Trump Polling Lead Surges After Anti-Muslim Comments

Tyler Durden's picture

Donald Trump, GOP frontrunner and self-styled anti-establishment candidate, knows how to entertain.

He also understands that he has built a political brand which garners momentum from the very type of controversy that would sink any other candidate in the field.

When you put those two things together, you have a recipe for bombastic rhetoric designed to hold the electorate in a perpetual state of shock and embed a tiny voice that says “you know, maybe he’s right” in the back of voters’ collective mind.

The genius of Trump is that he’s been remarkably adept at making voters question whether what he says is actually crazy or just sounds that way because Americans have been conditioned to recoil at anything that breaks decorum or sounds like it might not be “PC.” And that plays right into his message. He makes you wonder if it’s you that’s the crazy one. Perhaps you’ve been put in a stupor by years of watered down stump speeches and Trump is just speaking plainly and saying what everyone knows is true but is too scared to say in public. If that’s true, he’s a kind of nationalistic Morpheus trying to pull you out of a dangerous, misplaced multiculturalism Matrix. Or at least that’s what he wants you to think. It could be that he is exactly what his detractors say he is: a demagogue that’s stark raving mad.

As we said earlier this week, voters will ultimately decide what Trump is or isn’t and render their judgement at the polls and make no mistake, the Donald’s controversial suggestion that Muslims should be banned from entering the country has resonated with large swaths of the electorate and a new poll shows that in South Carolina, Trump has opened up a commanding lead since creating a firestorm on Monday.

“It’s no wonder Trump is leading,” GOP mouthpiece Fox News (which has had its differences with Trump this year) says. “He’s ahead among both those who prioritize national security and economic issues.  He’s the top pick among voters on the two most important candidate qualities -- strong leader and, to a lesser degree, honest and trustworthy.  Plus, he’s considered the most electable -- by a lot.”

The poll surveyed 437 likely Republican primary voters by phone from December 5-8. Here are the numbers at a glance:

  • Trump: 35%
  • Carson: 15%
  • Cruz: 14%
  • Rubio: 14%
  • Bush: 5%

Don’t even ask about the rest of the field.

Here’s more from Fox

There’s no gender gap in Trump’s support, as about a third of men (37 percent) and women (32 percent) GOP voters make him their first choice.

The favorites among white evangelical Christians voting in the GOP primary are Trump (34 percent), Carson (18 percent), Cruz (15 percent) and Rubio (12 percent).

Trump holds a wide lead among voters who say national security is their top issue.  He receives 32 percent -- twice the support for Carson, Cruz and Rubio, who each get 16 percent among national security voters.

And those who prioritize economic issues back the same four candidates:  Trump (32 percent), Rubio (14 percent), Carson (12 percent) and Cruz (12 percent).

[In a] 48 percent landslide, Trump got [the nod] when GOP primary voters are asked which Republican candidate is “most qualified” to handle the economy.  No other candidate even garners double digits on this measure.  The next closest are Bush and Cruz at 9 percent each, followed by Rubio at 8 percent.

Strong leadership is the top trait GOP primary voters want in their party’s nominee (26 percent).

Voters who say strong leadership is the most important trait are most likely to support Trump by a wide 23-point margin.

GOP primary voters think Trump is the Republican most likely to beat Clinton in the general election next year. Some 42 percent feel that way.  Next is Rubio at 14 percent.

As for the Democratic ticket, the poll showed that as far as South Carolina voters are concerned, Clinton is essentially running unopposed.

And the punchline: "It looks like his [Muslin ban] comments helped him in South Carolina.  Support for Trump increased eight points after his statement -- from 30 percent the first two nights vs. 38 percent the last two nights."

Trump is also surging in the national polls. According to the latest New York Times, CBS poll, Trump’s support among Republican primary voters has gained 13 pts to 35%, his highest level yet.

Of course. Trump doing a favour to Netanyahu to spare him embarrassment with his MPs. Would Trump cancel his international trips for anyone else on the planet? Shows from whom he takes his orders. When Israelis find Trump's statements on muzzies uncomfortable, that should give you a clue about the kind of leader he would be.

Better than the last four?

I'm relishing the thought of him walking into each and every alphabet agency, and telling the department heads "You're fired"...

But that's just me. The truth is, we don't know what Trump is thinking under that hair.

Actually my retort was not directed at you, but the poster you replied to.

Interesting that the tweet read "I'll go to Israel when I'm President"... does that sound like someone already in bed w/the Israelis? Not to me, anyway.

What's really amusing is that over the last few days people have been posting about https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1182 Notably section f.

If you take the time to read all of 1182, one can point to any number of sections that could be used to ban muslims from entering the country.

This for example:

(B)Terrorist activities

(bb) a political, social, or other group that endorses or espouses terrorist activity;

Donald Trump scraps planned trip to Israel

"Trump told Fox News there were many reasons he decided to hold off on a trip, among them that he didn't want to put Netanyahu in a bind. "In fact, I did a campaign ad for him, and he's a good man, but I didn't want to put him under pressure," Trump said."

Trump also made remarks that some said promoted Jewish stereotypes. "I know why you're not going to support me: you're not going to support me because I don't want your money," Trump said. "You want to control your own politician." He also said, "I'm a negotiator, like you folks."

When it comes to Jewish ties, no GOP candidate trumps Trump

Presbyterian himself, Republican presidential hopeful’s daughter, two grandkids are Jewish; endorsed Netanyahu; called Obama ‘worst enemy’ of Israel

“I have a Jewish daughter. This wasn’t in the plan, but I’m very glad it happened,” Trump said at the event, held in Manhattan. On Israel, he said, “We love Israel. We will fight for Israel 100 percent, 1,000 percent. It will be there forever.”

“You truly have a great prime minister in Benjamin Netanyahu. He’s a winner, he’s highly respected, he’s highly thought of by all,” Trump said in the 30-second spot. “Vote for Benjamin — terrific guy, terrific leader, great for Israel.”

I guess Trump and Israel are very often in the same sentence.

Fascism is home grown and big business in America. Voting in a demagogue plutocrat who panders to fear, uncertainty and doubt by suggesting he is the one and only great hope America has in these difficult times, Trump is the worst kind of narcissist, a nationalist xenophobe, it is a moral abyss for Americans to support him. Voting for Trump is the moral baseness of, "better our terrorists than theirs". You have hit bottom America, supporting Trump is to support the ugliest aspects of America, it is an endorsement to the Daesh, a propaganda victory for all Muslim extremists and anti-American sentiments worldwide. It also shows the world that many in America are fearful of the world  and Trump is their nationalist strongman, big daddy government. For some Donito Trumpollini is their panic button and Great White Hope. It is a sad day that the piece of shit gets this much free press as he does. American fascism, the proxy armies, the proxy wars, the military industrial complex, the fascist allies (Turkey, Saudi, Israel & other criminal syndicates) are all alive and well.

Your dissection of the Trump phenomen really does a disservice to what he has tapped into.

We're fed up with congress doing nothing.

We're sick of having PC shoved down our throats.

We're tired of being lied to.

And those are just a few starting points.

We're sick of the media and their patronizing confusion over news and personal viewpoints.

Whether he is successful in his quest remains to be seen.  But I applaud the man for giving voice to so many common sense views held by so many.

I bought a speaker this year at a yard sale for 2 bucks. It's a horn-type thing, electric, and works when you power it. (I'll have to rewire though)

Talk about loud! Damn...I'm not sure why I bought it, but I know I have to hook it up to SOMETHING at some point...just because.

How much does that iSpeaker cost? Like 800 dollars or something? I bet it has a piece of fruit on it.

A 798 dollar piece of fruit. Watch me turn it into applesauce with my 2 dollar sound waves.

I still don't know just WHAT Trump is trying to do here...there is a part of me that persists in thinking he is a 'plant' by the Clintons. If so, that would be some Machiavellian planning...

So, maybe not. I do tend to recoil from any theories that imply a true, thinking intelligence to these folks in power. They are all too reactionary to come up with something that far from the playbook. But then, one never knows, do one?

What I DO know is that this man's candidacy is upsetting a lot of folks apple carts. He is taking the discussions off the well-worn path. From where I sit, it looks like the MSM has NOT been able to control the dialogue as they have in the past. A few years ago, a politician who said half of what Trump has would have been sent scurrying to a corner somewhere, scolded by the media talking heads, and marginalized.

But Trump hasn't been responding the usual way. Instead of apologizing, backing down and going on the defensive, he runs full-steam AT the issue, doubles down, stands his ground. And people seem to love that. The media seems lost, not sure HOW to deal with this...the guy is NOT playing by the rules here. They sound more and more querulous, trying to point out his faults that suddenly seem less like liabilities and more like campaign slogans.

They seem confused, like they're asking themselves why 'the people' aren't herding the way they are supposed to. Why aren't they getting outraged at Trump when we point out his racism, fascism, whatever? Why, we've never had to do more than point these things out before...political correctness took care of the rest.

So, he is upsetting the usual way of doing these things, and forcing the players to make last-minute adjustments to a strategy that is suddenly not working the way it always has. This can only be a good thing. The longer it goes on, the greater the chances that someone will screw up, and badly, because they are being forced to 'wing it'...

In any case, this won't be the usual show, and for that alone I'm glad for his candidacy, even if I don't see him as some kind of 'savior'. More like a monkey wrench being thrown into the gears.

Hey, the "machine" was never going to run properly anyway...might as well sabotage it.

I'm not a Trump worshipper but all he has to do to win in a landslide is to announce he will lead a formal mission to arrest and incarcerate Netanyahu.  Personally I favor execution but you gotta do what's more "acceptable".  Then announce that he will join Putin in destroying the fake, created by the CIA "terrorists" ISIS wjile maintaining vigilance against real threats to America's security and it is game over . . . . . . . . unless he gets RFK'ed.

Disclosure: I'm still not sure what side he is truly on.  I'll assume he's Cabal until proven otherwise.

My limits test for all politicians is this: 1. Do they have the courage and guts to dismantal private central banking (would they even audit the fucking thing)? and 2. Do they have the courage and guts to expose the truth about what really happened on 9/11?  Trump may be the lesser of evils if he is truly independent of the TPTB.  He gives the appearance of being so, but so did Obama before he got elected (now Obama looks like their cabin boy).  Would the same thing happen to Trump if he gets elected?  Who knows?  Maybe once you get elected, they bring you into a room and tell you in no uncertain terms that if you don't play ball, you'll end up like Jack Kennedy, or maybe your kids will die in a very unfortunate accident.  Who is going to stand up to that, and risk the lives of themselves and their loved ones?  It would take an extraordinarily brave and courageous individual -- or someone with nothing to lose.  If the U.S. is run by a deep-state, Anglo-Zionist mafia, which it appears to be (just look at what's going on in Syria and Ukraine -- it's too evil to be stupid), then until enough sheeple wake up and smell the napalm, we will continue to be herded around, deceived, misled, manipulated and sacrificed like pawns on a chessboard.

We should call them leftists, because that's what they are.  Just like Mao, the Bolsheviks, take your pick.  They have murder on the mind, as anyone anyone with eyes can discern from their actions.

There are a lot of people that would make a better President that Trump. Trump's big advantage is that Hillary is not one of them.

How about this headline instead: Trump Polling Lead Surges After Pro-American Comments?  We need to demand a change of the narrative from a negative perspective to a positive perspective on things supportive of the country.

I know people democrats that will be voting for Trump. Trump likes Putin and that shows despite his sometimes radical statement he got some brains.

Well, Quran in 164 verses calls for violence/killing/jihad/war. While Jesus Christ didn't call not even once for violence. Jesus gave the commandment "Love one another". His teachings are based on Love. Islam is not based on Love, but submission to the instructions in the Quran. Muhammad married a 9 year old girls Aisha, it is very hard to convince anybody today that he married her to save her from starvation, or that God told him to marry her.

So it is only a matter of time and right conditions for some muslims to answer that call for violence.

We all see how many have answered that call and went to Syria, plus the torrorist acts from China, Russia, Europe all the way to San Bernardino California.

The Quran must be changed and all those negative things removed if we are to take it as a peacefull religion.

When faced with war and possible extermination, I would think we;d want more ass kicking deities rather than a long haired pacifist.

How about some old time Norse religion? Or some Onward Christian Soldiers? Not a Christian myself but I do not wish to see the history and traditions of our people destroyed in the name of amoral semitics.

Gentlemen the time is coming to gird your loins. The black flag will be hoist and there will be much work to do to secure a future for white children.  The other side has done its damnednest to destroy that futrure, and as a father of two I've had it with those who would destroy their future.

Open borders, multiculturalism, free trade globalism, currency debasement, and ever growing government are just some of the things jeoporadizing that future.

Trump says he wants to stop Muslim immigration for awhile, they call him a racist, compare him to Hitler, say he's a fascist, etc.

Obama orders daily drone strikes on Muslims, even takes out a wedding party, gets Nobel Peace Prize.

Many Americans feel Obama is a fascist and the Nobel prize is garbage. It's just Trump is an outwardly xenophobic fascist and his ilk is always easier to spot.

Chris Matthews is the guy who got "a tingle up my leg," listening to Obama's speeches. Even a clueless dork is right once in a while.

People are sick of fucking Muslims. The media hides this and says were all really know it is just one or two bad apples, Islam is a true religion of love and peace. We know different, we don't want those fuckers here, or anywhere near us.

"The media hides this and says were all really know it is just one or two bad apples, Islam is a true religion of love and peace."

This is false. Its a religion of love and peace between Muslims...but even that is not the case in reality if you look at the love between sunni and shia.

If you are Muslim you believe that:

1. A lying, pedofile, illiterate murderer was a profit of god,

2. That the only law that is valid is shyria,

3. That the world must submit to Islam.

That is what you MUST believe as a Muslim. If you don't believe that, you are NOT a Muslim.

There are only 3 problems with the above, each one is a direct violation of stating statutes int eh United States or are direct violation of the Constitution.

The one think I do like about Muslims is that they are very honest about all of this. The Western media wants them to ditch their faith and become Kardishan followers like the rest of the plebs, they refuse and they say so. That should mean they can't come to America, but reality has never been big with the media.

Peace and love my ass.
