The French Campaign Begins: Hollande Launches "Massive Bombardment" Of ISIS Capital

Tyler Durden's picture

Moments ago, reports began to surface on social media that the ISIS "capital" of Raqqa was under siege from the sky.

It wasn't hard to guess whose planes were carrying out the strikes. As we noted ten days ago, in a statement by the French presidency following a meeting of its defense cabinet, the government said it would send its only aircraft carrier, the Charles de Gaulle warship, to the eastern Mediterranean for operations against Isis in both Syria and Iraq. And as you might imagine, that's not the only place Paris has warplanes stationed in the region.

Just yesterday we said that with the only French aircraft carrier already en route to Syria, meant to support to mission against Assad ISIS, France is oddly prepared for an all out attack to take out the Syrian president. Most importantly, it now has the outraged, incensed public's blessing to do just that.

Sure enough, we just got confirmation that France, with the help of US intelligence, has commenced a "major" bombing campaign against Raqqa.

And so it begins.

From WSj, earlier today:

The U.S. is expanding intelligence sharing with France and has agreed to speed the delivery of detailed targeting information in support of possible French retaliatory strikes against Islamic State militants in Syria and Iraq, officials said.

In response to Friday’s coordinated terrorist attacks in Paris, the U.S. has started sharing so-called “targeting packages” with France, identifying Islamic State targets for strikes by French warplanes. It also plans to roll back restrictions that impede intelligence sharing to make it easier for France to intensify its air campaign.

Officials said the changes amount to giving France a seat at the table alongside America’s most-trusted intelligence-sharing partners in developing future target packages for strikes against Islamic State.

France has fighter aircraft positioned at bases in the region, in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, which could be used in any retaliatory strikes against Islamic State in Syria and Iraq once targets have been identified.

Of course the US has supposedly been "bombarding" Raqqa and other ISIS strongholds for more than year, to little effect. It's not exactly like Raqqa is the Japanese mainland ca. World War II. As we noted earlier today, we're no West Point graduates, but it seems likely that a relatively small ground contingent could take the city with the help of the Kurds in relatively short order (see the recent experience with Sinjar):

And it's not like the US or the French have to worry about running into the Russians in the course of providing air cover. After all, Russia has for now pretty much conceded that airspace to the US while Moscow and Tehran restore Assad's power base in the West. Just take a look at the Russian airstrike map (it's not up to the minute, but you get the idea):

So now that the French airstrikes have officially begun, the next question is whether the attacks in Paris are enough to get the public behind sending in the ground troops to finally end this ridiculous charade and take Raqqa once and for all.

Of course that blows the whole anti-Assad gambit wide open. That is, once Raqqa falls and ISIS retreats into Iraq, what then? Then you'll have the French in the east and the Russians and Iranians in the west, and by then, Russia and Iran will have probably taken Aleppo so everyone will be just be staring at each other with Assad looking nervously back and forth in the middle.

At that point, it's either NATO versus Russia and Iran for the political future of Syria, or someone packs up and leaves and then the suits reconvene in Vienna. And given that Russia has an airbase at Latakia and a naval base at Tartus, and given that NATO would have to pry Damascus out the Ayatollah's cold dead hands, we think we know who may blink first...

The French dropped 20 bombs, which hardly constitues a "Massive Bombardment" though the western media have certainly portrayed it as such.

It remains to be seen if they did anything useful other than provoke ISIS.

I think we all knew there was a response coming to counter Putin's success. This was it. Imagine, who would have guessed it would result in the most ridiculous outcome of french jets bombing something. The french? they have an air force?

Like another poster noted, it is sickening to see once again a false flag op, where there is no positive confirmation any of it was real, but even assuming it was, they haul off and start the mass killings of tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, *without any investigation of the crime the bombing is based upon*.

Of course, an investigation is out of the question. At least a credible one. We all know where that will lead, full circle back to those who drop the bombs. The USA, CIA, Mossad, and whatever genitle accomplices that are on board for their respective 30 pieces of silver have either used real perps, or staged them, or at the very least are quick to take advantage to get back into Syria - to get 'back on track' to destroy Assad's government.

How ironic. Assad has committed no crime. He is a legitimately elected leader. What is the deal with foreign nations showing up, wholly owned subsidiaries of israel and jews to bomb them into oblivion? Yet, the governments that are awash with crimes against humanity, YOUR government, dear western reader, escape without a scratch. YOUR evil government receives no reprisals. Imagine how YOU would feel if these ppl from the ME who have been on the wrong side of all this for so long figured out how to get revenge and started bombing your little town ...

Ah, but then, how would you feel if they picked a different city, and you woke up one day and the US federal government no longer existed? Would you call them terrorists, or accidental liberators? Would you outwardly shake your fist at these evil warriors from the east while secretly thanking God that the Beast has been destroyed?

If all they did was that and stopped there and went home, well, there you go. But if any invader took one step further into my country, then I fight back, and go all out to repel the invasion.

It is very confusing to live in a country where your government has been controlled by jews, and is a satanic operation. No single american should put up with it any longer. Send my sons to die in a war for a satanic jewish agenda? Really? is this what they expect? That I should give them one drop of the sweat of my labor to support their existence? Really? They expect that, do they?

To the Beast, I am just some random, disenfranchised loser. I don't care. I am a highly educated American, with good character, a squeaky clean paper trail, a beautiful family, very deep pockets, extremely successful in business and  the markets, and am 7 generations deep in my American roots. Disenfranchised? Yes. Loser? I don't think so.

In other words, the quality of the opposition to the American government is rising very fast. Once it starts to hit the multimillionaires and billionaires and then the generals and ppl in the military that they are being used for a satanic jewish agenda that is no use or benefit to them, perhaps we shall see the tide turn in our favor.

This sort of thing doesn't happen overnight. It is so obvious what the source of the evil is in the world, it is amazing how so many ppl miss it. But it wont oast forever. The counter-revolution will come out in top soon enough. I just hope i see it in my lifetime. If I knew all of this when I was younger, I never would have had kids. I regret bringing them into this shitty world, and I hope they will forgive me for doing so.

Sadly, Americans are easily manipulated cowards.  White males cheer on Trayvon thugs and Jameis FSU rapists now pro quarterbacks.  They cheer on white genocide like little girls.

The biggest military the world has ever known and they are a joke as the borders are wide open and everyone worries about their pension.

If you are well off you better get prepared because it is all going to shit because the morosn will believe anything TV and Hollywood tells them,  If you watch TV or Hollywood then YOU support it all.

The Paris attacks were a professional "Operation Gladio" type operation designed by the same deep state organizations that created ISIS in the first place.

The reason is simple. NATO cannot allow a coalition of Syria, Russia, Iran and Lebanon to defeat ISIS and keep Assad in power. Hence the 20 bombs dropped on Raqqa by French planes today. No doubt that all the important assets and mercenaries have already been evacuated to their home countries, so this ISIS mop-up operation should be quick and relatively painless.

Or perhaps they are just destroying the evidence.

Is Putin the modern uncrowned John Wayne?  John Wayne was always pulling something out of his ass at the last moment.  Can we reincarnate the Duke with some kind of chemical reaction (or make Putin watch 60 or 70 of the Duke's movies)  and get this toilet cleaned up over there?  Maybe Obama can do a cosmic transcontinental mind (anal)  probe and tell CNN what's happin' now in his pet project and get us all squared away so we concentrate on paying our taxes.  European and Africans have run this country far into the ground.  When Arnie had to go to France to get Baron Rothschild's permission to run for governor.....don't that say it all?  How about a Native American running things for awhile.....they couldn't possibly do any worse than what has been done since 1776.

My father had a headlock on Hitler in ww11.  It was raining hard that night and the boys took to celebrating.  Hitler must have crawled off during the drunken self abuse that occurred.  They found his tracks in the mud the next morning when they sobered up.  By today's standards my father should have been a shoo in for president for at least 6 terms when he got back to paradise.  I am so sick of the "news" I could puke.  Fox is 1/2 owned by the Saudis so the idea that it's conservative is nuts.

Very funny article on telegraph.co.uk , evidently, suddenly it is the West trying to persuade Putin that terrorists are bad and need to be destroyed.

Putin of course has been trying to persuade the West to take terrorist groups seriously for years and to stop supplying them with arms and cash.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/11997551/Cameron-and-Obama-urge-Putin-to...

Amusing quotes from article:

'persuading President Putin to work with Western countries to defeat Isil was a “number one priority”.'

'Justine Greening, the International Development Secretary, warned that time is "running out" for the people of Syria who have been "let down" by the international community.'

"let Down", that is one way of putting it when your government backs terrorist groups in order to remove a government resulting in hundreds of thousands of woman and children dead or displaced, not that Assad is not a piece of crap, we know he is, but our own politicians have killed far more people than Assad ever could.

Massive bombing of a country that has fixed emplacements can work decently. For a purported enemy like ISIS, who are quite mobile, all massive bombing will do is

Create more terrorists

Eventually cause an international incident between NATO and Russia.

This is fucked up. Massive, measured retalitation, would have been to follow Marine Le Pen's plan and to take every "Infiltrator" in Europe, put their ass on a plane, and send them back to their country of origin (how fucking suprised would all those holders of doctored Syrian passports be.)

Bombing Raqqa is literally throwing massive money down the toilet. It's already in the stone age. For the amount of this campaign they could have implemented Marine's plan, but Hollande lacks the political will to do what is correct and required on the home front.

If France invokes Article 5 of NATO I guess it will be GAME ON - Putin will have a choice to go along or defy NATO which would be the kick off to WWIII. Hence, I am sure President Putin is being very thoughtful about this game of chess.

  • Tell them to stop training and arming terrorist groups to do their dirty work.

The nasty truth is that the neo-con Warmongers Oligarchs absolutely love all this terrorism, wars and chaos - it means hundreds of billions of profits in their pockets, at no risk to themselves.

Come on USA, Israel, Turkey, Saudi Arabia.... the game is up - 'Flase Flags' are no longer just considered conspiracy theories. Now the first question that is asked - 'who benefits?'

So, as ISIS and Al Qaeda designations are interchangeable (it's not like they have to change uniforms or methods or facial expressions, they're all trained by the same CIA and Special Forces and all get the same supplies and equipment from the same sources), ISIS just gets upscale media for effect.  All the ISIS mercenaries will all be cleansed by magically renaming them Al Qaeda and they will head on to other Syrian villages to murder other civilians as before, but now with air cover.  ISIS is never destroyed when the US and it's lackeys are involved, it's their mercenaries doing their work.

Let Russia have a crack at the Raqqa corridor just to see the US squirm.   Can you remember the countries named in Bush's Axis of Evil?  Probably not.  Absurd propaganda from the original, always active and expanding Axis of Evil.

"Twenty bombs were dropped," the Defense Ministry said. Among the targets were a munitions depot and training camp, it said."

Training and equipment comes from the US and it's lackeys, more pretend bombing.

"Its a shame they all have oil in the Middle East because if they didn't we and no one else would be there."

I am not sure oil is the only reason, but that surely is a major motivator. Perhaps if we get new tech to make oil obsolete this can bring a solution.

There are a thousand other organizations wishing to impose proper interpretation of Islam.

There are a thousand other organizations wishing to impose false interpretation of Islam. - there - fixed it for you.

Its a shame they all have oil in the Middle East because if they didn't we and no one else would be there.

Not quite correct.  Israel would be there.  And until Ersatz Israel is established and all Arab countries forced into subjugaation to it, there will not be any chance of peace.

Week Six of the Russian Intervention in Syria: a first major success for the Syrian armed forces 7854 Views 119 Comments

This column was originally written for the Unz Review:http://www.unz.com/tsaker/week-six-of-the-russian-intervention-in-syria-...

Finally. After weeks of gruelling combat the Syrian armed forces have liberated the Kuweyres air base in northern Syria. This is a huge victory for the Syrians because during the 2,5 year long siege of the airbase it had become an important symbol of the Syrian determination to resist the Takfiris in general and, especially, Daesh which had deployed its best fighters to maintain the siege of the base and prevents its liberation. In fact, the Takfiris did resist with everything they had up to the last moment. For those of you interested in video and photos of the combats and liberation of Kuweyres I would recommend the site of Colonel Cassad and specifically these posts: (in Russian)

http://colonelcassad.livejournal.com/2472071.html

http://colonelcassad.livejournal.com/2470426.html

Many of these images and videos are for a “mature audience” only, but they do convey the sense of victory for the Syrian side and I highly recommend watching them. Up to this moment all the successes of the Syrian armed forces were limited in importance whereas the liberation of Kuweyres not only represents a huge moral victory for the Syrians, but it also has an “operational significance” meaning that it actually changes the shape and dynamic of the front (click here for a high resolution map of the area). Put simply: the Syrian have now seized the initiative from Daesh and they are now on the offensive. As for Daesh, they now have to allocate their forces to prevent the Syrians from further exploiting their success in Kuweyres. Most observers, including myself, were hoping for, or even expecting, such a development, but now it has finally happened. This is very, very good news.

There was, by the way, an interesting if little noticed side story to this event: according to the Russian military, the “moderate opposition” gave key intelligence to the Russian to target the “terrorists” around the airbase. Here is what RT reported about that:

Syrian government forces received intelligence on terrorist positions around the besieged Kweires airbase from opposition sources, which helped them lift the two-year blockade, the Russian Defense Ministry has revealed. “This airfield had been surrounded by ISIS [the former name of the Islamic State terrorist group] for two years,” Major General Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian defense ministry, said in a daily briefing. “Intelligence on the locations of the terrorist fire positions and support points around Kweires was provided by the Syrian opposition and cleared by the communication center in Baghdad.” Lifting the siege on the airbase in Aleppo provinces has been one of the biggest victories for Damascus since Russia started providing air support for Syrian government forces. The opposition also provided data to help target a big weapons depot of the Nusra Front, the Syrian branch of Al Qaeda, near the village Mheen in the Homs province, Konashenkov revealed.

For one thing, as far as I know, the so-called “moderate opposition” is mostly a myth, and to the degree that it does exist, it is in Turkey and in London. Furthermore, I don’t remember the so-called FSA playing any major role around Kuweyres. So what is going on here?..."

One simple fact everyone has forgotten.

Fiat is based on stability supporting growing debt.

When ISIS crash the party in London, Rome and Washington watch the rise of the PMs and be in awe

Actually the only thing that will have happened is that the big banks, the PM manipulators, will have had the carpet pulled from uder them

As reported by WhatReallyHappened.com

Patrick Pelloux revealed on national radio on Saturday that a “multi-site” emergency exercise was held in Paris on the same day as the Paris attacks on November 13

This makes the Paris events very very similar to other false flag operations - the common pattern is to conduct exercises at the same time as the terror attack happens. it is very very suspicious

French and US would not give Russians locations where ISIS targets are while they did not bomb them themselves. Now they are bombing something flying from somewhere? Turkey? I wonder what it is? and if they do it legally with Syrian and Russian permission. Or its is just smoke and mirrors and the whole tragic false flag black op.

How did the French know where that many targets were located?
How long did it take the French to verify the targets?
Why not strike targets in Iraq?
Does international law still apply?
Was France invited into Syria?

Some food for thought

A terror organ created, armed, financed and supplied with liver eating terrorist jihadi nutjobs by the vassals of USSA... attacks (supposedly) one of said vassals, so vassal then illegally attacks two sovereign nations that had no part in creating this USSAN terror a$$et. The moral bankruptcy of so-called "western democracies" is equalled only by the financial bankruptcy and the utter psychopathcy of those "in charge".

This french president should be held accountable for the attacks in paris, he is an idiot and is totally responsible for what happened on friday. What is the purpose all the surveilance on its own peoples if it doesnot stop attacks? More lies by government. This bombing of Syria by the french is all talk and little show.

Why not invoke article 5 of the NATO treaty? Do not believe the French want to remove ISIS, blowing up a few empty buildings at night is the minimum that could have been done and its all they are doing.

French hypocrites, I don't believe a word you say.

NATO = ISIS

USA = NATO

How can the French denounce the work of their own minions, ISIS? Remember, France is a democracy and the French people choose their government. Therefore, the French are responsible for the actions of their government that supports ISIS which the French simply label as 'anti-Assad forces' to cover up their duplicity, involvement and RESPONSIBILITY in the atrocities committed by ISIS. To add insult to injury, the French, along with their American friends, bomb Syrian infrastructure back into the stone age pretending that they are only hitting ISIS.

FRANCE = ISIS

The narrative in the NZ media is that It was Isis SYRIA that is responsible. They have picked up on the 'Raqqa is Isis capital' meme and the fake passport. You would be hard put to even know that Isis in Iraq is an entity (is Mosul in Syria?). Only US and coallition actions are being headlined so the imprassion is that Russian activity in Syria is irrelevant.Hollande is in trouble and this will help in his ratings just as Hebdo attackdid. He is  a headless chuck and I wouldn't put a false flag past him - all the usual indicators are there. Security fail check. ID at scene check, hashtag campaign check, drill for same scenerio on same day check.used to pursue other agendas and clamp down with police powers check. As this is a financial forum it bears mentioning that it will affect Christmas retail in Paris - let's hope US only has the weather to worry about, after all, they have been bombing Isis for over a year apparently
