Israel Conducts Secret Training Exercises Against Russian Air Defense Systems

Tyler Durden's picture

Late last month in "ISIS Oil Trade Full Frontal: ‘Raqqa's Rockefellers’, Bilal Erdogan, KRG Crude, And The Israel Connection”, we highlighted a report from Al-Araby al-Jadeed which implicates Israel in Islamic State’s lucrate illegal oil trade.

You’re encouraged to read the entire article, but summing up, the contention is that ISIS crude is transported through Turkey to the port of Ceyhan and from there, it makes its way to the Israeli port of Ashdod.

Al-Araby al-Jadeed goes on to quote “a European official at an international oil company,” as saying that "Israel has in one way or another become the main marketer of IS oil. Without them, most IS-produced oil would have remained going between Iraq, Syria and Turkey. Even the three companies would not receive the oil if they did not have a buyer in Israel.”

But the connection between Israel and ISIS doesn’t end there. Earlier this year, Islamic State released a video threatening to bring down Hamas in Gaza. As Reuters noted at the time, “Islamic State insurgents threatened to turn the Gaza Strip into another of their Middle East fiefdoms, accusing Hamas, the organisation that rules the Palestinian territory, of being insufficiently stringent about religious enforcement.” Here’s the clip:

“Tensions between Hamas and radical Salafist groups have bubbled up from time to time, but many consider 2009's deadly clash at a Rafah mosque as a turning point,” NBC added. “After an al Qaeda-inspired group challenged Hamas' authority, Hamas security forces mounted a deadly raid which killed more than a dozen people to effectively crushed that perceived uprising.”

Were ISIS to make good on its threats, it would mean they have an enemy in common with the Israelis. More recently, Israel has sought to connect Hamas with Islamic State. On Thursday for instance, Israeli media reported that “the commander of Islamic State forces in the Sinai is currently on what was intended to be a secret visit to the Gaza Strip, meeting with Hamas terror leaders to widen their cooperation and coordinate attacks on Egyptian and Israeli targets.”

In short, there’s no telling what’s actually going on there although now that Israel has been implicated in the ISIS oil trade, we suspect we’ll find out more soon enough.

But we do know that Jerusalem has a vested interest in the outcome of the conflict in Syria. Were Bashar al-Assad to fall to a Western puppet government, it would cut off Iran’s supply line to Hezbollah on the way to rolling back Tehran’s regional influence. In that regard, one might assume that Israel has even more to gain from Assad’s ouster than the Saudis, Turkey, or the US. Here’s the official line (via Reuters):

Seeing enemies on all sides of the insurgency that erupted in the neighboring Arab state in 2011, Israel has been formally neutral but initially called for Assad to be toppled, arguing this would deny its arch-foe Iran a key ally in the Levant.

That view hewed to the strategy of the United States and its Arab partners, which back some Syrian rebels and say Assad has lost legitimacy to lead. But with Assad holding on and now helped by a Russian military intervention, Israel has gone mum.

"What is our policy in Syria? We say: We do not intervene. We have an opinion as to what we would like to be there. But we are not in a position nor do we have the status, for sensitive reasons, to say we are in favor of Assad or against Assad," defense minister Moshe Ya'alon said in a speech to a farm collective near Jerusalem last month.

“We deal with our own interests," he said, reiterating "red lines" that Israel says will trigger military action by it if crossed - attacks from Syria or attempted transfers to Lebanon's Hezbollah or other militias of advanced weapons systems or chemical warfare agents.

Yaalon said Israel had armed no side in the civil war.

Somehow we’re suspicious of that claim, but we’ll leave that aside for now.

When it comes to battling Hezbollah, there’s no question that the Russian and Iranian presence is hindersome. Israel can’t, after all, simply fly over Latakia and bomb Iran’s militias as Hezbollah is effectively operating as Moscow’s ground force. Additionally, the Russians are now hyper-sensitive about potentially hostile aircraft which is why The Kremlin sent the Moskva to the coast and deployed the S-400s.

Now, we learn that Israel has been training against an S-300 in Greece in what certainly looks like an effort to determine whether the IAF could hit Hezbollah in Syria without getting shot down by the Russians. Here’s more from Reuters:

Israel has quietly tested ways of defeating an advanced air-defence system that Russia has deployed in the Middle East and that could limit Israel's ability to strike in Syria or Iran, military and diplomatic sources said.

The sources said a Russian S-300 anti-aircraft system, sold to Cyprus 18 years ago but now located on the Greek island of Crete, had been activated during joint drills between the Greek and Israeli air forces in April-May this year.

The activation allowed Israel's warplanes to test how the S-300's lock-on system works, gathering data on its powerful tracking radar and how it might be blinded or bluffed.

One defense source in the region said Greece had done so at the request of the United States, Israel’s chief ally, on at least one occasion in the past year. It was unclear whether Israel had shared its findings with its allies.

The S-300, first deployed at the height of the Cold War in 1979, can engage multiple aircraft and ballistic missiles up to 300 km (186 miles) away. Israel is concerned by Russia's plan to supply S-300s to Iran.

Israel says Egypt, with which it has a cold peace, has bought a variant of the system. The Israelis also worry about Moscow's announcement last month that it will deploy the S-300 or the kindred system S-400 from its own arsenal in Syria, in response to Turkey's shooting down of a Russian jet there.

Israel has bombed Syrian targets on occasion and is loath to run up against the Russians. Israeli Prime Minister

Benjamin Netanyahu has met President Vladimir Putin at least twice in recent weeks to discuss coordination and try to avoid accidents.

Yes, "avoid accidents," but as we put it back in September, "Netanyahu's position is complicated by the fact that the Prime Minister is now at odds with the US over Washington's handling of the Iran Nuclear Deal. At the end of the day, one is certainly left to believe that Israel's "worries about accidentally coming to blows with Russian reinforcements in Syria" will quickly evaporate should Netanyahu get confirmation that the Quds are indeed on the ground as some reports have recently suggested. If it becomes clear that weapons are being funneled to Hezbollah, well, then all bets will officially be off."

(Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah)

Well guess what?

Since we penned that warning, thousands of Iranian troops have deployed to Syria and Hezbollah has become Russia's go-to ground army which of course means Hassan Nasrallah's forces are likely better equipped than ever. The question then, is this: if pro-Assad forces continue to rollback the rebels, will Israel sit idly by and watch as Iran scores an epic victory on its borders, or will Netanyahu test out the IAF's S-300 training?

Genie Oil and Gas, controlled by Murdock and Nathan Rothschild, has discovered a gargantuan oil and gas find in  the Golan Heights, Syrian occupied territory.  If Syria was to 'fall apart', Israel could legally claim the field as her own. Currently, under international law, the find would be disputed for obvious reasons.

Genie could also 'build' a pipeline through Lebanon and Syria, connecting to Turkey, and then Europe.

  Follow the money.

That's fitting that they call it Genie oil.  Genie in Arabic is djinn or jinn which would translate to demon in English or the Christian tradition.  Could they possibly get any more inflammatory.

jin·ni

or jin·nee also djin·ni    (j?n??, j?-n??)

n. pl. jinn also djinn (j?n)
In the Koran and Muslim tradition, a spirit often capable of assuming human or animal form and exercising supernatural influence over people.  Any of a class of spirits, lower than the angels, capable of appearing in human and animal forms and influencing humankind for either good or evil. An individual member of the jinn is known as a jinni, djinni, or genie (?????, al-jinn?). They are mentioned frequently in the Quran (the 72nd sura is titled S?rat al-Jinn) and other Islamic texts and inhabit an unseen world, another universe beyond the known universe. The Quran says that the jinn are made of a smokeless and "scorching fire",[1]

* Riba = 'Fish' in many Salvic languages, which seems rather funny & ironic, if you think about it, as the Fish is an ancient (Greek Christian) symbol of Christianity.

With that level of faulty due diligence you couldn't even land a job in the Bush or Blair administrations sexing up false intelligence.

1) the field is not "gargantuan", fortunately neither is Israel's consumption.

2) Israel isn't interested in building a pipeline to Europe, they are net importers.

3) Genie isn't controlled by Rupert Murdock and Nathan Rothschild.  They are minority shareholders who serve on an advisory board along with Dick Cheney, James Woolsey and Larry Summers.

4) The reason an inconsequential American energy company was granted the concession in the first place is precisely because of the composition of the advisory board and it's lobbying & influence capabilities, because THIS ISN'T ACTUALLY ABOUT MONEY OR EVEN OIL & GAS.  It's about land rights, water, and security (Bibi's "existential" needs), and in order to fulfill those needs Israel needs the US to lean heavily on its vassals to support Israel's claim to Golan Heights (since the only other countries who will even deny Syria's claim much less support Irael's are Canada, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Nauru, and Palau).

Enclava might sway your vote but if Bibi wants to rub the magic lamp he might want ask CEO Howard Jonas if he could name Dominique Prince de La Rochefoucauld-Montbel to the advisory board.  As buying the support of microstates goes, they might be a bit expensive for Israel's tastes, but there is an argument that one can get what the pay for, and they certainly need more continental votes, but their usual ZioAngoSaxon lobby isn't particularly skilled at securing them once outside of their home turf in Washington & the City.

Israeli used Greece's S-300 PMU-1 to prepare their F-16I pilots for potential air strikes on Iran .

we still don't know which version will go to Iran so if they practice on the S-300PMU-1 and iran gets the S-300VM it will be like practicing on a home cat and then going against a tiger.

Even US and UK had older S-300 models with them. US has S-300PS/PMU systems at Nevada. It has same value as figuring out Turkish F-16 from Egyptian/Pakistan/UAE/Taiwan /Korean.

But yes earlier S-300 models  are not completely protected Israel succeeded where many in NATO failed against even an old system like PMU.  Regarding  S-300PMU, it has been upgraded substantially in previous years.

Its guidance system is literally unjammable unless huge resources are dedicated, ie broadband noise jamming of the most powerful kind.

Though recently Israel announced that it is upgrading its F-16 variants external link to be able to handle the vaunted Russian S-300 anti-aircraft system. Iran is perennially about to receive shipments of the system. But mere intention does not mean they have managed to do so.

It was the middle of the 1990s and money was nonexistent in Russia . They sold components of an S-300V battery to the US... likely the oldest model they had that was incomplete. With the money they made they upgraded the whole system to S-300VM or Antei-2500.So in effect the US paid for the next generation to replace the generation that was compromised. And the S-300V was in service in most former Soviet republics so chances were eventually they would get their hands on it anyway... at least this way they got their own funding to develop a replacement system.

Strong human societies don't meddle in others affairs. That leads to the darkside.

In the end, the world will see what the jews have wrought, and will turn israel into a glass parking lot, killing everyone near Palestine.

No one ever considers how disgustingly evil they have become. Which is a shame for the universe, which will only lead to misery and pain for the people who come after us.

http://leaksource.info/2015/01/17/the-yinon-plan-greater-israel-syria-ir...

This is a neocon war using terrorist proxies and while one must avoid the temptation of wanting to find a single reason, in terms of US policy, i.e. Who crafts and shapes it, what we have is:

The Grand Chessboard (primary focus destroying russia as a rival global hegemon, and;

The Oded Yinon / Clean Break / rebuilding america's defenses / which path to persia line of plans concerned with destroying Israel's Arab neighbors using American blood and treasure.

There's really no doubt about it.

'Turkey and Israel's use by the US in this manner was revealed as early as 2012 in the Brookings Institution's "Middle East Memo #21," "Assessing Options for Regime Change," which stated (emphasis added):
In addition, Israel’s intelligence services have a strong knowledge of Syria, as well as assets within the Syrian regime that could be used to subvert the regime’s power base and press for Asad’s removal. Israel could posture forces on or near the Golan Heights and, in so doing, might divert regime forces from suppressing the opposition. This posture may conjure fears in the Asad regime of a multi-front war, particularly if Turkey is willing to do the same on its border and if the Syrian opposition is being fed a steady diet of arms and training. Such a mobilization could perhaps persuade Syria’s military leadership to oust Asad in order to preserve itself. Advocates argue this additional pressure could tip the balance against Asad inside Syria, if other forces were aligned properly.
It appears an uninspired rewriting of this plan is being put into effect now, despite the presence of Russian forces in the region. Perhaps the US believes Russia too would seek to avoid a two-front war with Turkey and Israel as the primary combatants with the US itself playing a muted role for the sake of plausible deniability. Even if war was not the intended final outcome, perhaps the US believes this extra pressure could afford them much needed leverage in a conflict already clearly escaping out of their control.'
http://landdestroyer.blogspot.com/2015/12/russian-retaliation-will-be-de...

Cf.:
http://www.counterpunch.org/2015/10/12/us-caught-faking-it-in-syria/

Whether or not all those weapons drops were accidental, it is clear as day the us was not actually trying to degrade isis before russia jumped in, clear the 'moderate rebels' are a myth, and clear that the us has mostly been attacking syrian infrastructure while israel has absolutely been assisting al nusra and bombing lebanese and iranians AS they were engaging isis near lebanon.

What israel is worried about is not that these missiles threaten israel but israels capacity to bomb hospitals snd schools in lebanon at will before their next attempt to invade it and annex it to the Litani.

Meanwhile isis has not though to rally the eeevil muslim world by hitting israeli or jewish targets.

That would be biting the hand that feeds it.

Agree that Greece would be better off in every way by joining the culturally compatible Russians. However, after being ruled by the Ottomans for centuries, the Greeks had to start anew with self governance.

While they successfully held on to their unique identity through all that time, the 20th century emergence of Greece onto the world stage was carefully controlled by leftists from the start.

Greece was used as a staging point by Bolshevik parasites who repaid Greek and indeed Turkish hospitality with the destruction of the Russian and Ottoman Empires. After independence the Greeks were unable to form a functional society owing to horrific civil strife. All of this left Greece open to NWO abuse which is where they are now.

The only way out for the Greeks is to acknowledge that the pension ponzi and the "government will give you everything for free" system that they have always known is but another form of bondage. If they want to be free after that they must be ready for a period of internal hardship, become fiscally responsible, and join their natural allies in the Russian sphere.

I'd like to address this "Best Friends" business - factually and objectively:

We all know what the US and, to a lesser extent, the EU does for Israel.

Since 'Friendship' is a two-way street, but vassalhood is a one-way street, the real question then is:  WHAT HAS ISRAEL EVER DONE FOR THE US AND THE EU, THAT MAKES IT NOT JUST A 'FRIEND', BUT THE BEST FRIEND" ???

(I mean, besides spy on us, steal our secrets, get hundreds of billions of dollars and free arms over the years, get R&D info and secrets, use said info/secrets to build companies that end up buying US companies, use the US to recongize it as a state, use CIA and DOD intel and assets in its fight against its neighbors, use the US and its vassals EU states to run interference for them at the UNSC, use the US to fight, bleed and die for it, run our foreign policy, State Dept, CIA, DOD, Fed, Treasury, FBI...)  Besides all these nice and wonderful things, what have they ever done FOR us?  I think a tapeworm is of more use and a better 'friend'.

Waiting for that long list of 'Friend' things that Israel has done for us.  [tick, tock]

p.s. I think that every Congressman (Rep, Senator) should answer this question -- both privately (as email/letter response) and publicly (TV, Congress, Alt Media).

Here's where it gets scary.

Russian's don't sell there best stuff. They make sure to keep some capabilities for themselves. Now, since this is a Russian system going to Syria (and not an export model), everybody and their brother wants to get a look at it in action. The Israelis, Americans, French, everyone will be seriously thinking about provoking the Russians to get them to light that system up. The hypocritical Americans do it all the time, they are called "exciter" missions. And you just can't meander by, you have to fly at the missile site like you're Billy Badass that way the Russians think it's a no shit attack. They will then use functionality not normally seen.

The problem becomes just how stupid are the Israelis and Muricans and how trigger happy are the Russians. The S-400 is probably the deadliest surface to air missile on the planet, so it's a recipe for WWIII.

Sunni Bathhouse Barry seems to still be in a coke fueled haze from Paris, so you Americans better dustoff of your fallout shelters. He's going to do one last snort of blow off the case of the nuclear football, then initiate some workplace violence.

DiogenicSpectre,

yes, there are functional systems that, when described, sound like something from a science fiction novel -- the lasers being just one among many.  also, if you're implying what i think you're implying, your implication is most-definitely the case: from time to time we'll bring some blustering president or pesteferious potentate to a certain base in new mexico (nellis) and give em a wiz-bang show they'll not soon to forget.  sorta like the debeers diamond company.  whensoever a new diamond mine is discovered, the happy claim owners are soon invited to south africa, where they are shown cavernous vaults choc-o-block full of diamonds.  debeers sez, 'sell your claim and live a good life...compete with us and will drive you outta business'.

quantum advances in technology are in the minds of the uninitiated and ignorarant tantamount to magik; and uncle sam is quite the wizard.

p.s. Vladlenin, barry is a crack-head, and crack-heads detest powdered cocaine.  and it's an important distinction...civilized folks like W do coke...chi-town pimps, community-organizers and hustlers smoke crack.

Vlad is making a very good point.  The S-400 consists of several types of missiles.  There is a short-range system that is able to stop cruise missiles and close-in aircraft.  There is a medium range system that has S-300 features, and then there is the long-range system that fires some sophisticated and very long range missiles. The latter are designed to take out ICBMs as well as aircraft. These are very expensive weapons and are unlikely to be fired unless there is a very high-value target. If you wan to know a little more about the S-400 go to wikipedia.  If you want still more information you can go to Russian media as well as some .mil (U.S. gov.) sites. Be sure to load up Russian translator ad-ons to your web browser such as "S3".  Compare what Russians see in their own language with what Americans see when they read the English version . Also set up your search you you are specificallly looking for .ru  (Russian) domains.

The Likudniks are trying to keep a low profile, but the world is waking up to their pathological and terminal desire for adjacent land-grabs and global shit-disturbing.

If they do not Cease & Desist, sooner or later their Coveting, Deceptions and Trouble-making will come to visit them at home.  There are just too many people in the world -- wealthy, powerful and dangerous people -- to not finally say "Enough is enough!  Fuck you, this is it!" (And if these psychos and sociopaths think that having a few hundred nukes will save them as a Sampson Option, they'd better think again.  If they use even ONE, they will be hunted down to the very last one on the planet.)

My hope is that in Israel, like in the USA, where a dangerous minority has hijacked the Government and steered it toward the rocks, the Israeli people will wake up and stop the sheer insanity of their own government.  The alternative is too horrible to contemplate.

Recall "When good people do nothing, evil prospers."  This is true for the American as well as the Israeli people.

You are too kind.  Medically speaking, there are things FAR worse than Herpes -- be it Type 1 (HSV-1, or Oral herpes) and Herpes type 2 (HSV-2, or Genital herpes).

A doctor once described both as follows in a speach:  "Think of one of being above the belt, the other below the belt.  The latter gets a bad PR wrap, but the former is far more visible and more of a nuisance."

But your analogy is interesting:  The Herpes virus resides in the nerves, and remains dormant until it strikes one day -- triggered by just the right set of parameters.  It never goes away, and gets treated only symptomatically.  Where the analogy breaks down, is that HSV can be eliminated by killing the host.

''The reasons for the British invasion and occupation of Afghanistan in the late 1830s are many and varied. They mainly revolve around what one of the 'victims' of the event referred to as 'the Great Game'. This was the name given by Arthur Conolly to denote the shadow boxing between Russia and Britain for influence in Central Asia for much of the 19th Century. Relations between Russia and Britain were strained in the 1830s as the British feared the expansionist and strong armed tactics of Tsar Nicholas I who came to the throne in 1825''

Anger toward Israel is causing a rather lopsided discussion here. While Israel may be 'testing' the effectiveness of the Russian S-300. they are also reaping the benefit of Russia's tiff with the Turkish head of state.  If you look at recent Russian news and then look at recent news from Israel you will see an interesting view. Russia has cancelled travel & trourism to Turkey and has replaced travel & tourism to Turkey with Israel.  Thus, there is an influx of Russian tourists on Israel's beaches.  Also Russia is greatly increasing the importation of Isreal's agricultural produce to replace the Turkish produce.  Finally, expect Russian oil to become cheaply available in Israel as tankers full of Russian oil head to Israel. Also, don't be amazed if Russian drill rigs appear in the contested area between Cyprus (Turkish portion of Cyprus) and Israel.  There are some big financial gains to be made in the newly discovered oil & gas fields (see the U.S.G.S. oil maps of the area). At least for the moment, expect more friendship between Israel and Russia.

If I was flying anything but an intergallactic UFO and an S-300 was coming for me, I would eject immediately.

But of course they're gonna "train" to deal with it. It's just plain old standard practice.

An eighteen year old S-300 is not like a contemporary S-300. It is certainly far from a modern S-400. Eighteen years is a long, long time in electronic technology and electronic warfare. Have you looked at your eighteen year old computer lately? Oh, you don't have one, it went into the trash several years ago.

I bet the old S-300s could still perform optimally with a firmware update. The missle itself is just a rocket engine with a bomb strapped on, after all.

Sensor sensitivity has improved but the rest is just size. Now you can fit more computing power in smaller spaces which improves speed. Missles don't need a lot of computing power, they either track (sensors) or are programmed with co-ordinates. I agree that there would be some improvements in reliability, but overall, the higher the number the better the range. Avoiding counter-measures is where the hardware improvements are, but let's not forget that the planes in that theatre are all at least that old, if not, older. If S-300 were obsolete, they wouldn't be used at all.

The term “Daesh” is strategically a better choice because it is still accurate in that it spells out the acronym of the group’s full Arabic name, al-Dawla al-Islamiya fi al-Iraq wa al-Sham. Yet, at the same time, “Daesh” can also be understood as a play on words — and an insult. Depending on how it is conjugated in Arabic, it can mean anything from “to trample down and crush” to “a bigot who imposes his view on others.” Already, the group has reportedly threatened to cut out the tongues of anyone who uses the term.

S300 etc can be activated in seconds once set up. Russians need extra system to sit hidden as a backup to their main systems.... just sit and wait with radars off.
US has a system to spoof S300 using cruise missiles to fool the S300 into using all of it's ammo.
Russia needs extra S400 behind the scenes and behind the treat to get them from behind when they approach, hidden in fake commercial shipping. Put them on fishing and cargo boats. Flag them in Liberia, if anyone comes to inspect, raise the Russian flag... This will help take out the AWACS and real planes flying behind the spoofs

In that case, it comes down to how many layers/levels of Deception both sides will conjure in their Chess Game for the Sky.

But if you are forced to reveal your abilities, then you have to take out every hostile in the sky -- or they'll be back, after they've nursed their wounds.  Only if their planes, drones and UAVs are all eliminated, will they fear to attack again.  They can then either back off completely, or double-down and send in massive ground forces.  Then it's Game On to WW3.

You are both over complicating things.  Any air defense system is easily overwhelmed by sheer numbers.  If it can engage 24 simultaneous targets, send 25 cruise missiles at it.  Gone.  In 2 minutes.

Most likely it will be gone after the first 5 incoming, because no system is 100% accurate.

That is why missile defense is only good against small opponents.  Super power vs super power and everybody loses.

Israel can never be defeated, sorry to disappoint many of you.  They have already threatened the samson option (look it up).  The elites have known for decades that if Israel is facing defeat, they will vaporize Nato capitals.  Help us win or you go down too.  In chess, that's called a stale mate.

It is wise in case those systems get "placed" near the SYR/ISR Border (or any flight path the IDF commandeers in the neighborhood) now and after this present ClusterMuster of a Conflict.  I'd leave Assets in SYR for years afterwards if I were RUS.

Why does IDF needs to fly into SYRian Airspace with Anti-Air Defense Assets strapped on when drones and satellites can do the basic surveillance? Just because/So it can...

The Unexpected Gameplay here?  ISR may be considering  a land grab - taking off a chunk of SYR in the Turmoil.  NATO/US Talking Heads have been reciting a Mantra about Moderate Rebels and Autonomous Factions within SYR, so it is obvious to the most casual observer that such a "Faction or Factions" can be placed and grown near the Golan Heights and other disputed regions.

It's Feasible, since it'll take a Land Force in the thousands to take it back; and ISR has one of the largest Army/AF in the Region.  They may have guessed that though RUS and IRN might help SYR regain land from ISR, TRK(and its NATO Baiting) is the greater/bigger threat - not to mention that it's a long supply line to the SYR/ISR Border from RUS.  They'll have to Airlift Loads of Gear, Ammo, and Troops early as a deterrent and a loss prevention measure if someone really decides to pull it off.

I'll be a major Regional Land Forces Battle if TRK and ISR invade and take up land, etc. simultaneously; and RUS and IRN (maybe even IRQ) might join in to fend them off.

Of course the combined Air Forces of RUS/IRN/SYR and all the fun Cruise Missiles and Guided Munitions can do much damage to occupying ISR Forces and to ISR Proper; and the fact that RUS can pretty much cause much grief and sorrow within the Eretz Y'isra'EL overnight is probably being used as an argument to shove  down Mr. Netan-Yahu's Throat in the Knesset and the IDF Warrooms.

When Russia decides that it has done everything needed in Syria it will start pulling its forces out.

That is the point when it will announce that it is indeed withdrawing the top of the range Russia spec S-400, but that, as Syria is entitled to defend itself, it is leaving behind export spec S-300 systems.

As Russia/Iran have announced that the first Iranian S-300s are being delivered about now, this will mean that there will be continuous coverage by up to date S-300 systems all the way from the Med to the Gulf and Afghanistan.

This is the nightmare scenario that US/Israel want to prevent.

If I were Prez, I would make the following deal with the Israelis:

Israel will conquer all of Lebanon, Syria and Iraq and add those territories to Israel so those "countries" artificially-created by the colonial powers after WW1 cease to exist.

Israel keeps all the oil and gas resources there for Israel to use or sell as you desire, making Israel energy independent forever.

BUT you MUST kill ALL the islamic cult followers and destroy everything islamic, including all the "palestinians" that are a perpetual source of problems.

We will supply you with all the weapons you need up front and you will pay us back with good profit later with revenue from sales of your new oil & gas resources.

Then I would move to take over the Saudis, gulf monarchies, and Iran for the USA.

I have a better suggestion:

After Israel does all that and is the sole ruller of the midle east, we NEUTRON BOMB the entire new israel and

get rid of the middle east gene once and for all and we settle a new continent for the white peaceful caucasian western society

How about that ?

You were reading my mind.

All the simpletons here do NOT understand the excellent potential for US to utilize the Israelis to eradicate the islamic cult vs the Israelis utilizing us to fight their bordering enemies.

Divide and conquer. Turn enemies against each other, supply the strongest to eradicate the weakest, then wipe them out and take all. A well proven strategy.

Which is why, without any doubt, at some point Israel will be destroyed unless it changes from its anti-humanism ethnic supremacism. A hate that is in fact the primordial root of Judeophobia.

The Serbs and Slovenes are a clever, devious and innovative lot -- when it came to military defense, as demonstrated against the German Wehrmacht in WW2.

E.g., Herr Hitler had to send 40 Divisions to Jugoslawien/Yugoslavia, that he needed against Stalin, just to keep Tito's and other Partizans at bay.  So to, I'd imagine the Latter Day Ruskies have learned the hard way to be just as crafty, innovative and deceptive as the Moxxad is.  Else you're toast, if you use your assets, tech and forces in a striclty linear & predictable fashion.

BTW, you forgot to mention that the parts of the downed Stealth plane were shipped off to Russia.  The Serbs and Russians go waaaay back.  Both are Eastern Orthodox, and the Serbs are historically a 'fighting people', that Ashkenazi Mad(elaine) Albright sought to decimate.

The only problem with this story is that the Russians have deployed S-400 anti-aircraft missiles to Syria - NOT S-300's.  The S-400 is much more advanced and capable than the S-300 so it really doesn't matter a whole lot if the IDF airforce was training to defeat the S-300 system or not.

Also, what is not mentioned in this piece is the fact that the Russians have in place their new advanced electronic warfare units.  These units use the same technology as the Khibiny device used to totally disable the vaunted AEGIS radar and targeting system on the USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea in the spring of 2014 (see this link for more information - http://www.voltairenet.org/article185860.html).

The EW system the Russians have in place in Syria is the reason there have been NO reports of US or Israeli air operations over Syria in the last couple of weeks or so. Approximately three weeks ago the Russians gave the US a demonstration of the EW system when it TOTALLY blacked out a flight of F-16's air to air and air to ground communications and disrupted their flight control and targeting systems (similar to what was done to the Donald Cook last year).  The bottom line is if the Russians don't give approval to fly over Syria, such as apparently was done recently with the French, the country's airfcraft will be disabled by Russian EW systems.

I think both the S-400 and the S-300 are now deployed in Syria.

I think the Russians gladly will give approval for the coalition to fly over eastern Syria, if the air forces that are doing the flying tell the Russia their plans in advance.  It's a variation of a no-fly zone run by the Russians.

The coalition is not happy about this, and today Sputnik tells us that the Americans are so upset they have trippled their drone flights and are now filling the Syrian air space with 50 drones at a time.

Fly a drone equiped w/an EMP warhead right over the Russian AFB.  Detonate it. Deny doing it.  Syria becomes wide open.

PS: Better have a darn good reason for doing this, as Putin will squirt purle fluid out of his eyes when it happens.

Sat, 12/05/2015 - 23:23 | 6881969 bid the soldier...

So you think that  Russian radar is not capable of locking onto a large (EMP warhead), slow moving drone.  Interesting.

My guess is that all the US drone activity is in East Syria and a drone heading West that crossed an imaginary line in Russia's mind would keep on getting missiles from S-400s or Pantirs or whatever until their blip was off Putin's radar screen.

If Robert E. Obama sends a squadron of slow moving drone drones all with EMP warheads, at Latakia, Putin's response would probably be a missile on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, DC.
