Amid the awful situation in Mali, The Pentagon just announced the following:

Which is odd, given the following...
Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Tuesday that the U.S. has ruled out putting any American troops on the ground in Mali, but officials are hoping the French will succeed in establishing better security for the West African nation.
So is the government just lying (as usual)?

- Turkey also warned the authorities in France twice about one of the three alleged suicide bombers but no response and nothing was done
- Paris attack was described on twitter dated a full two days in advance of the November 13th killings
- Wikipedia running an early story version at 23:06 specifying that French President François Hollande declared a state of emergency and closing of borders. That didn’t happen until 23:58, nearly an hour prior to Hollande’s actual statement
- security forces in Paris were simultaneously undergoing another live action emergency drill earlier that same day as we’ve seen before in other such events like Boston Marathon and 9/11
- two weeks prior to the attack, CIA Director John Brennan met with his French counterpart along with UK’s MI6 former chief and former Israeli national security advisor. On Monday Brennan admitted that the international intelligence community expected a terrorist attack in Europe
- Overwhelming evidence has proven the US-Israeli-Saudi-Turkish connection to ISIS terrorists
- In September Putin outed Obama’s fake war against ISIS at the UN, then actually began destroying ISIS where Obama only pretended
- US-Israel held joint military exercises at the same time and same place that ISIS took down the Russian airliner
- Defense Secretary Carter’s Russia bashing threats followed just hours later a few miles away with the Trident missile’s LA light show seen around the world as a threat to Russia and China to back off from challenging US Empire’s global hegemony
- Syria now being bombed from French jets as well as Israeli and Saudi warplanes. Timed purposely on the heels of the Paris tragedy and the G-20 meeting in Turkey which has turned into a war council to drum up intensified world war effort against nemesis Assad and Putin. But the Western bombs are making sure that they do not destroy ISIS nor ISIS-controlled oil refineries because they sell the oil to NATO member Turkey. Nor are they attacking the critical ISIS supply line in northern Syria that extends back into Turkey.

There will be a fairly significant, platoon sized unit, of embassy guards, all U.S. uniformed soldiers
That's the official story. Then there will be a number of CIA 'contractors' (mercenaries) in addition to that.
Who should be on alert guarding the embassy, not running around the local mall.
A platoon will be 4 squads of 12 soldiers for a total of 48, 24 of which will remain guarding the embassy and 24 of which can go out on patrol. In some African and ME countries there will be company size embassy guard units - 200 soldiers plus support.
And when an incident is happening, they should all be securing the embassy.

Much has changed since Panetta. United States Africa Command, (U.S. AFRICOM) is one of six of the U.S. Defense Department's geographic combatant commands, Mali is in the commands AOR.
Established in 2008 the United States Africa Command, in concert with interagency and international partners, builds defense capabilities, responds to crisis, and deters and defeats transnational threats in order to advance U.S. national interests and promote regional security, stability, and prosperity.
Don't confuse the lingo...."Troops" are those regular schmos, whereas "Special Forces", well, they're special.

.gov is vacilating on whether or not special ops helped out. If they did help out, how could they scramble to a hotel in Mali but not to a CIA station in Libya?

Because if you want soldiers to a job without calling them Troops or Boots on the ground, you call them SPECIAL FORCES... I am not sure why that is the new rule... Obama made it up so who knows.
