Trump Polling Lead Surges After Anti-Muslim Comments

Tyler Durden's picture

Donald Trump, GOP frontrunner and self-styled anti-establishment candidate, knows how to entertain.

He also understands that he has built a political brand which garners momentum from the very type of controversy that would sink any other candidate in the field.

When you put those two things together, you have a recipe for bombastic rhetoric designed to hold the electorate in a perpetual state of shock and embed a tiny voice that says “you know, maybe he’s right” in the back of voters’ collective mind.

The genius of Trump is that he’s been remarkably adept at making voters question whether what he says is actually crazy or just sounds that way because Americans have been conditioned to recoil at anything that breaks decorum or sounds like it might not be “PC.” And that plays right into his message. He makes you wonder if it’s you that’s the crazy one. Perhaps you’ve been put in a stupor by years of watered down stump speeches and Trump is just speaking plainly and saying what everyone knows is true but is too scared to say in public. If that’s true, he’s a kind of nationalistic Morpheus trying to pull you out of a dangerous, misplaced multiculturalism Matrix. Or at least that’s what he wants you to think. It could be that he is exactly what his detractors say he is: a demagogue that’s stark raving mad.

As we said earlier this week, voters will ultimately decide what Trump is or isn’t and render their judgement at the polls and make no mistake, the Donald’s controversial suggestion that Muslims should be banned from entering the country has resonated with large swaths of the electorate and a new poll shows that in South Carolina, Trump has opened up a commanding lead since creating a firestorm on Monday.

“It’s no wonder Trump is leading,” GOP mouthpiece Fox News (which has had its differences with Trump this year) says. “He’s ahead among both those who prioritize national security and economic issues.  He’s the top pick among voters on the two most important candidate qualities -- strong leader and, to a lesser degree, honest and trustworthy.  Plus, he’s considered the most electable -- by a lot.”

The poll surveyed 437 likely Republican primary voters by phone from December 5-8. Here are the numbers at a glance:

  • Trump: 35%
  • Carson: 15%
  • Cruz: 14%
  • Rubio: 14%
  • Bush: 5%

Don’t even ask about the rest of the field.

Here’s more from Fox

There’s no gender gap in Trump’s support, as about a third of men (37 percent) and women (32 percent) GOP voters make him their first choice.

The favorites among white evangelical Christians voting in the GOP primary are Trump (34 percent), Carson (18 percent), Cruz (15 percent) and Rubio (12 percent).

Trump holds a wide lead among voters who say national security is their top issue.  He receives 32 percent -- twice the support for Carson, Cruz and Rubio, who each get 16 percent among national security voters.

And those who prioritize economic issues back the same four candidates:  Trump (32 percent), Rubio (14 percent), Carson (12 percent) and Cruz (12 percent).

[In a] 48 percent landslide, Trump got [the nod] when GOP primary voters are asked which Republican candidate is “most qualified” to handle the economy.  No other candidate even garners double digits on this measure.  The next closest are Bush and Cruz at 9 percent each, followed by Rubio at 8 percent.

Strong leadership is the top trait GOP primary voters want in their party’s nominee (26 percent).

Voters who say strong leadership is the most important trait are most likely to support Trump by a wide 23-point margin.

GOP primary voters think Trump is the Republican most likely to beat Clinton in the general election next year. Some 42 percent feel that way.  Next is Rubio at 14 percent.

As for the Democratic ticket, the poll showed that as far as South Carolina voters are concerned, Clinton is essentially running unopposed.

And the punchline: "It looks like his [Muslin ban] comments helped him in South Carolina.  Support for Trump increased eight points after his statement -- from 30 percent the first two nights vs. 38 percent the last two nights."

Trump is also surging in the national polls. According to the latest New York Times, CBS poll, Trump’s support among Republican primary voters has gained 13 pts to 35%, his highest level yet.

"From Bush on..."? have a look at the very first foreign friendship and alliance of the United States of America:

the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moroccan–American_Treaty_of_Friendship of 1777

signatories: Thomas Jefferson and John Adams

Something tells me they would both just shaken their heads about this discussion. Just saying

following this treaty, the US Navy engaged in... Tripoli, Libya. see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Barbary_War

you can see it as you want, the first formal ally of the US was a muslim

one of the first voluntary engagements of the US overseas was against... muslims

Obviously I'm referring to our current paradigm and our government's perspectives on Islam. The world has been at war with everyone since the beginning of time so its a far stretch to conclude America has been anti Islam any more so than any other group. Those who love war are not particullarly discriminate as its more of a whack a mole opportunistic endeavor.

well he said this so perhaps a little eye wash for the eyes wide shut crowd..

"Americans have been programmed to hate muslims ever since 9-11, why the backlash now? "

1. paris, all of me, boston, now california, and the shooting of soldiers in texas mass murder, constant mulla's saying death to america, and we are the great satan..

2. uncontrolled immigration with cries now for sharia in america from the muslim's now here

3. a better understanding of the koran by us who never needed to know about it prior to the NWO's mass immigration support.

4. muslims now in our communities and the dis respect they show all non muslims is less well hidden now. as their numbers grow.

how's that for an answer other than we are trained to hate by .gov

And by the content of their character so shall they be judged. Not by the color of their skin or which sky father to whom they kneel.

And in this case, it's pretty easy to judge that mohameddans have no place in a secular society.  And since I happen to be a citizen, do not wish to live in a theocracy, have free will, and firearms -- I will not live in a theocracy. I will not submit. And my daughters will not wear burhkas.

In fact the odds are that the pendulum is giong to swing back so hard its going to knock a fucking hole in the wall.

Then we can get with the pogrom and make America great again.

GET WITH THE POGROM!

My brother in law is muslim.  He says he never had any issues.  People love him.  He works in the construction industry in the south.

Who's been programmed to hate muslims?    If anything it is the opposite.   The gov goes out of its way to not cast shadows on anything remotely muslim.  Look at the latest two murderous creeps in Cali; as soon as the media realized they weren't white, their attitude changed.  Now they want to look at root causes and not rush to judgement.   "the couple was radicalized"  whatever that means.  wasn't their fault, I guess.

You either administer the programming, or you take to it very well.

I bet you even, "feel the bern".....

oh, and I haven't heard trump say anything anti-muslim.    When someone says he did, I know that that person gets their info second hand. Unfortunately, a lot of folks who write or report in public forums evidently get their info second hand, then pass it on publicly.   You can easily see and hear what trump says, just youtube it.   He said no more muslims alowed in.   I have now heard that twisted into ,"he said if a muslim citizen leaves the country, he can't come back !!!!"

no.... he didn't say that.....at all.....

Nope, you are dead wrong ……....I think it is mainly due to the Islamists making about a zillion YouTube Beheading videos, 30-40 Gays off the roof Videos, 3-4 T-55 Tanks running over prisoner's heads Videos  + the Video of burning a Jordanian Pilot alive that tipped the scales.

Yep, The Donald has opened the flood gates.  Now the little peeps get to have their say.  Across the world too!  Wait fro Sweden, Norway, even some Germans to slowly jump on the band wagon.  France is already moving in that direction.  And I am thinking it might even spread to Southeast Asia.

If only the semi normal Muslims had stood up to the radical nut-jobs years ago then things might have been a little different.

I assume that when you refer to "semi normal" you mean relative to western values, NOT the teachings of Muhammad in praise of Allah. Those following the Quran ARE normal to Islam. Those who choose to ignore the more violent leanings are the radicals, the reformers. Lets support them by encouraging (forcing if necessary) them to reject openly and vehemently those who believe that to kill in the name of Allah is supreme.

Deuteronomy 7New International Version (NIV)

Driving Out the Nations
7 When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you— 2 and when the Lord your God has delivered them over to you and you have defeated them, then you must destroy them totally.[a] Make no treaty with them, and show them no mercy. 3 Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons, 4 for they will turn your children away from following me to serve other gods, and the Lord’s anger will burn against you and will quickly destroy you. 5 This is what you are to do to them: Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones, cut down their Asherah poles[b] and burn their idols in the fire. 6 For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.

7 The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. 8 But it was because the Lord loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. 10 But

those who hate him he will repay to their face by destruction;
he will not be slow to repay to their face those who hate him.
11 Therefore, take care to follow the commands, decrees and laws I give you today.

12 If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the Lord your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors. 13 He will love you and bless you and increase your numbers. He will bless the fruit of your womb, the crops of your land—your grain, new wine and olive oil—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you. 14 You will be blessed more than any other people; none of your men or women will be childless, nor will any of your livestock be without young. 15 The Lord will keep you free from every disease. He will not inflict on you the horrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all who hate you. 16 You must destroy all the peoples the Lord your God gives over to you. Do not look on them with pity and do not serve their gods, for that will be a snare to you.

17 You may say to yourselves, “These nations are stronger than we are. How can we drive them out?” 18 But do not be afraid of them; remember well what the Lord your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt. 19 You saw with your own eyes the great trials, the signs and wonders, the mighty hand and outstretched arm, with which the Lord your God brought you out. The Lord your God will do the same to all the peoples you now fear. 20 Moreover, the Lord your God will send the hornet among them until even the survivors who hide from you have perished. 21 Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God. 22 The Lord your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little. You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you. 23 But the Lord your God will deliver them over to you, throwing them into great confusion until they are destroyed. 24 He will give their kings into your hand, and you will wipe out their names from under heaven. No one will be able to stand up against you; you will destroy them. 25 The images of their gods you are to burn in the fire. Do not covet the silver and gold on them, and do not take it for yourselves, or you will be ensnared by it, for it is detestable to the Lord your God. 26 Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.

Footnotes:

Deuteronomy 7:2 The Hebrew term refers to the irrevocable giving over of things or persons to the Lord, often by totally destroying them; also in verse 26.

Muslims would do well to become more ignorant of their holy book as the Christians have. Really, just adopt Western values (pre-Progressive push). The Koran is pretty long. I'm sure they can find justification for it somewhere in there, as we have.

When's the last time you saw a Christian stoning a homosexual to death? Or killing someone for eating meat on a Friday? Lots of crazy shit in that book, but we ignore the parts that are inconvenient to modern society. That is the best course for all religions based off of the ramblings of Bronze Age crazy people.

One good thing I can imagine coming from all this insanity : we have enormous documentation of the events and people's reactions. At least if we can filter all the Hasbara crap.

So next time, the many studies of what propaganda memes work and how will be more detailed, and their actual effects on people of particular nationalities.  Are Americans more gullible than the French, for example.

Now, we have to depend on the many quotes from the great propagandists about how easy it is, how governments always get their wars via false flags and hatred.

Do you really want this?

Fights, fury and the Ku Klux Klan: Finland faces wave of vigilante mobs targeting migrants as arrest of an Afghan asylum seeker for rape of 14-year-old schoolgirl pushes one town to the brink
  • In the town of Kempele, tension between locals and asylum seekers is rising after a 14-year-old girl was raped
  • Happened fortnight after youth migrant centre opened in town to mass opposition and 17-year-old refugee charged
  • Across Finland similar cases have sparked panic, with human chains blocking refugees at the country's borders
  • Even some MPs are demanding asylum seekers leave country and put an end to 'nightmare called multiculturalism'

There is a sense of tension in the pretty, snow-covered Finnish town - an underlying fear which makes parents hold their children a little closer, and angry resentment towards the group of young men who arrived just a month ago.

Kempele, almost 400 miles north of Helsinki, is usually a place where 17,000 unassuming townfolk while away the hours playing ice hockey.

But that peaceful existence has been ripped apart by the rape of a 14-year-old girl as she walked home on a Monday night a fortnight ago.

The alleged culprit is one of the young men living at a migrant centre, which locals did not want in the first place.

But far from being an anomaly, Kempele - which saw hundreds take to the streets in an anti-immigration march last weekend - has become a snapshot of a country where people patrol the streets in vigilante mobs, block people crossing the border and even dress as the Ku Klux Klan at angry protests against the influx of refugees.

The situation is not so tense in some parts of the country. MailOnline went 10 miles north of Kempele to Oulu where migrants at the Vallinkorva are living quietly and say they have been made to feel welcome in the town after fleeing the war-torn countries of Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.

And the country's Prime Minister Juha Sipilä has offered newcomers a warm welcome - and even said they can use one of his homes in Kempele, where he was born, to use as emergency accommodation.

if most everything else the msm (including fox) spews at us is propaganda, then why aren't all these polls propaganda as well?  they are published to make people feel a certain way via electronic peer pressure.  polls are as believable as the results that are spewed from an electronic ballot box...

polls are like statistics and statistics are like bikinis: what they reveal is tantalizing, but what they conceal is crucial...

everyone branded w as a conservative, but under his watch we got the most overtly repressive legislation in recent memory in the patriot act...

Comparing Trump to Ron Paul is absurd.

Remember, Ron Paul was TERRIBLE for ratings. I loved him but he had the media presence of a dead fish. As far as the media was concerned, Ron Paul was bad for business, and bad for politics, so they lost interest.

The problem is, the media CAN'T put Donald into the "Ron Paul blackout zone". Because Donald turns the media against itself. Remember, the media is composed of two parts: the business side, and the political side.

The business side is in it to make a buck, and The Donald is making them rich. To say he is good for ratings is the understatement of the year.

Now, Trump has pitted the media's business guys against the media's political commissars. Until they can figure out how to get their ships sailing in the same direction, Trump is going to ride this tiger for all it's worth.

Anybody who has paid attention to Trump over the last 30 years understands the following:

(1) He is entirely his own man. Not a creation of, or beholden to, any corporation, bureaucracy, or political party. Think about how unusual that is in 21st century America.

(2) He has always had an antagonistic relationship with the media and the east coast elites-- which puts him on common ground with the average American, who the media and the political and commercial elites have come to despise in the last 25 years.

(3) If you want to learn how to successfully manipulate politicians, bankers, bureaucrats, and union people, developing real estate in New York City is about the best training ground you could ask for. Given that the US is now run by a coalition of politicians, bureaucrats, bankers, and public service unions, Trump is about as well-qualified to serve as President as any man since George Washington. Sounds ridiculous? Think about it carefully.

(4) He went into the media business and learned how to beat the media at their own game. Think how crucial a leadership skill this is in the 21st century.

(5) He genuinely seems to love America as a land of opportunity. Which again puts him at odds with the corporate and political elite, who look at America as a land of social experimentation.

While someone pissing in my oatmeal may not kill me, I find it in bad "taste" and reject it....nationally if I must.

Our whole fucking world is revolving round insurance....everything is about hedging, banking against loss. Our government's whole purpose in being is supposedly to protect us,

YET, when someone suggests that the importation of Muslims constitutes a threat, even a small one, it is rejected completely out of hand as some crackpot hater knee jerk reaction, and sadly it is those who would welcome these people WHO HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER AMERICA OR ANYWHERE ELSE, who would happily see those of us who resist, imprisoned or otherwise socially excluded from our own country. and it is their very liberal ideology that so many Muslims despise.

We are embracing thousands of Muslims into our country when supposedly they hate us for our invasion of theirs. Does any of this make any sense to anyone except those so buried in their Utopian ideology that they can't see beyond their blinders? At the very least, if they are going to attempt to live within these confines of delusion, they could at least develop a coherent theme to explain exactly why they are so willing to embrace those who they also believe hate us principally due to our involvement in their country and their religion.

And with a little bit of googling you could have found out why...

CNN and/or other sources...

Washington (CNN)Donald Trump said Thursday that he is postponing his trip to Israel, just a day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned his proposal to ban U.S. travel for all Muslims.

"I have decided to postpone my trip to Israel and to schedule my meeting with @Netanyahu at a later date after I become President of the U.S.," Trump tweeted.

Trump had planned to meet with Netanyahu December 28 in Israel, according to an Israeli government official, but shortly after the meeting was reported, Netanyahu's office condemned Trump's comments about Muslims.

"Prime Minister Netanyahu rejects Donald Trump's recent remarks about Muslims," according to a statement issued by the prime minister's office.

"The State of Israel respects all religions and strictly guarantees the rights of all its citizens. At the same time, Israel is fighting against militant Islam that targets Muslims, Christians and Jews alike and threatens the entire world," the statement said.

Netanyahu came under fire from dozens of members of the Israeli parliament for planning to host the controversial GOP presidential front-runner. They called on the Prime Minister to cancel his meeting with the billionaire businessman.

The Continuum of Depravity

With President Obama's Sunday night speech, and with the Pentagon's Ashton Carter's follow-up speech, the USA continues its long support for Sunni terrorists, this time in Syria.

Beginning with Jimmy Carter throwing in with the head-choppers of Saudi Arabia, to destabilize the then-secular government of Afghanistan (when women worked, and didn't dress in burkhas, check it out some time, historical illiterates), and the continued support of Sunni terrorists by Reagan, Bush 1 and 2, Clinton and now Obama, the US has recently spent over $1 billion to train thousands of ISIS and al Qaeda in Syria.

Yes, they were supposed to be "rebels" but as soon as their training was finished and their weapons handed them, they joined with either al Qaeda of Syria or ISIS.

Now, Obama wants to continue doing the same.

But some so-called newsy whorescum, or Atlantic Magazine whorescum, or academia whorescum, wishes us to believe that things aren't that bad, since we've yet to have had another 9/11 --- but since specific groups of people died aboard three of those five airliners (yes, five were meant to be operational --- read Lynn Spencer's book, Touching History), the operation planners, developers of remote piloting hardware and software, etc., it might be awhile before another such operation is feasible, after all.

This depravity must end --- no more support by the American taxpayer, or any corrupt and crooked American president --- no matter their deep man-love for the head-choppers of Saudi Arabia --- for the financing, training and arming of Sunni terrorists!

The Continuum of Depravity

With President Obama's Sunday night speech, and with the Pentagon's Ashton Carter's follow-up speech, the USA continues its long support for Sunni terrorists, this time in Syria.

Beginning with Jimmy Carter throwing in with the head-choppers of Saudi Arabia, to destabilize the then-secular government of Afghanistan (when women worked, and didn't dress in burkhas, check it out some time, historically illiterates), and the continued support of Sunni terrorists by Reagan, Bush 1 and 2, Clinton and now Obama, the US has recently spent over $1 billion to train thousands of ISIS and al Qaeda in Syria.

Trump speaks the truth about a lot of things. Particularly Islam. It's only shocking to the evil fools in the lamestream media.

But, but, but ... the Muzzies are good and kind and loving and peaceful when they want to come into our countries.  They're only evil when they live in foreign countries that we "need" to bomb.  My presstitutes told me so.

All Trump has to do now is push all his chips in and say he wants to treat Islaminals like Charles Martel and Vlad Tepes did and it's all over but the swearing in.

Complete and total BS Israeli-Neocon propaganda, as above.

I have been reading a ton of comments, and see a pattern.

Hasbara replies are fairly easy to pick out, they have a few common tricks.

This seems a type.  Single line, standard phrases like 'speaks the truth' and "evil fools in the media', lamestream was creative.

And, of course, MSM has been very largely doing what the Israeli-Neocons want, and our disgust with that is taken advantage of by this very nice one-liner.

I would say hasbara, tho I must admit it is my brain seeing a pattern tht may not be there.  But you know, I don't meet nearly as many simple people in real life as I see here in ZH comments.

I'm a radical progressive --- never voted republiCON in my life, and last time I voted dem it was back in 1996 for Clinton and that was the LAST time (either Green Party or SAP, last time I voted for Dr. Jill Stein, time before for Cynthia McKinney) --- but I agree fully with Blue Dog's comments.

And the NY Daily News and the NY Times, both down with sharia law, called Trump a Nazi, so I pose this simple question to those rags, assuming there is EVEN ONE REMAINING REPORTER on staff:

Of the top 50 people at the CIA, how many had parents who were part of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich??

Simple question, if nobody has anything to hide. . .

Propaganda press can't even conceive that they have lost this one. Won't ever see a good accurate anger against the press poll or headline. Everyone knows press in the US is corporate owned and controlled down to the blue-eye blonde bombshells selected to spoon feed their feces to us. What a shame!

If Trump continues to gain in the polls, he will not only be banned in the UK but throughout the EU.  Already he was worse than Voldermort.  Now he will be worse than Hitler:

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s call for a ban on Muslims entering the United States, either as immigrants or visitors, has ignited a political firestorm. Trump’s open appeal to the most reactionary, racist and fascistic sentiments has created a political crisis for the American ruling elite.

His crude rhetoric shatters the official pretense that America is the defender of “freedom” and “democracy,” which has been used by Democratic and Republican administrations alike to justify imperialist wars and interventions throughout the Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa. Trump rips off this democratic mask. He stands openly for the violent suppression of anyone who might dare to oppose the demands of corporate America, either abroad or at home.

This accounts for the volley of denunciations of Trump from a wide array of spokesmen for the US political establishment. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Trump’s proposal “disqualifies him from serving as president.” Earnest called his rhetoric “harmful to the country,” saying it made it harder to “work in partnership” with American Muslim leaders to identify potential threats.

disclaimer: I do not follow much what the American media is talking about Trump

nevertheless, I had an interesting series of chats with other Europeans about The Donald (this one phrase of him made it to jump across the pond into our news), and we all noticed one thing: his sentence had two parts

in the first, he proposes a new policy: do not let the Muslims in...

in the second, he put a qualifier to the whole: "... until we know what the hell is going on"

and for some reason we all agreed that this part of the sentence is the more important one. after all, the first part could have been a "do not let *anybody* get in...", though of course the impact in the media could have been minor, in such a case

this article claims that that part of the American Public that finds the sentence striking a chord in their souls is fed up with PC and American Media bullshit. fine

I have the feeling that the second part strikes even more a chord. not being able to gauge myself, I ask here:

could it be that Donald Trump's phrase was that powerful because it says exactly what millions of Americans are thinking in the second part? i.e. "What the heck is going on?"

and what is the root cause of this? a lying press and media landscape? an utter feeling of not knowing anything about how the Rest of The World feels for America? what? theories welcome

The Genius of Trump:

I watched his video a few times. He is working the presstitute media like a $10 whore. His phrase was: "Donald J. Trump is calling for; ok you got to listen to this, this is, this pretty heavy stuff but its common sense, we have to do it. Remember the poll numbers; 25% 51%; remember the poll numbers. Remember this so listen. Donald J Trump is calling for a total and complete shut down of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what the hell is going on!to block all Muslims entering into the US UNTIL we know what the hell was going on."

English is President Trump's first language and so I think he structured this sentenance very carefully for maximum response from the media. He knows Americans care fuck all about what the rest of the world thinks about America...so he probably just earned about $200 million in media coverage for free because he knew the media would go into a feeding frenzy "listen very carefully".

Meanwhile, he HAS created a national discussion and he HAS put the "Moderate" Muslims on notice they need to start cleaning their own house or he will when he is POTUS.

Bonus: his poll numbers are rising as people ask, "hey, maybe he is right about this."

I think the reason many Americans agreed with this sentence was the first part, and only to a very small extend the second part. The 'what the hell is going on' question is nontheless essential of course but if people ever seriously started asking why, or what, we'd have a revoluation at our hands. And here I'm not just quoting the famous phrase about money creation and monetary policy.

So no, as most of the time I disagree with you Ghordi, the second part is a good add on but it certainly wasn't the trigger that struck a chord and that you can judge by the angry response from MSM and prominent heads who also ignored that 'second half' of the sentence.

Thu, 12/10/2015 - 09:36 | 6903676 Ghordius
Ghordius's picture

wouldn't the very absence of mention of the second part by angry MSM and prominent heads responders be an interesting fact all for itself? isn't the second part the one that really, really attacks the American MSM... directly? by claiming that they disinformed the American Public?

Thu, 12/10/2015 - 10:48 | 6904004 samjam7

Yes now I agree! :) But I doubt too many people will think it through like this. If Schäuble tomorrow said "We need to kick those Greeks temporarily out of the Euro to figure things out", what would the European press be focusing on, the first or the second part. I know it's hypothetic but this example suits in so many cases.

Thu, 12/10/2015 - 11:18 | 6904135 Ghordius

not here, imo. any european minister in power since more then three months would be out inside of one day just for uttering such a second part

we are, after all, the continent that has a soft side for technocracy and technocrats, i.e. the "knowledgeble", the "experts". even when it's only a pretense, mind you

the same applies for a minister saying "we have to apply this law to see how it works out"

compare and contrast with something that leaves us completely cold or even nodding, like "when things become serious, it's my duty to lie"

we aren't alike in many things, I guess, and this is indeed visible in the kind of people we elect. starts with how ugly some of ours are
