People understood the risks of a pure democracy at the time of the constitution and that is why it was supported as a republic. I like how he thinks he is going to fire Congress so he can do all the stuff he runs his mouth about. Because that is what it would take. I don't think you can Exectutive Order that or Obama would have done it long ago.
A president can institute dramatic changes if only he has public support. Look at the damage Obama has done with so very little.
Much of our next president's power of change..legitimate change through congressional action, not his pen, will depend on his depth of public support. No president who wants change can do it legitimately with only 38% approval rating. Obama has not worried about legitimacy, only if he can be stopped. He has no concern for bipartisanship or compromise, only with what the media will allow him to get away with.
Enforcing existing immigration laws does not require Congress to do diddley-doo. The laws already exist; the President just has to enforce them, and Trump will. Likewise, providing for the common defense is one of the enumerated powers in the US Constitution. It looks like Trump has a firm legal basis for doing everything he talks about. It's just that the last several presidents have utterly failed to carry out their duties, such that the proper expression of them now looks edgy and avant garde.
Funny map, what is not funny is the alternative. Based on Huma's she's confused emails and softball interviews I think it's possible that Hillary is incapable of having an in depth discussion on any subject due to brain damage. Why only Trump's? How about we see the rest of the groups view of the world? At least Trump has experience running an organization. The others may have some good opinions but can they run the Executive Branch? The whole election process has been usurped. We are supposed to elect the Electorial College members and THEY are supposed to chuse the president. So, who are the Electors?
Each State in the union is supposed to be a Republic and the Federal government is supposed to be a federation of those States. The ignorance of the people are allowing this to happen.
We need a new constitutional convention to reset everything federal. We need to have an automatic convention every 25 years.
We need term limits, no federal agency regulations unless approved by Congress, state appointment of Senators (again), welfare beneficiaries need to lose the right to vote until the money they received is paid back, the ability of the Constitutional Convention to rollback Supreme Court decisions and to remove Supreme Court justices summarily. and removal of the vast majority of the federal government as those functions are done by the states. We need a limit on the taxing power of all the government(s) to no more than 40% total of anyone's income unless in time of war. We need a new standard of criminal guilt and a new type of trial for a charge of absolute guilt.
It will never happen unless there is a very bloody civil war.
