NATO Backs Turkey's Version Of Events, Calls For "Calm & De-Escalation"

Tyler Durden's picture

Following the meeting of the North Atlantic Council requested by Turkey - to explain its actions - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will give a statement to the press, no doubt urging, just as Obama and Hollande just did, no escalation between the two nations.

  • *U.S., NATO OFFICIALS SAY RUSSIAN JET WAS IN TURKISH AIRSPACE:AP
  • *HOLLANDE: MUST PREVENT ANY ESCALATION BETWEEN RUSSIA, TURKEY
  • *OBAMA: RUSSIANS, TURKS MUST TALK TO EACH OTHER, NOT ESCALATE

And we were not wrong...

  • *STOLTENBERG SAYS 'THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION'
  • *STOLTENBERG SAYS NATO BACKS TURKEY'S VERSION OF TODAY'S EVENTS

Here is The Turkish map of the flight paths...

So we must de-escalate!!

  • *STOLTENBERG CALLS FOR 'CALM AND DE-ESCALATION'
  • *STOLTENBERG SAYS ALL MUST CONTRIBUTE TO DE-ESCALATION
  • *STOLTENBERG SAYS ISIL SHOULD BE COMMON ENEMY OF RUSSIA, WEST

And here is the full statement:

Did we expect NATO to admit that the Russian plane was in Syrian airspace?

More lies and more attacks on Russia and Putin are forthcoming as the war in Syria expands

Turkish planes routinely cross the Syrian border in that exact area.

I’m willing to bet a 5-gallon bucket of popcorn that one of them will be shot down over Syria soon.

Revenge is a dish best served… with chilled vodka and Tchaikovsky’s music.  ;-)

If Turkey were actually fighting against ISIS, it wouldn't have shot down an ally in that fight. Moreover, if NATO were actually fighting against ISIS, it wouldn't have rolled over so easily and defended Turkey.

This incident lays bare the truth of the matter that NATO is far more interested in eliminating Assad and weakening Russia than it is in fighting ISIS.

I get tired of saying this, but I'm so fucking embarrassed to be an American.

The measured distance of the Su-24's alleged incursion into Turkish airspace is 2.39 miles from entrance to exit.

http://www.freemaptools.com/measure-distance.htm

At a crusing speed of 300mph, the Su-24 would only be in Turkish territory for about 28 seconds.

There is no way the Turkish F-16 could have fired, and struck, the Su-24 while it was still in Turkish territory.  Either the pilot fired before the Su-24 entered Turkish airspace, or else the F-16 struck the Russian plane after it had left Turkey.

Something clearly does not add up.

look at the Turkish jet trajectory - it was not headed to intercept in Turkish airspace. Show where it was when it fired, where the Russian jet was. I'll bet it was well East of where the track stops.

Erdogan's son sells ISIS oil through maritime companies.  Russia has been doing a number on that flow recently... Russian airplane gets shot down.  The turks are a big part of the problem, but everyone knows that.  Look throughout history, they were on the wrong side of both WW's, genocide... just a barbaric people as a whole.  Never trust the Turks.

a simplistic generalization.

the problem is not "the turks", nor the russians, nor israelis, nor americans.

most turks are fine people, content to live their own lives in peace.

it is the leaders of nations that agitate for war, which is not in the interests of the people.

I understand American education is a little... lacking, especially these days. But Turkey was never involved in WW2. Hitler tried to recruit them into fighting the Soviets but they declined and minded their own business. Just thought I'd clarify that.

And if we wanna talk about genocide then maybe we should sit down and talk about the Native Americans (which was justified with the GOD excuse, Manifest Destiny), General Sherman's rampage through the South, the flattening of Germany, the firebombing of Dresden and all of Japan, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, selling Eastern Europe to the Soviet butchers (which America funded and supported with military weapons), and the complete clusterfuck of American foreign policy from 1946 to today.

Really, I don't understand the obsession with blaming foreign countries while acting innocent yourself. Not even ISIS has done some of the sick shit America has, like starving 500,000 Iraqi children after the first Gulf War or spraying Agent Orange all over Vietnam (of which the Vietnamese are still suffering from today) And it's well documented now that America is involved in ISIS' creation and funding. It's not just Turkey, or Saudi Arabia, or whoever else.

Human history is written in the blood of others, no one is innocent. Welcome to Planet Earth.

Yeah, you might want to read up on your WWII... Turkey was supporting whatever side was winning at the time actually.  They joined the Allies in 1945 when Hitler was about to lose.  From 41-43... not so much.  Here's a nice article to read... just to clarify;

http://www.ucc.ie/chronicon/3/hakkfra.html

How does talking about Native Americans and US genocide and agent orange, take away from the fact that Turkey is a supporter of ISIS, funds them, arms them, and let's ISIS fighters cross Turkish borders to kill, rape, and terrorize Syria and Iraq?   Which then has helped cause oa massive migration of refugees into Europe, which is destabilizing that whole continent.

What gives you the impression that I'm defending the US position, when I have given no such indication? (hint: I don't... America is the worst offender of ME destabilization and death)

As the saying goes, Assuming makes an ass out of u and me.  But in this case, it's just you.

Counterpunch ran this story in 2009
http://www.counterpunch.org/2009/11/27/mayday-1960/
The U2 had been flying the 4000 mile secret route Peshawar, Pakistan to Bodö, Norway for over four years, flying at an altitude of 70,000 feet, two high for Soviet interceptors to reach. 50,000 feet was the MIG’s maximum ceiling. A flameout at the 70,000 foot cruising altitude would require that the U2 to go down to 30,000 to restart the engines, within the range of the Soviet aircraft. The crash occurred only two weeks before a high level Paris summit between Eisenhower and Khruschev.
Some years later Senator Fulbright had this to say about the incident:
“I have often wondered why, in the midst of these efforts by President Eisenhower and Khruschev to come to some understanding, the U2 incident was allowed to take place. No one will ever know whether it was accidental or intentional.”

This is what Putin gets for being so timid and frankly - nothing but a checkers player.

Turkey, France, Israel, the US and others fly into Syria all the time.  But Putin is too afraid of NATO to declare a no fly zone.  He made a strong move on the ISIS clowns but was too fearful to take control of the area and sky's.  Did he really think his fear would not be exploited.

To this day Putin/Russia has not honored the 2007 CONTRACT to supply the S300 systems to Syria and Iran.  Why?  Fear that they would be used by those countries to defend themselves.  Then Putin threatened to honor the contract with Iran (not with poor Syria though) in the later part of 2014.  But he never did.  This last week Putin again threatened to honor the contract with Iran - BUT he says MAYBE is several more months.  Always tomorrow and then he never follows through.  FEAR OF NATO.

They took down a Russia airliner.  A few covert attacks within Russia.  They know Russia/Putin impotent and will not act against the west.

The EUke's TWICE has the WUke army trapped and were ready to destroy them.  Each time Putin forced the EUke's to cease fire and allow the WUke's to safely walk away.  Why?  Fear NATO would take action and save their proxy WUke's.  Just the other week Putin conceeded on his requirements that WUke make the 3 billion dollar payment.  He gave them new terms of 1 billion for the next 3 yrs.  WHY?  Fear and weakness.  How did WUke react.  By cutting power to EUke.

Even Turkey has noticed Putin's fear and how he has gotten Russia into an awkward half in half out situation.  His lack of resolve and fortitude has prompted even Turkey to no longer fear Russia.  Putin is being bitch slapped, hard.  Either he goes gets used to it or he grows a pair when it comes to NATO.

Emasculation

Now, Pollyanna's brother, a cop with a grudge against her, who she raised and put through school, has stepped in to take Grace, like she's a football, the fool. If they are breeding communism right out of the birth canal, and they have been for decades, debating the Fed, Congress or any other symptomatic group of morons is a waste of time. In case you have been living in a bubble, the rich and the Mexicans are moving out of America, leaving the middle class, which participated, holding the actuarial bag.

Syria is just misdirection, and if you think this all isn't going to roll over into America, you are a fool. Playing games with pawns is a waste of time; better to arm them, to kill each other. The end game is always food, and before long most will not be able to plant a seed not certified to bankrupt them, by Monsanto.

The good news is that this is still a big country, there are still places where you can build a community safely, and natural resources per capita are growing, because the critters have triggered their own demographic collapse. Without children, there is no basis for finance, which is why you are seeing fascism spread. Vote all you like, expecting a different result.

The stock market is like the candy spread throughout the grocery store. Kiss those pensions good bye. Common sense tells you that parents raising their children to be independent, always the minority, are not going to tolerate equal rights affirmative action, and without them, there is no economy. Funny, the Silent Generation revered free speech and the loudmouth generation wants to make it illegal.

If you look at the psychology literature, you will see that 95% of the population is consumed by the past, waiting for something to happen, arguing their books, which, when the redundancy is netted out, is always inflation driven by reactionary communists. Chinese government has torched everything it has touched for thousands of years, and the morons bet everything on China. And Nero fiddles, while the new world order burns.

Whether all that is a threat or an opportunity depends upon your perspective.

Money is not a store of value, which the empire proves repeatedly; it's gravity. Money travels to money; it's a test of character. Quite simply, if you are surrounded by people collecting checks for doing nothing productive, do you go to work, collect a check, or look for others who want to work?

Emasculation, replacing men with machines, is what Silicon Valley is all about. The Presidential Medal of Freedom, NOW that's an oxymoron, “high quality healthcare in San Francisco” to be rolled over you next. Careful what you wish for.

Yes, until you see the new weapons roll off the shelf, it's still just a game among pawns.

Turkey threatened Putin with serious consequences if Russia doesn’t stop bombing ISIS days before shutting down the Russian stealth fighter.

Turkey has run air campaigns in northern Iraq bombing the Kurds militants who were fighting against ISIS.

Turkey is facilitating selling ISIS stolen oil from Iraq and Syria oilfields to G20 membership countries on the black market at a dumping price. Has been estimated that as much as $800mil of oil has been sold in Turkey by ISIS using Turkey / Syrian border in direct dealings between Turkish officials and ISIS members under the blind eye of UK and USA.

Turkey is a corrupt, jihadist sh*t hole that hosts, protects, finances and offer intelligence and logistics to ISIS under cover of NATO membership and alliance with USA.

Turkey is considered a USA ally. ISIS is considered a terrorist faction in war with America.

Turkey is s state sponsor of ISIS with a NATO membership. NATO is harboring a state sponsor of ISIS. That makes NATO and all nations within NATO membership accomplices of sponsoring terrorism.

Shooting down the Russian jet - coming back to base after a combat mission against ISIS - under the pretext of airspace violation it’s a direct provocation of war against Russia. US sponsored, trained and equipped so called “moderate rebels” were seen shooting on the Russians jet pilots as they descended on the ground while chanting Alahu akbar.

As long as NATO and its allies are offering support to ISIS, this terrorist faction will continue to recover.

Who is fighting against who is Syria?

ISIS is unveiling more and more as a mercenary army on the payroll of western countries hell bent to twist the arm of nations opposing them trying to put them in submission before new world order fascists globalists and western fake free democracies.

If Europeans won't vacation in Turkey anymore, then Turkey will make money by exporting refugees, i.e. they get paid for keeping them.

Turkey is the street Hookers of the ME: they will do anything for money. With anyone, be it with Germany, NATO, Russia, Iran...

Anything other than the Kurds is "just business" to the Turks. I expect things to get resolved accordingly.

This sums up the current Russian thoughts pretty well.

Turkey is performing NATO's task - establishing a No-Fly zone in Northern Syria
The No-Fly zone is to protect ISIS supply lines in the north and north-east, including into Iraq as well.
In response to the Turkish aggression, Putin today has openly declared that the Turkish state itself is supporting ISIS terrorism. This follows a major report released last week showing the individuals and private-co-public institutions from certain states (Qatar, Turkey, KSA, etc.) supporting ISIS. Today's statement from the Kremlin is aimed at disambiguation.
Were Turkey's actions against Russia  a provocation, or a response?
Analysis indicates a bit of both, but tending towards response.  "

I think it's more of a provocation, Putin can't respond directly without stirring up the NATO hornet's nest.  The full-court press is on, starting with the airline bombing and continuing with Paris attacks and I'm sure many more to come.  The USSA strategy is to create enough international fear and outrage that the world will be begging for Big Daddy USSA and minions to step in to restore peace and democracy or else they might resettle a "terrorist" in next door.  If Russia tries to set up a no-fly zone they can be portrayed as uncooperative in the pursuit of justice.  ISIS are still useful idiots, USSA, Israel, and France can continue pretending to bomb them while instead "accidentally" bombing Iranian ground forces and useful infrastructure to slow Iran's progress.

USSA is poking Putin from all angles to see what gives...

Okay so it was premeditated then.  They probably chose a target area near that thumb so that their story of airspace violation would be plausible.  Then they just waited for a jet to enter that chosen space or get as close as possible and had the bastards on the ground waiting for the pilots or quick response team jumped over the Turkish border.  They got lucky a Russian jet didn't make it there in time to lite up their own men and the terrorists.

Happy Thanksgiving from the Zionists.

Warnings could have been issued well before they crossed the line.  The Turks have been complaining of Russian incurrsion since the Ruskies started bombing.

What's disturbing is the Turk's willingness to shoot down an aircraft that was clearly taking a shortcut and not attempting to penetrate further into Turkey.  They were just fine shooting down a Russian aircraft to enforce a technicality.  The simultaneous and convenient presence of FSA turkmen makes this look like an event they prepared for.

Sibel Edmonds Examines Turkey, Syria and the Kurdish Question

Syria is once again the centre of attention with Washington and Ankara agreeing on “ISIS-free zones” that each partner is interpreting in its own way. Joining us to explore those interpretations is Sibel Edmonds of BoilingFrogsPost.com, just back from the region with intel on a possible timeline for increased military action in the country. In this conversation James and Sibel discuss Turkey’s battle against the Kurds and how the Kurdish population are being used by the US and Israel as pawns in a complex chess game. We also examine the recent bombing in Suruc and signs that it was a false flag provocation.

Even if the Russian plane did stray into Turkish airspace which is yet to be proven, it certainly does not justify shooting down the plane.

This is clearly a provocation by Turkey for Russia's bombing of its oil tankers and its proxy rebels in Syria. The fact that NATO has not condemned this act, demonstrates that as an organisation it is no longer credible. It is clearly a merely a tool

of US foreign policy. The sooner NATO is disbanded, the safer the world will be.

For a couple of hundred bucks pilots can purchase devices that record altitude, GPS locale and other data.

There is NO WAY that the location of the planes at the time of incident are not clearly known and provable.

Some one is clearly lie'in...bad!

If Putin produces the plane data it will be ignored by US media. If the US has the info it would have already been brought to the public's attention.

My guess is that the plane was not over Turkey. I would be delighted if the US and NATO can prove it was. That way we would not look like disingenuous sacks-o-shite.

Criminal putin regime told officialy that FSA is not a terrorist group and so criminal putin regime is not bombing FSA.

Russia says U.S.-backed Free Syrian Army not a terrorist group

But FSA, NATO, Turkey, etc. kept reporting that criminal putin regime is bombing them - so it means putin regime lied... again.

Syrian rebels to Russia: Stop bombing us

So putin continued to lie and play a fool in world stage ... until when again criminal putin regime went on mission to bomb FSA on border with Turkey - where ISIS is not located - they again violated Turkey/NATO airspace, got warning from them - but ignored it. Thought he is a tough guy - but Turkey fast pointed out where is putin place in world and bitch slapped him by downing ou mighty russian Su-24 war plane. So if criminal putin regime where on mission on bombing ISIS - this would not happen. But Criminal putin regime was in mission to bomb FSA and to show of against NATO by violating it's airspace - in result - putin got kicked in nutts. He deserved that for supporting ISIS.  Yes - putin is supporting ISIS because FSA is fighting against ISIS but criminal putin regime is fighting and bombing FSA. So this means - putin supports ISIS. Because ISIS and criminal putin regime and Assad attacks FSA.

Few hours later - FSA bitch slaps  putin again and downs it's helicopter using TOW. In one day criminal putin regime mirage about ou mighty macho and military force - was destroyed in ashes.

That is reality - now putin trolls can only scream with anger and downvote any who has put his and putins face in mud.

Hope to see Turkey blocking Turkish straits for russkies ship. Bend over putin... bend over :D
