US Air Force Running Out Of Bombs To Drop On ISIS

Tyler Durden's picture

Things must be going well in the "war on terror," as the US Air Force just admitted that it is fast running out of bombs to drop on ISIS after "B-1s have dropped bombs in record numbers." As ZeeNews reports, Air Force chief of staff General Mark Welsh said as America ramps up its military campaign against the Islamist terror group, the Air Force is now "expending munitions faster than we can replenish them."

The US Air Force is fast running out of bombs to drop on ISIS targets in Syria and Iraq after its pilots fired off over 20,000 missiles and bombs since the US bombing campaign against the terror group began 15 months ago, its chief has said. As ZeeNews reports,

"B-1s have dropped bombs in record numbers. F-15Es are in the fight because they are able to employ a wide range of weapons and do so with great flexibility. We need the funding in place to ensure we're prepared for the long fight," Welsh said in the statement.

"This is a critical need," he said.

The bombing campaign has left the US Air Force with what an Air Force official described as munitions depot stocks "below our desired objective."

The Air Force has requested additional funding for Hellfire missiles and is developing plans to ramp up weapons production to replenish its stocks more quickly. But replenishing that stock can take "up to four years from time of expenditure to asset resupply," the official told CNN.

"The precision today's wars requires demands the right equipment and capability to achieve desired effects. We need to ensure the necessary funding is in place to not only execute today's wars, but also tomorrow's challenges," the official said.

As The Washington Times concludes, Russia has been bombing ISIS positions sporadically while France and Great Britain are now active in the American-led coalition which could relieve some pressure.

Much larger potential adversaries like Russia or China most surely are following this development carefully. If the USAF cannot sustain a trickling battle against a poorly armed, medieval enemy, fighting a superpower military is obviously beyond its capability.

Obama hinted at this last night:

"But they also know that if we occupy foreign lands, they can maintain insurgencies for years, killing thousands of our troops and draining our resources, and using our presence to draw new recruits."

Do we have reserves for a real global threat?   Pentagon gave up on "fight two wars" and I'm wondering if we can fight/sustain ourselves in one?

I get the feeling this news isn't entirely true.  They've probably been ordered to hoard most of the stockpile to use one day against American citizens.

most of the shit being dropped from our planes over ISIS territory are weapons to be used against us and of course, food, water, Nike BBall shoes, and leaflets informing them ahead of time to run away before we actually do drop real bombs on a few of them for the nightly news puppets to show the sheeple.

We already know most of the effective bombing has all been done by Russia in just a matter of a few weeks.  Something our treasonous gov-scum hasn't allowed our military to do in over an entire year of fucking around over there.

Paveway IV's picture

Our precision air-dropped munitions are mostly iron bombs with nose-and-tail guidance kits. We have plenty of iron bombs and they're relatively inexpensive. The guidance kits (Raytheon's Paveway and Boeing's JDAM) are roughly in the $20,000 - $40,000 range. Special use ones can run north of $80,000 a kit.

Total loaded cost of operating an F-15 run can't be easily calculated, but one common wild-assed guess used is about $200K a sortie.

Precision weapons on average today probably hit their intended targes roughly about 80% of the time. Bottom line is that we are spending a quarter of a million (give or take) any time we bomb a farm tractor or an empty building, i.e., ISIS headquarters.

The question here shouldn't be how many more bombs we need or how much they cost. The question should be: "Why THE FUCK have we revived the Vietnam-era strategy of waging a questionably legal and utterly useless air campaign against guerrilla fighters based on our even more useless intelligence?"

Maybe the better question is "When do we strip those fuckers at the Pentagon of their rank and court martial them for dereliction of duty for NOT informing the President that they are unable to analyze intelligence properly enough to bomb anything of value, and the U.S. air campaign is fucking useless against ISIS as a result?"

You miss the point.

At least the military-industrial complex is still humming along....... We've spent BILLIONS and BILLIONS and STILL use the B-52 (more than 50 years old) because it's replacements are obscenely expensive boondoggles.  Anyone ever ask WHY we even built these disasters?  The F-35 is another mess like the F-111 - too much expected at an obscene price in a waay too complicated plane used to fight 'insurgents' on the ground armed with WHAT?

Such a fuck job. First we see evidence that they are bombing empty fields for months. Then we see that a majority of planes return with their munitions still strapped on them. Then, after Russia pulls their pants down, they start bombing.

Now this story comes out to try to make western peibes think that they are actually doing something.

I said matter of factly at the beginning of the year when Iraq, and Iran started teaming up on ISIS, and Syria continued their forward progress that the West better get on board, even if it's a ceremonial effort, or they'd be marginalized. I never dreamed I would be so right.

The "precision" bombs needed by the US are 10x more expensive than the bombs used by Russia against ISIS. Most of the Russian bombs are low-cost unguided munitions that are precisely delivered on target by a Russian computer system known as SVP-24, which is installed on each aircraft. Unguided but highly accurate delivery of munitions combined with a fleet of reliable and easily maintained aircraft means the Russians can sustain their efforts indefinitely.

Here is a more detailed description of the SVP-24 and munitions used by Russia against ISIS:

Well, they also hate us because their holy book is quite explicit about how infidels must be treated. Hint: it ain't with kindness and compassion.

"

The Quran Distinguishes Muslims from Non-Muslims
and Establishes a Hierarchy of Relative Worth

The Quran makes it clear that Islam is not about universal brotherhood, but about the brotherhood of believers:

The Believers are but a single Brotherhood (49:10)

Not all men are equal under Islam.  Slaves and the handicapped are not equal to healthy free men, for example (16:75-76).  The Quran introduces the “Law of Equality,” which establishes different levels of human value when considering certain matters, such as restitution for murder (2:178).

Neither are Muslim believers equal to non-Muslims:

Are those who know equal to those who know not? (39:09)

Is the blind equal to the one who sees"  Or darkness equal to light? (13:16)

A believing slave is superior to an unbeliever (2:221)

The Quran plainly tells Muslims that they are a favored race, while those of other religions are “perverted transgressors”:

Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book [Christians and Jews] had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors. (3:110)

As we shall see later, Allah condemns non-Muslims to Hell based merely on their unbelief, while believers are rewarded with the finest earthly comforts in the hereafter, including never-ending food, wine and sex (56:12-40).

Much of the Quran is devoted to distinguishing Muslims from non-Muslims and impugning the latter.  Among other things, non-Muslims are said to be diseased (2:10), perverse (2:99), stupid (2:171) and deceitful (3:73).

The first sura of the Quran is a short prayer that is repeated by devout Muslims each day and ends with these words:

Keep us on the right path. The path of those upon whom Thou hast bestowed favors. Not (the path) of those upon whom Thy wrath is brought down, nor of those who go astray. (1:6-7)

Muhammad was once asked if this pertained to Jews and Christians.  His response was, "Whom else?" (Bukhari 56:662).

The problem is that with regards to ISIS and Islamic Terrorists in general there is nothing to bomb, they live in caves and in the dirt.

Chemical or Biological weapons are the only weapons that would be effective in combating terrorists because 1) They are cheap and 2) They cover a lot of square footage per package.

No one cares if a terrorist drowns in his own blood after his lungs have been turned to liquid shit, weapons kill people if you are at war with an enemy there is no point in showing mercy.

Fight terror with terror if you ask me.

Put the fear of living god in them that they may wake up one morning with their face melted off.

We're talking approximately one bomb/missile per ISIS Jihadi... And they missed... EVERY SINGLE ONE! I think if they were blindfolded and just dropped completely at random they'd have had more effect.

That's also a pretty fucking expensive way to try to kill 30,000 men. How much is each bomb? $100k?

The only credible explanation is Russia's. They're not bombing them. Again. Putin quite simply tells the truth and the American military and media lie.
