US Has Secret, "Non-Negotiable" Plan To Send 100,000 US, Saudi Troops To Iraq, Lawmaker Claims

Tyler Durden's picture

“For every seven Shiites killed, we want seven Sunnis [killed] in their place.”

That rather alarming declaration comes from outspoken Iraqi lawmaker Hanan Al-Fatlawi. Not known for holding her tongue, the Shia MP inflamed sectarian tensions with her eye for an eye tirade in the summer of 2014, prompting Diana Moukalled, the Web Editor at the Lebanon-based Future Television to pen the following sharp rebuke

No one will be safe from the worsening situation in Iraq; and many parties are guilty. But for the prime minister [ZH: al-Maliki at the time] and MPs from his coalition to turn the bloody discourse of sectarian violence into an official language is a major moment in history, 10 years into the experiment that is the new Iraq.

In another infamous TV appearance turned ugly, the firebrand lawmaker was once accused of being an Iranian puppet by a Sunni tribal leader from Anbar (where Iraq is now fighting to wrest control of Ramadi from ISIS). “You should be ashamed of yourselves, a quarter of you came from a broad and you sold Iraq. We don't know you; who are you? we don’t know your origins. We are not leaders of parties or militias, we are tribal leader and we speak for the people.” he said.

In January, Fatlawi withdrew from Maliki's State of Law coalition to form her own political movement called Irada (Arabic for "will"). She’s also suggested - as has Iran - that the US is secretly supporting Islamic State. Here’s an interesting excerpt from an article Huffington Post ran back in March:

“A lot of events happened in multiple places supporting the opinion that the U.S. in one way or another supports ISIS -- giving them food or arms,” Hanan al-Fatlawi, an outspoken Shia member of parliament, said by phone. She has publicly stated that the United States may be secretly throwing its weight behind the extremist Sunni militants who have violently seized control of large swaths of Iraq and Syria. She points to a blast in the restive Anbar province, where Sunni tribesmen are battling ISIS, that killed dozens of Iraqi troops, saying that it was the Americans who killed them. She's not alone in her views.

“Many people in Iraq believe me,” she explained. “They believe that ISIS is probably a baby of the USA or a baby of Israel.”

Al-Fatlawi says she’s suspicious of U.S. involvement in the battle to retake Tikrit that stalled 10 days ago. While Iraqi officials cited the need for more well-trained reinforcements to help clear the heavily booby-trapped city, she has a different story: The United States made Iraqi forces halt the offensive to help ISIS, or so that the Americans could swoop in and save the day, claiming victory as their own.

Most of all, Al-Fatlawi says, she just can’t believe that the United States, with all of its weaponry, military intelligence and international sway, would have this much trouble taking out ISIS. It just doesn’t add up, she says.

Indeed.

Well now, Fatlawi contends that according to "information [she] has from inside the meeting," John McCain last month told PM Haider Al-Abadi that the US, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE are set to send in a total of 100,000 troops to Iraq. Here's a screenshot of Fatlawi's Facebook post

And here's RT with a bit more:

During a meeting in Baghdad on November 27, McCain told Prime Minister Haider Abadi and a number of senior Iraqi cabinet and military officials that the decision was ‘non-negotiable’, claimed Hanan Fatlawi, the head of the opposition Irada Movement.

“A hundred thousand foreign troops, including 90,000 from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar and Jordan, and 10,000 troops from America will be deployed in western regions of Iraq,” she wrote on her Facebook page.

She added that the Iraqi prime minister protested the plan, but was told that “the decision has already been taken.”

As RT goes on to note, that may sound far-fetched but it's not at all inconsistent with what Lindsey Graham (who joined McCain on the trip) said in Iraq and what McCain himself said yesterday in the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing with Ash Carter.

From Graham last month: “Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey – they have regional armies and they would go into the fight if we put [the removal of] Assad on the table. Most of the fight will be done by the region. They will pay for this war."

From McCain on Wednesday: “A small component of American forces with international forces, which could be gathered and then go in and take out this caliphate. If we went in with a large Arab force, with Turks and Egyptians even … there’s 20,000 to 30,000 of them [ISIS fighters], they are not giants.”

Well guess what? The Turks are already there. They arrived with two dozen tanks near Mosul last Friday.

"I've personally reached out to 40 countries," Carter told the committee, which is ironic because that's the exact same number of countries Putin says are supporting ISIS. Here's WaPo

He specifically named the Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia, and Turkey as needing to put more skin in the game. Turkey, Carter said, “must do more” to control its long border with Syria that many ISIS fighters cross undetected, and criticized Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, which had joined “only the air part” of the anti-ISIS campaign in its early days, for becoming “preoccupied” by the conflict in Yemen since.

Yes, "preoccupied" with the conflict in Yemen, which is of course just a proxy war between Riyadh and Tehran, as is the war in Syria. Interestingly, were the Saudis, the UAE, and Qatar to get overtly (as opposed to the covert support they already provide to various Sunni extremists) involved in Iraq, it would be yet another attempt to rollback Iranian influence.

As we've said all along, all of these conflicts are part and parcel of a Mid-East power struggle between Russia and Iran on one side, and the US, Saudi Arabia, and the Gulf states on the other (see here, here, and here). Recall this map which shows Moscow and Tehran encircling the Saudis:

ISIS is simply everyone's excuse for participating in what amounts to a world war. All that's needed to take the "proxy" out of this regional proxy war is for Iran to get overtly involved in Yemen (as opposed to fighting through their Houthi proxies), for Russia to get the airstrike invite from Baghdad, and for the Gulf states to bring planes and troops to Iraq.

You can see why a Shiite lawmaker in Baghdad would be hypersensitive to a plan that allegedly involves an invasion by 100,000 US and Gulf troops.

You ever seen Sunni radicals call out Shiites? They will refer to them as apostate's, zoroastrians, magicians, wizards, worshipers of false idols.. Hell I've even seen them called MORMONS!

On the surface it seems simple, as in who's the next boss - but thanks to ( primary the wahhabi retard gene ) it's morphed into something much more.

If the overt target was ISIS and the covert target was Assad then Russia would have to react.

The whole of the Gulf and Saudi are within range of those pesky little boats in the Caspian with their now well proven and demonstrated Kalibr cruise missiles.

No doubt the Saudis are well aware of just how vulnerable their oil infrastructure is to guerilla attack, perhaps by terrorists who might believe they have been double crossed. One suspects that quite a few people in the world would be pretty happy if Saudi crude output plummeted for a while.

Please, the Putin fan club refuses to take notice.

The target (or one of them) is Assad. That has been clear to the rest of us.  Russia does not react to NATO only the proxy.

Who cares about those boats?  NATO flies into Syria and bombs Syrian troops - no reaction.  Turkey sends troops into Syria and takes ground - no reaction.  The US starts building an air base in NE Syria - no reaction.  Turkey shoots down a Russian jet in Syria - no reaction.  They take down a Russian airliner - no reaction.

As far a the Saudis.  Nothing happened while Iraq, Libya, no Syria were destroyed,  Turkey just moved into Iraq - nothing happened, why would Putin grow a pair against 100,000 US/France/Germany/UK troops?

I know - Now Putin's Gonna Do Something!!  or Putin's Plays Chess That Is Why He Does Nothing!!

This is probably the largest gaffe in US history and foreign policy since the Vietnam war. Possibly transcending it in potential ramifications.

Let me start by saying US foreign policy since the founding of the Deep State officially in 1947 has been more or less a non-stop shit show of spending our treasure and the blood of our young men on awful corporate/bankster wars against the general desires of the populace. Post-9/11 that has become a meth fueled orgy of Clean Break/PNAC Neo-Con fucktardedness. With that said, when I see a European complain about American imperialism, unless they are from Central Europe, Ireland or Scotland my thoughts are usually along the lines of, "go fuck yourself".

Yeah the poor, poor EU member states would NEVER act in an imperialist way. Certainly not for centuries on end fomenting genocide and internecine conflict world wide. Yeah poor old Europe just an innocent group of peaceniks.

Let's see how Europe responds to the US removing all our military protection. I for one am sick of spending our defense budget to protect Europeans who use those savings to live high on the hog because they don't have to spend vast amounts on a military. The US does their dirty work and has for a long, long time

If US is occupying Europe, then we need to start taxing you guys for the stationing of our legions. As tributaries you aren't giving us a whole lot.

Now if the US was instead wasting it's treasure protecting Europe so European elites could focus on diluting and destroying European culture to pave the way for a European centric world government modeled on the EU...well that would just plain make a lot more sense. The US is getting next to nothing out of it's "occupation" of Europe.

Now Germany could say Anglo powers are occupying Germany and that I could buy into. As far as I can tell the US never really got out from under the Brits and their Zionist buddies.

War of 1812, Rothschilds letter to US president about the Bank of the United States and all that. Total surrender to European banking entities occurred in 1913 with the founding of the Fed which is a European banking franchise. Our FED answers to the BIS which is in Europe. Yeah, the US clearly is occupying Europe.

Sir,

In fact we share a common view. It´s really refreshing to meet an American who would be comfortable with Europe re-arming and acting as an independent entity. We are 500 million and our economy is larger than yours. Somehow I have the suspicion that such an entity rolling up it´s sleeves and going to work would make the US policy makers very, very uneasy.

In fact I can point out numerous of instances where previous attempts to do so has been deep-sixed by the State department. Just starting our own space program for military use , such as independent GPS services has met with steadfast opposition from the US. But we did it anyway.

You know - we may arrive at somewhat different conclusions that you will,at times.

Perhaps we will tell Obama that creating , supporting , supplying and protecting Al Qaeda and IS really is not a good idea. And turning Europe into a garrison city for those crazies...we aint gonna have it.

Of course this "refugee crisis" is to the US advantage. After all Putin can´t really bomb them to hell when they live in France. And your administration really covets those fanatics.

De Gaulle was right. And he was constantly undermined by previous US administrations.

You know - you cant´s have it both ways. Either you accept that we may have different views on some things and have the guns to back ourselves up. Or not.

- - -

"A really cool religion, because if you follow it, then you can go around raping, beating, and killing people.  And as long as you confess your sins at the end of the day and repent, you'll go to heaven!!!!!

I masturbate fifteen times a day, but I'm going to heaven because I tell God that I love him, after I'm done!"

Eeeh. I think you somewhat misguidedly is referrin to catholicism. However if you look at indigenous practises within the different world religions I think you will find much higher prevalence of rape, beheadings, cutting off hands, flogging, killing and generally looking at non-adherents of your own religion as grazing cattle and yourself as wolves - this within the followers of Allah.

Now - we will be slowly seeing a development like in Israel with checkpoints and 30 feet high concrete walls and shooting on the spot of transgressors.

I have based on my own observation reevaluated my previous opinion that folks in different parts of the world basically are the same. They are not.

The reason their part of the world is a bottom-less cesspit may in fact be...themselves , their culture and their ideology. And they tend to bring their ingrained view of the world with them when they migrate.

You know - the mafia didn´t originate in the U.S. This is the same on a vastly larger scale.

It´s not us - it´s them. Too bad that US policy makers do not attend music events in Europe. Bodyguards won´t do them any good in such a situation.

But these things are coming your way. Fast.

NPR has the 'tards singing that song now. Hardcore anti-interventionist liberals explain away the crimes of the Magic Negro (similar crimes they had such a problem with in '01 - '08) by saying that the light unto nations only wanted to bring democracy to the lands of our once-favored strongmen, and it just, well...kinda got out of hand - which I believe is bullshit to the nth degree as anyone with any sense would have stopped long after the Iraq debacle (if the actual goal wasn't MIC enrichment, pipeline control or israeli hegemony hidden under the democracy rubric). Ultimately their defense of Magic Negro and his neo-Soviet cohorts is, "we meant well."

In April 2008 Putin put the nuclear option on the table in regards to NATO membership action plan for Georgia and Ukraine, at which point Germany and France came to their senses (temporarily), McCain, not so much.

In August 2008, John McCain's buddy Mikheil Saakashvili instigated the Russo-Georgian War with the Battle of Tskhinvali.  Despite what Putin has said only 4 months earlier, McCain was all for US troops into Georgia and "saving Saakashvili".

Saakashvili is now a wanted criminal in Georgia, and yet is serving in the government of Ukraine, and where McCain is busy war mongering for a troop presence, when he isn't busy trying to kill Americans in Iraq.

THIS. SHIT. NEVER. CHANGES.

John McCain is actually one of the largest threats to world peace, unlike the trivial stuff that the current US President has argued justifies the assassination by drone of US citizens and their families, and yet McCain continues breathing.

Imperialism in the Middle East - A Century of Violence
Whenever the US has acted to impose its will on an occupied country such as vietnam, afghanistan and iraq, its always resulted in strong resistance (often heroic) from the populations affected. After WW2, the US enjoyed good standing amongst the arabs in the middle east, particularly after its intervention in the conflict over the attempted invasion and annexation of Suez canal in 1956. This all ended with its support for israel in the 1967 war, allowing the zionist colonial state to annex more arab land including East Jerusalem. For centuries, the arabs fought the european christian kingdoms for control of Jerusalem, and eventually prevailed. For centuries, Jerusalem was an arab city but now arabs are being squeezed and isolated in an enclave, surrounded by large jewish settlements.
When the US invaded iraq in 2003, the iraqi people had already suffered through years of hardship. After the gulf war had ended in 1991, the US and UK continued to bomb iraq right up to 2003. Now, after 25 years of near constant bombing, the americans are still no closer to exercising control over the sunni tribes of Mesopotamian, either directly or by proxy. And now they're also being bombed by France, Turkey and Russia. This occurs while Europe turns its back on the civilian refugees fleeing the bombing. It appears that the more the imperial powers bomb the sunnis, the more they resist. The arabs have centuries of experience in resisting imperial powers trying to exercise control over their lands. In the last century they refused the rule of subservient govts - govts established by, or propped up and heavily influenced by the western imperial powers. The revolt by the sunnis in syria and iraq has attracted support from sympathizers in other parts of the arab world.
Sadly, division and conflict within the Arab world is mostly of their own making. While religious and political divisions
continue to exist, the imperial powers will continue to exploit them for their own benefit. Lasting peace will only be achieved through the creation of a unified regional order, propelled by the forces of pan-Islam or pan-Arabism. Expelling the imperial powers and taking control of oil production in the region will bring them improved living standards and immense influence in world affairs, something that has eluded the islamic world.
Support from the greater islamic world will obviously greatly aid their cause. There's little the americans can do to prevent the inflow of fighters into arabia. Recruitment networks are already well established. They won't quit afghanistan for fear of an influx of battle hardened taliban guerrilla fighters. The american invasion and occupation of arab lands triggered a lot of resentment and anger in the islamic world. Russian and French spilling of arab blood have only made things worse. The imperialists always tag those who resist their authority or threaten their interests as terrorists. The imperialists in Moscow and Paris that make these decisions are well protected, however the populations they espouse to protect are exposed to reprisal attacks.
Given its wealth, the US will often try to buy a favourable settlement to a dispute for the sake of expediency. The one thing that angered the americans, was that they could buy off the Egyptian generals, but not saddam, no matter how hard they tried. He was an elite that remained loyal to the arab nationalist cause to the very end. His downfall started with the ill advised attack on the islamic revolution in Iran. The revolution failed to expand into arabia, possibly because their attentions were turned to self preservation, fighting a brutal and costly 10 year war. The americans decided to weaken and later depose the Iraqi bathists, allowing the revolution to spread to Iraq.
The spent and tired Assad regime is now totally dependent on Russia and Iran for its survival. In 1979, the USSR saved its client regime in Kabul from collapse only to get bogged down in an imperial war against islamic guerilla fighters.
The various tribal and religious groupings of the ME are like pieces being pushed around a chess board by the imperial powers - US, Iran, Russia and Turkey. The US supports Kurdish self determination. They hope to gain a new oil producing client state. The UK and France support the US and act as enforcer states of the american empire.
Iran & Russia make strange bedfellows. Iranian clerics believe that a pan-islamic order is the best way to counter
unrelenting imperialism in the region. Some believe that their real aim is to recreate the Persian empire through regional hegemony. They're gaining influence with shia arabs, building stronger bonds through the creation of religious and humanitarian aid networks, and providing military training. The americans vehemently oppose the formation of pan-islamic order as it threatens their interests in the region.
The americans are contemplating going back into iraq with ground troops. Having experienced the hard face of american imperialism during the insurgent wars 2003-07, this is likely to inflame the arabs even more. A stock pile of 10,000 IEDs awaits them. The right wing zionist political and corporate elite in the US are getting jittery. They're afraid that things may spiral out of control. Client arab regimes such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait may be threatened by militant islam. Populists like Trump calling for another all out invasion.
The US is technically at war with Russia due to Russia's unilateral annexation of parts of the Ukraine. The US is militarizing the eastern border of its empire in response to what it perceives as russian aggression and to reassure eastern European states of its commitment to their security. The US is hampered by europe's dependency on russian gas. Once this dependence is overcome, the borders will be closed and the gas taps turned off in an attempt to cripple the russian economy. Europe is a part willing, part reluctant captive of the US empire. With the defection of the Ukraine, the Russian empire continues to shrink in size.

Thu, 12/10/2015 - 13:28 | 6904983 cwsuisse
cwsuisse's picture

A lot of this seems plausible. I agree that Iraq and Syria have become a territory on which the US attempts to finally destroy the Russian Republic economically by replacing a significant part of Russian gas deliveries to Europe with gas from Qatar, for which purpose the Kurds and or Assad need to be removed / destroyed to build the pipeline through parts of Iraq or Syria to Turkey. The price war on the oil market masks the long-term economical silliness and inviability of this plan (if this plan should indeed exist). The stakes are high in this conflict and the risks gigantic since Russia is a nuclear superpower. The public is made to believe this conflict were about Assad or IS. Both is presumably wrong. It is about energy and the future of Russia and the multipolar world. The final word on the conflict and its outcome will presumably be spoken by China. Let us hope that their wise men come to the right decision. The US sacrifices it shale industry to subdue Russia and is wasting a valuable resource that can not be replaced. The consequence will be a very high oil price in the more distant future and an economically even stronger Russia if it should survive the current crisis. One can only hope that civilized people all around the globe speak up against this military nonsense in the desert.

Despite some support from Iran, the Saudi war on the people of Yemen isnt really a 'proxy war with Iran' at all - that is what the Ziomedia paints it as, of course.

http://writersviews.com/article-demonization-prelude-to-war.php
https://consortiumnews.com/2015/06/09/the-demonization-of-iran/

This demonization tactic should be familiar, even if zh isnt primarily a foreign policy analysis site (?).

Its actually and actual war on the independence of Yemen after a large part of that population decided they didnt like being ruled by a US/Saudi puppet regime. Thats not all of it - but thats most of it for the Houthi.

http://www.mintpressnews.com/whats-really-driving-the-saudi-led-attacks-...

Consider the Zio rag The American Interest's spin:

http://www.the-american-interest.com/2015/10/06/isis-attacks-saudi-coali...

Sure, people resisting a Saudi invasion are just 'isis.'

Salafists helping 'iranian backed' Shia against Salafist Arabia rather than helping Sunni palestinians against Jews. At all.

Cute.

What a great NeoCon plan! Send in Saudi/US troops, have the Militias fight them instead of Daesh!

Iraqi PM: We don't want you here.

US General: What? I can't hear you over the sound of the planes arriving with troops.

"BLAM!"

US General: Captain, I told you to safe that pistol. The PM is dead! Lucky for you, McCain is here to become PM.

So often victory goes to the Swift and Devious, not the slow & righteous.  This is seen daily in Trial Law, where good lawyers win on Procedure over Principle.

This is especially true in War and in Full-Spectrum-Dominance.
