Russia Deploys Warship Off Syrian Coast To "Destroy Any Threats To Russian Planes"

Tyler Durden's picture

Despite demands from France's Hollande, America's Obama, and NATO's Stoltenberg that this situation not esclate, it appears Putin is not taking the shooting down of a fighter jet lying down. The seemingly cagey confirmation by NATO and Obama of Turkey's claims that Russia invaded its airspace has been rebuked by Russia which claims the Hmeimim airbase radar shows the attacking Turkish plane violating Syrian airspace. In response, Russia is moving a Cruiser 'Moskva' off the coast to strengthen air-defenses - just as French and US carriers are on their way.

Here is The Turkish version mapping of the flight paths.

Russia claims otherwise:

  • HMEIMIM AIRBASE'S RADAR SYSTEM RECORDS VIOLATION OF SYRIAN AIRSPACE BY ATTACKING TURKISH WARPLANE - RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY

And is escalating:

  • RUSSIAN 'MOSKVA" CRUISER TO GO TO AREA IN COASTAL LATAKIA TO STRENGTHEN AIR DEFENSE IN SYRIA - RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY

The Missile cruiser in question:

The reason for the deployment:

  • RUSSIAN ARMED FORCES GENERAL STAFF: NONE OF OUR PARTNERS, COUNTRIES FIGHTING ISIL HAVE EVER TOLD US THAT SO-CALLED MODERATE OPPOSITION UNITS WERE IN AREA WHERE SU-24 DOWNED
  • NO ATTEMPTS REGISTERED ON PART OF TURKISH PLANE TO GET IN TOUCH OR ESTABLISH VISUAL CONTACT WITH OUR CREW VIA OBJECTVE CONTROL DEVICES - RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINSTRY
  • WARSHIP TO DESTROY ANY THREATS SEEN TO RUSSIAN PLANES: IFX

Specifically, as RT reports, the steps announced by Russian top brass as the following:Three steps as announced by top brass:

  1. Each and every strike groups’ operation is to be carried out under the guise of fighter jets
  2. Air defense to be boosted with the deployment of Moskva guided missile cruiser off Latakia coast with an aim to destroy any target that may pose danger
  3. Military contacts with Turkey to be suspended

Just like the downing of flight MH17 over Ukraine, it has quickly become a case of "he said, she said":

Rudskoy said the Russian warplane did not violate Turkish airspace. Additionally, according to the Hmeymim airfield radar, it was the Turkish fighter jet that actually entered Syrian airspace as it attacked the Russian bomber. The Turkish fighter jet made no attempts to contact Russian pilots before attacking the bomber, Rudskoy added.

“We assume the strike was carried out with a close range missile with an infra-red seeker,” Rudskoy said. “The Turkish jet made no attempts to communicate or establish visual contact with our crew that our equipment would have registered. The Su-24 was hit by a missile over Syria’s territory."

Sergey Rudskoy, a top official with the Russian General Staff, condemned the attack on the Russian bomber in Syrian airspace by a Turkish fighter jet as “a severe violation of international law”. He stressed that the Su-24 was downed over the Syrian territory. The crash site was four kilometers away from the Turkish border, he said.

As a result, Russia now plans to implement new measures aimed at strengthening the security of the country’s air base in Syria and in particular to bolster air defense. Russian guided missile cruiser Moskva, equipped with the ‘Fort’ air defense system, similar to the S-300, will be deployed off Latakia province's coast.

"We warn that every target posing a potential threat will be destroyed,” lieutenant general Sergey Rudskoy said during the briefing.

“All military contacts with Turkey will be suspended,” he added.

Furthermore, as the Russian Ministry of Defense explained, going forward, any Turkish plane that enters Syrian airspace will be fair game.

And again, all this is happening as both the French carrier de Gaulle and the US carrier CVN-75 USS Harry S. Truman are on their way to a very dangerous rendezvous off the Syrian coast.

So just as we warned in September, the situation has become a complete rerun of the 2013 Syria "Mediterranean" showdown, with full naval engagement by all parties, except this time the tensions are significantly escalated, a Russian fighter jet has just been taken down, US and French aircraft carriers are arriving in weeks, and Putin will not hestitate to go as far as he has to in order to save face.

Jewish-American traitor, Pollard, was just recently released from prison, eventually to leave for Israel.

He was imprisoned for passing intel on to Israel, who in return, passed it on to the Soviets, in exchange for the unhampered flow of Russian Jews to Israel.

Quite possibly there is another Israeli mole within the godawful fully compromised unbelievably corrupt, US intelligence establishment now doing the same, with Israel (for whatever in exchange) again passing intel on to the Russians.

All strong probabilities, and we Americans are being subjected to the likes of American traitorous swine like Jack Devine, culpable for various crimes against humanity (overthrow of Salvador Allende with help of American-sponsored Nazis, and having read all the declassified CIA docs about that, I kid thee not!), claiming all types of bullcrap, including that the CIA had nothing to do with the Chilean coup!

CIA needs to be shutdown, along with the traitorous NSA and DIA, all they do is embezzle American funds!

President John F. Kennedy's major mistake was laying off only ONE-FIFTH of the CIA's employees, and he paid the ultimate price, unfortunately!  (This was after the Bay of Pigs and several other lesser known CIA debacles.)

You're perseverating.  Not everything in the world is about zionism.

The "ethnic diaspora" logic used by Putin and now Ergodan is really no different than Zionism.  It just doesn't have a special word.  The Jews are good at inventing special words... for instance, they have their own word for anti-Jew racism (anti-semitism) as if somehow racism is different when it's aimed at Jews.

Turkey's airspace was violated 114 times in one year by Greek, Israeli, and Italian aircraft. They somehow avoided shooting any down.

"Air space violations are incidents that happen almost every day, and are resolved in a matter of minutes within international law," the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.

Six airplanes violated Turkish airspace last week alone, the General Staff said, of which none were shot down and left Turkey's airspace after they were warned by Turkish personnel.

A violation of one to two kilometers is accepted as "natural" given the speed of aircraft, the statement said. This year's violations of Turkish airspace lasted between 20 seconds and nine minutes, which showed "airspace violations can be resolved by warning and interceptions," the statement said."

Turkey could have downed 114 planes for airspace

Here we go ...

I was going to say, that the Russian plane, and/or Russian ATC, must have seen the Turkish F-16s before anything happened.

And I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Turkish planes violated Syrian airspace, but strictly speaking, just exactly why would that be significant?

You do understand our ability to fight a prolonged conventional war would be a matter of months...maybe. We make nothing of note, manufacturing base shipped out to third world, or we buy more complicated machine tooling from Germans, Swiss, et al. This tonnage you speak of, the US has a backward war approach... fighting the last war kind of navy. It has lousy fighter called the F-35 that depends on electronics  from China that have been compromised.....skill sets needed to make stuff are disappearing as fast as I type this...we even depend on other countries for spare parts for planes and equipment we already have...we do not even make our own uniforms...the next war will go nuclear very fast...besides, I think even our ""allies"" are tired of our bullshit. Jordan's    king is seething at our various betrayals, particularly after what ISIS did to their pilot. I think a rousing chert would go up if we got our asses kicked. Stock up on iodide pills...you may need them. By the way, the Russians have masdively improved their civil defense since end of cold war, while ee got the Kardashians and fantasy football.

Turkey is a member of the NATO alliance. Let us therefore not mince words: A NATO state has just attacked Russia.

Let's be clear. if Turkey can not prove the Russian SU-24 was over it's airspace, then this is indeed a full act of war.

Russia is doing just what I expected, bringing it's naval anti aircraft missiles into range of all Syria and Turkey.

The nexy hours are critical. Putin will demand PROOF from Turkey, and fast! If no proof is coming, well, you think about it!

Already, official Russian Defense sources say "We are sure our plane was in Syrian airspace".

NOT GOOD. Things can spin out of control fast.

They could spin out of control fast, but to do so would require resolve on the part of at least one of the "capable" members of the nato alliance. None of them have the nads to back up the idiot turks and not one of them is insane enough to do it either, so I could see Russia getting a pass on whatever they do over the next few days, as long as it is a measured response. My best guess is turkey is on it's own, at least for now.

Criminal putin regime told officialy that FSA is not a terrorist group and so criminal putin regime is not bombing FSA.

Russia says U.S.-backed Free Syrian Army not a terrorist group

But FSA, NATO, Turkey, etc. kept reporting that criminal putin regime is bombing them - so it means putin regime lied... again.

Syrian rebels to Russia: Stop bombing us

So putin continued to lie and play a fool in world stage ... until when again criminal putin regime went on mission to bomb FSA on border with Turkey - where ISIS is not located - they again violated Turkey/NATO airspace, got warning from them - but ignored it. Thought he is a tough guy - but Turkey fast pointed out where is putin place in world and bitch slapped him by downing ou mighty russian Su-24 war plane. So if criminal putin regime where on mission on bombing ISIS - this would not happen. But Criminal putin regime was in mission to bomb FSA and to show of against NATO by violating it's airspace - in result - putin got kicked in nutts. He deserved that for supporting ISIS.  Yes - putin is supporting ISIS because FSA is fighting against ISIS but criminal putin regime is fighting and bombing FSA. So this means - putin supports ISIS. Because ISIS and criminal putin regime and Assad attacks FSA.

Few hours later - FSA bitch slaps  putin again and downs it's helicopter using TOW. In one day criminal putin regime mirage about ou mighty macho and military force - was destroyed in ashes.

That is reality - now putin trolls can only scream with anger and downvote any who has put his and putins face in mud.

Hope to see Turkey blocking Turkish straits for russkies ship. Bend over putin... bend over :D

Turks are ugly, evil, fat, brain twisted, jihadist, pervert, pedophile, useless eaters’ nation on the wrong side of human genetics.

Turkey is a corrupt, jihadist sh*t hole that hosts, protects, finances and offer intelligence and logistics to ISIS under cover of NATO membership and alliance with USA and UK.

Ban turkey from FIFA, IAAF and all sports around the globe, too …

Is that you Thick Willy?

Great post though, perfect description of the Turks. One could almost mistaken that description for Americans though. Although you'd have to add a few more, like:

Drugged up, dumbed down, brainwashed, limp wristed cowards who are all bark and no bite, crying into their pillows every night over the Constitution, hiding behind the Second Amendment when they have no intentions of turning it on Mommy Government, legends in their own minds and thinking they're the best when the rest of the world hates them.

Make no mistake: the Turkish government does what it's told by Washington, and Washington does what it's told by Rothschild. Maybe Americans should grow a pair of balls and MAKE their government knock off all this shit? But I wouldn't count on it.

Well if ZH gets shut down for telling the truth nice knowing ya Bitchez.  It might be worthwhile to check your local news for possible terrorism hype in your area .. which may end up not being hype but rather a needed distraction and justification for more involvement in Syria etc.  Phoenix has the groundwork laid out already and it seems to keep coming.  All of the sudden they are admitting that our open border has allowed terrorists in and they are in our area and communicating with ISIS yadda yadda.

Hard to say if they just want people scared or if the foundation of an event is being created. Sucks to have to look at it that way but that's just the way it is.

UPDATE: Putin just held a press conference with the Jordan King Abdullah on his side and boy was he pissed. Some major points:

  • Confirms Turkish version of air-to-air missile but says plane was in Syrian airspace
  • Describes Turkish attack as “a stab in the back by accomplices of terrorists”
  • “Together with our US partners we signed an agreement to prevent” incidents like this
  • “Ankara will discuss this tragedy with NATO as if it was Russia who shot down their jet. Does Turkey want NATO to serve ISIS goals?”
  • Accuses Turkey of financing, protecting ISIS
  • Turkey doing oil business with ISIS
  • This will have serious consequences for Russian-Turkish relations

yeah, ok, now the liars and corrupt pufters over @ Turkey been exposed. Erdogan clearly runs a side business, buying oil for 10 USD/bbl and then legalising it via pipeline and on to the port and load it up in tankers and then sell for 30 USD/bbl and sell to EU customers (UK, Norway, Spain). This turns a nice clean profit of 20 buck a barrel. Now, god damn, those Russkies are wiping out our oil trucks, pipelines and loading stations, so what are you gonna do?? Yep, lets shoot some of those bombers down, see how that goes. Well, this a pretty bad decision. I figure all the oil sales infrastructure will be history within 30 days.

A large cache of intelligence obtained this summer from a major raid on an ISIS safehouse told the Guardian that “direct dealings between Turkish officials and ranking ISIS members was now ‘undeniable.’”

Add the Turkish / ISIS oil industry and you have a firm alliance. ISIS exists only due to Turkish support, which means NATO support. Who are we kidding. ISIS has been a NATO asset all along. To get rid of Assad and take over Syria, ISIS was the ideal tool. And still is. Once Russia began hitting CIA assets, it was only a matter of time before NATO responded. Turkey has it's own Turkmen Army in Syria fighting to take the Coast from Assad's troops. These Turkmen have recently been hit by Russian airstrikes, and Turkey threatened Russia to leave Turkey's personal terror army alone. Russia did not, now the Turks have just flow aircover for their terror Army in Syria.

Russia would do well to declare a Syrian no-fly zone, using S-400 and TOR M2U to enforce it. These two brand new systems are something the west has never seen in use, they are generations ahead of old BUK types. Even S-300 is old junk compared to S-400.

First a Russian SU-24 is shot down.  The Russians say it was definitely in Syrian airpace, the Turks say it wasn't.  Then both pilots are executed by unknown "rebels".  Then a Russian helicopter is blown out of the sky by a US-made missile, while the chopper was searching for a missing Russian pilot.

We are dangerously close to a real war beween Russia and NATO.  Anyone inside Syria is fair game now ... and probably nearby locations as well.
