Declassified U.S. Government Report on Fukushima: “100% of The Total Spent Fuel Was Released to the Atmosphere from Unit 4”

George Washington's picture

We reported in 2011 that the International Atomic Energy Commission knew within weeks that Fukushima had melted down … but failed and refused to tell the public.

The same year, we reported in 2011 that the U.S. knew within days of the Fukushima accident that Fukushima had melted down … but failed to tell the public.

We noted in 2012:

The fuel pools and rods at Fukushima appear to have “boiled”, caught fire and/or exploded soon after the earthquake knocked out power systems. See this, this, this, this and this.

Now, a declassified report written by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission on March 18, 2011 – one week after the tidal wave hit Fukushima – states:

The source term provided to NARAC was: (1) 25% of the total fuel in unit 2 released to the atmosphere, (2) 50% of the total spent fuel from unit 3 was released to the atmosphere, and (3) 100% of the total spent fuel was released to the atmosphere from unit 4.

FukushimaNARAC is the the U.S. National Atmospheric Release Advisory Center, located at the University of California’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. NARAC “provides tools and services that map the probable spread of hazardous material accidentally or intentionally released into the atmosphere“.

The fuel pools at Units 3 and 4 contained enormous amounts of radiation.

For example, there was “more cesium in that [Unit 4] fuel pool than in all 800 nuclear bombs exploded above ground.”

Use iodiozed salt to reduce I 131 Use Pottasium cupplement to reduce Cesium levels, use Calcium supplements to reduce Strontium/uranium uptake.

Take 5 minutes folks.    There is undeniable proof that over 100 tons of radioactive material were jettisoned into the atmosphere.

The EPA released data showing uranium in air after Fukushima, in density per Meter Cubed.    By multiplying by a volume of air, you can know the weight of what was released.    This site has done that calculation.   Please review it.   Then you never have to se4cond guess "did it really happen">   It did really happen.

And we are paying the price.

GW, when you print articles such as this, we want to know who the fascist bastards are behind the curtain. Print the names and everything you know about the members of the EPA and Atomic Regulation Commission so they will be targeted for accountability and recall.

Any tips on cancer PREVENTION ??
Much appreciated,
DD

Not prevention per se, but some heavy reading about the mechanism of cancer. The first book is written for popular consumption, the second book, written for scientists by a scientist.

The first book gives an understanding why even prevention must be tailored to individual genetics. IMHO since cancers are never detected on day one, but only after cells have sufficiently multiplied to interfere in body processes, the diet discussed to reduce the health of cancer cells might be a consideration for people with genetic propensity to cancers, at least to be applied intermittently

The next book is the text written by the scientist Thomas N Seyfried

There was pretty extensive video coverage of the now completed spent fuel recovery from the reactor 4 site and there is ongoing coverage of the progress in cleaning up the reactor 3 spent fuel pool, which is expected to begin next year.

The NRC at the time was headed by Greg Jaczko, who also said at the time that the reactor 3 spent fuel pool had boiled dry, which caused the Japanese to do a kamikaze water drop by helicopter. Fortunately, Mr Jaczko and the NRC were wrong in these assessments, the fuel is still there and the pool was adequately full throughout the accident.

Japan is doing a creditable job imho cleaning up the worst commercial nuclear disaster in history. We don't help make things better by inflating fictions in this manner. It just diverts attention from current disasters, such as the Samarco catastrophe.

Are you fucking kidding me?

3 coriums disssolving in an underground river, and the keystone kops are making "ice walls" that don't work.

They have killed the Pacific, or damn close at least.

That doesn't wash with this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fukushima_Daiichi_units_4,_5_and_6

When the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster began on 11 March 2011, reactor unit 4 was shut down and all fuel rods had been transferred to the spent fuel pool on an upper floor of the reactor building. On 15 March, an explosion damaged the fourth floor rooftop area of the unit 4 reactor; the source of the explosion is still unknown, although it is speculated to be due to hydrogen generation in the spent fuel pool. Japan's nuclear safety agency NISA reported two large holes in a wall of the outer building of unit 4 after the explosion. It was reported that water in the spent fuel pool might be boiling. Radiation inside the unit 4 control room prevented workers from staying there permanently. Visual inspection of the spent fuel pool of reactor 4 on 30 April showed that there was no significant visible damage to the fuel rods in the pool.

like the K-T boundry defined one ELE, we will have a Cs-boundry, to determine when human extinction began.

Thx GW, you have held a light on this disaster from day 1.

Where is a MAP of the projected or, better yet, measured fallout pattern of all of that Cs-137? One MUST exist somewhere.

Yep...the good ol' folks at the EPA.  Those jackoffs turned off air monitoring stations and raised the levels of 'safe' radiation (like there is such a thing).

I wish the guy who trolled me a couple years ago, when I was writting here all about the melted cores and the spent fuel fires and explosions, would come back again right now and tell me all about how " Jack Burton doesn't know shit, he is an idiot, fucking know nothing about nuclear reators, shut up idiot know nothing!"

Funny how the troll shoots of his mouth. I get proven right, and they never are seen again. Who really was the know nothing? The troll obviously worked in the nuclear industry, you could tell by his attitude. He was talking his book!

Fuku Ben's picture

That might been the same jerk off that was trolling me when I started posting the studies that were done about a year after the meltdowns. Including one study done around the local area in by the reactors and written in Japanese. He replied very fast so he must be able to read Japanese fluently. He started blasting me saying look the study says 0 for increases in cancer or thyroid problems due to Fukushima.

When I pointed out that if the event actually occurred then 0 cases is an outright propaganda lie and complete bullshit he didn't respond. Anyone with common sense knows there is no way would there be 0 cases after a year with that much radiation.

There's a guy in the US on the West coast that has been reporting on the effects locally. He's been getting targeted legally lately to try and shut him up. There's no shortage of psychopaths willing to screw with anyone trying to share or get some truth.

windcatcher's picture

In reply to Fuku Ben: The guy you were referring to is Dana that has had the hell hammered out of him by the fascist in authority for reporting the effects of Fukushima radiation on the Canadian west coast.

They don't want the public to know they are the worst offenders of rampant pollution.

Some conflicted assholes have created so much poison in our shared home that, indeed, we will succeed at the ele. For every vector we have radiation, voc's, pesticides & herbicides, and on and on, and all increasing.

It's for the children.

What did you think prompted the EPA to raise the safe radiation levels?

 Hey,

don't knock it!

You should thank them for making sure everyone was kept "safe".

NoWayJose's picture

Don't worry - Mother Nature has a way of cleansing herself. In 25,000 years all traces of the Fukushima cesium will be gone - except for that which is contained in the bones of the millions of cancer victims who died between 2015 and 2257.

NotApplicable's picture

I like that part about "intervention actions." Instead of any of those happening, they simply quit monitoring.

rsnoble's picture

I'm pretty sure threatening news sources with treason and imprisonment for reporting the truth could be considered 'intervention'.

I know, the wood stoves killed the ocean and we need to hurry up and get our carbon tax scheme brewing and make more trillions!

rsnoble's picture

And btw, the lies and coverup worked.  Very little outrage.  I don't even know anyone in person that would even want to talk about.  As long as it's not affecting them at a rate they can see it's a non issue for most people.

A very old friend married Dr Harvey Slatin, who worked on the enrichment chemistry AT the MANHATTAN PROJECT.
After witnessing the aftermath of what he had created in 1945, Dr Slatin took a vow to never use his talents to create weapons again.

He lived to witness the Fukyshima event and we exchanged messages about this.  We agreed that THAT design Westinghouse reactor, could NOT do a china syndrome, no matter what happenned.

-----

...  no matter what happenned IF the fuel rods were constructed to Westinghouse design specs.

The melt down puzzled Dr Slatin, until we learned that Japan was running a secret plutonium enrichment program. Google MOX fuel. The reactor fuel rods were NOT designed to use plutonium, - the energy of the neutron released from Pu is higher than from uranium, and embrittled the entire structure

And the rest is an Extinction Event.

Crocodile's picture

Here is the extinction event that will be certain to happen as is all that is written that has already come to pass; the how and the why of it.

They willfully ignore this (good start): long ago the heavens and the earth existed out of water and through water by the word of God. Through these the world of that time perished when it was flooded by water. (no place on earth can evidence not be found except for the blind)

But by the same word the present heavens and earth are held in store for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. Dear friends, don't let this one thing escape you: with the Lord one day is like 1,000 years, and 1,000 years like one day. (Why? God lives in an eternal state - absence of time; therefore time doesn't matter)

The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief; on that day the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, the elements will burn and be dissolved, and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed (utterly destroyed). Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, [it is clear] what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness- 2Peter 3

Cautiously Pessimistic's picture

I wonder what has become of those sailors that got blasted with radiation on the deck of USS Ronald Reagan?  That story has sort fallen through the cracks ... purposely so I am sure.  They had a lawsuit going against Japan/Tepco.  Have you heard anything recent on this GW??

theblackknight's picture

If I remember correctly the ships pulled in contaminated sea water into the desal systems. They were showering with reactor runoff.

1033eruth's picture

They weren't blasted.  They withdrew when the rads became ominous.

You honestly think they didn't have any detection equipment with them?  You honestly think that the Captain would park his ship in a high radiation zone and just "hang out" for a while?

Ronald Reagan is a nuclear aircraft carrier so of course they had detection equipment.

This is the only "On a long enough timesline..." event.

Most of our world problems can in theory be resolved if we unite, Fukushima alas is either a centuries long project or our ticket to extinction.

Russia is ready to install a filter pump for 300 tons water per day - waste is currently 400 daily, so if this works will be an improvment but what about the 600 000 tons stored in plastic sacks?

Pacific dead, cancer rates rising across northern hemisphere, fish gone animals gone.

Humanity may yet be able to rise to the occasion but it really dont look too likely.
