Donald Trump brought the wrath, ire, and contempt of the mainstream political establishment down on his head yesterday. He called for a “total and complete shutdown on Muslims entering the United States.”
Most commentators quickly condemned him, pointing out that such a ban would be unconstitutional and completely against the principles on which the nation was founded.

But in a spirit of pure mischief (a blustery billionaire hardly qualifies for our customary support for die-hards, lost causes, and underdogs), we rush to the defense of “The Donald.”
Yes, his proposal is reckless, stupid, unworkable, unfair, and un-American. But it might not be unpopular. Give the man credit. He’s running for president. To win, he needs the votes of people who are at least as block-headed as he is.
In that respect (perhaps the only respect) his latest proposal may not be a bad idea. Also, making preposterous and outrageous proposals hardly disqualifies you for the White House.
Some of our “best” presidents – at least, according to historians and the public – were those who did the looniest things... things that were completely at odds with the Constitution, the spirit of liberty, and their own policy goals.
President Lincoln told the crowd at Gettysburg that his war against the South was in line with the Declaration of Independence, which clearly asserted the right of a people to choose their own government.
The war would determine, he said, whether “that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure.” The answer was “no.” And he made sure of it.

By the standards set by Lincoln and Wilson, Donald Trump has the capacity to be one of our greatest leaders.

Why not eliminate the personal income tax and put ALL the taxes on corporations? They have the wherewithal to handle the accounting, and this frees the individual from having to worry about it. The corporations are already employing people to do all this compliance, it would just remove the burden from the people.
Tax organizations, not people. Or just give up and admit that taxes are about controlling people, not funding the "government". Governments don't need to rob people if the government needs more of its own worthless currency.
In reality corporations don't really pay taxes. The customers pay the corporation's taxes. The higher price is simply passed on to you the consumer.
Better is to have zero corporate taxes because it would attract foreign corporations which would increase jobs.
As or individual taxes, A Fair Tax would mean people wouldn't have to file income taxes at all. They would just pay afederal sales tax.
Supposedly the prices of the goods would not costany more than they do now because corporations would not be paying taxes other than to collect the sales tax and pass that money on to the government.
So if you made $1,000 a week, instead of getting maybe $800 in your check, you'd receive $1,000. That's $200 more per week to spend.
BTW, with the Fair Tax, low income people would receive a prebate to cover the sales taxes, so they would not have to pay any net taxes.

By the time the next US President takes over, the US economy would have collapsed and the US$ in the toilet and on the way to being flushed. The US government provided entitlements won't mean a thing since the US$ would be in a hyperinflation mode. US will be able to import little since its exports will fetch it only the US$ already stocked outside the US. The US middle class will get wiped out and the US will enter neo-feudalism with a tiny minority of ultra rich and a vast underclass (employed and unemployed).
If an establishment candidate wins, the gold in private hands will be confiscated to pay for imports, while they institute a new currency probably in a monetray union with Canada and Mexico also allowing free movement of people, goods and capital within the union and begin the game with a clean slate.
If Trump becomes the President, since an EU style union that includes Mexico is not a possibility, the US will probably make gold legal tender and scrap the legal tender status of the US$. For most people it won't make a difference, since they won't be earning anything to pay tax on. Most state and local governments will stop functioning since they won't have any income to pay the employees. Voting rights may be restricted tax payers as in the good old USA and America will be truly made great again i.e. restored to what it was when it began. Trump won't have to worry about banning anyone from entering, since there will be few looking to enter the US anyway.
