Looks to me like your basic Algo Induced Short Squeeze. US Market bears are wimps compared to the Russian Bear.
War is bullish for most war-like nation on earth.

If you are trying to time this, just give some thought how long it would take for all the Russians visiting Turkey right now to safely return home, as Russia's foreign minister Lavrov suggested they do earlier today. Not more than a week is my guess.
Putin didn't react to the Russian plane downing in the Sinai but this was a step too far, particularly the humbling dead pilot video that has gone viral in Russia. Putin will retaliate and in force because if he doesn't he risks serious backlash at home despite his enormous popularity and, far more serious, he knows he will pushed around by NATO if they know that he doesnt have the stomach for confrontation.

The markets are like being 50 something and realizing your wife is not who you thought she was.
