I wouldn't be too worried. Most cops now don't even want to bother with busting somebody for simple possession. More trouble than it is worth for short-staffed departments and overworked court systems. Plus, he is right. They can't even control drugs that are constantly moving around. How could they possibly round up guns. Australia did it with some effectiveness, I guess, but mine are not for sale and I sure as hell won't just give them up. Most of this rumbling & grumbling about guns comes from the major metropolitan areas, but when you get away from the big cities it is a much different story.

Speaking of a plan of action, I wonder where the NRA is? It seems to me they have been very quiet lately, the opposite of what I would expect under this increased assault on gun rights. They should be at the very least busy with their own causation statistics and pointing out how the dramatic increase in mass shootings correlates with the introduction and widespread distribution of SSRI's and other psychotropic drugs being handed out like candy. Or, the correlation between allowing the drug companies to advertise on TV, which was only permitted since 1997. Is the NRA somehow beholden to drug companies and the media conglomerates raking in the ad revenue?
It's kind of like politicians and the media when it comes to the issue of Israel and dual citizenship. Nary a mention anywhere by anyone, when the upper levels of government becomes more infested with traitors who put other interests ahead of America's with each passing year.

Can't. There are, in general, four types of jihadists.
The first is the religious zealot who sees, mostly correctly, the evils committed by the Colonial Powers (mostly Western) thru history and has decided to make the citizens of those Colonial Powers pay for their master's crimes. This type is usually home grown, radicalized at the local mosque (or on the internet and seeks out a radical mosque) and lives in western societies, enjoying the benefits of such while hating those who are "responsible" (anyone not a good Muslim).
The second type is the revenge seeking Muslim. They are seeking revenge for some real or perceived offense by anyone outside his tribe and are happy to use violence to get their revenge. These range from the surviving family member of some drone strike to Osama Bin Laden's famous call to arms for the US invasion of Saudi Arabia. Usually this type remains in their country of origin and seeks revenge locally either by suicide bombing the local market or firing rockets/IEDs the local occupying force camps/convoys.
The third is the adventurer. This is a young man or woman who, disillusioned with his current life, travels to an area where he/she can serve Allah and kill infidels
The fourth is the truly dangerous zealot. He/She believes in the Muslim apocalypse. They want to provoke the final confrontation between Muslims and "Romans" (Colonial Forces) and believe that doing so will bring about the return of Jesus (on their side) and the destruction of Colonial Powers resulting in the return of paradise.
Although you could stop producing additional jihadist of the second type (by stopping Colonial Powers from behaving like world bulies, good luck with that). The rest can not be stopped because they are not been currently created by the West.
Best solution at this point? Remove all Western Forces from MENA, stop all military assistance to MENA countries, deport all Muslims to MENA, stop all travel from MENA and EU countries into the US (EU countries until they take similar sanitizing steps). Eliminate all gun restrictions which prevent citizens from defending themselves.
Will it happen? No chance.

U4, you're on the right track, but you're not being cognizant of the two methods that the Left has been using to turn this into a Soviet-style police state for the last 100 years:
1. Threaten far more than you intend so that the people will feel relieved when the restrictions are less than the threat.
2. Incrementalism.
They have already tipped their hand on how they will inflict the greates infringements on the 2nd Amendment:
1. They will require annual insurance. This insurance will have to be renewed annually, and this will require some sort of registration so that the government can be sure each of your firearms is insured. Insurance will be the back-door method of total gun registration.
2. They will tax the hell out of every firearm and bullet sold in the country. This alone will greately restrict sales.
3. Once these small steps are accomplished, they will incrementally reduce the number of people who qualify for a gun registration. They will do this by incremnetally categorizing firearms owners as "extremeists" and "mentally defective. Think I'm kidding? They are already loading up EHR software to track people with such mental issues as "tobacco disorder" (which is merely a cigarette smoker).
Once we get used to the concept of registration, insurance, and approval, they will choke off the sale and ownership of firearms until all that remains are those already in existence.
How will they get rid of those?
Mandatory searches for any call to any home to start off. That will make the people so nervous they will hide their guns.
And if the guns are so well hidden they cannot be found, they probably cannot be accessed in a timely fashion either. They'd be happy with that.

A better solution would be a "cyber attack by North Korean hackers" that shuts down the grid for a year or two. Without electricity you would see the US population drop down to about 35-50 million by the second year. Then, send an "International Assistance Force" to "relocate survivors" to emergency "safe zones" while the power is "restored" by our leaders. No radiation, minimal destruction of infrastructure and a mostly compliant grateful populace at that point.

It's quite simple. Make guns very hard to own.
Almost no one in Canada even owns a gun. It's just too difficult to acquire. Now my buddy Dave has a bunch of em'. He is on the board of a Gun Club. Those who really want to shoot can get it together and do the papaer work and meet the required standards and have guns at their disposal. You will need to have a lock box and put that in your trunk when transporting the weapon to the range. Almost no one can carry in public.
Works fairly well and we live beside the biggest source of guns on the planet.
