"Everything's Crashing"

Tyler Durden's picture

The writing has been on the wall for a few days/weeks, but it appears a combination of global FX and equity turmoil and domestic corporate debt market collapse is finally starting to roil US equity markets. The Dow is down over 600 points in the last week or so, bond yields are collapsing, the USDollar is tumbling, crude is crashing, and junk bonds are in free-fall.

As expected in the aftermath of the Third Avenue gating (and as previewed weeks and months ago) Junk debt is getting destroyed:

And stocks are catching on:

The Dollar is getting dumped:

But crude is still carnaging:

And traders are rushing into bonds for safety:

And bidding paper gold...

This won't end well:

Remember,  a 25bps rate-hike means up to $800bn of liquidity withdrawn from markets. That is starting to get "priced-in."

Hillary and her crystal ball:  Some 'splain to do?

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said on Friday that world financial markets have "already processed" a possible interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve.

"The Fed has been signaling this for a very long time if they do make this decision by the end of the year ... I think the markets in the U.S. and the world will have already processed that and they have laid out what criteria they think should be applied," she told reporters after a campaign event.  Dec 4 (Reuters)

"In The Air Tonight"

I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord
And I've been waiting for this moment for all my life, Oh Lord
Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh Lord, oh Lord

Well, if you told me you were drowning
I would not lend a hand
I've seen your face before my friend
But I don't know if you know who I am
Well, I was there and I saw what you did
I saw it with my own two eyes
So you can wipe off that grin,
I know where you've been
It's all been a pack of lies

Dead Soul Tribe "I'm not waving"

I'm not waving to you
I'm drowning
And I hope for you to see
I'm not waving to you
I'm drowning
So why you waving back at me

I'm so tired of fighting the waves
I feel like going down
So desperately trying to be saved
Lend that hand your waving
Pull me aground

As I'm calling out to you
I wonder
Why my cry ain't getting through
Then a thought came to me
As I'm going under
Maybe you were drowning too

I'm caught in a tide of dismay
That I cannot defy
There's something you're trying to say
Now I know you're waving
Waving goodbye

So many waves
So many waves
So many hands are waving
So many hands are pulling me down

Below
My tears
Raining so long
Keep on crying
Keep on crying

Keep on rising
Keep on rising

Great song. Riffs off a poem by Stevie Smith in the early '70s, "Not waving but drowning". Amazing short poem, one of my faves. This has nothing to do with the topic so I'll shut up about it now but when I saw you posted the song, couldn't help but mention the original which I've loved for years!

Nobody heard him, the dead man,
But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larking
And now he's dead
It must have been too cold for him, his heart gave way,
They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

It does seem kind of a fitting dirge for the 'western' economies, doesn't it. Everyone thinks it's a party, dive on into the markets, the water's fine! and everyone thinks they're all partying and larking it up, and waving right up until suddenly they drown.

ZH anthem:

That's great it starts with an earthquake
Birds and snakes and aeroplanes
And Lenny Bruce is not afraid

Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn
World serves it's own needs, dummy serve your own needs
Feed it off an aux speak grunt no
Ladder with a clatter fight, fear flight down height
Wire in a fire representing seven games and a government for hire in a combat site
Left of west and coming in a hurry with the furies breathing down your neck

Team by team reporters baffled, trumped, tethered, cropped
Look at that low playing, fine, then
Uh-oh overflow, population common food, but it'll do
Save yourself, serve yourself, world serves it's own needs
Listen to your heart bleed dummy with the rapture and the revered and the right, right
Vitreolic, patriotic stand, fight, bright, light
Feeling pretty psyched

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it

EMINENCE FRONT

The sun shines, and people forget
The spray flies as the speedboat glides
And people forget, forget they're hiding

The girls smile, and people forget
The snow packs as the skier tracks
People forget, forget they're hiding

Behind an eminence front
Eminence front, it's a put on
It's an eminence front
It's an eminence front, it's a put on

An eminence front
Eminence front, a put on, eminence front
It's an eminence front
It's an eminence front, it's a put on
It's a put on, it's a put on, it's a put on

Come and join the party
Dress to kill
Won't you come and join the party
Dress to kill, dress to kill

Drinks flow, people forget
That big wheel spins, the hair thins
People forget, forget they're hiding

The news slows, people forget
The shares crash, hopes are dashed
People forget, forget they're hiding

Behind an eminence front
An eminence front, it's a put on
It's just an eminence front
An eminence front, it's a put on

An eminence front
An eminence front, it's a put on
Eminence front
It's an eminence front, it's a put on
It's a put on, it's a put on, it's a put on

Come and join the party

Bush 43's presidency ended in a fucking economic collapse that was SOMEHOW branded a fucking recession, when it CLEARLY is not!

During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the unemployment percentage was nearly 25%. Listen, the approximate real unemployment (raw numbers, not adjusted) percentage, at the beginning of the "great recess" -- OOPS!!-- I mean the "Great Depression of 2008," was estimated to be between 15% and 20%!! Just because people "looking for work" are counted as the "unemployed," while people actively NOT looking for work are OVERLOOKED by offcial unemployment numbers, then the numbers are intentionally being skewed in favor of 'the message!'

Nothing is "allright" with this economy. The same exact patters that emerged in the 1930s, AND 2008, are reemerging again.*HEADDESK*

Now that it appears there is flight, it seems President Obama's term might end just like Bush 43's did, all those years ago. That is what happens when the oligarcs control politics, and politicians -- NOTHING gets changed. Instead, the mentality of "Never allow a good disaster go to waste" took over our financial system and government, and the Banksters were never, ever punished for their malfeasence due to the fact they had this nation's economy by the fucking balls. They'll get their bail-outs again... and they'll get their bail-ins, too: Wait for it.

You think Deutsche is bad news...I got some REAL BAD news for you....

With this week's major news that Anglo American (world's 5th largest mining company) will lay off 85,000 employees (about 67% of their employees) over the next 2-3 years as well as Morgan Stanley Bank laying off 1,200 employees in 1 day while Barclays Bank announced few days ago that they will lay off thousands of employees (they have already announced 19,000 job cuts) and these ones are in addition, the news is very sombre in every city/country around the world because ....things are very bad in the corporate world!

Global economic situation is very grim and will get worse as more job cuts occur, as oil prices dive deeper, as all commodities keep dropping down and are now 70% to 80% down in iron ore, steel, shipping sector etc.

This is a worldwide phenomenon because we are so inter-dependent on each other. Except for very few pockets, most businesses, most cities and entire countries are in major trouble.

Demand destruction is occurring whereby most factories will shut down, currencies will plunge further, unrest and crime will keep rising along with suicides....

Unfortunately, the data is attesting to it. calgary suicides india farmer suicides rising suicides uk

South Korea: Suicide Nation  http://www.aljazeera.com/programmes/peopleandpower/2015/08/south-korea-suicide-nation-150827070904874.html

There seems to be almost no hope over the next year or two....Almost nothing can improve this situation since money has finished globally and economic systems seem to be permanently damaged due to corruption, crime and permanent job cuts in all sectors ranging from retail, steel, cars, banking, tourism etc bringing the money flows to a grinding halt and thus making a bad situation worse. This is occurring at a time when global population keeps rising and most Govts are losing control over their citizens.....

Free money printed by most central banks around the world acted as a drug or a steroid for a while whose impact has now finished and the withdrawal symptoms have started henceforth.....

But I do have some hedges and live within means, business is a micro one these days but still dont wish any to suffer but it must correct so there is opportunity for the regular Joe again. 20% cannot support 80% pyramid and those 80% are the pillars are crumbling fast and hard now.

Thanks for sharing your situation Raging debate.

It is terrible that so many busniesses are struggling globally because the money flows have come to a halt, most people around the world are barely spending on cheapest goods possible just to survive. Whover has kids and extraordinary expenses, gets a shocker once they get laid off from a 'decent' 'stable' job or have no sales or losses in any form of business.

Only growth has been in China over the last 5 years and in certain IT areas. But IT cannot even possibly give 1% of jobs compared to what's being lost in the rest of the sectors.

In addition, IT companies do not pay taxes because it is very easy for them to avoid taxes due to global sales and using tax structuires more complicated than a knitted yarn! Previously, car, steel and steel companies etc paid their fair share of taxes.

Anyone who does not have cash savings will commit suicide, kill a few others and go into Nirvana stage or just walk around grim faced.....The future of our 25-35 year olds is very very grim....

I wish you well, stay afloat, hold cash and save as much as you can and keep your company expenses as low as possible and best of all try to adapt and change something in your business or do a small side business in a new field.........every single penny counts!

Try going on a vacation and take a break, outside the US, if you live there, because USD is so strong that every single country outside it is quite cheap to travel to! :)

Have savings and a couple of long term contracts snd since my overhead is practically nothing (since I am a one man band) I should be Ok. My fiancee is an RN at a major hospital system and she can pay the bills if I go down. We live within means and my kids are grown.

I just bought a condo and I put up an ad on Craiglist to help me clean my old place for $100 for four hours of work. I got 8 responses in ten minutes, had to pull the ad. Shows how bad it really is out there. The guy who took the job tries to get two of them a day as he has five kids and a wife to support. He seems to live of coffee and sugar to get through the day. It reminded me how fortunate I am. I my research and planned in advance of these times but I was still luvky I had the time and mentality to do so.

As for vacation, well that will have to wait. There is a business opportunity a couple investors are going to fund so it is likely I will be ramping up my schedule for a good solid year. Maybe after that.

It's terribly sad to hear the example of cleaners in America for 25 bucks an hour! And so many! :( I wonder what Mcdonald's and Wal Mart employees think and do.....and those small coffee shops all over....

In healthcare publishing, may I suggest you to look globally. Most Govts worldwide are spending more on healthcare except US, India and a few others....

Rest of the world is spending enormously on healthcare and if you try some clicking on internet and approach say 10 people over the next 10 days and pitch something....you may have a contract or two...and you can always outsource some publishing locally out there while you provide the oversight and management expertise....If not now, perhaps later onc eyou get the new project done! Best of luck!

You think so? What are passports, religions, marriages, false flags, police and military, Hollywood crap and TV and media all about?

These are all tools to control the masses so that they keep busy and do not try to rise above the level that they are not even supposed to hear about, forget about thinking and seeing it....

Ever seen the movie the Matrix?

That's one hell of a list. So the final crash is on. If I were Thailand or Indonesia or Malaysia I would just tell the Fed to stuff my US dollar debt and join the Chinese/Russian defense pact. The one way that this MF can finally be brought down is if the EM debt isn't dollarized. Right now, that is the only thing that is holding the dollar up.

The Rob Kirby interview is interesting in that he's saying that the dollar under the surface is lacking support, as evidenced by a number of things including negative repo rates. If true, it's no surprise why Yellen is desperate to raise rates; this is existential and may mean the market 'gets it' to save the USD.

Regardless of the 2008 election Obama was installed as a distraction to the real plan of using Treasury and the FRBNY to loot the taxpayers of an initial $14 trillion in taxpayer equity.

Obama hasn't really done anything except keeping a high profile so that the PTB could keep a low profile while looting and pillaging on behalf of the FRBNY member banks.

The best and safest thing to do is to get your money out of the banks. Cash in hand will be worth a lot as digital money can be quickly restricted and confiscated. The only thing you get from a bank today is merely a relatively safe place to put money to keep it out of the hands of gun toting criminal perpetrators. However, that does not mean the money will be safe from the criminals who are running your bank and using your money to make all kinds of bets on commodities and derivatives.

By the way, FYI, they made those bets and lost big time. They are just hiding the losses just like Enron did.

You act as if the banks are normal entites that operate on what they call "fundamentals" around here, as if the banks are marking the value of their assets to market and are required to do so, as if supply and demand are determining the value of anything, as if it is not all sheer manipulation, as if the collapse has not already taken place and everything is an effort to hide this fact while the looting goes on.

No worries mate. The European 'leadership' is priming the pump for war by flooding Europe with muslims as we head in to winter. Where are those folks going to live, and since the POPO over there hava a hands-off order, I guess they'll live in whatever place they damn well please. Plus all the stuff with Turkey, Russia, etc.

Even the Krugman's of the world know in their heart of hearts the debt bubble either has to burst or a large scale war needs to occur to 'fix' things.

The war option is being fed and nurtured as we speak. 2016, the year Europe burns.

At 9 AM on the dot someone dropped 110,000 contracts on a sleepy market. In one minute.

This is 550 MILLION oz of paper.  60 seconds, an infinity to an algo.

It's a policy tool.  I can't wait for the day they finally run out of steam and get their faces ripped off.

I will use them to make a festive table cloth for the family room.

Well, silver might because it is consider an industrial metal. But you know in the world of silver, a drop of 1.38% is pretty meaningless.

Except that all those "little"  1% drops add up.  That's how silver dropped from $48 to $13 the past couple years.
