Caught On Tape: China Builds A Bridge In Just 43 Hours

Tyler Durden's picture

When you have a billion people willing to work instead of expecting free "stuff", anything's possible... Earlier this year, a Chinese construction company had erected a 57-story skyscraper in just 19 days. This time the Chinese have built an overpass in mere 43 hours!

Workers took apart the old structure of Beijing's Sanyuan Bridge in a few hours. Then they brought an entire piece of concrete to bridge the gap and paved it over, reports Citylab.com.

To build the bridge, over 1300 tonnes of new surfacing material was used which save months of commotion and traffic woes. For the first time in Chinese workers tried out a new 'integrated replacement method.'

My takeaway from this was not the 43 hours, but that it wasn't a bridge to nowhere.  Imagine, manufacturing something in need.  Huh.

The new bridge is on the side - with moving equipment - the old bridge/overpass is taken down - they move in the new and voila - new overpass

Close the road on Friday Night - re-open Sunday Night.

State power and corporate America worst enemy is its domestic population. So labor needs to be destroyed.

Also, starting in 1971, US was no longer energy sufficient. Not enough energy is a death sentence for manufacturing.

So, we were left with financialization. Then, debt.

Now looks like 2015 will be for financialization and debt what 1971 was for manufacturing and energy.

2016 will be an interesting year. And that is just the beginning.

Hope I am wrong.

While this is not Cambodia, Holiday in Cambodia by the Dead Kennedys said it well:

It's a holiday in Cambodia
It's tough, kid, but it's life

Well you'll work harder
With a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
Slave for soldiers
Till you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake

Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
What you need, my son:.

Is a holiday in Cambodia

Not quite sure what you mean. Unions are superfluous when the laborers get paid adequately and promptly and aren't forced into accepting 12 hours shifts (or some such like). If the labrorers' contracts were fair and balanced, there would have been no need for a union. Maybe the snooping community can enlighten us what kind of contracts the loborers had for this project.

Who would live in the city except for a job?  It takes a lot of money to move and set up in another state.  Those hippies were the children of rich people who made being a bum fashionable.  SF is a beautiful city to visit.  Restaurants and tourist sights, beautiful hotels, the ocean which my mother did not see until she was in her 50s.  Why do you people expect so much from your country while it is being shaped into a huge ball of confusion while the bleeding continues?  Stand up for it because it is all you've got.  Move to the fucking middle of a mountain in the middle of fucking nowhere, alone.  Live there for 40 years and expect to die peacefully while hundreds of millions of people are sent into a state of destitution.  Go ahead.  JUST DO IT.  But, when your last breath is taken, hold a mirror and kiss it because you've just kissed the ass of the last stupid person alive.  We have an OBLIGATION goddam it.  Oh yes, flee.  FLEE.  You will be hunted down like a nazi criminal if you owe taxes.  But first, name another country which doesn't have an area where the losers congregate.  A country not being intentionally bankrupted.  TRY PARIS.  ROME.  ATHENS.  USA is fucking paradise.  911 is your chance on a Silver Platter to return your nation to normal and you IGNORE IT.  Just wave the white flag and move to the side.

I don't give a damn about your feelings no matter what they are. They are yours to feel and only you are in charge of them. In reality, no one can make another feel anything.

And if you volunteered to work today for another and yet seem so bitter about it, I don't get the rationality of your decision to do so.

"I should go to Calcutta" ... I don't need to go to Calcutta.  I have seen half the world, and talked to many people during that time.  In America, pre-911, citizens were left alone, live and let live.  China towns is just one instance.  America Towns in other countries amount to gated community of retireees.  America gave people with gifted abilities who would have gone unnoticed to be discovered and recognized for their achievements.

I am not bitter.  I am terrified.

Fri, 11/27/2015 - 02:19 | 6844776 Miffed Microbio...
Miffed Microbiologist's picture

Being terrified is not a good state. It tends to cause reactivity rather than responsiveness. Terror is unbalanced fear and it makes you more malleable for those who wish to harm you. I respectfully recommend you avoid this for your own wellbeing.

You focus on things you are in no power to change. Had I the power to destroy all TPTB I would gladly do so in a heartbeat. And if they come for me, I will defend myself, friends and loved ones. Hopefully my death won't be completely meaningless but if it is, so be it. There is no point to fear it.

The best approach for me is helping those I can locally. Forming a connection to them and listening to their perceptions and opinions. Most of my friends have had an active military career. Their advice and experiences have been priceless to me. You'd be surprised how so many are willing to teach when presented with one so anxious to learn. Though always a Lady, my heart is a Warrior.

Bunny, I have no issues with you. In reality this is just a blog where we all come to fight, grumble, commiserate and share opinions. If you have a specific issue to debate I'm up for that but personal attacks and shit flinging are just pointless to me. I'd rather battle on something more substantive.

They offer to move me to a lower floor and that should help with the noise. I told them not, because I would rather die on the fall them remain buried alive on lower floors. San Francisco is an interesting city. But I prefer the east.

The only thing I find appealing about San Francisco is the hope that the next megaquake puts a brick so far in Nancy Pelosi's head that her brain is actually found extruded out of her ass, and the whole fucking city absolutely turns upside down in seconds.

Take out that California shithole and take out LA, and suddenly California is the most conservative state in the union.

Willing to hire is what you should say.  The HELP WANTED ADS do not seem to be asking for help so what do you fucking suggest?  We go out into the streets and work for free?  Highways have been given funding due to Oblamo, and since 2008 I have watched 5 men on major highways, standing there looking lost, waiting for equipment, broken down equipment.  One lane at a time, no alternative route so "rush" hour traffic was nightmare and accidents were daily, some fatal.

BAD MANAGEMENT is in charge and if that is not evident, you are too busy wiping the ass of the maestroes who WANT us to be in a state of STOCKHOLME SYNDROME.  WTF - I have never talked with a man who did not made a reference to his job, his past job, or the job he wants to have.  We are defined by our jobs.

With bruised fingertips, I will fucking say this ONE MORE TIME.  The Amerian people are in a hostage situation.  THE NEW WORLD ORDER does not include the MIDDLE FUCKING CLASS and the wealth being pumped into CHINA AND DEVELOPING NATIONS was once ours, extracted out of our system methodically in an INVESTOR FUCKING PROTECTIONISM economy.

And for god's sake, IF YOU ARE A GODDAM MAN WHO DOES NOT SEE THIS, SIT DOWN, GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THOSE WHO DO.  You are fucking sending several hundred million people to their grave but not before they suffer the misery designed to be so severe and humiliating, it will be unreported.  THIS IS A FUCKING WAR.

The problem is exactly that Americans define themselves by their jobs.  Very few give a shit anymore about bigger issues.  The vast majority of Americans who have not already given up are on the hamster wheel, in debt up their eyeballs but still buying more shit to keep up with the Joneses.  Meanwhile, young people fancy themselves future celebrities or sports stars.

What is truly depressing to me is that a site like ZH ran several stories today that basically said America is defined by an economic model -- capitalism.  This country was once great because it meant something much more than any economic model.

Spot on LTER - that is EXACTLY what is wrong with Westerners today - they get their identity from their jobs - what peons we have become. Our sense of selves should come to us as members of the WESTERN CULTURE - not what type of slave brand we bear.

If it did we would not have put up with even 1/10th of the bullshit that has been swallowed - with an ever greater appetite for more.

Our people are slaves now, and used to it. Same death that Rome had - liberty robbed from the Citizenry and mass barbarian immigration pushed by the "Senate".

I used to believe it could be overthrown, now I think that war was lost in 1945.

Too much would need to be done to "save us". End the Fed, retire the alphabet agencies, drive out the barbarians, etc, etc, etc.

The elections are rigged, the regime is firmly entrenched. The finance, weaponry and propaganda industries all lie in their hands. Just no challenging that peacefully - look at JFK.

Only way to even begin finding a way out is a massive civil war.

Until then, on a personal level the only way out now is to break with the system - ironically one of the very things that helped kill Rome altogether.

God dammit, LTER, fuck you.  I agree with you on this.

Job identity is a form of sniffing the tail.  But in reality there's no odor to put any sort of supremacy in place.  It's all made up titles and shit.  We're not looking out over the whole field to see what really matters.  We've been trained to focus on a particular spot, not survey the land.

That 'Capitalism' myth has got to be put down so we can start considering what the Crony Oligarch system REALLY means.  The problem is we'll have be defining Oligarch to a hell of a lot of people, then rub their nose in what a Crony means.

LTER, you argue some things I don't agree with, and I usually don't comment on it because you're free to make your point.

But on this, you're absolutely correct.

LTER and bunny, I agree that people are defined (or self-defined) by their jobs, rather than by their morality, ethics, lifestyle, etc. "I'm a plumber,  I'm a teacher, I'm a ________."

So tired of this. How about, I'm a libertarian. I'm an American.

Anyhow, ZH is failing in its mission of providing financial news. Why was there ZERO mention of these two stories, which I found through GATA:

The best bridges,,, tallest buildings,,, best aircraft,,, best cars,,, fastest cars, airplanes,,, serious space program,,,  you name it. Then we got sold out, and the selling still continues. The only thing left is the military and the dollar. Since we no longer can impress the worlds people with our economic prowess we slap them around with the military hoping for some respect. What we don't realize is the same thing that happened to our economy, infrastructure and creativity will eventually take out both the dollar then the military.

One can see the jealousy emanating from some of the posts but jealousy doesn't build things,,, doesn't create and doesn't produce skills. We are a nation of supposed smart phones built by others and not so smart people.

Chinese people Do Not Trust their government which has over the centuries sent them into 3 famines and while in the state of lack of ample food, created a law which made ~talking~ about their plight against the law.  They were manipulated into complaining and then shot in the head or beaten.  When one prison slave escapes, all slaves are killed.  To move the Agenda 21 forward, confiscation of land from families is being done at the end of gun.  One man was imprisoned, forced to eat salted food, refused water until he signed the papers.

There is nothing honorable about China.  Corruption is thriving in this nation.  The million man army is there to protect the govt from the people who have had no hope for more.  One child policy has been lifted by thanks to it, there is a WORKER SHORTAGE.  The new young are Little Emperors and Princesses who quit working the first day due to frustration.  China needs workers and they new slave labor, where a 2 week notice before quitting is replaced by jumping off a roof to escape tedious, repetitive nonstop conveyor belt of products rushing to meet a deadline.

University graduates will not be working on the production line.  They will be management.  My friend's son is in USC and according to him, most students are Asian.  And they drive very nice cars, have no worries and are loving the ability to live in an infrastructure which took 3 generations of Americans to construct.  Complete with the freedom to pray freely to whomever they wish, should they chose.

Workers are needed to get the produce off the trees/out of the fields before weather change (freeze/rain) or it rots, feeding cattle/chickens/hogs need fed, culled, weighed, medicated - hands on.

Contracts have deadlines that need to be met.  For instance, An immediate need for 3000 people to work nonstop for 3 months and have the final product ready to ship or the competition gets the next deal and someone loses their job.

In early 1940s, my mother as an 8 year old orphan was sent alone on a train from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to Niagara Falls, NY, sent across border, lied and said she was 18, where she was picked up and sent to a clothing factory for 4 months to meet this deadline.  Her border crossing was on 12/31, New Years Eve.  She was alone.  I see she came back exactly 4 months later.  She never spoke a word of it to me.  I had to find out from a relative.  She could sew because of it.  She also insisted on mopping floor on her knees even after mops were available.  She did laundry as an orphan.  Orphans were the free labor in orphanages.  She looked after the young children.  And if you want to see a picture of her so you may be convinced as this sounds outlandish, here is it:

Your mom is/was a tough old broad.  I say that very respectfully, I know tough, old broads.  I have a mom that is a tough old broad. She actually DID wear combat boots.  Was one of the first Nurse Practitioners in the World, had the first clinic run by a Nurse Practitioner, has her own Supreme Court Decision, may have another in 2016, SrCMsgt USAF, LA County Deputy Sheriff (1970's), can put a round in your ass at two miles, can knock you unconcious with a flip-flop with a backhanded throw from a 1958 Rambler.  Tough broad.  Your mom was this sort of bad-ass.

My grandfather was orphaned in the late 1890's.  He ran from the orpahanage at 8.  Took a job at a newspaper as a sweeper (basically he used a broom) for a couple penny's a day.  In his teens he wrote his first bit of reportage. It was published, and they misspelled his name in the byline, Comer became Conner.  He adopted the new name and went on to spawn a West Burlington, Iowa newspaper and seven children who all knew their name as Conner.

To this day, my mom, surviving aunts and uncles, and their progeny are still trying to figure out what the hell to make out of it all.

One guy, in hard times, doing what he had to do to survive....

My surname, however, is a direct line from the first Irish King (certavi et vici)...with a mash of black, mexican, french, english and scot thrown in.  (We'll fuck anything.)

I disagree with that. The Chinese looked around Asia in the 80s and saw the Asian Tiger economies, remember those? Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan... they saw the pathetic state of their own commie-run shit economy and decided, why do things the hard way? They copied the Asian Neo Mercantalist model, heavy protectionism at home, overreliance on industrial scale export-lead economic growth; concentrated power in the hands of a few large industrial darlings.

It's also not a coincidence the commies embarked on massive land snatches from rural peasants and the housing boom that started around 2000. Leading Hong Kong industrialists were lending their brand of "expertise" to the commies, and all the Hong Kong land monopolists know is stealing land, then building cement block towers and putting them on the market at exhorbitant prices.

20 years later this is the economic model China is stuck with. Export-lead economy and infrastructure building. All copied from every other economic model in Asia. The 8-million annual graduates you are talking about are graduating into a non-existant service sector. What you're talking about is how the marginally employed migrant work force will soon be permanently unemployed. OOPS. Another little bump in the road for the commies. They've printed their way to prosperity leveraging paper yuan against slave labor, now they have to build an actual economy. Just as the labor force demographics start plunging. OOPS. Didn't quite see that one coming, those Mandarin geniuses with their 1000-year foresight.

I love it how all the "experts" on Asia fetishize everything Asian from their barkaloungers back in North America. On this side of the great Pacific divide China is a toxic waste dump with 1.3 billion peasants all trying to buy the same shit to look more prosperous to the neighbors. The skies are grey, the water is brown and corruption is endemic. The markets sell plastic rice, cardboard dumplings and anything else you can conceivably fake, from college degrees to auto parts. Let's not forget the melanin-laced milk powder. But keep fetishizing about the Chinese miracle.

There is some good news though. Eventually I estimate a Chinese diaspora of anywhere from 200-300 million people. And they're bringing their 17th century fucktarded belief systems, cronyism, nepotism and culture of authority worshipping with them to a MacMansion near you. And do you really think the Chinese kleptocracy is gonna cut you in on the action? I've got some news for you. In about 60~100 years, whatever pieces of North America are leftover after the various wars are going to be run by the Chinese. You're voting to become a second class citizen in your own country. Don't believe me do you. Google Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Phillipinnes. All run by cliques of Chinese from the diaspora. You people have no fucking idea what you're doing.

Good luck with that fetish. Hope you like playing master and servant.

"The F-35 started in 1997, nearly 20 years to design and build a plane."

To be fair, our goobermint first had to reimagine a pencil, then design a prototype, then define the specs, then, after years of study and crony pay-offs,  issue a Purchase Order, end result chalkstick.

Then our esteemed goobermint had to reimagine paper, realize that it decimated all the renewable trees, design regulations that killed paper mills and moved them onto the other side of the border, put in laws designed to ultimately ban paper, and, end result, slate.

Chalk and slate work as designed for a year, then the realization was made that both chalk and slate were derived from extrative industries that had no means of recycling, no matter that recyling was an active industry, so mining was encouraged to move to the other side of the border.

Finally, research developed the concept of email, where no paper is ever expended  The government then prints the entire chain of replies, in depth on paper for the Federal Record.

Then they start thinking about the carbon footprint of email....

That's a beautiful area, I've been once before, but you can hardly attribute it to the United States of Americas, as in built by the peoples of said country. I think it's about a 1000 years old, right? Built by the indigenous population of North America.

Whoopee! Logistics, materials, equipment, manpower. The way things really get done. And so what if it lasts 20 years. They'll just do it again. What did it cost? Got any answers on that?

What do we do?

We in the USA, however, let civil engineers place electronic devices attatched to old bridges, to measure deterioration, to let us know how soon they will fail. So the Polotic knows when to ask for money from the Federal Highway Fund. How much is in that fund BTW????

What a way to run a fucking railroad. You all must be really asleep!!!!!
