Carson Compares Syrian Refugees To "Rabid Dogs" After Trump Calls For Muslim ID Cards
A couple of days ago, as the debate over the Obama administration’s plan to relocate 10,000 Syrian migrants in the US began to heat up in earnest, GOP Presidential hopeful and former neurosurgeon Ben Carson released the following campaign video in which he amusingly said that Obama deserved to have his “breakfast defunded”:
Yes, "courage" is what is needed, and Ben Carson has a lot of it.
For instance, just yesterday Carson had the "courage" to stand up in front of a group of supporters at a campaign event in Alabama and compare the government effort to protect Americans from Syrian terrorists to parents protecting their children from "rabid dogs".
To be sure, it wasn't so much the comparison of ISIS to rabid dogs that piqued the media's interest but rather the fact that Carson didn't seem to realize that by likening radicalized Syrians to rabid dogs he was implicity calling all Syrians stray animals. Here's the quote:
"If there's a rabid dog running around in your neighborhood, you're probably not going to assume something good about that dog. And you're probably going to put your children out of the way. That doesn't mean that you hate all dogs. But you're going to put your intellect into motion and you're thinking, 'How do I protect my children at the same time? ... At the same time, I love dogs but I'm going to call the humane society and hopefully they can come and take this dog away."
Who knows where Ben was going with that, but we suppose the point was to say that just because the US doesn't want Syria's "rabid dogs" doesn't mean America hates all Syrian "strays". In fact, as you'll learn if you watch the clip, Carson "loves dogs"- it's just that sometimes he has to call the "humane society" to protect his children.
Anyway, this comes just days after Donald Trump said he wouldn't rule out the possibility of putting all Muslim Americans in a special database and requiring them to carry ID cards. You'll also recall that Carson previously suggested (on air) that no Muslim should be allowed to be President.
Remember, these are the two GOP frontrunners.
We'll simply close by asking the same question we put to readers on Thursday: are Carson and Trump right or is this a dangerous descent into scapegoating xenophobia?

This is one of the many reasons the Republican Party and I parted ways, probably for good. These two, and the rest of them, claim that the number one responsibility of government is to "keep the American people safe". That is not true. The number one job of government is supposed to be to protect Americans freedoms. There is a big difference. The reason they push the 'keep you safe ' meme is because this gives them cover to turn the entire country into a giant open air prison, and put all kinds of restrictions on our freedoms and civil liberties under the guise of keeping us safe. Allowing the illusion of safety to take precedent over your freedoms is how they get away with all of this. Just remember, those of you who think this 'Muslim ID card' nonsense is a good idea - you are asking the US GOVERNMENT to do this, and trusting them to restrict the freedoms and invade the privacy of one small sect of society, while trusting them to stop there. "First they came for the Muslims....." Should sound familiar. The ONLY answer to this, long term, isn't ID cards, but to demand the government stop destroying entire nations in that part of the world. Every single other solution proposed by these dickheads is just window dressing.
Muslim ID cards will never work unless everyone has an ID card. Otherwise a Muslim could just toss away his card or fail to register and when asked for his card he could say, "I'm a Unitarian," or whatever. A call for Muslim ID cards is and must be a call for a national ID card for one and all.

The excluded individuals of Japanese ancestry suffered enormous damages, both material and intangible, and there were incalculable losses in education and job training, all of which resulted in significant human suffering for which appropriate compensation has not been made. For these fundamental violations of the basic civil liberties and constitutional rights of these individuals of Japanese ancestry, the Congress apologizes on behalf of the Nation.

The "rabid dog" aspect bothers me, coming from a doctor. A more recent standard procedure would the Executive Branch to designate Islam as a terrorist group, and then allow Muslims to freely practice their faith from the internment camp or graveyard. This sort of practice has been done multitudinous times in European history for a variety of reasons. Peoples have been relocated on ethnic or religious lines more times to count (the most recent large scale example of this was the forced relocation of ethnic Germans during 1945-1947, incidentally.) Of course we all know about Edward I's and Isabella's decrees.
One cannot say that it does not have historical precedent. In the US, President Adams himself enacted sweeping measures to virtually forbid opposition from political activity. (I am not taking a position on this decision, merely pointing out that this is a time before 1941 to look to.)
Note that I am not arguing in favor of its application in the case of the US. I am asking that you explain and defend your assumption. Arguing along the lines of 'because Nazi Germany' is a poor argument and is the most common one used in discussions like this.

A country cannot direct its CREDIT into channels easily if it does not own its own money power.

You are confused - if you use American testing to determine their IQ then of course their IQ looks low. But if you add bomb making, field stripping AK-47s, target practice, memorizing the Quran, and knowledge of encrypted communications to the testing, their IQ wiukd be much higher.
