DMV Releases Photo Of "Radicalized" Mass Shooter After Weapons Trove Found In House
Update: DMV officials have released a driver's license photo of Syed Rizwan Farook.
Earlier today, we profiled Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, the couple who stormed a San Bernardino County holiday party with two assault rifles, killing 14 and wounding 21 more in the deadliest mass shooting America has seen since Sandy Hook.
While the jury is still out on possible motives, Farook did travel to Saudi Arabia before marrying Malik, a Pakistan native who apparently taveled to the US after Farook's trip to the Mid-East.
While that certainly doesn't qualify as conclusive evidence, we did note earlier that according to several profiles Farook set up on dating sites, he identified himself as Sunni and when it comes to radicalizing Sunni Muslims, the Saudis and their brand of puritanitcal Wahhabism are second to none. Of course the connection to the Mid-East is itself enough to arouse suspicion among an American public that's now hyper-sensistive to Islamic extremism in the wake of the Paris attacks and thanks to fact that the issue has been politicized by Presidential candidates on both sides of the aisle. Reuters says Farook came back into the US in 2014 and also traveled to Pakistan "at one point."

Of course at the end of the day, two people opening fire with assault rifles on a holiday party seems pretty "terrifying" to us regardless of what inspired the shooters, but remember, crises like these are only "useful" in today's world if they serve someone's geopolitical ends so don't be surprised if the mainstream media soon turns up the San Bernardino equivalent of the forged Syrian passport found in Paris three weeks ago.
Sure enough, CNN now reports that Farook was "apparently radicalized" and was "in touch with people being investigated by the FBI for international terrorism." Similarly, NBC says Farook was in contact with "overseas individuals." The FBI now says Farook communicated with people who were on the bureau's radar in connection with a terrorism investigation. Officials also said the contact was with "people who weren't significant players," and was dated. There was no documentation of any "surge" in communication prior to the shooting.
We now know that Malik had a Pakistani passport and came to the U.S. on a fiancee visa. Farook entered the US with Malik in July of 2014. The FBI reportedly "doesn't know all of the countries" Farook visited. AP reports that in order to get the visa, Malik "had to submit to an in-person interview and biometric and background checks to ensure she wasn't a threat to public safety or national security."
According to The NY Times, the FBI is now treating the shooting as a terrorism case.
CNN also says investigators are analyzing an apparent "bomb lab" at Farook's residence. Authorities have reportedly discovered "hundreds" of tools that could be used to make IEDs.
As reported earlier, the couple used a DPMS model and a Smith & Wesson M&P 15 along with two handguns - a llama and a Smith & Wesson - in the attack. The rifles, two .223s, are capable of piercing bulletproof vests. The weapons were purchased legally.
Farook and Malik also placed a "device" consisting of three connected pipe bombs at the scene. Apparently, the remote detonator failed. 65-75 rounds were fired in the initial attack. 76 additional shots were fired at officers.
Found in the suspects' home:
- 2,500 .223 rounds
- 2,000 9mm rounds
- 12 pipe bombs
Found in the black SUV:
- 1,400 .223 rounds
- 200 9mm rounds
The trove of weapons police discovered indicated that the pair were "armed for a second attack."
Additionally, AP has the following account of Farook's family history:
The records obtained Thursday by The Associated Press show that Syed Farook's mother, Rafia, described her husband in 2006 as "irresponsible, negligent and an alcoholic."
She said she was forced to move out of her home with three of her children because her husband continually harassed her "verbally and physically and refused to leave the home."
She filed a no-contact, stay-away domestic violence protection petition on July 3, 2006. She alleged that same year that her husband attacked her while her kids were present, dropped a TV on her and pushed her toward a car.

I don't think you're seeing the whole picture. After Bundy things got tricky for them. They don't want to start a civil war. So having a muslim man commit a mass murder is something the right wing and left wing can get behind together. It's non-threatening to the people in flyover country whereas a hilbilly doing the shooting would raise more eyebrows. They can implement their gun regs, enhanced background checks (no more liberty inclined people buying more guns and ammo) with little resistance.

Putin's state of the union address today talks about terrorism. Basically they won't stand for it - and for sure they are not using it as a tool to destabilize civilization.
The direction that Russia's civilization is taking vs the west is startling.
Russia has direct subsidies to stabilize their demographics. Young couples are forming families and having children. There are not enough kindergartens, so there is a thrust to build more. The direct subsidies to families will continue even though it causes a burden on Federal budget.
Medical is being privatized but the federal government is going to inject into specialty clinics where investment is not taking place. At the margins, those who are crippled or who cannot fend for themselves will get help and or training to become productive.
Agriculture is becoming more productive and importation of foodstuffs is no longer a critical problem. Further revival of agriculture via partnerships with colleges and scientific academies will be to improve food production efficiencies. In particuar organic production of food is a goal, especially since the West is losing this knowledge. (My addition: It could be a likelyhood that Russia with their vast lands, energy and water, will be the first to integrate smart machines to harvest and help produce food. For example, Orange groves could have trees spaced wide enough so that machines with vision capability can pick said oranges. There is no need to import low cost "manuel" type labor.)
In those regions that are fertile and the land is not being used, Russia will look to return that land to the marketplace, and then somebody who can really put it to use will buy it.
In the north some infrastructure is lacking, so to attract young families said infrastrucutre will be improved. Further, land will be given away possibly for free. The north has critical resources that Russia is claiming, and to claim them requires people living there.
Putin stresses that any society to be successful must do long term planning, and this planning is not be subordinated to election cycles. In effect, Russia is laying in their template for the future.

I few years ago I was watching one of my chunky nephews. I'm raking leaves in the yard. Kid steps in dog shit. I tell him to grab a stick and clean it off his sneakers. I'm raking. ALL rifles are capable of penetrating bullet proof vests. You need ceramic inserts in the vests if ou want to stop rifle fire.
AR-15's with the .223 are MEDIUM power weapons.
Bullet proof vests are only good against pistol ammo.
And shotguns. Soft armor will stop low velocity shotgun rounds as well. Plates on the other hand are usually good up to and including .30 caliber (including AK rounds).
I have an SF friend that got hit at close range in the chicken plate, broke a couple ribs and put him on his ass before the other guy got his head turned inside-out. He said it hurts like a motherfucker, but he was still alive.

Eye witnesses say the shooters were dressed in black, but the woman pulled from the vehicle was wearing shorts. There are too many messy inconsistencies in this story so far for me to be persuaded of any claims being made in public.
PS The House of Saud is closest to the British Crown and Rothschild's pet fiefdom Israel; they do as they are instructed. So the Saudi connection is interesting, but leads to other places as well.

I doubt .223, more like 5.56 barrels. Now for ammo, yeah, they probably choose .223. 5.56x45mm M855 is what you want, not .223 ammo (not saying I want terrorists to have this, rather, we Patriots should have this).
As far as "capable of piercing BP vests", well, depends on the vest, and two, almost any decent rifle round can penetrate soft-armor vests. I've tested regular 55 grain 5.56 ammo versus 62 grain M855 steel penetrator green tips versus NATO M80 7.62x51mm, and they all penetrate 1/4" steel at 100 yards, no problem. Difference is the 62gr M855's punch straight through, retaining more energy on the other side.

Only Level III and Level IV vests, which have additional hard protective plates, will provide protection from high-velocity 5.56X45 mm / .223 caliber rounds, including the 62-grain 5.56 mm green-tipped XM855/SS109 rounds. [Note: the green-tipped XM855/SS109 rounds are not classified as armor piercing according to BATF.]
