No, NSA HASN’T Stopped Mass Spying On American Citizens
The mainstream press says that the NSA has “ended” its bulk phone records collection program.
Does that mean we can all relax … and forget about mass surveillance?
We asked the highest-level NSA whistleblower in history – William Binney – the high-level NSA executive who created the agency’s mass surveillance program for digital information, 36-year NSA veteran widely regarded as a “legend” within the agency, who served as the senior technical director within the agency, and managed thousands of NSA employees
WASHINGTON’S BLOG: The mainstream U.S. news is saying that the NSA’s metadata collection program is over.
Can we all relax and enjoy a beer now? Or is the NSA still spying on Americans?
WILLIAM BINNEY: The only thing that ended was the general warrants issued by the FISC [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court] for companies to give all their call records to NSA for processing.
Now, the data is held by the companies so NSA has to make a distributed query much like google does to its data centers.
Plus that does not take into account all the content and metadata collected from the Upstream programs (Fairview/Stormbrew/Blarney/Oakstar) and the second party collection programs under “Windstop.”
This includes most of the metadata on US to US communications and the content with it.
Plus in a video, Hayden gave away the fact the “LoveINT” [background here and here] was not done with the metadata program it was “not in the metadata.”
Other than metadata, there is the data itself which means content of e-mails and phone calls.
I would also note, of the 80-100 fiber optic tap points on the AT&T lines in the Fairview program, most are distributed across the US according to the population distribution.
Now if they were only after foreign communications, the tap points would only be along the coasts where the transoceanic cables surface. Which clearly indicates that the targets of most of the Fairview program are AMERICANS – THAT’S US. I should also say that I have almost all of the specific locations of these tap points in the US and around the world all from sites on the web.
See this for background on Binney’s point about Fairview, as well as this graphic:
What does Binney mean that the NSA is recording content?
Binney – as well as high-level NSA whistleblowers Thomas Drake and Russell Tice – have all previously told Washington’s Blog that NSA has long recorded the content, and not just the metadata, of Americans’ phone calls. And see this. (The NSA is also converting our spoken words into text.)
Bottom line: No, the government hasn’t stopped mass surveillance on the American people.

Are they that inept? Assume they are well aware of some attacks being planned. It would be more beneficial to let it unfold showing terrorists in the US. Having a training exercise nearby to provide a quick response to terrorists would be "the US can protect you" along with you don't need guns because we were right there. Seems the above type of scenario is starting to make more sense to me lately.
Edit. Geo check with Binney if you have a chance. I am just applying what happens with civil forfeiture, when cops get an anonymous tip to stop a certain car.
Far too much money being made out of the surveillance state for it to stop.
Far too much money being made out of the war on terror for it to stop.
Far too much money being made out of the war on drugs for it to stop.
All are rivers of cash for those on the inside whether individuals or coporations.
Folks, if you haven't worked it out yet, we're all being played...
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and by craving it, some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains. Now you, man of God, run from these things; but pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. - 1 Timothy 6
A little sound advice that is ignored, but if followed would put an end to much of the issues we have today.

Judge Andrew Napolitano: A ‘Farce’ To Say Mass Surveillance Ended; ‘Nothing Has Changed’
http://thenewsdoctors.com/?p=553827
They spy on us because they fear us more. They know terrorists avoid their surveillances. They ask what do we have to fear, if we're not guilty. The proper question is what do they fear to have to monitor us? They fear the people; terrorists are their enabling bogeymen.
The true enemy of the people is their government.
speaking only for janus, i, for one, couldn't be any happier. i just don't know what i'd do if they shut-down this surveillance operation...i'd have to cease and desist my 4-year-plus magikal mystery tour...and that would be a shame.
WARNING -- janus is about to say some very boastful things, things that cause many to recoil in revulsion, things that i don't feel like qualifying nor apologizing for. all that being said, the following is directed to the boys in and around dc, over in hawaii, in utah (not my friends here on the Hedge)...places scattered far and wide, where voyeuristic creeps like to hide. these craven misfits crouch in dark cyber-cubicles thinking themselves gods, believing they see 'all', all whilst janus strides boldly in the light with a gaze that pierces straight into the dimly lit nexus of their hive. every day and in every way, i grow stronger while you cowards diminish.
deep-state, look upon me and despair. wanna play games with me? sure you do; but, with respect to my lil magikal mystery tour, i must ask you: are you not entertained?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMVLwl35R_I
of course you are. and, as always, you're welcome.
it's like this...some may think janus is limited to potent prose and a poison pen, that his powers begin and end with the written word. but the truth is that these runts haven't among them a single soul who can withstand my person and perspicacity in an improvised, active and live setting...i'll go so far as to say that they couldn't assemble a team to sit across a table from me. they know it...trust me, they know it well.
to me, this is an issue of blasphemy and an impingement of eternal authority -- janus will not sit idly by while mortals pretend to be gods...i just won't have it. you are not gods; and i know this because i am your superior in all the ways you magnify yourselves; and because i am no god, what does that make you pukes? that's right, nothing but peeping toms with a god-complex. you think we believe your methods and intent are to snuff terrorism as you openly sponsor it? your obsession with control belies a profound and overwhelming insecurity; and your job is in 'security'?
all of this is associated with the aspect of our modern age i find most repugnant. when power is so reluctant to reveal itself, when it parades an endless cadre of plastic puppets, when it hides in the shadows -- that all tells janus it knows how loathsome it truly is. and i must at least give tptb that much: they are on some level aware of their hateful and despicable natures, much like cockroaches. and, frankly, their fear is well-warranted. insofar as their power is of such a tenuous status that, if it were brought to the light, it would instantly melt in the scorching heat of truth.
every single day i put your very best to shame in their respective fields of expertise. you think i'm after power. you think i seek wealth. you try and tempt with enticements of the flesh. do you not understand what i'm after? i've made it abundantly clear; and still you think my motives are hidden.
once again, let me be very clear -- i seek your total and complete destruction. and i will have my prize.
you make me laugh...ye be gods? you're not even kings; for the lowly king will present himself to the people. and you, you will not dare to see your names named.
this all recalls to mind a certain cab-fare a few years ago, early in my majikal mystery tour. janus picked up this big-time MIT don from logan international. early in the conversation, i made some sweeping criticism of our puppet leaders and their wanton inadequacies. weaklings, one and all -- weak in mind, body and spirit. rejects, as it were. the MIT don didn't much agree, and so i told him confidently, "professor X, you happen to be sitting in a cab with someone who can, even at his drunkest, most wearied and weakest immolate any amongst them...especially this 'president' you've placed in office. why, this magic negro's never been challenged...never once...never by a reporter, a competitor, a congress-critter...never...almost as if he's been insulated from it by agreement...but, professor, i'd NEVER suggest something so dastardly as collusion at the highest level. even so, what does it say about america that your cabbie could reduce your president to a quivering lump of jello in no more than 5 minutes and 55 seconds?" to which the MIT don replied (in a thick israli accent) "i highly doubt that".
well, after a 22 minute cab-ride, that MIT don had changed his tune; in that i decided to show him what an active mind can do when it wants to prove a point. as i was handing him his suitcase he looked at me -- glint lighting his narrow eye -- and said (again in a thick israeli accent), "you know, young man, i think you may've been correct." "about what?" asks janus (in that i was right about so much i spewed in that short ride) "about you and our president."
thus began my respect for MIT. smart lot, those MIT dons.
and so, hillary, how'd you like it if janus were to show up at a rally in new hampshire and ask a few polite questions?
or, perhaps i'll wait for a more appropriate setting...
time will tell...
time is on my side.

"to me, this is an issue of blasphemy and an impingement of eternal authority -- janus will not sit idly by while mortals pretend to be gods"
Didn't Jesus Christ say that we "are" gods ... or was it Hermes Trismegistus? Or both ... I believe so. Although I think by that they meant that we have just as much ability to adjust the environment created by the machine as those who claimed to be gods (and use the machine to enslave us). It will respond to us as well as them.
Regarding the above article: We know what, we really don't know how, but take it for granted that it is technologically possible, but we do not know why. Why are they trying to psychologically terrorize us with threats of evil muslims, horrible jews, the Russians and Chinese that hate us (but are us), bad government, weaponized police, inbred terrorism, climate change, martial law, EMPs, financial crashes, thermonuclear war, asteroid impacts, alien invasios, vaccines, GMOs, plague and other methods of mass-murdering us?
They have seemingly been systmatically dumbing us down through the television, internet, the education system and drugs they have been feeding us (they are afraid of us and our numbers and they not only do not believe that they need our individual creativity, but they want to prove it as well). They seemingly believe that they, with a few slaves, would do just fine, thank you.
So, once they win, what are they going to do? What is the point of being evil and wanting to conquer the world if you don't have good folks to terrorize and enslave? They certainly would not appreciate a golden age without them.
We are told that those who wish to enslave us have virtually no creativity themselves. They steal technology and steal the creativity of the human race and try to claim it as their own. They can follow a plan, but are not especially good at adjusting the plan without human help. They value insight above all else.
We are told that their puppet organizations which have been passed through history from Rome, to Venice, to the Anglo-Dutch and their ancillary organizations and secret societies are now finally at a time and have developed/redeveloped the technology necessary for the coup de gras. But what they really want is to force us to fight ourselves. It is their way. Corrupt us, tempt us and indebt us and then force us to fight ourselves.
They do not have permission to kill anyone in this world, except their own. If you are enslaved to them, sorry, repent or the rights you entered this world with may have been forfeit. And, don't buy the mark of the beast B/S. It is what is in your heart that matters. They can enslave your body, but only you can enslave your mind, heart and soul.
I was told to "just abide" ... maybe that is the right thing to do.
Gramps,
i happened to check back on this, my ode to brazen braggadocio, not much expecting any sort of response (to be honest, i just wanted to read it once more; as i tend to amuse myself to no end), but i'm glad that i did. nice to make your cyber-acquaintance, Gramps. you seem like a cool dude; more importantly, my guess is that you've invested your years on this earth very wisely -- in the pursuit of wisdom. and, Gramps, if anybody ever suggests that very little can be ascertained about a person based on a few paragraphs posted anonymously online, you can spit in their eye for me. your new cyber-friend was able to assemble a very favorable opinion about you in the first two; after which i was interested in what was written in paragraphs 3 to the last. not so much that i've got you 'sized up'...far from it; and that's the nub of my impression or, i should say, the gist of my favorable disposition. my version of 'sizing up' works contrary-wise to that of the masses...for if i were able to condense you into a familiar form and distill that into something seen everywhere, you'd weary me quickly. but with you, what little i know is highly compelling; and based on what little you've shared here, i'd say there is clearly enough interesting in you to fill volumes, and all attempts to size-you-up end in consternation and added curiosity.
i read your response a couple of times, smoked a cigarette, and then went at it once more (every read worth the brain-wattage expended). i'll do my best to respond in kind...in the hopes that you'll return here to find mine, and that you'll stick around the Hedge for a while and participate with us on an ongoing basis. you clearly belong -- the kinda cool dude that makes this site so special.
in answer to you first question: yes, it was both -- but you already knew that. so, obviously, i'm affirming your certainty as an easy and obvious segue...an excuse to speak more elaborately on the issue. because this discussion is now (hopefully) strictly entre nous, i'll hazard saying a few things that i wouldn't otherwise broadcast so freely (these subjects make the simple-minded squirm; and, furthermore, it is dangerous enough terrain for the wise -- all the moreso for the dim among men). not only did Christ and Hermes (the herald) similarly proclaim the deity 'of' as opposed to 'in' mankind (and it's a very important distinction), it is a doctrine in which i believe. i do, however, hold it to be an issue of degrees. some are simply more 'godly' than others; and by this i am not making a qualitative assessment (good/evil), rather one of magnitude. the plural and common pronoun "gods" implies variety in addition to status. hell, 33% of the 'angels' rebelled against God (singular and proper) and were cast down to earth with that serpent of olde; meaning they were sentient spirits composed of everlasting stuff -- ie, gods.
and in the same way there is an hierarchy amongst these entities, we can deduce from this that within these segregated degrees (of both good & evil) there is a stratification of varying powers & prerogatives (principalities) -- their qualitative orientation notwithstanding. if i am correct about the nature of our experience on earth, our responsibility one to another and to God above, our origins, ends and purpose, it is that this life is a test -- a crucible, as it were -- in which it is possible to attain to an everlasting status (or rank) among our fellow immortals. in other words, we are gods; only, not yet transmuted...fluid for the time being, at some point to be fixed among our kin and assigned place (whether in 'heaven' or 'hell'). a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' so to speak.
my experience in life augments this suspicion. people who are keen to these things can detect the spiritual force residing in another person. the farther along one advances in life and the more interpersonal commerce is accumulated with our fellow beings, we are better able to discern both the magnitude of their power and its relative disposition. early in life we confuse the trappings of the flesh for spiritual potency, but with time the oberver is able to cut through the clutter of temporal status, money, poverty, physical appearance...etc. and better evaluate the essence of individuals. not every rich man is going to hell nor will every poor man make it to heaven...most of both go through all of life without even considering their deity; and of the few who do, most of those take it for granted and refuse to confront the awesome obligations that attend such awareness; and those very rare -- the aware and cognizant -- specimens have to in full consciousness choose; having made their choice they then attempt to cultivate their spirit and generate greater and greater power from whichever source they choose to serve. Calvin says we have no 'choice' in the matter; my logos says Calvin's correct, my guts goes against him. the 'truth' is probably some inscrutable combo of the two (the Lord works in mysterious ways).
your second question was in reference to they 'why', and my response has everything to do with your first question. so, knowing that i do esteem humans (at least some of us) to be gods, the blasphemy comes in our pantomiming the prerogatives of GOD; which is my conviction concerning the 'why' of their activities ( i'm with you; this shit ain't limited to simple tom-peepery...it's the whole enchilada -- and that's my theoretical proof. all of it, the cosmic totality of our experience they seek to contain, control and contrive -- all human actions are inspired by motive; taken together, there is no other conclusion than that these gods are trying to usurp the throne and authority of GOD ALMIGHTY...very bad idea). i therefore do what i do with fearlessly agressive confidence and nearly unwavering certainty (i must confess, the struggle can get depressing at times) because they are not only kindling the rage of GOD but also that of the devil. after all, satan wants to usurp the throne of God -- and the LAST thing a usurper wants is rival usurpers. and so it is that our present masters find themselves in a predicament unique in all of history (okay, not since nimrod) -- having stoked the ire of both God & satan at the same time. we, the free moral agents of present age, similarly find ourselves in an especially unique situation; inasmuch as there were clear lines of demarcation in times past, steadfastness was simpler...and those able to muster a certainty of conviction in an age where courage is so deer, where confusion and frenetic angst reigns in the hearts & minds of all, i suspect the reward (everlasting rank) will be substantial for all who hold fast and grow in grace and knowledge and wisdom.
now, to simply abort thinking at this simplistic conclusion is not sufficent...these men are indeed wise; and in assuming that they are in fact in the process of a grandiose usurpation, the thinking man must ask to what end? for they know that, assuming they are successful, the accomplishment is not a static resolution of time, space and existence. look, they one and all know that they are subordinate beings; and knowing this as i know they do, i am left only to assume that usurpation is not an end but a means.
i do believe (i'll go so far as to say i 'know') that temporal power on this earth is comprised of both good and evil persons...and my saying this would piss off lots of Hedgers (we're supposed to believe that each and every member of this world's power elite are pure evil...but it don't work that way -- never has). the way i appraise things, i would tend to agree that most are pretty shitty and its a brave minority carrying the torch. anyway, my guess is that both sides are of a single accord with respect to the coming cataclysm. i do believe that the kings of this world are in concert when it comes to the inevitability of this crisis; and that is because, from the perspective of evil, never before have all the elements needed for total control been at their disposal -- the technology, our total dependence on centralization, the co-mingling of peoples, the confusion and despair that scramble the modern psyche -- all of the world desperate for deliverance and direction and all at once. there has never been a time so favorable for absolute control, and if they let mankind slip through another cycle of chaos, they may not see an opportunity like this for another few centuries. it therefore follows that those devoted to the darkness will act according to the dark one's nature; and, ironically, in attempting to serve their dark lord by subjugating all of man, they will only succeed in enraging him -- in that satan likewise needs man's volition to secure their soul -- the devil don't brook soul-theft, not even from his minions.
on behalf of whatever brighter angles influence world affairs, my assumption is that they've acquiesced for several reasons. first, it is everywhere acknowledged that something massive is on the way -- that we and our collective buffonery are the black swan, and whatever a man sows that also shall he reap. second, it is as of now futile to withstand them. you are right, they cannot kill any except those of their own...but they have gone to incredible lengths in persuading the masses to their cause (therefore most of humanity are counted among their possessions) -- and what are the righteous to make of such a phenomena? who benefits by appealing to the cause of holyness among those who've soundly rejected it? the world has made it clear to whom they submit, they have done it freely and of their own accord, and, most damningly, they've yielded their souls on full stomachs. finally, and most importantly, for the Good Guys i think it comes down to this: "where sin abounds grace abounds much more." that no matter what, the Good Guys will in the end win; and the gates of hell will never prevail.
i believe it, too; for it is our only hope.
but it's bottom of the ninth, two men out...
as for my own self and most especially its everlasting soul, perhaps i've been a bit unorthodox in my crusade, and i have done some things upon which others would look askance; but i've done what i've done with conscious intent...a bunch of crazy shit to prove a point to both myself and the world i inhabit. never-ever have i passed myself off as a holy man; but i make it clear that i fight for a Holy Cause. Saint Paul went to rome and nearly converted agrippa along the way; after arriving at the seat of worldly power, Paul appealed to ceasar citing his standing as a roman citizen (re. tarsus), meaning he was bound by oath to the antichrist kingdom, the seat of nero. Paul never rejected his roman citizenship, but rather utilized it and maintained his station as such -- knowing he was in the world but not of it -- confident that God always works all things unto Good.
let's hope so.
and speaking of which, it's time i finally see NYC...wonder what 'nero' is up to these days? and seeing how janus ain't a holy man, i may permit myself a bit of fun (with a noble end in mind)...to that end, i won't have equal rank with Paul, but i'll have gone farther than many...if not most.
p.s. i agree with the whole 'abiding' thing...unfortunately for me it had to be a more kinetic variant of abiding. i did my best to hide in a little hamlet in the hills of rural alabama. i've come to know that a man can hide from lots of things -- destiny is not among them. and i reckon if'n i've got to go through with all this shit, may as well have a spot of fun along the way...you know, in compensation in exchange for all the down-home, country-side tranquility i'm sacrificing.

No change.
Or, now it is time for something completely different.
This 1967 true story is of an experience by a young 12 year old lad in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It is about the vivid memory of a privately rebuilt P-51 from WWII and its famous owner/pilot.
In the morning sun, I could not believe my eyes. There, in our little airport, sat a majestic P-51. They said it had flown in during the night from some U.S. Airport, on its way to an air show. The pilot had been tired, so he just happened to choose Kingston for his stop over. It was to take to the air very soon. I marveled at the size
of the plane, dwarfing the Pipers and Canucks tied down by her. It was much larger than in the movies. She glistened in the sun like a bulwark of security from days gone by.
The pilot arrived by cab, paid the driver, and then stepped into the pilot's lounge. He was an older man; his wavy hair was gray and tossed. It looked like it might have been combed, say, around the turn of the century. His flight jacket was checked, creased and worn - it smelled old and genuine. Old Glory was prominently sewn to its shoulders. He projected a quiet air of proficiency and pride devoid of arrogance. He filed a quick flight plan to Montreal ("Expo-67 Air Show") then walked across the tarmac.
After taking several minutes to perform his walk-around check, the tall, lanky man returned to the flight lounge to ask if anyone would be available to stand by with fire extinguishers while he "flashed the old bird up, just to be safe." Though only 12 at the time I was allowed to stand by with an extinguisher after brief instruction on its use -- "If you see a fire, point, then pull this lever!", he said. (I later became a firefighter, but that's another story.) The air around the exhaust manifolds shimmered like a mirror from fuel fumes as the huge prop started to rotate. One manifold, then another, and yet another barked -- I stepped back with the others. In moments the Packard -built Merlin engine came to life with a thunderous roar. Blue flames knifed from her manifolds with an arrogant snarl. I looked at the others' faces; there was no concern. I lowered the bell of my extinguisher. One of the guys signaled to walk back to the lounge. We did.
Several minutes later we could hear the pilot doing his pre-flight run-up. He'd taxied to the end of runway 19, out of sight. All went quiet for several seconds. We ran to the second story deck to see if we could catch a glimpse of the P-51 as she started down the runway. We could not. There we stood, eyes fixed to a spot half way down 19. Then a roar ripped across the field, much louder than before. Like a furious hell spawn set loose -- something mighty this way was coming. "Listen to that thing!" said the controller.
In seconds the Mustang burst into our line of sight. It's tail was already off the runway and it was moving faster than anything I'd ever seen by that point on 19. Two-thirds the way down 19 the Mustang was airborne with her gear going up. The prop tips were supersonic. We clasped our ears as the Mustang climbed hellishly fast into the circuit to be eaten up by the dog-day haze. We stood for a few moments, in stunned silence, trying to digest what we'd just seen.
The radio controller rushed by me to the radio. "Kingston tower calling Mustang?" He looked back to us as he waited for an acknowledgment. The radio crackled, "Go ahead, Kingston." "Roger, Mustang. Kingston tower would like to advise the circuit is clear for a low level pass." I stood in shock because the controller had just, more or less, asked the pilot to return for an impromptu air show! The controller looked at us. "Well, What?" He asked. "I can't let that guy go without asking. I couldn't forgive myself!"
The radio crackled once again, "Kingston, do I have permission for a low level pass, east to west, across the field?" "Roger, Mustang, the circuit is clear for an east to west pass." "Roger, Kingston, I'm coming out of 3,000 feet, stand by." We rushed back onto the second-story deck, eyes fixed toward the eastern haze. The sound was subtle at first, a high-pitched whine, a muffled screech, a distant scream. Moments later the P-51 burst through the haze. Her airframe straining against positive G's and gravity. Her wing tips spilling contrails of condensed air, prop-tips again supersonic. The burnished bird blasted across the eastern margin of the field shredding and tearing the air. At about 500 mph and 150 yards from where we stood she passed with the old American pilot saluting. Imagine. A salute! I felt like laughing; I felt like crying; she glistened; she screamed; the building shook; my heart pounded. Then the old pilot pulled her up and rolled, and rolled, and rolled out of sight into the broken clouds and indelible into my memory.
I've never wanted to be an American more than on that day! It was a time when many nations in the world looked to America as their big brother. A steady and even-handed beacon of security who navigated difficult political water with grace and style; not unlike the old American pilot who'd just flown into my memory. He was proud, not arrogant, humble, not a braggart, old and honest, projecting an aura of America at its best.
That America will return one day! I know it will! Until that time, I'll just send off this story. Call it a loving reciprocal salute to a Country, and especially to that old American pilot: the late-JIMMY STEWART (1908-1997), Actor, real WWII Hero (Commander of a US Army Air Force Bomber Wing stationed in England), and a USAF Reserves Brigadier General, who wove a wonderfully fantastic memory for a young Canadian boy that's lasted a lifetime.
Great story.
I am not a fan of wars and killing of others. Yes, wars can bring out the best of us but they are fomented by the worst of us.
No wars ever happened without the prodding from behind by the controllers of this world and the enslavement by their banking and elitist tools (who think themselves so clever and important). Is it so hard to understand how evil it is to infringe upon the God given rights of others to the point of murdering them, especially the innocent? ... and we were all innocent once... even those who have fallen.
Maybe some day we will be glorified for something other than war and the machines that help us fight them.
yeah what a brainwashed rant
Well done and thank you!
Bravo!
Bullshit, the NSA would never lie about a thing like that.
The spooks will play this to the bone. Think about it. In for a penny in for a pound. If it ever got out in public who, how, why they do their thing they prolly all hang.
NSA stop illegal spying - isn't that like the heroin junky who has a clean supply of 10 kilos of pure junk and a closet full of new needles and her rent paid for the next 10 years saying that she will just drop the habit like a 10-ton stone -
Ain't gonna happen
