likened to a dirty bomb, but I don’t see any photos or footage of this actual device. Ergo we can only confirm that they have: 1. High quality paper 2. Graphic designers.

Honestly I think this “leak” was planned. Make no mistake, Russia is run by idiots who think five minutes into the future, but they’re not idiots in every sphere. They’re really great at laundering money, for example. They’re also very good at keeping secrets, except when they’re constantly running snap drills around the Baltic region and engaging in pointless foreign military adventures which basically leak their entire doctrine. But seriously, they’re pretty good at keeping secrets. You might have heard that in 2014 and 2015, even more Russian government officials were forbidden to travel abroad by their own government. While the number of people banned from foreign travel increased significantly, this isn’t really a new thing. In the past I taught students who were banned from traveling abroad due to the nature of their work, in one case simply being a student at some kind of institute that was connected to the defense industry.

Therefore, I believe the most likely explanation is that this was purposely leaked for the sake of Russian TV. On one hand, it might have been intended to provoke some kind of overreaction, which outlets like The Daily Beast dutifully provided, but on the other I think this was most likely aimed primarily at the domestic, vatniy audience. Russian “news” is always reassuring them that their country is a great superpower armed with nukes, and that it can reduce other nations, primarily the USA, to “radioactive ash.” Vatniks watch this nuke porn and start fapping furiously. Curiously, it is not clear whether the target demographic for this news understands that any nuclear attack on the US will result in a multinational nuclear counter-strike on Russia that will quite literally relegate Russia as a nation to the history books, along with their icons, their flats with carpet-covered walls, and their bottles of Putinka brand vodka. After all, the population of the US is over twice that of Russia, there’s better infrastructure, and though it is smaller, far more of the US is habitable than Russia. Of course we all know Russia will never nuke the US because that’s where many of the Russian elite’s kids are living.

Apparently someone needs to translate this video into Russian so they will learn:

https://youtu.be/nZMwKPmsbWE

I’m out of touch with US news, but I can’t imagine that comparisons of Russian and American nuclear arsenals are a common topic on the evening national news, even these days.

And as for The Daily Beast and the prospect of improvement for its Russia coverage? Well…No. Best quote from that ridiculous article?

“They’re saying we’re ISIS although we live in the midst of Free Syrian Army and al-Nusra areas and amid revolutionary factions, most factions work with us and support us,” Majd said.”

Hey Majd, fire your PR guy.

In other news, I follow Snowden on Twitter (he never did respond to my invitation for a beer), and a couple days ago he was tweeting about a US court’s decision regarding the NSA’s metadata collection program. Yesterday, I found an article on the subject from the Putin cheerleaders at Zero Hedge. Based on their account, DC District Court Judge Richard Leon slammed the government over the unconstitutionality of its domestic spying program.

This is by no means the first victory in the struggle to restore civil rights which had been eroded thanks to 9/11 and the subsequent passage of the Patriot Act. This year, several key provisions of the act expired. Among the provisions set to expire was the NSA’s bulk data collection program.

So there you go. Snowden won. Thousands, maybe millions of American activists, and I mean real activists, the ones who actually study the laws and what they can do to change them, won. And yet while Zero Hedge is celebrating this vindication, I wonder if the irony isn’t lost on them. After all, when would we see such an independent court ruling in Russia, that great rising superpower? Would we ever see a Russian judge slam the law on “offending the feelings of believers,” seeing how it’s a clear violation of the Russian constitution? Nope. Maybe a decision restricting the powers of media watchdog Roskomnadzor on the same grounds? Nope.

What we have here is an example of extremely unpopular laws being overturned thanks to years of activism, free and open debate, investigation by independent media, and yet America’s the totalitarian dictatorship ruled by “banksters” while Russia is the valiant land of freedom from Anglo-American hegemony. Sure. And to be fair, I’m not saying anyone at Zero Hedge actually makes that argument, but there are people out there who basically do all the time.

What we witnessed with the expiration of those provisions and the court’s decision about the NSA’s unconstitutional program is an example of the system actually working. It may be flawed as hell, but it still works so long as there’s something called rule of law and people have the freedom to organize and express their dissent freely. Hell, we might have seen this happen years ago if it weren’t for so many potential activists deciding to bury their heads in 9/11 Truther propaganda and GMO conspiracy theories instead of learning how to write to their damned congressional representative or helping organizations like the ACLU, a long time opponent of Patriot Act provisions. In Russia, this bastion of “freedom” for the angry middle aged white male who’s too fucking lazy to do any of that, you don’t have a free press and you don’t have rule of law. You have rule of the midget. What the midget wants, the midget gets.

As I keep saying again and again, you can find virtually no end to the flaws and problems in American “democracy” and its society. Ditto for the countries of Europe as well. But when people are allowed the tools to fix those problems, eventually they will. Sometimes it’s solved by an election that throws a ruling party out, other times it takes a virtual revolution, but it happens, and it works. Meanwhile we’ve seen the results of handing one’s freedom over to a thief who promises “stability” (and fails to deliver). At times, the difference seems small, and perhaps it is in fact small. But in politics, small differences lead to vastly different results. And if the Tyler Durdens of Zero Hedge disagree, perhaps they should come to Russia and start lobbying against Russia’s domestic spying program, known as SORM, its internet blacklist, and its data localization laws.

All this isn’t to say Americans should shut up about their government and be happy with it. That would make this whole topic an American version of whataboutery. On the contrary- learn what problems America actually has (HINT: if Trump is talking about it, it’s probably not a real problem), and go out and do something about it. Don’t sit on forums or social networks grumbling about it and sharing bogus infographics. Don’t become a cheerleader for Russia just because the “mainstream media” is criticizing it. Go use what freedoms you still have and improve your society while you still can. Yes, it’s hard work. Yes, you might have to work with people who disagree with you and don’t fully subscribe to your one-off, custom-made personal ideology that mixes Anarcho-primitivism with Maoist Third World feminism. Yes, it will take a long time and you might not get exactly what you want at first, but if you keep at it and keep bringing more people to the cause, you will probably succeed.

{I'm posting this here also in case you missed it.}

@ LEA,

It must be made clear to the Americans that we will not put up with their shit, even if it is at the cost of our own lives. That is the only attitude that is afforded us humans as regards the abominable Americans.

(And there is no difference between the American government and the American people. America is a democracy, remember? And Americans always vote for Republicans or Democrats knowing full well how evil they both are. Therefore, Americans in their majority are evil. This judgment is corroborated by my personal dealings with Americans.)

Fuck the Americans.
